great selection and prices. the owner was super nice and helpful.. instead of heading toward downtown atlanta go east and shop here.
Thank you! Wonderful customer service, great atmosphere highly recommend going here for all your vinyl record needs!
Jimmy has a great collection including the classics but also a lot of newer and more current artists! He also knows a lot of rock lore and can tell you some great stories
3. Oconee Music
Address: 1410 Greensboro Hwy Ste. C-D, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
My son wanted to take on piano. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon, and even though they were closed, the co-owner spoke with us, and set up a trial lesson with Mr. Tom.
Tom, is an amazing teacher. He is patient, fun, energetic with my son, which makes learning something new so much fun. Tom, comes out after every session to tell me what they went over, as well as what to work on. (Even when I was not at the last session, he messaged me to update me on my child’s progress)
I am extremely pleased with Oconee Music, and would recommend them to anyone who would want to pick up music.
Kristin played the piano at our wedding at the State Botanical Gardens, and did a marvelous job! She has a great repertoire of both traditional and classical pieces, and played our selections beautifully! I would not hesitate to recommend Kristen to anyone needing a lovely pianist for a special event. Thank you, Kristin!
My daughter has been taking piano and guitar lessons here for several years and she loves it! Ms. Amber is a great teacher!
So, this was a 5 day morning camp. My child made many new and like minded friends…she had a wonderful time. There was an adoreable recital at last day of camp. The ladies are very nice….and they seem to enjoy the kids very much. My child loved camp…and liked both ladies.
It was advertised online (and in a phone conversation) as a working camp. No way to really tell how that went…as…
We were never provided with a syllabus, or schedule of any sort regarding daily activities…or camp goals…etc…and we were not allowed to remain there in order to see the activity, ever. It was a strictly drop off/pick up arrangement. There has been no recap or assessment regarding our child’s work…progress… or places she might like to focus on improving…since end of camp.
There were a couple of young teens….majority of campers were very young….and it appeared that the more experienced and novices participants were all lumped together.
Seeing that we werent allowed to have any insight into what was happening…
It would be extremely hard to make a fair assesment about rating the camp on what, if anything, we feel our child learned that appears to be even slightly equivalent to the money we spent.
Totally didnt love the 3 hr wait each day in Watkinsville…Watkinsville is a really nice little town (emphasis on little)….having said that….hasnt got much to offer to do to kill 3 hrs from 8:45 AM – noon….5 days in a row.
4. Athena Quartet
Address: 25 N Main St, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Athena quartet played the music for our wedding ceremony. They were so easy to communicate and work with, prompt, and really just masters at what they do. The quartet added some extra elegance to our ceremony, and all of our guests talked about how beautiful the music was!
After multiple great experiences with Classic City Strings, I can say that they’re the best! Whether it is a concert, worship, recording, or other setting, these musicians are always right on spot. Professional in every way, yet pleasant and easy-going, they get the job done with musical excellence and aplomb. Thank you for all your kindness and beautiful music-making, Jennifer, Alison, and Eunice!
Beautiful music for our wedding and so easy to work with – what more can you ask for?
Classic City Strings performed the music for our Wedding this October – and it really set the tone for the entire event – live string music! Our guests loved it and it was so memorable. I would highly recommend them for anyone planning a Wedding or other event!
5. Guitar Center
Address: 1791 Oconee Connector Suite 450, Athens, GA 30606 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Super nice staff. Great place to trade in any old gear.
Didn’t have what they said on line at store. O well guess u can’t trust a computer.
Well, we only went in for a sustain pedal. The young guy at the counter helped me out. But then I realized the part of the pedal I was supposed to connect the piano to was to big. So i went in again & found an attachment. So yeah, 🙂
Smaller than most, but had all the essentials and more.
Drove from Atlanta for a used guitar in “great” condition. Not only did electronics not work, but guitar had cracks in binding and finish completely worn off on portion of back of guitar. If that’s “great” condition I’d hate to see “good.” Waste of time, money, gas, etc.
I seemed this interested in making sales
Lots of cheap garbage guitars on the walls and Bevis and Butthead behind the counter.
I am glad I took the time to visit this store, it convinced me that there is no reason to ever go back.
6. Attic Treasures Antiques
Address: 19 N Main St, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
real dang cool shop. you can spend hours in here looking at all the history
These are good people. Interesting store.
So much to see and the owners are so nice. I love to look at there stuff!
Lots of jewelry, military, indian artifacts, and huge smoking pipe selection…no furniture
After waiting for quite some time while he waited on another customer it was obvious he was more interested in closing than trying to answer my questions or making another sale.
After receiving a nice reply from the owners wife she explained to me that she was unable to help him in the shop that day and that he was pretty tired and probably stressed after a long day. After reconsideration I would want someone to be more understanding about a situation and not make snap judgements that could cause problems for a business that may not deserve a bad review. I would like to apologize for my curt response in my review and encourage others to check out Attic Treasures Antiques because they certainly have a lot of unusual things.
Very interesting place to stop by.
They sell KKK robes and hoods. Just burn them! There’s nothing positive that can be contributed by keeping such things for sale. It’s not important to history to sell these. The only place where they would be relevant for historical means would be in a museum to our countries racist past and present.
This has nothing to do with being comfortable with history, I don’t study history to be comfortable with it, I study it to learn from it. That whole discussion is not involved in the sale of memorabilia for the most violently racist organization in US history. If you’re selling Klan robes and hoods means anyone can purchase them including the extremely violent racists that exist today so they may bring that history back to life for their own purposes.
If you want to have a genuine discussion about this part of our countries history then give them to a museum that will use them to discuss that. Profit has nothing to do with what you’re defending.
I understand putting kkk robes in a MUSEUM to teach history, but making a PROFIT from the robes?! That’s DISGUSTING. Even if you aren’t racist you should still acknowledge what people can and WILL do with those robes.
Shut this place down. Or better yet, burn the robes.
7. Musician’s Warehouse
Address: 245 N Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30601 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Visited this store yesterday for the first time and had a phenomenal experience. Me Ed was absolutely awesome in how he treated me and my family. This store was not pushy at all and left me be while I looked around and played several different guitars. Then as I had decided Mr Ed made sure it exactly what I wanted. I had a great experience here and will be returning. I buy a lot of guitars and this was by far the most pleasurable and easy buying experience I’ve ever had. Thank you Mr Ed and your staff for being so friendly and helpful.
Musician’s Warehouse is a GREAT place to shop for musical instruments & related items – Ed (& team) WANT return business – they go above & beyond to deliver to their customers – we recently (on-line) purchased a used Takamine Electric/Acoustic guitar from MW – they delivered with an affordable price / excellent packing & super-fast shipping – 11 out of 10 . . . Thanks Ed!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very good selection definitely on my list of go to musical stores for strings, keyboards and drums.
Very nice store but not a great variety of guitars
Check out the new location!
Pretty good shop if you are in Athens. Much better selection of gear than their competitors in the area.
Poor selection. If you like grandpa guitars this is the place. Wouldnt recomend to any modern guitar players.
Dude I’m not sure what happened. The first floor is desolate (empty for everybody that’s currently reading this while dunk). I understand social distancing, but I’m I am attending Warehouse, I do not care about the current situation, I’m here to rave. Open the first floor for a mosh pit.
Really wanted to like this company. I was cheated and conned, and after a week with zero communication I contacted them. They fumbled around for another day or two then stated they couldn’t find the item. I was left empty handed and confused. No attempt at finding the item or ordering another. Nothing. Zip. C’mon guys!
8. KB Voiceovers – Kelley Buttrick
Address: 2061 Experiment Station Rd Suite 301, PMB 527, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Y’all act like ppl can’t smoke like it’s a store they do what they want and it’s Georgia and what do you expect, me personally I love family dollar. And y’all cat like everyone can be perfect grow up family dollar is amazing
Can always find nice birthday and other cards here at great prices. Gift cards too. In and out time is quick and easy.
The cashier Ms.Lisa is awesome and she was a blessing when one was needed…. Thank you.
Its family dollar. There are a million different places just like this. Why do I buy things here that I can get at a grocery store or department store? To save a few bucks and the staff. The folks who work there are the kind of people you don’t mind stopping in and getting a few things you forgot or want to save money on. You can tell they are conscious of their work environment because it’s cleaner, neater, and better stocked than other stores in the same category.
Staff is friendly and I can usually find decent stuff
Ever notice how Family Dollar and Dollar General stores hire smokers? Always an employee standing at the door smoking a cigarette. And the stores are a mess. More time needs to go in to giving attention to the stores. Smoking and cell phones overused. Non productive!
10. Redbox
Address: 2080 Hog Mountain Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Incredible prices and fairly large selection of mens clothing. Left with an entire outfit worth of clothes and spent less than $20! (Everything except the shoes)
A unique thrift store, very peaceful, nice people here, and has good prices.
12. Walls Of Books Watkinsville
Address: 1011 Stonebridge Pkwy #105, Watkinsville, GA 30677 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Love this place. A great selection! I stop every time I travel the I-85 corridor.
Great books at a fair trade price and any titles you’re looking for, those ladies are happy to help you with!
A clean and well enlightened place. Great customer service and selection.
I’ve come many times, usually with some books to trade in. (I pick up books on CL and free yard sales, bring the best to the store to get credit and buy some books. I currently have nearly $700 in credit haha because of how much I drop off versus how much I buy as I bring a literal carload at a time.)
Patricia, always a pleasure to talk to and is such a delight and is happy to look at anything I bring in and usually takes all of it.
Robert (I think that’s his name, Justin is in Commerce and he gives me the names) when he is there, I am getting to the point of leaving the store because he often gives some weird snarky comments asking if I run a bookstore or something. I didn’t see him last two times I went in, but I think he might be the one who rotates between stores. He will take 1-2 items per 20ish books so now I don’t even bother asking to trade books in when he is there.
This is a small bookstore, I think bigger than Athens, but way smaller than Commerce. Mostly fiction. Non-fiction (what I read) is in the front and in the back corner.
Great concept for readers. Find books, read books, exchange for other books. Good people, good selection – all good.
More Bookstores are always a good thing! Gently read books, at a discount. Would be 5 stars if they were open on Sundays
13. Greer Amps
Address: 160 Winston Dr Unit 11, Athens, GA 30607 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
You won’t find a better tone or service from a boutique than Greer. I’ve had my light-speed overdrive on my board for years and have no plans to remove or replace it anytime soon. There’s a reason Zac Brown Band, Walk The Moon, Sheryl Crow, and many more bands’ guitarists use gear by Greer.
World class operation! Nick and his guys are the best!
14. Classic City Vintage Guitars
Address: 149 Oneta St Unit 6A1, Athens, GA 30601 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
Dylan Keel has done a lot of work for me! So far, he has reset the neck and refretted a 70’s ES-325, refretted & deep cleaned a ‘60 Gretsch Tennessean, setup multiple guitars, and added missing binding, swapped pickup positions that were riveted, polished entire guitar, and setup my vintage Harmony Bobkat. The work was incredible and worth every penny each time! He’s the best in the area and always focuses on relationship instead of money.
Great place and shop. I have bought a few pieces from here.
Fried Okra
Classic City Guitars is everything you’d want in a shop- awesome used guitars for a good deal, friendly conversation and a beautiful space.
Dylan bailed me out on tour and did an emergency fret repair, and he expertly and quickly solved my fret issues. Easily one of the best repair techs I have ever met, and I say that as a repair tech myself. This is hands down THE spot in Athens, and the only sad part is that there isn’t a Classic City in every town.
Highest recommendation possible- if your guitar can be saved, Classic City is the place and Dylan is amazing
15. Best Buy
Address: 1791 Oconee Connector #110, Athens, GA 30606 , Watkinsville , Georgia , United States
They we’re extremely helpful. I was looking for a power supply for my PC. And the employee asked me a few questions about what I needed and how new my computer was. He suggested I call the provider and they were able to supply me with a free one since it was still under warranty. Best Buy, with price matching, friendly and knowledgeable employees, it’s no wonder they are the number one electronic store.
Nice store. Organized well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are clean.
An honorable atmosphere where the staff, courteous and professional, were eagerly awaiting to assist the customers within their shopping needs
Good service and great help
Friendly and helpful staff, but the radio install bay needs help. They are all nice folks who want to help, but their install process is terrible. My observation is they are double booked by the online site and don’t seem to have a way to schedule install that better suits the staff and space at this store. Plan on 3 to 6 hours for any install. They will say 90 minutes, and that is lofty. They don’t have the staff or space available to make that happen.
One great feature of this location, the online pick up is fantastic. What a time saver and so friendly.
They don’t stand behind their price match guarantee.
Could not get any customer service! Employees walking and skipping like children. Unprofessional
I was in the store for greater than one hour. I also asked for help with headphones from two people (I needed to buy more than one pair from the case), but couldn’t be helped for some reason. This store is very close to home, but maybe service is better at the Buford location??? This makes me sad because I’d hate to see another store close in this area .
TOP NOTCH!! This guy knows his stuff. Your treasured instruments are in good hands with this guy. A++
My guitars were in good hands with Skye. I will continue to entrust him with his expertise in the future. The whole experience from the first call too when I received my guitars back from service was transparent and smooth. He really knows what he is doing and isn’t hesitant to give his honest opinion even if that means he might lose a sale. How refreshing. Especially in this day in age. I highly recommend that you entrust the “Guitar Doctor Delivered” with your guitars for any repairs, upgrades, etc.
