The Ellman family has provided a family focused music service for many years. Their business style is not focused on a one time sales but rather a long term relationship based on helping families help their musicians succeed and enjoy music.
They promised to complete repair in one week, then on Thursday I called to find out if it was completed they told me if I wanted to fix it by Saturday there will be a rush charge to finifsh repair. Saturday is band competition day. I asked if they will drop the estimated price down because it was not complete by the day they promised to finish it. Then was told it was not garantied to be fixed by Friday anyhow. Just because they are the only store in town they shouldn’t treat their customers like that!
DO NOT BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT HERE FOR REPAIRS. Took my son’s alto sax in only to fix the octave key, that’s it. Was serviced by a pleasant lady and was told I’d get a call the next business day with an estimate after inspection. Next day came and went with no call, so I called 2nd day and was given the estimate, told repair would take 2 weeks and authorized the work, and was told I’d be contacted when completed. After 2 1/2 weeks and no call, I called to check the status. Was told it was still in the shop and would HOPEFULLY be done at the end of the week, which would made 3 weeks total in the shop. The word HOPEFULLY was a trigger word and red flag, so I requested for a guarantee it would be done and the guy on the phone wouldn’t commit to that. After 3 1/2 weeks and no call, I decide to show up in person to get the status. I was serviced by the original pleasant lady, requested a status, she checked the computer, stated she needed to call up the repair technician for a status, got on the phone with him and acknowledged to him the notes showed they told me it would be done the previous week. He tells her to tell me he will TRY to have it done SOON!!! I immediately said no that’s not good enough and asked for a guaranteed date. She asked if I’d like to speak directly to the repair technician. He commenced to talk about how delicate the repair is and the time. I asked had he even started on it, he said the week after I brought it in (I don’t believe that), then I asked why can’t it be done by the end of that week (the 4th week), and then he starts talking about how many other instruments he has to repair. BINGO, now we get to the real problem, they can’t handle the volume and don’t communicate that to the customers. Then to give them a last shot at my business, I requested for priority to complete my repair (a broken octave key), since it has now been almost 4 weeks and I’m physically standing in the shop. He would NOT commit to giving me priority. TERRIBLE SERVICE and treatment of a customer given the circumstance they created! Immediately I asked if my sax was fully assembled and he answered yes (wait, I thought he started working on it??), and I requested that lady in the shop to go get it. I told the repair tech on the phone I’m taking it home and hung up. The lady came back with my sax, closed out the ticket no charge and I left. Communication, communication, communication………they are terrible at this. There was failure at communication at every single interaction with this shop. From not communicating a REAL timeline through the door, from not communicating the real issue with my status, to not making it right. DO NOT TAKE YOUR INSTRUMENT HERE FOR REPAIR. I now see there are other bad reviews for their repair service. I wish I would had saw them before blowing a whole month with them just to still have an unrepaired sax.
This company makes robocalls to your home. i have never been this company.
4. Naperville Music
Address: 636 E Ogden Ave, Naperville, IL 60563 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
I’m a total novice, but the team at Naperville Music made me feel like I was a part of the band. The service was affordable, prompt, and the customer service was fantastic. What a great team!
First time buying a piano, sales person was very knowledgeable and delivery and setup was also professionally done. Thank you
The entire staff at Naperville Music is professional in every aspect of their work. I Want to especially thank Johnny (the guitar guru) and Nate for their exceptional customer service. They are devoted to helping customers achieve finding the instrument that works best for them. I have and will continue to recommend Naperville Music to all my music friends.
The owner Mark has been helpful in working out an issue with me on my guitar. To be continued.
In these unprecedented times I recommend Sweetwater for all your musical needs. Impeccable customer service! Online service at your fingertips
I have no regrets buying my guitar with you considering that Guitar center is closer to my place. I’m not after convenience but GREAT SERVICE which i have receive and Good Deal. I’m satisfied with my purchase and will come back again.
As soon as the piano teacher looked at me and my daughter the energy was wrong. I maintained a positive attitude…she swung the room door open 5 mins before my daughter’s lesson ended and started talking to me LOUD saying “your daughter is not supposed to be using THIS BOOK”. I kept trying to explain (again) how my daughter had taken a break in her lessons. Ms Allison KEPT cutting me off everytime I tried to speak. She did this after the lesson was over as well. Then, she kept hammering at my daughter telling her how impossible close to difficult it would be to re learn the notes. This lady took 1 look at us and assumed we were ignorant. She chose to be antagonizing instead of being a teacher. I don’t think she’s like this with everyone, picks n chooses. The energy of this place was nothing like this when Tracy works.
Terrible service, they purchased an old guitar from me, and refused to let me take the case, we never arranged them getting the case, also the staff is not very enthusiastic. No one seemed like they wanted to be there including me.
Don’t waste your money on this place, they never e-mailed me but they said they did to let me know, that my grandson piano teacher would no longer be their on the day his lessons were schedule. All they are worried about is the money!!!
5. Music & Arts
Address: 385 Illinois Rte 59, Aurora, IL 60504 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Great people to work with. Helped our son pick out and test a trigger trombone. Reasonable prices.
Andrew helped us find what we didn’t even know we were looking for and saved the day! I would highly recommend!
This place leaves me wanting to come back every time?
Cool little music store with the two most friendly ladies there to help
Kid takes lessons
I needed oboe reeds and some practice booklets. They had what I needed and have a small variety of instruments available: clarinet, various saxophones, flutes and piccolos, and some stringed instruments.
Not bad and I’m pretty sure they have a website too with a large inventory.
After 2 weeks of waiting for 2 masks that I ordered for our horn player, I finally called to get the status. I was told it was still being processed! I told them that was unacceptable after 2 weeks and that the order should have been after 2 weeks. I told them to cancel. The first CSR told me that she would cancel it. I asked for a confirmation number or email. Could not provide it. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She said there were none available She hung up on me. Called back again. This CSR told me he would cancel (proves the first request was not made). He also said that he could not provide a confirmation but would have an email sent. Very rude people and non helpful. Do not order from them!
School closed due to COVID 19 , but they charge money from credit card every month and no way to make this cancel.
Highway robbery. None of the music stores charge security deposit except this place. And it has been more than a month I am trying to get my security deposit back. Every call they have different story. And you have to wait long time to get customer service representative. Very shady company. It is like you buy something from TV commercial and trying to reach them after you return the item. I don’t suggest this place at all. Check other music stores and go there afterwards.
6. Master Cello
Address: 28w577 Stafford Pl, Warrenville, IL 60555 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
My son really enjoys taking cello lessons with Mrs. McGinty! She is a great teacher and explains things clearly. Also, she is patient and kind with the students. Her knowledge of the cello is excellent and my son has improved markedly over the course of one school year. Highly recommend!
This is the place to learn to play the cello! Friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging teaching makes each lesson an event to enjoy. Progress in learning and playing is inevitable!
The perfect instructor for virtual cello lessons! She’s terrific at giving actionable feedback, and she consistently went out of her way to cater to the songs and styles I wanted to learn. She always provides practical lesson plans and can pinpoint areas for improvement. I learned a lot and had a ton of fun, and as an adult student, I feel encouraged and inspired to keep playing the cello!
In October my wife and I were married in Bolingbrook, the Brass String Chamber Ensemble played a beautiful prelude and throughout the wedding ceremony. The trumpet was particularly spectacular and really made an huge impact when my bride appeared at the back of the church for the first time. 5/5 would recommend!
The Brass String Chamber Ensemble (BSCE) truly made our wedding special! My husband and I are professional musicians and wanted only the best as far as music for our wedding. The BSCE was hands down the best choice for providing professional musical performances for our wedding! They were easy to communicate with and they provided helpful suggestions to make the experience for both ourselves and our guests a memorable one! It’s been 3 months since our wedding, and people are STILL talking about how wonderful the music was that BSCE provided!
We were thrilled with the professionalism and quality of service from the BSCE for our Aug 2017 wedding at White Eagle in Naperville, IL. Paul and Kris were easy to contact, communicated with us frequently, and helped us truly personalize our wedding. We had some specific song requests that they were able to accomodate—some Beatles, Dave Matthews, and Allman Brothers tunes. They were responsive to our requests and super easy to work with. Our guests LOVED the string quartet and were quite impressed with the addition of the trumpet. We had guests coming up to us throughout the reception to tell us how beautiful and unique the quartet music was!
8. Target
Address: 28201 Diehl Rd, Warrenville, IL 60555 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Target always has what I need! You are never out of anything!
Staff
Target drive up is incredibly convenient. I appreciate how the app shows you if Cartwheel is available on each item you select as well. The staff are friendly and all of my orders have been complete with good quality items. I even appreciate the sturdy bags in which they deliver your items to your car.
This is my go to Target, but I had an issue awhile ago where something I bought from the electronics section came home empty. I brought it back certain that I would have to persuade them to believe me, and that I had just lost $100+ on a box of air. That didn’t happen though, and everything was fine in the end.
Only reason it’s 4 stars is because it happened in the first place. Nervous about buying expensive items here.
A great place to shop with majority of the things you may need plus of course more things you didn’t know you needed! Everything in store is well organized, depending on the day is well stocked or not so much. Cashiers are very friendly and work well with whatever you may need help with!
Nothing “Super” about this Target
Typical Target, high prices and people at the checkout who don’t really care.
A six foot tall employee chased me throughout the store on all fours while foaming at the mouth. Rabies! Never shopping here again!
Horrible Starbucks. Terrible drinks that do not taste like they are supposed too.
9. Modern Music
Address: 1715 Ogden Ave, Lisle, IL 60532 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Best rental prices and experience I’ve ever had with any music store (and there have been several before this). Exclusively go here to rent equipment. A good music store in general, would recommend.
Great people there!! Always willing to assist you. Great place for all you’re music needs!! I always feel comfortable shoping there!!
Helpful, friendly staff.
Awesome place to buy your guitars and music equipment staff is very friendly and knowledgeable
After politely declining their laughably low offer to buy my trombone, the sales associate became unfriendly and demanded that I give him a counter offer. The poor customer service and the dismal offer to buy my trombone were very surprising to me; I was expecting far more from a business with so many positive reviews.
10. Evolet Eve
Address: 28W575 Stafford Pl, Warrenville, IL 60555 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Cute wine bar with a great selection of good wine and beer. The patio is great, our hostesses were wonderful!
Excellent, attentive service work a great selection of not only wines, but beers and hard stuff, too. The only issues we had was with the website PDF list of drinks, which crashed our phone web browsers, and also is crazy hard to read with dark text on a black background (even though it’s wonderfully designed).
Evolet Eve is such a charming place! Perfect for after work drinks with coworkers or a bottle of wine to share with a loved one. We love it here!
Super super cute place with a lovely menu. Even if you have people who aren’t drinking in your group it’s still a nice place. Sitting outside at night with their cute lights on is unmatched. Hands down would recommend to everyone.
Good wine
Fun place..great great outdooe seating!
11. PM Music Center
Address: 4411 Fox Valley Center Dr, Aurora, IL 60504 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
We were in town to look at a used french horn and not expecting to go to a music store. My daughter forgot her mouthpiece and since we’re three hours from home we needed to stop into a music store to buy one. Mike at PM music helped us out quickly and got us exactly what we needed. Thank you!
I have been going to PM since middle school. The staff is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I had some work done on my flute, and developed a newfound love to start playing again.
Good
Very friendly and welcoming place. Had an issue with a repair but they corrected the problem. Took more than stop to resolve the issue, so 4 out 5 stars. Would still recommend and will continue to shop here.
Great place with very friendly staff members. They’re always willing to help. I used them for instrument rental for a couple of my kids.
12. Let’s Play Music
Address: 432 Lampwick Ct, Naperville, IL 60563 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Our young chlidren LOVE Saturday morning music class with Claire. They are learning about about rhythm, solfege, and connecting movement with song. The course materials are great for parent/child engagement and reinforce learning. We’ll definitely be in attendance next semester.
We love Sound Beginnings! My two children song through the week the songs we sing and love the workbook activities to keep them engaged. Miss Claire keeps it new each week which keeps the kiddos entertained!
A neighbor recommended Mrs. Claire’s class, and we are so happy she did because my son absolutely loves this class! We look forward to it every week and love singing the songs at home too. Mrs. Claire is so wonderful with all the kids, would highly recommend to anyone to try Let’s Play Music!
13. Corner Bakery
Address: 28258 Diehl Rd, Warrenville, IL 60555 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Customer service was ok food was good, it just took awhile to get my order. Sign up for the email club they send good coupons for savings.
The food is exceptional, but of course one bad apple, the female manger on duty Jan 7 in the am. was rude no smile nothing to welcome and while we ordered, she seemed almost bothered by our family group. Well no lie I would have loved to give 5 stars because I’m sure they really deserved it but had to be transparent.
This location was top-notch until the recent staff change. I guess “Morning Rush” now means they rush your order and get it wrong. I will stick to the Oak Brook and Schaumburg CB on future visits.
Dried out brownie and watered down coffee. If I wanted that I would have stopped at a gas station. Not sure why they are still in business. Must have missed the in house folksinger set.
14. Suburban Music
Address: 210 W Front St, Wheaton, IL 60187 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
This place is awesome. Clean shop, great people, and the artwork is phenomenal. Could not recommend this shop more.
Great people that do great work! Couldn’t be happier.
Rich was amazing. Place was clean. Can’t wait to go back for more.
After reading previous reviews I thought I’d “walk in” on Friday & discuss a tattoo I wanted. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that friendly, kind experience others were talking about. What I got was a guy who seemed totally disinterested in what I was talking about. I asked about an appt because I have a busy schedule, he explained they only do large tattoos during the week & smaller ones, which mine was, would be done on Fri/Sat & those are “walk in” days. So I came to the conclusion starting with his total disinterest & ending with not wanting to make an appt. He clearly didn’t want to be bothered with me.
I wanted SO BADLY to love this place but I was totally disappointed. I can only rate this on my one experience with my artist, Rich so I would potentially go again but not to Rich. I was explaining my piece to him and he kind of just made me feel stupid for my idea and the placement of it. I would’ve trusted his advice about placement but it basically meant changing my whole idea. I foolishly put down the HUGE DEPOSIT, like $80! I had to wait a few weeks out to have the appointment and during those weeks I tried to get in touch to come in and see how the sketch of the piece was going bc I already felt like maybe I left him with an unclear understanding of what I wanted. He said that he doesn’t sketch up his appointment’s work until the WEEKEND BEFORE THEIR APPOINTMENT! So that made me feel like he doesn’t care too much about putting in all that much thought into a customer’s custom piece if he just cranks them out like that! I cancelled, never saw my deposit money back which sucks bc he obviously hadn’t drawn anything up, then a couple weeks later (after cancelling) he calls to have me come in. I hung up on him.
RIP OFF… Charged me double for such a small tattoo. Make sure you shop around or do little homework about pricing before you go.
We are so happy we went with Jim for our ceremony music! He was amazing and we had so many compliments from our wedding guests and other vendors. Jim provides a great selection of songs, is quick with communication, very professional, and kind. We will keep him in mind for future family functions! I highly recommend Jim for your wedding entertainment.
Jim was incredible – he was so kind and patient with us, and willing to tailor everything to our specifications. We asked him for some particular things (announcements, music requests, etc) and he was so flexible and accommodating. He was perfectly communicative in the process and he offered us transparency by updating us on the progress of the songs he learned specifically for our wedding. His performance was outstanding, and our guests loved him too. We left the venue before our guests did, and he continued to play until the very last minute we were booked for, and even a little bit longer as our families were cleaning up at the end of the night! We were all blown away by his kindness and professionalism. By the end of the wedding process, he felt like a friend to us. We wanted our music to be personal and unique, not just another DJ – Jim went above and beyond our expectations. Can’t recommend him highly enough.
I can’t recommend Jim enough. It was a treat to have him at our wedding. At first we were just going to have him for our cocktail hour, but due to Covid had to change our wedding up and we had Jim play all evening for us. You should seriously look no further. Jim is a talented passionate musician and will add a beautiful touch of elegance to your wedding day or other special event.
17. Steinway & Sons – Naperville Warehouse
Address: 1600 Shore Rd suite b, Naperville, IL 60563 , Warrenville , Illinois , United States
Kimberly Steele has been an amazing find. Last summer my 8 y/o daughter attended a week long music camp at the Naperville Park District which was through Kimberly’s studio. She worked on a song with her and then actually made a recording of my daughter singing that song. She loved the camp and we loved the end product. I immediately signed her up for voice and guitar lessons. My daughter has progressed far more with her music than with her previous studio and I
attribute that to Kimberly herself. She is extremely talented with many years of music experience but also has a wonderful way with the children. A great deal of patience along with a kind spirit.
Lastly yet most heartfelt, she worked with my daughter on a song for her schools Variety Show and volunteered to accompany her on the piano! It was wonderful, I can’t say enough!!
Kimberly Steele Studios is like no other in the area! Whenever special direction on music lessons was requested, Kimberly Steele has always been able to respond above and beyond our expectations. Thanks to having a recording studio and music theory know-how, there is nothing this music lesson’s studio cannot provide to the interested student. Any motivated student is sure to succeed in this nurturing and extremely knowledgable environment. My whole family feels very fortunate to have been told about Kimberly Steele Studio.
My daughter has been taking lessons with Kim for about a year. Kim is amazingly talented and able to keep students engaged. This is the exact experience any one interested in improving their voice should be looking for! It is money WELL spent!

Simply Fantastic , they have been handling all my service needs for many years and i couldnt be happier with the quality AND the price .
Pop’s did a great job on my Taylor 314ce. I’ll be back . . .
Had been looking for a Guild D-55 for a while. Bought from them for a great price and in excellent condition! Fast shipping and a smooth buying experience!
They are more of a acoustic guitar place not really a place for bass players .
***EDIT***
So, I am knocking down my review from five stars to three; due to my most recent experience a couple months after the first one. So I reached backout to buy another guitar (place order) as I really wanted an AD22e or another model I can’t remember, but after confirming they could place the order I let them know that I wanted the AD22e and to provide me the full price so we could close the deal and they went silent, mind you I didn’t even get a copy of the receipt from my AD27e that never came which I had also requested from the last conversation.
I did finally get my guitar ordered but I had a national retailer place the order. I was disappointed I didn’t hear back from Tobias Music about completing the purchase and obtaining a copy of the receipt for my AD27e that never came.
** original **
Just bought an AD27e (Taylor) from them after finding it for sale online. it was a great buying experience. I’m a lefty, buying guitars online is the norm, and most of the time guitars I buy take a day or two to pack and ship. we had a few emails back and forth and they were quick to respond and very professional. These guys had it packed and shipped the same day, and I didn’t place my order until after lunch; that’s service.
They also took the time to dial the guitar in; it came with the action set and was tuned ready to play out of the box. Paul did a great job and really made this buying experience easy, and hassle free. I’ll have to check back often to see what other lefty guitar they get in. If I have the chance, I will buy from them again.
