I have been a drummer for 28 years and recently took up guitar lessons for my tenth time or so. I have never had an easier instructor to work with than Greg.
I also had my autistic nephew sign up and it has been an amazing turn in his life. Greg taught him a small song his first day, this drive him to love going and socialize. Now my nephew says Greg is the nicest guy he knows and can’t wait for lessons.
Greg is real, he is empathic and extremely polite . He listens to what you want to play and helps push you while keeping at a pace you can achieve. Now I’m taking vocal and guitar lessons and I’ve never had better instruction.
Also his prices are the best I’ve ever seen for professional lessons.
Very knowledgeable staff
Great way to learn an instrument

I drove to Nampa to have one of my guitars professionally set up to my liking. Rick did a masterful job in just over an hour while I ran some errands.
Replaced my bridge with a bone upgrade (I provided) but he had to do some unexpected engineering and strategic grinding to get a perfect fit.
Lowered the action, and adjusted the neck relief with the truss rod. Sounds and plays great and I haven’t stopped playing it since I got her home.
He’s an all around great guy and knowledgeable musician. Check out some of his tasty musical inventory and he’s always down for a spontaneous in-store jam.
A musicians’ musician!
Super friendly service , would highly recommend.
Rick is awesome. He sets up all the guitars himself before putting them out for sale. Great little shop.
Rick is a great guy, and there’s always a gem or two hanging on the wall. Good prices, too!
I had Rick set up my guitar. He did a Fantastic job. Fast and reliable. One day service. I would Recommend him all who needs guitar service. AAA++++
Last Saturday I took my most prized possession to Rick, I paid to have a set up and new strings put on my Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute pro. When I got it home I pulled it out and wanted to play it. I noticed right off the bat that Rick took a Utility knife or some other tool and shaved off the binding all around the fret board The fret board has gouges all the way around and the frets stick out and gouge your fret hand when you try to play it. My guitar is completely ruined! I haven’t slept in several days I’m so pissed. I in no way implied, asked for or mentioned that he do this to my guitar. I can’t even open the case it makes me so sick! I would not recommend Rick to anyone again. Rudy Rodriguez Nampa Idaho

Es muy buena tienda encuentras mucha variedad como para el DJs
This place is sweet.
I personally have never met Derek before this encounter.
Derek was contracted by a third party to transfer the piano that has been in my family for about 60 years to their home. Derek showed up and politely identified who he was and why he was there. He was very courteous to everyone in the home. His personal appearance was very professional. He quickly adapted to my homes flooring challenges. In one move I made in the past I saw 4 men struggle to transport this piano into my home. Derek did the job by himself with alacrity. He quickly assessed the piano for tuning and function. He smartly and gently answered my questions about the piano. He made the piano transport into his trailer in about 5 minutes; about 10 minutes from arrival to departure from my home. I was/am totally impressed with Derek’s ability, knowledge, politeness and professionalism. And though I did not pay him for this service I highly recommend Derek for this type work. He is easily worth what you will pay him to work for you.
I aspire to Derek’s excellent portrayed example of what I consider personal qualities of Christ Jesus. Thank you Derek!
Quedé impactado del surtido con el que cuentan,de hecho un amigo realizó una compra, se llevó una Tarola
great customer service, good selection, decent prices but the store feels extremely cramped and overstocked.
Very helpful
Mr Dorsey is very rude! He is very condescending when he talks to people. I’m surprised he gets much business but it’s probably due to there not bring many options for music stores.
There’s not many music places in Nampa so we figured we would check this spot out. My son loves guitars and he loves to look around in this store. However there is a blond lady that wears glasses that works there that is so very rude. She never says hello when my kids go in there and she treats them like a nuisance unless she is under the impression that they’re going to buy something expensive. Having worked in customer service for years I don’t appreciate her horrible customer service. Everyone is a potential customer and you never know what kind of day a person can be having so you should treat everyone kind. Unbelievable. There’s one guy named Brandon that is very kind to my son and my son enjoys conversation with him. Other than that I would definitely not recommend this place. Overpriced and rude customer service.
Ok

Address: 513 W Karcher Rd, Nampa, ID 83651 , Washington County , Idaho , United States
Originally I was unhappy with the outcome of the service I had received. I put this in a review and immediately got a call from the owner of Dunkley music!! Mark took the time to listen to my frustrations and quickly remedied the situation, even better than I hoped or expected. I am stunned at the level of customer service, the care for the community, and the individual attention I was given from each of the employees I had contact with. I can’t say enough how impressed I am with the way this business is run. It’s no wonder they are a foundational part of the Idaho business community. Thank you so much Dunkley music…. I’m almost speechless ❤️
Visited the Nampa store for the first time today and found the piano books I needed right away. Shelby came over to me when she was done with another customer and she was very helpful and has a great personality. I will be coming again in the future.
Very good service! I Felt very welcome and she wants to help.
Would not recommend. Very unwelcome vibes. Zero chill music store vibes lady just wanted us to leave the second we got ther. The lady I dealt with was rude and tried to gouge me for my money.
9. Welch Music Center
Address: 12516 Fairview Ave, Boise, ID 83713 , Washington County , Idaho , United States
My go-to music store! I’ve been going to Welch for many years – from when I was a child in piano lessons, to now as an adult and piano teacher – and they have always been great. This is where I go for sheet music/books, and pianos. I’ve purchased 3 different Yamaha pianos here, and the whole process – including delivery – has always gone smoothly. Highly recommend!
Everybody at Welsch Music was great to work with! I was shopping for a very special piano and the folks at Welsch Music put in that extra effort to ensure I purchased the instrument I really wanted. They listened carefully to my needs, worked around my schedule and provided great options. I am now the proud owner of a Yamaha C6X and couldn’t be happier!!
I just want to thank everybody here at the Welch music center. What’s music center for your service was excellent and you helped answer any questions or concerns that I had during my visit. I will be using you for any needs that my children have moving forward forward when it comes in regards to music. Thanks again for outstanding service.
It apparently takes them 3 days just to put on 4 strings on a violin. Cool and pretty stuff just I think their taking their own time.
Knowledge and friendly people with out the hovering around constantly asking if you need anything.
Awesome baby grand pianos and many other instruments, very friendly staff
Do not youse there piano moving service. They chipped a good chunk of my piano, and didn’t take any responsibility for the incident! Go to Dorsey music, or any other store! JUST DONT LET WELCH MUSIC MOVE YOUR PIANO!
Rented a cello. The gave me student cello. Didn’t want to add note stickers on but gave me a pack for 8.00. This was the worst instrument I have ever seen. It could not be tuned. And the sound was pretty bad. I took it back in 3 days asked for a refund to which I received a prompt NO. Then I said to the man at the counter if you give this cello to a kid it’s going to turn him or her off to playing it. I imagined he would say I will take a look at it. But instead he came out swinging and proceeded to tell me off. I felt upset and hurt somewhat when I left. Went to Dunkley music they have better instruments and kinder people working there. They offered to add the stickers on without me asking. That was an easy 70.00 for Welch!
RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Great help and service. Instruments were priced Right and in great condition for being used.
They don’t sell reeds…
Good shop. Needs more stuff.
I dropped off my amp to get the boost and reverb fixed in August 2019. Over a year later and I still don’t have my amp. I’ve stopped by several times and tried to help find the parts needed. They won’t answer or return my calls so stopping by is the only way to check in. It’s been perpetually “a couple weeks” away from being done for a year. Unbelievably bad service. Never ever rely on them for amp repair.
Sell used stuff.
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
12. Blue Rider Music & Instrument Repair
Address: 595 W Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646 , Washington County , Idaho , United States
My family has been going here for years for good reason! These folks do great work and have the best dogs. I highly recommend them.
This company really cares about their instruments and their customer service. They take great care of both.
They were friendly and helpful. I rented a piccolo from them and it was great quality for a low price compared to Dunkley’s Music. I will definitely go to them for my next rental or if I need my horn repaired. They know how to fix and rent out a huge variety of horns. I was very impressed and will go back.
Helpful staff! They got my son’s trumpet soldered and shined!
I need a trumpet mute and I don’t know if Blue Rider has one! Can someone help?

Tanya is fantastic! I just purchased my third ukulele from her. Knowledgeable, helpful, workable. Great experience every time.
After working for Music & Arts in Austin TX, I am very particular about my musical help! Dunkley music showed exceptional customer service and let me speak with musicians that shared the same passion. Thanks again! I will definitely be back!
The two gentlemen that moved an Organ from my friends house to my house were absolute professionals not only were they strong they made sure the Organ was up and running and anything they move they put back
they were an absolute pleasure to have here so again thank you Dunkleys these two gentlemen were just “awesome”
Good selection, helpful staff.
It’s alright. If you’re looking for Orchestra stuff I would recommend Telford and Sons.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
Staff have very poor customer service skills, their attitude was down right rude. My issue was not resolved- despite being a customer for 8 years. It seems loyalty no longer matters to Mark Dunkley.
Best wishes to you.
I hesitate to share this review because I’m sure they have quality product and talented professionals at Dunkley. However, both times I have visited the Boise location the customer service was non existent. I won’t speculate too much why (although I have my suspicions) but being completely ignored (not even made eye contact) by multiple employees for the entire duration of the visit is unacceptable service. I’ve heard from other people who’ve had the same experience. I’ll continue going to Dorsey music in Nampa for this reason.
Update: Just noticed I had a response. Must have missed the email on it. I hear what you are saying but telling me October when school starts in August is a no go.
I appreciate the response, but it has not changed my mind. If I cannot get service when I need it then I don’t need to spend other money there either. My review has done nothing for your rating. Just lets people know where we stand if we do not purchase or rent an instrument through you.
Flute Maintenance
If you bought your flute or are renting it from Dunkley, you are golden for maintenance. If you did not, they do not want your business. At least that is what I was told today when trying to take a flute in for maintenance. I called about a week before school let out to ask about this and was told to bring it in after a music camp. It was stated that it was not purchased through them at that time and they were willing to take it and do maintenance. It would be about three weeks.
Due to the large number of instruments for school I was told they would not accept any unless it was purchased or rented from them, but if I wanted to wait until October they would take it at that point. Shouldn’t school instruments be done before October???
Well thanks for your honesty and to the point wording of your message. I used to like coming in here, guess since my flute maintenance money is no good here neither is my other money.
Thanks for the direct message that if you are not a Dunkley instrument owner, you are not important.
