Excellent guitar store, have bought all my guitars and have them serviced here.
Impressive instrument selections!
Thank you for standing up for America and our individual rights to believe what we will.
Very helpful associates!!
Very friendly. Super knowledgeable.
I brought my bass for a setup and was told that their setup was within ‘limits’ of what was possible, was charged 80$ for minimal improvement. My local luthier did a better job. They have a wonderful store with a great selection of instruments and serious repair dept. but I wasn’t happy about the repair job.
Nicely done Parkey way to bully an old retired American! Behavior like this would and will never happen in Russia!
Funny how Yelp helps businesses that fire someone who spoke her mind, which the constitution allows and all the right wingers applaud….Yelp may close my profile but I am going to have my say. Yelp does not help business that get unwarranted reviews that they leave up for 11 years, while the great reviews get hidden as NOT RECOMMENDED. Face facts Gryphon…you caved into right wing pressure and do not pretend it is ANYTHING else…funny how all the right wingers on your reviews spouting their nationalist views do not get their reviews removed but those of us calling you out on your hypocritical decisions, have your supports send us vile messages. Good luck…you are going to need it. Just wondering…if Yelp is removing the bad reviews over this controversy, are they also removing the GOOD reviews related to this issue from right wingers applauding your stepping on the constitution?
Cheating.
I once went to the store and looked for a limited version guitar. The sales people told me to leave my phone number and said that it would arrive in two months. I double checked if it would be the exact model and that guy was super confident. After that no one contacted me and I went to the store again two months later. This time they showed me a different model and said that the one I was looking for were not available for a long time.
What a waste of time! I will never deal with them again.
5. Gelb Music

I recently purchased a very special amp from Blues City Music. I had a lot of questions about the function and use of this amp. As this amp was advertised on Reverb, my customer service rep likely was getting many tire kickers. The amp I purchased, a Diesel VH4, is a unicorn amp (hard to find, expensive). In a world of Key board commandos who spend their lives making customer service people live’s miserable, I half expected a pessimistic response to my questions. In fact, on Reverb there were a number of Diesel VH4’s for sale. As part of my do diligence, I reached out to a number of sellers whose attitude seemed to be “buy it, or leave me alone”. This WAS NOT the case with Blues City Music. They took time to answer my questions, reassured me on ease of use and function and made me comfortable spending a lot of my hard earned money. After the sale they immediately shipped my amp and communicated tacking number details to me. Over the course of a few days i watched my package via tacking number cross the Untied States. It acctually arrived a day earlier than expected which was a pleasant surprise. Upon arrival I could tell that Blues City Guitar had packaged my amp with care confirmed when I opened the box and my amp was in perfect condition. I rarely write these reviews as people use reviews to bully retailers but do to the experiences I had tracking down this make and model of amp and the people retailing them i had to acknowledge the effort and ease of doing business with this company. I highly recommend Blues City music and would do business with them again.
If you love musical instruments, you’ll love Gelb.
Very helpful/knowledgeable regarding home studio equipment
I tried going in a few weeks ago, absolutely insane they still require a mask to go in, they had the entrance blocked off with a table and a sign.
Selection is really good. Nice instruments, And I like the atmosphere. A classic old store, kinda historic. A little pricey (for this I blame the insanity of real estate in the area, not them). Some music store staff are great. Some are typical.
I have found that music store workers are mostly of two varieties: the typical kind, who tend to have this undercurrent of rather sexist, judgmental pressure, and those who just love to connect people of all kinds to what they need.
Sigh – this place has both.
Unfortunately, there are a LOT of the typical kind in this world, and female (or otherwise not “Rock Star” types) really feel it. It is like they somehow need to prove that they are more knowledgeable than me, or something. Very tiring. I want to tell them, “look, I know you wanted to be a professional performer and it feels degrading to be working in a music store, and that you feel like selling stuff to female musicians makes you feel even further from your standards of your own self-image. But you really need to heal that, not surround yourself with a bubble of asserted wannabe dominance. It is not helping you at all. this is actually a really cool .”
To be fair, I only really got this attitude a little here, and it was pretty subtle (but there). Everyone else has been fine. But even a little makes it hard to want to come back. I think music store owners need to screen this, and train people out of it. Or better yet, hire some good female staff.
But I do come back, because the location is good and they have good stuff and they are historic and small. I like them overall. And it is very rare to find places that do not have that phenomenon. So they are not losing my business any time soon. I just hope that one issue gets fixed. Everywhere.
Great customer service. Big instrument selection.
Tried to shop here but the entrance was barricaded with a table, alcohol gel, and a sign saying that masks were required to enter.
It’s late August 2022 and covid is as much past history as it likely ever will be. Get a grip or go out of business. Turning potential customers away at this point is crazy.
should be gleb, not gelb.
I bought a speaker from these guys back in June and it failed after 2 uses. They wouldn’t lift a finger to help me even though it was less than 30 days old so I had to send it back myself. Its now the middle of December and I still don’t have a speaker to use.
Long story short don’t waste your money here. They clearly are only in business to make a buck and could care less about their customers.
6. Peninsula Music – Palo Alto Instrument Rentals, Repairs, Lessons

As far as know, this is the only store which sells professional grade brass intruments in the silicon valley. I tried several cornets and bought a Getzen Eterna here. I have been quite satisfied with both the intruments and thestore.
Steve Boughman went out of his way to degrade and mistreat me. The man was incredibly rude and condescending when he tried to sell me a saxophone in poor condition. Worst experience I have ever had in a music store. Disappointed and ashamed as a local musician that these are the types of repair people we have to deal with. Take your business ANYWHERE else.
This place is good if you have a high end musical instrument. I went in to repair my sons trumpet and they basically told me that they wouldn’t service it because it wasn’t a high end thousand dollar instrument. Too bad, I was actually looking to buy him a new intermediate trumpet for his birthday here in the next few months but they will not be getting my business.

Musicians selling instruments couldn’t be a better combo
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Great staff and service. Really good place for wind players. Excellent repair services, too. Check out some of their cool woodwind accessories; for example, they have a good selection of custom clarinet barrels and mouthpieces.
Nice and cozy music madness
Helpful workers
Nice little local shop with good selection and program for kids
Renting instrument here for my kids for years. It has been a 5 star store. They usually have very good service but not this summer. Went there last week. The girl works there does not know much and working kind of rude. She is not helpful or friendly. I will avoid summer next time.
