Found this place the second month after I moved here. This place and the people that run and own it are great. They go out of there way to help and please. Long live vinyl.
Awesome shop! Great selection and amazing customer service.
Maui’s only record store! Great place to shop and hangout… Not so great at getting in Record Store day selections. But still… A fun record store with island vibes and sometimes life performances.
A vast amount of CD, vinyl & DVDs. There are sections alphabeticly sectioned but each section is jumbled. It takes time to find stuff.
Hawaiian music CD’s, LP’s, Music and more.
Getto
Cool stuff
3. Mele Ukulele Wailuku
Address: 1750 W Kaahumanu Ave, Wailuku, HI 96793 , Waihee-Waiehu , Hawaii , United States
They were very helpful and reasonable prices! I definitely would recommend them.
my family and i were on vacation on maui a few weeks ago and conveniently enough, we were there for my birthday. since it was my 18th i really wanted something special, so i decided that i really wanted to get an authentic hawaiian ukulele made on the islands. when we got to mele, i was immediately struck by the huge selection of ukuleles; what caught my eye the most were the double-soundholes on most of them. everyone in the shop were so patient and easygoing. they really made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to find the one i really wanted. i settled for a handmade koa tenor ukulele with the double sound hole. it had such a rich tone and i knew it was the one i wanted. thanks to mele, i now have a one-of-a-kind ukulele that i’ll cherish for the rest of my life as the best birthday gift i could ask for!
mahalo annie and everyone else for your kokua!
Nice place for buying a ukulele with an awesome Service 🙂
Very nice music store.
Loved hearing Koa test out an awesome tenor ukulele from here.
I was excited to buy a nice ukulele for once. I spent $400 thinking the ukulele I bought would be great. The same day I bought it, without any chance to play, the peg broke. I asked if it could get it fixed by the time my flight left, and they did. When I went to pick it up they made me wait a half hour even though my ukulele was sitting right there. I asked if there was any way I could either get my money back, get a new ukulele, or if they could check to see that none of the other pegs would break. I’m writing this because they responded with oh no you’re peg won’t break again, that’s super rare. But Im back home now and just had a second peg break, different peg from the first one that broke. I am a very kind and patient person but I do not appreciate this kind of service and I hope there is some way they can reconcile for an absurd amount of money paid for a low quality instrument.

Amazing service, great array of products to fit everyone’s musical needs! I’ll definitely be back. Tyler was awesome, and not just because he has my same last name!
Bounty is a great local shop. Always friendly and easy to deal with. Prices are very good nice to keep money on island…
Good job
Was a deal one day. Full price next day..
Very patient salesperson. Explored all possibilities for purchasing. Very nice selection of instruments to choose from. Overall very pleasant experience. Been patronizing Bounty Music since the 1980’s
Store jammed with loads of different instruments and their nice staff are all very helpful!
I bought 2 guitars there. I’m happy with the guitars so they get an extra star. Their service is awful. I get that artistic people shouldn’t be expected to be the most professional at work so I gave them slack. I brought my guitar in to get serviced (strings buzzing on electric). Guy X says “The guy who can fix that isn’t here today and to start the process you gotta talk to Guy Y over there.” ( is there really only one person out of the 6 here that knows how to put a tag on a guitar with my name/#/ and problem?) I couldn’t believe only one person knew how to adjust it that worked AT A GUITAR/UKULELE SHOP. Guy X ditches me and I’m left stranded. There was more that day but I’ll stop here because Guy Y basically ignored me and helped people behind me.
I left it there (finally, and it wasn’t guy Y who helped but a girl who saw me there in line for 20 min and felt bad, she put a tag on the guitar with name/#/ and problem). 2 days later I called to see how it was going. They said “Dude, we’ll call you when it’s ready, click.” I went there 3 days after I left it and they said it hadn’t been touched. Would you trust a mechanic who didn’t even touch your car after 3 days in the shop? I wouldn’t. I took it home, watched YouTube videos and got it done.
If you need something NOW you have to go there. I love to support local business, even if they’re more expensive (to be fair in my cases they were not more expensive than online). However, I won’t support any business that is careless with me.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
Went in to Bounty Music for new Ukelele strings on Christmas Eve. The young man that “assisted” us was incredibly rude! Initially, he was troubled by the fact that there were two wound strings on my ukulele. Then, after not being able to locate the matching set of strings, he stated that he would just “eyeball it”. He became even more rude after the young lady told him to verify by speaking to someone else. He refused. We were so offended, we left. Not enough room to finish my review..

Super helpful, informative and patient. A true collaborator.
Aloha everyone,
Mr. Katz is my teacher at UHMC and he has so much to teach. He takes pride in helping each individual student understand the many techniques involved with the Steel guitar. This is not the only instrument he plays. You can see him light up inside, with the enjoyment in his eyes. knowing the he is passing on his knowledge of music to his students and the world. He is a great musician, teacher, mentor and family man. All around great person.
Sincerely,
Dennis Singer
I’ve known Roy for several years, and worked with him both as an educator and a performer. As a teacher, he is patient, encouraging, and so creative! He always seeks out interesting and engaging repertoire for his students, and it’s always clear that they’re having a great time while growing as musicians. He also performed with my choirs as a cello soloist several times. He is an outstanding performer, always professional and well-prepared, and just a wonderful person to work with.
On our recent return to Maui, my wife & I rented a violin and guitar from Roy the Musical Mailman to use for a week. Roy was very clear in his rental terms, the process was easy, the price was very fair and the instruments and cases were in great condition. I especially loved the older violin I rented, and my wife felt the same way about the guitar. The violin had a beautiful mellow tone, and came with all accessories needed, including a wooden and a carbon fiber bow. If we need to rent instruments on Maui again, I will definitely contact Roy. Mahalo Roy, and thanks also for the work you’re doing bringing stringed instrument instruction to the children of Maui!

Kia Ora, Paul was really helpful and gave me options to when I was choosing my ukulele. Even this crazy pandemic didn’t stop him getting my new uke to me in NZ. I’m rapt with my new uke and will recommend this company to others. When …….. international travel resumes I’m still going to Hawaii and will catch up with these guys in person. Cheers Catherine
I recently bought a Kanile’a K-1T from ukes.com. They have great communications and happily answered all the questions I had. The ukulele was immaculately packed and arrived in perfect condition. I don’t write many reviews but thought this company deserved a 5 star review. Tim
David has worked with my daughter for several years. If you, your child, or someone you know want to improve your vocal performance this is a great learning opportunity and investment. We are fortunate to have such an accomplished and qualified Vocal Coach on Maui. He is a great role model. I saw my daughter’s confidence grow. He teaches online too! We moved from studio lessons to online lessons during Covid and were able to get the same high quality lessons with David. I highly recommend David at Beefstew Productions.
David brings out the very best in you at every lesson. He matches your level of commitment, holding the bar high because he knows you are capable, and all you can do is rise, stretch and astound yourself. He is as warm and friendly as his Aloha studio. You can trust David to expand your vocal repertoire, and be pleased with the outcome. Fun, in depth learning and growth at every level – what more could you want? I feel so much more confident with my singing and am happy I signed up with David, a worthwhile investment.
I cannot sing David’s praises enough! I have been a teacher my whole life, yet I have learned a thing or two about teaching from him and our voice lessons! He is engaging and knowledgeable, always finding ways to explain and connect the technique, theory, and physicality of singing. I play with a local children’s band and even they can hear the difference in my voice since I began working with David. I feel more confident and have a deeper understanding of how my voice works! I highly recommend voice lessons with David and Beefstew Productions. He truly has the expertise and the patience to help anyone!
Carlos Rock was very professional and very patient in explaining to me and my son, John, the differences of ukulele that he has in his family store, located in Paia, Maui. This family owned and operated business has been around Maui over 30 years. We’re visiting from Southern California and appreciated in taking home a peace of Maui, Hawaiian history home as it was made from the koa tree which is locally grown on these islands. So, if you ever visit Maui, go to Mele Ukulele and Carlos will help you pick out a nice hand-crafted ukulele for you. Ours costs $900 but you can find an affordable factory made for $125–$175. We also saw a soprano one that goes for $3000 but we’re not ready for it, yet. You won’t regret it!
When leaving Maui we wanted something special to take home with us from such a beautiful place. We got a ukulele with the island engraved. The attention here is great! The young man even offered a lesson which sold me!
Popped in this store yesterday before leaving Maui and had an excellent time.
The young employee was super knowledgeable and friendly (i forgot his name).

I found Amber through IG. She was very responsive and helpful. Planning a destination wedding can be stressful, but to know I could count on Amber was a relief. She played all of the songs we requested plus more. Her voice is beautiful and guitar playing as well. If you need a Christian officiant for your wedding, her husband can help with that too 🙂
Amber was wonderful to work with! Very talented and flexible to our plans and ideas. Would highly recommend! She made our private ceremony special and romantic! Thanks Amber!
