I had a great experience buying a guitar from Gravity. Helpful and friendly folks and a really laid back attitude. It probably helped that I did my research and knew what I wanted to pay for the guitar before I started. I felt completely at home with what seemed to be honest, straight up folks trying to cut a good deal for both of us.
Great place with great prices. The guys there know their gear and will go out of their way to help you. Highly recommend
Employees seemed very nice and reasonable. Good selection of used gear. They were honest and understood my position on a guitar I was thinking of selling, cant ask for much more.
La atención es buena , pero no ay quien te atienda en español y les falta un técnico para probar el equipo que están vendiendo
Nice place with good prices on used gear. Would’ve been 5 star if their trade-ins were a little more competitive price wise but still worth checking for deals.
Always a good experience selling and buying!
Place seems to only be good for buying and selling gear. Don’t call expecting to be able to speak with anyone who actually knows or is willing to discuss adjustments to gear or instruments because they won’t be able to help. Think only sales men and no actual musicians or subject matter experts, or at least none that care to help.
Desolate shop. Only guitars. DONT take your music gear here
Buyer beware!! Absolutely terrible way to do business.Purchased faulty amp head from Gravity music gear through Reverb. Would not reimburse me $50.00 to ship it back No communication after sale. Ignored messages .i did get my purchase price refunded but not before contacting Reverb support. They had it posted on EBay also. I chose to go through Reverb to save them some money. Never again! I never leave bad feedback…. Congrats…you are the first.

3. Monarch Accordians/Yma Music
Address: 9255 Washington St, Thornton, CO 80229 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Wonderful experience! They were super friendly, helpful and knowable. The owner was able to answer all of my questions. I’ve never had a bad experience coming here.
The teacher is awesome as a person, musician, teacher, Alice is the best, my son is been great on piano lessons thanks to Alice.
Big fan of Wedgles! Very cool shop with tons of unique vintage gear, plus the basics like guitar strings.
I have been coming here for 5 years, and the service and guitar tech are the best in town. These guys always work with me weather I’m getting a loan or picking up a new guitar. I have purchased all kinds of things here from my wifes drum-set & engagement ring, to a few different amps, and about half a dozen guitars – even my banjo! These guys know SO much about good music and exemplary service, and I always have great success in finding what I need here. I recommend this store to any musician that wants to support good people! (:
I’ve had nothing but good experiences at Wedgles both buying and selling/trading. They have so much cool unique gear, I’m like a kid in a candy shop there! The staff is super nice and knowledgeable and will let you play with anything in the store for as long as you want. They are always willing to make a deal, which I appreciate.
This is the local pawn shop for your instrumental needs. Great music items
cool music
Great little wheeln’ dealn’ music store. Have picked up some great used drum mics here. Not the greatest hours though, they close right at 5 everyday and closed on Sundays
Nice customer service for a short while when I was trying out a few instruments. When I decided not to buy they were very upset and rude. The guy complained that they let me try the instruments for free… I’m not going to buy an instrument unless I play it first. Very unprofessional.
When I want to drop several hundred dollars on my kids to have a variety of instruments, I cannot do it here. The staff found it more amusing to scold me over my kids, who touched nothing and were on their best behavior, then to let me browse their selection of rarer and certainly overpriced instruments. Why can’t these employees review their approach and be, I don’t know, FRIENDLY? I came to spend money, not be made to feel unwelcome because my kids are present. Over 17 years in Denver, and I walk away from this place angry and empty handed every time. It just hasn’t changed for the better. This is a “boys’ club” type of pawn shop, not to be taken seriously. I was not taken seriously or treated with any respect here.
Awful experience.
Guitars are just broken. Never think about buying anything in this store. Prices are 200% what they should be.
A huge assortment of instruments to learn your new favorite skill!
These guys were great! My son joined band this year and we needed to get him a saxophone. I was frustrated from talking to other music stores. When I called I talked to Patrick on the phone, he was knowledgeable and polite. My son and I went into the store to purchase the saxophone we talked about. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything. When I asked about additional itemsI felt like everyone went out of there way to help get them and make recommendations. I wasn’t left to figure it out myself. They talked to my son and made him apart of the process. We will be going back in the future for our music needs.
Friendly service with all your music needs
Organized and clean nice staff they don’t buy instruments
I am a music teacher. This is my go to for lesson books for my students.
Was able to buy a great violin
Walked in, no hello, no what can I help you with. Walk over to case where violins are which is right in front of the 2 men and I guess I must have been a ghost because I wasn’t acknowledged. So not even going to waste my time.
Well 6 or so years ago my daughter got her violin from here and everything was fine. She stopped after two years. My youngest son has been playing at it for two and a half years, so we needed a larger violin. Now they want to sell him one. I have had that come up in the past but I always said who knows if the will keep going. Well today they bring out this thing of beauty. My son wants it. It’s only for sale. Oh and the one he brought home, he thought it was a viola we had to look it up. Badly out of tune.
Side bar we could buy it, but the kid never practices and isn’t good. My daughter was way better. Not to be a you know what.
Anyway I ask will you buy it back if he decides he wants to stop. They say no. So we keep renting. What the heck am I supposed to do with a violin once’s he is done? Nothing sells like it use to but really of it was that great why not buy it back. So all in all if this kids goes on to be some great violin guy, then I will buy him one. But a kid nope. I guess after six kids you know how way to many things work. So hey store buy them back sell them used.
Would not recommend.
We rented an instrument through a school program and did not deal through Music and Arts directly but when it came time to return we needed to process through them. When attempting to return we were placed on extended holds, multiple times until finally hanging up. After leaving messages each time we finally received a call back and we’re able to process the return but we’re told “typically they do not provide a means of return this way”, guess they expected us to rent forever. The instrument still needed to be driven to a physical location and dropped off, after 2 attempts to visit during their stated hours to find the store closed we finally found someone there with the door unlocked but the closed sign out (this was during their working hours posted on the door). We were told by a Music and arts employee that they were performing maintenance and they could not take the return, after explaining the situation their tone did not change, and after back and forth arguing I was told to leave the instrument on the floor. Hopefully it gets logged and properly documented.
Definitely one of the most challenging businesses I’ve ever interacted with.
10. Monkton Guitars
Address: 1505 W 1st Ave A, Broomfield, CO 80020 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Monkton Guitars is a really cool guitar shop. I had some setup work here for 2 guitars and could not be happier with the work. They also have a nice selection of Guitars and the owner is super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Monkton Guitars is a welcome addition to Broomfield.
Great shop with exceptional, personal service!
Much better experience than shopping at Guitar Center!
5th grade is expensive, but Dave saved my bacon.
My daughter just entered her last year of elementary school, and for her music study wished to take up bass guitar. I didn’t know where to go, but was referred to Monkton by Rocky Mountain Music Repair, who are endorsed by the Boulder Valley School District.
When we arrived, Dave took time to help my daughter find not just a guitar, but THE guitar she had been dreaming about – we were even lucky enough to get it in the color of her choice – the selection was outstanding and the experience incredible.
On top of that, Dave gave us a great deal; I paid only a fraction of what I might have anywhere else. He has even offered to provide an amp to my daughter’s school so she doesn’t have to haul one back and forth.
I can tell that Dave does what he does because music brings him joy, and he wants to bring more joy to the world. His enthusiasm is contagious and his knowledge incredbile. I can’t wait to go back for our next guitar need. This is our new favorite store!
Best shop around!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
Fast and efficient for rental for a trumpet for a student in school.
Brian, the owner, is a World class Musical Instrument Repair Technician as well as a really nice guy. I have real work and repairs done by this establishment.
It took a while and it’s pretty expensive, but they did a great job fixing up my horn, definitely worth it.
Looking for a bell cover for wife’s French Horn. Wife got a call today from Rocky Mountain Music that bell covers came in today. And can pick up anytime.
I was originally disappointed in sub-par work, but I’m pleased with the final outcome. The tech who made the mistakes no longer works there and the owner made things right in a jiffy. I give the business proper credit and thanks for that.
I paid for repairs to two trombones including a slide job—tricky work on my antique King Liberty 2B. Pandemic issues prevented me from testing at pick-up, but the tech showed me the results at the counter. Cosmetic dent repairs weren’t as good as I’d hoped, but I let that go. The slide dragged hard and remained very noisy, but the tech assured me it was perfect and only appeared suspicious because he’d just stripped it clean. “It’s perfect; I promise.” It was an hour before closing on the eve of a long holiday and my family was waiting in the car, so I accepted the excuse, took the horns, and left.
When I broke out that horn months later, it was unplayable. The slide was still totally dented, the new end stops pushed out the slide so far that the lock had to be loosened to the verge of falling off to hold it shut, and the extra length made it play flat with the tuning slide fully closed.
I discovered this late Friday night before a Saturday gig where I’d planned to use it, and I left a 1-star review lamenting that I’d trusted that tech and neglected to test it sooner, and that I was sunk since they’d just closed for the weekend.
To my shock, the owner called me first thing Saturday morning and offered to make it right. He fixed it and returned it to me in time for the gig that afternoon.
I wrote that I’d update the review if they made it right. They did, I did, and I think we’re all happy now.
I will definitely give them my business again—especially since the tech who made the mistakes is no longer on the payroll.
Terrible establishment. Extremely unfriendly, unknowledgeable staff and very over-priced.
13. Widget Studios
Address: 981 E 70th Ave Unit J, Denver, CO 80229 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Super cool and convenient spot. I’m new to Denver and I think I found my home base. My drummer kept raving about how dope the drum kit was and everything was super nice! Cool green room to lounge in and we had the place all to ourselves.
Honestly the best hourly rehearsal space in the Denver area, and I’ve been to most of them. I only go to drum and the kit sounds nice, there are great cymbals. Clean, good equipment, stocked with refreshments. Kinda want to keep it to myself but would also love to see it grow lol.
This is an awesome rehearsal space as well as a recording studio.
I highly recommend it, great prices and great people! Everything you need!
14. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Amazing music store! Visiting from out of town and needed clarinet supplies—they had a great selection of woodwind accessories and were so helpful and knowledgeable in their advice. Super-friendly service….I will be back next time I’m in Denver!
Excellent experience. We walked in on a Saturday. They had our trombone figured out in 15 minutes and $15 later. Quality established.
Great customer support and service. Since I only needed guitar strings I thought my visit would be a simple walk-in, get strings, pay, and walk out… But the sales person turned out to be not only very personable and pleasant, but could tell me more than I ever knew about strings from manufacturer to the kinds of metal used in production…
I can only imagine how much help the staff can offer to customers who need assistance with any kind of purchase.
I truly believe that a customer can trust the folks at this small but excellent music store.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Like always the services people were just great.
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
15. Lafayette Music
Address: 1361 Forest Park Cir #106, Lafayette, CO 80026 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Great music store! I was able to find everything I was needing for each instrument I teach: Flute, Piano, Voice and guitar and much more . The staff were extremely helpful while I was looking for Festival music! I LOVE that this music store also has FEDERATION MUSIC organized for piano. It was very, very helpful to a private music teacher like myself! Thank you Lafayette Music! I plan on being a return customer!
Very helpful and timely service with exactly the right music books. Thanks!!
Excellent little music store, knowledgeable staff!
Very wide variety of sheet music and instruments. The new location is a little tight, but it’s nice to still have them around.
Not bad for the only music store in Lafayette
Little music store where you can find mostly everything you need. Most of the employees are nice and helpful for a small store.
I can not believe the level of disrespect I received by attempting to shop in your store. You really should pack up and move out of town. You are only here to exploit the student musicians without supporting the actual musical community. The musicians in this community deserve a much better experience than that which is received from your failing business. Horrible!! So much for supporting local business. You should feel shame.
The owner was rude. I was trying to rent an instrument for my child for school. I felt like they were annoyed with my questions. It seemed that me trying to give them some business was an inconvenience to them. I will not go back.
I had a very semilar experience just like Mark. Lafayette Music clerk sold me a wrong music book for my child’s music class and I returned it. I only wanted to tell them how I got a wrong book, and the owner started to be very offensive and rude saying “So what do you want us to do? Fire her (the clerk who gave me a wrong book)???” and she was checking the book as if there is any damage or tear…
I thought it would be their benefit to correct their information so they will not get any returns again. I was not upset or anything. They treated me like I was making a such a big deal… so I tried to talk to them that is not my intension and repeatedly told them I was only letting them know the mistake they made. She would not listen to me at all and raised her voice so others in the store started to see what is going on and store. I am not going back to this store.
16. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Nick (Guitar Gutter) did a big job for my guitar. I had an Evertune bridge installed to replace the Floyd Rose it originally had. We tuned the guitar’s setup together and it now plays and sounds flawlessly. The guitar was done ahead of the initial projected schedule, too.
Best service in this category
First Visit. Nice small shop, great pedal selection and some nice guitar brands (Reverend, G&L among others). Really friendly folks.
Very knowledgeable staff and unique instruments
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
17. Avalanche Recording Studios
Address: 10650 Irma Dr UNIT 27, Northglenn, CO 80233 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Fantastic facility with amazing vintage gear! It’s run by a multi-platinum record producer who knows how to get the sound you want.
In 1988 I was in a local group called, “Creativedge” and had the fine opportunity to record at Avalanche. This is a World Class Studio commissioned by many Major Label Recording Artists, some of which were my favorites! The studio has an exquisite layout and artful design and I instantly fell in love with the soundboard and amazing control room. I could not believe how incredible my drums and everything else sounded here! Really great experience and the best of memories!
18. Free minds flow
Address: 9189 Gale Blvd, Thornton, CO 80260 , Welby , Colorado , United States
Great music store! Knowledgeable owner and staff. A great plays for kids to learn to play music too!
I was not necessarily planning on buying an instrument while on a roadtrip with an already packed car. But the owner is a great guy and the shop has a great collection of instruments so I couldn’t resist packing the car up just a little more!
Walked in to find a small group playing. Bass, two guitars, mandolin. I grabbed a guitar, my buddy grabbed a banjo and we joined right in. Incredible. Very friendly and helpful owner eager to provide the best experience possible. Purchased a guitar and having it shipped to my home in Louisiana. Can’t WAIT to get it!! Thanks Doug!
Absolutely rude and awful shop keep. “Just leave me alone ” is not what one expects when inquiring about a guitar. Came in looking for a mandolin and had to leave right away. Very upsetting. Never visiting again.
Drove 600 miles to buy a uke from this guy. He was in the middle of a lesson when we walked in and was immediately peeved. I picked up the uke from the bottom shelf and it slid out of my fingers 4″ to the floor. He barked, “Be careful!”. We walked out.
