Great little music store. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Willing to work with you on pricing of their used instruments. I have bought both a new Fender Strat and a used Epiphone over the last year and they took the time to make sure everything was setup the way I wanted it. I never feel rushed when I come in and I am always provided an opportunity to feel free to look around or pick up any instrument I want and play it for as long as I want. I understand this is part of a sale process but they do not make it feel that way. A very special place and worth the time to go and visit.
My grandkids learn play violin and sing
They have everything you need. Prices are very good. They let you wander until you find what you want. I need to get some more things, so I’ll be going back.
Went with my daughter to purchase music book and look types of instruments. Found what I needed very easy.
Shop was well stocked and clean. Owner’s are very helpful and polite.
Super nice guys but when I tried to trade my mint esp 1000 deluxe with case and a marshall amp with a footswitch for a $512 takamine acoustic guitar they also told me they wanted 400 bucks. I get they are a business but didn’t know they were trying to straight up butcher me on the trade. On the phone the dude named Mike told Bruce that my ESP is selling for 700. Kinda wrong imo. Nice people though
This place is a rip off….cost me 60 dollars to have my 12 string worked on and when I got it home the electronics still didn’t work and when I complained about it all I got was a runaround. They wanted 150 dollars to replace the pre amp in the guitar and I told then no way. I went on ebay and bought the pre amp for $8.83 and it took me about an hour to fix it. Also the brand new strings they charged me for were all corroded. Beware of this place I will never ever do business with them again. Twice they have ripped me off.
Went in for an acoustic replacement part and the guy gave me a part for another guitar that was close but not right. Being an instrument shop, the guy should know what works and what doesn’t…or at least what to look for, for compatibility. It’s no big deal that I wasted the time and money…it’s the lack of knowledge from their part. I’m going to measure everything myself and order online, cheaper.
Also, come on, guys, every time I’ve gone in there (over 9 years) it’s always the same…dirty and dusty with a bunch of used unorganized crap everywhere. There are always people just sitting around and talking. I’m all for a cool hang out, but how about getting up off your butts and working your store a little. You have so much room and stuff, clear it out, clean it, and put it back in a better/improved way.
Lastly, your used acoustic guitars are miserable. I understand they’re used…but your prices are high and every guitar I looked at had major issue (cracks in the sound board or missing electronics with gaping holes).
Local shops are being killed by Amazon and the online retailers…you’re not helping to motivate us local musicains to support local shops. You could be the best in Brevard…but you need to do something and better yourselves.
3. Wholesale Music Instruments
Address: 3000 W New Haven Ave, West Melbourne, FL 32904 , Viera East , Florida , United States
Great place to purchase guitars and Gene is amazing with all his clients
Live music? Wow
Came looking for a case for an odd-sized guitar, found a live sit-in jam session, how delightful.
Owners were friendly and knowledgeable. My case was out of stock, he was happy to order more in. All in all, a great little shop.
Gene and…Kevin? are cool guys. I get a bit of a push-to-sell vibe from Gene, but that’s no surprise. Got to make money to eat and grow the business. Wish they had a proper luthier in-store and maybe a sound test room, but lot of good selection for merchandise.
Knowledgeable
I went in today to purchase some bass strings. They only had one brand to select from called Hi-Beams. He also stated that “bass strings now are ranging anywhere from $40-$70”. This is absolutely absurd. I’ll go on Amazon and purchase Ernie Balls for $17.
I actually came back to this place to give them a second chance, and still had a terrible experience. Taking a look at the Google responses from the owner too, it looks like he can’t take criticism to improve his business. I’ll continue shopping at Wickham Road Music and on Amazon. Thanks anyways.
Prices are ridiculous.
$40 for a drum head that is less than $30.
Drumsticks were $20 when others sold them for $12.
Mostly used gear. Everything is overly priced. The second you walk in the is trying to sell you a 3000 dollar guitar that he’s will to take half off of and and a story to go with it.
4. East Coast Music Store
Address: 106 Lincoln Ave, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 , Viera East , Florida , United States
I had a gig in the area and forgot a critical piece of equipment I needed for the performance. East Coast Music Exchange came to the rescue and stayed open a few extra minutes after closing time so I could purchase what I needed. Thank you so much for going above and beyond!!
Great people. Lots of guitars. Charles the owner is very knowledgeable and very helpful
Great experience buying my new guitar from them. Highly recommended!
we just walked through to look. Pawn shop. but they had a lot of instruments and equipment. the shop seemed well organized.
For a pawn shop they have a good inventory and selection of items
Not what we expected at all. This is a pawn shop, not a music store.
never found this place
5. Music & Arts
Address: 1408 Highland Ave, Melbourne, FL 32935 , Viera East , Florida , United States
My home away from home for the past 18 years. I can never say enough good things about this place
Fast service!! Instrument protection policy is THE BEST and always worth the investment!! Can’t say enough good things!! Thanks for all you do!!!
Professional staff. Plenty of parking for Eau gallie.
Very helpful people. Whenever we needed something, like a repair or exchange.
Friendly fast service!
Apprehensive staff and good inventory. This place is great for supplying up for school band stuff
This is my go to music store, but I called and asked some questions about their instrument protection plan and received very rude customer service. Respectfully, I’m paying a significant amount of money to rent an instrument from them and it would be nice if they were a little more polite.
Ordered an instrument, charged for instrument, after 2 weeks and multiple calls and sitting on hold for 45 mins was informed they have no idea when I would receive my instrument. And my refund will take 3-4 weeks.
You’d think when you’re paying $25 a month for a used plastic clarinet you’d at least get decent customer service. I was told that my clarinet, that had been damaged and sounded awful since the moment I opened it, was extremely damaged (obviously) and when she asked what I did to it I told her I had no idea as I’d barely played it and it was this way when I opened the case when I received it. She then told me “Think hard honey because all our instruments are shipped in perfect condition.” Clearly untrue. I will not be giving business to this company again. Very overpriced and rude.
Edit:
As I’m reading through others reviews I see many people have had this same issue with the same woman I had an issue with. I hope the owner notices this and takes proper action.
6. Premier Music
Address: 1389 Cypress Ave, Melbourne, FL 32935 , Viera East , Florida , United States
Frank and crew moved a baby grand piano from one house to another with ease, professionalism, and speed. He knows what he is doing and took excellent care during the entire process. I really felt like I should have paid more for his services. Highly recommended!
Very informative Owner. We bought a piano on the spot.
Friendly owner and most accommodating for my old digital piano. I was allowed to leave it there for a repair person from out of town come pick up my ancient instrument. Despite my inability to get back to retrieve it in a timely manner, I was always greeted kindly when I made my phone calls about my delays. I had to let my old inherited Roland digital piano go…and I’ll be buy my new one there. I might even take lessons there.
Horrible experience: Very pushy, very edgy and wanted to up-sell me in spite of my budget. Definitely felt “hustled”. Did not feel like a respected customer here. Will look for our piano elsewhere.
When asking for a refund of a system that never worked properly the owner advised me “NO REFUNDS and I’m the only game in town. The other piano store is closing anyway”. Brevard County piano customers – beware. This is how “the only game in town” Premier Music feels about your business.
Not open when they say . Can only look at pianos by appointment and you are immediately overwhelmed with questions about price range .
7. Atlantic Music Center
Address: 150 East Dr suite c, Melbourne, FL 32904 , Viera East , Florida , United States
I have been a customer of Brian at Atlantic Music Center for over 20 years. I am a professional musician and have purchased all my Yamaha grands for the churches I have worked at in southeast Florida and now the west coast of Florida. Without question, Brian and his wonderful team have offered THE BEST customer service and THE BEST pricing of any Yamaha piano dealer in the state of Florida! If you are in the market for a piano, deal with the best – Atlantic Music Center!
Very helpful
Amazing piano store!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was looking for a piano before Christmas and they allowed me to play the pianos and try every single one. I would def come here and purchase a piano! 🙂
So I have not bought a piano from this dealer, but I HAVE noticed that in looking at their reviews, every site I look at, share the same reviews, same exact text. It makes the reviews look like they are planted from the business. Where do I go to get a real review of this business?
I end up buying my piano somewhere else because I just couldn’t get straight answers and responses from them.
Today he was also the second time they said they would call me back and didn’t. They’re close enough that I can walk to their store but they don’t seem to respect me so I don’t feel like shopping there.
Took Brian a week to get back to me with 1 sentence that said they were too busy to repair my piano. Happy to look for service elsewhere!
8. Guitar Haven
Address: 1873 S Patrick Dr, Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937 , Viera East , Florida , United States
Recently purchased a Martin and wanted to have it looked at/professionally setup. I felt the action was a little high for my liking. Brought it in to guitar Haven and was told that the guitar did not need any work just yet. Howie advised me to hold off when he could have just made an extra couple dollars. That’s the type of honesty and integrity that should be found in a luthier! I will definitely be bringing all my guitars here for my luthier needs!!! Thanks again Howie!
I had new pickups installed and a setup on a Fender Bass, work done by Howie, it’s like having a new guitar! Excelent work!
Good time talkin’ shop with the owner(s)!
Howe spent tons of time with us to ensure my son found the perfect guitar and amp. He put together a bundle of guitar, amp, and a Vamp…if you are looking to get an instrument, go to this place! Years of experience to help you is priceless.
t
did an ok job setting up my strat. Not a fabulous job but not a bad job.
I am not that pleased with their general attitude they always try to pass off the cheaper products to me. I would rather go to a music store that tries to educate me rather than one that tries to benefit from any stupidity I may have.
Tiny little place, not much to see unless you’re looking for overpriced foreign knockoffs
i called and asked about a guitar hook and the guy on the phone didnt even know what it was i had to explain to him what it was and i asked about a tuner for a special guitar and he said that it was the same tuning just an octave apart and that octave in the type of guitar has to be precise im not going to call or go there for my guitar needs.
9. Lauts Family Music Center
Address: 2275 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953 , Viera East , Florida , United States
I just started guitar class at family music. So far everyone is above board nice. The store itself is small but they have everything you could ever need to fine tune your music experience. I love my class. My teachers name is Jim. What a love. He is an excellent musician and an outstanding teacher. Jim is kind and helpful. Thank you family music for everything.
Lauts is a great store contrary to the other review. They let you play anything in the store and theres no pressure to buy anything. They are a big “lessons” store so they focus on that. Everytime i go in the store, its a great experience.
Very nice lady working there I bled on her floor and she was just worried about my messed up foot and not her carpet. Luckily my wife cleaned it up with some peroxide so it is safe to go there. Cute little mom and pop shop
My son took lessons with Lauts. He loved playing the guitar. He has always received praises from every teacher in school that he’s ever had that he is kind, respectful and a rule follower, and he took lessons where we used to live with an instructor that loved working with him. However, when we moved to Merritt Island, he started taking lessons here with one of their instructors. One night, when we came to bring him in for a lesson, his instructor told us that he refused to teach him any more and gave us our check back. When we asked why, he just told us that he was difficult. We asked what he had done so that we could parent him or teach him what to do differently, but the instructor couldn’t tell us any one thing. No notice. Never indicating a problem ever before. He left the lessons in tears and didn’t touch a guitar again for 2 years. We’ve finally gotten him interested in a guitar again but it has been a struggle and we still have no idea what he supposedly did to have his lessons cut off and be humiliated.
Take lessons here at your own risk.
10. CubeSmart Self Storage
Address: 1935 Viera Blvd, Rockledge, FL 32955 , Viera East , Florida , United States
Bill and Tyra made my move from NJ to Florida an absolute breeze. The facility is clean, well maintained and easy to navigate.
Prices are absolutely stellar as well! During the lease signing, Bill walked me through all the necessary information and gave me receipts both digitally and paper copies for my records. He also was very nice to my roommates who were helping me out with the move.
10/10 experience
Always clean. Convenient to get to. The dollies were great
Wonderful place to store! Very clean and a professional staff. Customer service is excellent!
Quality of management has dropped off. Was much nicer and helpful just over a year ago when I used their facility. Witnessed a heavy rain and saw how poorly the building was constructed (now I know why insurance is mandatory. To cover their butts). Water gushed through the base of the exterior walls. Flooded the first floor with nearly and inch of water inside in rear areas. Hopefully better luck on the upper floors. Advantages are next to interstate access (I-75) and central to Patrick SFB and Kennedy Space Center.
The company would not allow to prorate the month. Just an inconvenience with not adjusting price and working with the customer. The staff at the location was great. They were very helpful and nice.
Giving 4 stars for the quality of the facility and the customer service from the facility team. What prevents a 5-star review is the corporate office consistently raising rates in very large clips. My cost more than doubled over 3 years in the unit. I can understand small annual increases but these were large increase several times per year.
This company is basically bottom feeders. I got charged $131 a moth of a small 5×8 foot closet. I wouldn’t have used them if I had not had too. They claimed the first month was free but I still got charged $61 to move in, which included a specialized lock I will never be able to use anywhere again. It only fits their type of door. I only found this out when I moved out and tried to return it. They are a horrible business barely above thieves.
Too expensive
They raise your bill without any warning and whenever they feel like it! I’m not interested in hearing your automatic response that the prices aren’t guaranteed for the life of the rental. Keeps going up by 20$ increments.
11. Jacobs Custom Guitars
Address: 2275 N Courtenay Pkwy #6th, Merritt Island, FL 32953 , Viera East , Florida , United States
These folks are great! Very personable and easy going. Had them set up my my recently new to me guitar, added new tuners and strings at an excellent price. I will definently be using them again. Woth the trip from Titusville to Merritt Island.
This guy is the “real deal!” A true luthier. If you have a stringed instrument and need it set-up or adjusted, this is the place to go. I have taken a guitar and a mandolin here, and I plan to get all of my instruments “fine-tuned” here eventually. I know I will bring any problem-guitars here for repair. Also, although his for-sale instrument selection is not huge, it is still pretty impressive. Playing any of the instruments hanging on his racks, you will also instantly get a feel for what he can do with this set-ups. The action and intonation on those instruments is absolutely perfect!
Tom is awesome, he installed my new bass guitar pickup, and made other minor adjustments, just in time for my rehearsal and show, I’ll be back for sure!
Good store and to set up your guitar but not more than that
Had a Peavy electric guitar repair and setup completed last year. I never played it and put it back on my wall and discovered nearly a year later and found that the repair did not hold up over time. I brought it back in today and told Dave the story and that I was probably in their system as I didn’t have the receipt. His words were… “Well it didn’t hold up.”
I remained friendly and asked him if he could take a look at it and if had just glued it (bridge support) the first time, perhaps he could open it up and take a look and perhaps had some wood screws or other bracing to strengthen the repair to take the tension and stand the test of time.
His reply without hesitation or offering to take a look and let me know if he could do anything g stronger was “Well I fixed it once and it didn’t hold up so I don’t know if it will hold up again and I’m not going to fix it for free.” I told him I wasn’t looking for a free repair but perhaps just take a look.
He wasn’t friendly – he wasn’t nice – he didn’t offer to take a look and suggest another repair method which I had suggested. He simply said again… Well I’ll take a look but I’m not going to fix it for free. I don’t even remember this guitar. I’m not going to fix it for free.” I said I didn’t expect that. He just looked at me so I bid him good day and I’m sitting outside his shop right now writing a 2-star review.
The only reason I’m giving him 2 stars instead of 1 is because his wife was so nice when I talked to her about a month ago.
I won’t be doing any further business with him and I caution anybody to ask for a 1 year guarantee on any of his work and check it carefully before you leave. In fact, I would suggest asking him what his repair method will be in detail. I suspect he simply threw some epoxy in there which is what I had done years ago and it didn’t hold. I’ll know for sure when I open it up when I get home.
Do not trust this place to work on any valuable or vintage instruments!!!…would give 0 stars if able…Several years ago I had them do a basic setup on a Larrivee lv3 acoustic guitar that had light fret buzz on two notes so it didn’t need much to get it right…work was acceptable but final bill was higher than quoted price…..appx a couple of years ago I brought them a vintage 1978 musicman stingray bass to adjust the neck and basic setup…when I picked it up I mentioned that the action was still too high as if the neck had barely been moved and he said that he would lower it next time I came back if I wanted him to…when I brought it back while dropping off another guitar to work on he acted like it was a huge deal to work on it again and had a bad attitude about doing it…he finally did lower the action to a decently acceptable level…final work was acceptable but not great and bill ended up being quite a bit higher than originally quoted price…The last guitar I brought to them was an unmolested vintage 1966 Martin 00-21 acoustic guitar that needed the bridge reglued…I only asked for the bridge to be fixed and nothing else and was quoted $120 for that and possibly a little more if they needed to make a new saddle…when I went into the store to pick it up not only was the final bill $400 but I was horrified to see that it had been heavily buffed with white compound residue still stuck in all the crevices and stinking like tanning lotion not like fragrant wood anymore…also they had filled multiple dings/pick wear/small cracks with epoxy making them darker and much more obvious…the guitar was previously unmolested for it’s entire life and filling dings etc and buffing it severely decreased it’s value and collectibility…to make it worse I was charged $100 for the buffing which I did not ask for and did not want done…nobody in their right mind would buff a highly valuable vintage instrument ruining the beautiful golden glow patina that it had aquired over decades of being untouched and drastically reducing it’s value and collectibility…I told the guy at the register that I was originally quoted $120 plus a possible new saddle and never asked for it to be buffed which he seemed shocked about at first but then told me they installed new bone pins and charged for a setup too…then he asked if I was able to pay the bill…I told him that the point is I didn’t ask for extra work to be done and especially didn’t ask for buffing thinking he would at least adjust the bill which he did not do…I was about to lose my temper so I paid the bill and left…after getting back home and inspecting it further I could see the bridge was already beginning to lift again and could see the glue pulling away along the back edge…within a week the bridge had already lifted so high that it was unplayable and had to take all tension off the strings to avoid the bridge pulling off completely…I also noticed that there was a mark where glue had been allowed to run while regluing the bridge and realized at that point why they had gone on to epoxy dings and heavily buff it…they let glue run and dry and decided to sand it off then buff the entire guitar to cover up for their mistake and then charged me for it…easily cutting the guitars collector value in half and ruining future collectibility increase…that’s currently an appx $2,000.00 reduction in value by my estimate and more considering it’s now limited for future increase in collector value…the only thing I asked for was for the bridge to be fixed and that repair failed within a week…I was so upset from the entire event that I put the guitar back in it’s case and haven’t even looked at it since so I could put it out of my mind…they could have admitted to their mistake and agreed to compensate me fairly for it but they chose to attempt to cover it up by buffing and further ruining my vintage instrument then charging me several hundred dollars more than the quoted price…they don’t deserve your patronage…your valuable instruments deserve better…beware!!!
I wish I could give 0 stars. I brought a partscaster in for a setup. The guitar had a Floyd Rose trem. He said he didn’t want to take on a Floyd Rose. Fair enough. Then as I was leaving, he said “If you want to build guitars then learn to build them.” What an arrogant comment.
12. Atlantic Strings Violin Shop
Address: 1379 W New Haven Ave, Melbourne, FL 32904 , Viera East , Florida , United States
So happy with this establishment and the wonderful people who have worked there for so long. Always a pleasure to see Marley. I really appreciate her knowledge and recommendations for my daughter.
The staff is so very knowledgeable and helpful. I never feel like my questions are silly. And they don’t add on costs where they aren’t needed!
The best music shop in that county.
Have wide range of string instruments in various price ranges.
Was happy with work they did on my violin.
Friendly and helpful staff. Not intimidating at all, which was my concern in first going there.
Always a great place to visit. Staff are helpful and knowledge. Luthier’s are expert.
Good choices helpful
I bought and rented quite a few instruments from Atlantic Strings over many years for my kids, even a piano way back when it also sold pianos. I happened to need something for myself today and was very disappointed. I asked if I could buy a bass bag, but return it the next day if it didnt work out. They said no and made me feel embarrassed and stupid for asking. Now I will buy the same case for 30 dollars cheaper on Amazon and never buy anything from Atlantic strings again. Way to lose a longtime customer!
Overpriced
I bought a viola from this company, ended up being too big for my daughter. Took it back they have a no refund policy and don’t let them fool you about the trade in policy. It was traded in for a viola that wasn’t even close to the original one I bought. The bridge on this viola broke within two months. They just traded it out again on another one and this
one doesn’t even have a quality sound to it. They are a horrible run
company. They could care less if their customers are happy with their
purchases. I would highly not recommend this to anyone.
13. Savvy Vinyl Records
Address: 28 Laurie St, Melbourne, FL 32935 , Viera East , Florida , United States
I love small businesses with a passion for what they do. If new or old vinyl is your passion then this is the place for you. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. A bit hidden away but finding it makes you one of the cool kids.
Best place for records in Melbourne! Highly recommend
The owner was nice and she has a dog in the store who is adorable. She was friendly and asked if she can find anything for else or she’ll order and deliver it.
14. P.S.J. Music Co.
Address: 4795 Fay Blvd #19, Cocoa, FL 32927 , Viera East , Florida , United States
Port St John music is a great place to have your musical needs and wants fulfilled. Shannon and Laura share their in depth knowledge of music instruction, instrument sales and repair, live sound equipment, parts and accessories with you and take very good care of their customers always.
Laura is an amazing teacher. My first lesson for guitar and after practicing at home for a day with what she taught me I am already starting to feel like the chords will be misleading memory in no time.
Ty Laura! Looking forward to because pro.
Shannon and Laura are the BEST. They are very personable and professional. They are always willing to work with their customers and really care that our aspiring musicians develop a genuine love for music evidenced through their one on one lessons they provide. I challenge anyone to find a more down to Earth and caring music learning environment.
PLEASE fix your hours of operation. It says you close at 7 so we got there by 7 because my son has to have valve oil, naturally tonight for school tomorrow lol…. and you closed already and the hours on your door were not 7 pm daily for closing. OTHERWISE, this shop is awesome!
