They were very friendly and had great prices. This will be my regular music shop from now on!
My Mom has not played her violin for well over 45 years. She and my daughter visited The Music Shop for the first time today and were very pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome and down home kindness that were shown to them. The owner helped her string her violin and now she can pursue her hobby once again. She told me, “It made my day and gave me back the gift of music to fill an empty spot I have had for a long, long time!”
Keith was very open and helpful during his purchase of my son’s used drum set. He explained everything clearly and followed through on his statements. Courteous and respectful throughout, he helped make the transaction pleasant. I would definitely return to his shop.
3. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
The best service on the planet. These guys are like music stores used to be
Brought in a trumpet with a stick mouth piece. They were very nice and were able to remove the mouth piece quickly. Great customer service!
We had a great experience at the music shop in Southington. We went in to buy a guitar for our son. Tyler was really helpful and answered all our questions patiently. Thank you Tyler!
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
4. Windsor Music Centre
Address: 95 Poquonock Ave, Windsor, CT 06095 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
Music playing through the store was so pleasant and relaxing. All staff were very helpful on guiding me and my wife on renting a violin for my 8 year old daughter. Prices are reasonable also. Rented a trumpet years ago for my eldest daughter from there. Will continue to go back for my other children if they choose to play an instrument.
Great guys my son is just starting to learn how to play instruments his friend damaged his brass and they where able to take care of everything and had it back the next day in time for him to have it at school for music class
We had them repair/resurrect an old flute for us. Great work at a great price. I recommend the business to all.
It’s okay.
Nice guy and great service so far!
terrible repairment
My grandma brought two ukuleles here to be repaired before she passed away. They were from the 1940s and held a lot of sentimental value for me, as they were the first instrument I ever learned to play on. After she passed away, a family member went to retrieve them and the store conveniently had “no record” of them. Scammers and low lifes.
Not bad.
5. Woodbury Music Shop
Address: 766 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
Woodbury Music is the best shop around of all of your instrument needs! The shop owner Dave, is both friendly & knowledgeable! I have gotten both common things done (fixing of saxophone keys) as well as unusual things done (fixing of a dulcimer bridge) and everyone has always been great! I have also taken lessons for almost three years now, and my teacher Mike is not only a dedicated teacher, but also a very talented professional. Stop by and check it out!
Great honest shop here. Had a great online interaction with Dave via email. Want to know why I trust them? Because they talked me out of a purchase. Ha! Thanks again!
A hidden gem UPSTAIRS. Don’t miss it. Dave the owner is great, and talented. Patrick Gill is the PREMIER guitar TECH in the whole northwest CT region. He works miracles at a very fair price. Excellent teachers, Will for piano and keyboards and Mike for guitar and bass. Better check them out. I only trust my guitars to Dave and Patrick. Won’t go anywhere else. Seriously.
6. Music & Arts
Address: 989 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
We are new to the area and we’re pleased to have found this music store just around the corner. The customer service by telephone and in person was excellent; I spoke to a Chris and a Ruben, both of whom were gracious and helpful.
I had my 40-year-old folk guitar re-strung and re-conditioned for $25! To boot, Ruben was kind enough to tune my guitar on my way out of the store.
It’s rare to find a Music store these days. It’s even more rare to find a store whose staff provide such professional customer service. Will definitely bring our other two guitars in for servicing.
nice music instruments
The staff was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, and I will definitely be coming back to them.
Yeah it’s good!
I have condensed my original rant down to the following- we really like our children’s teachers- but the front desk needs saving
Limited retail space, but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Music lessons are offered on site.
JUST HIT BACKSPACE ON YOUR BROWSER AND PICK ANOTHER COMPANY. YOU’RE WELCOME.
Called your West Hartford CT store early today, after calling around to several other of your stores, to see if the had a certain string for my cello and if they could fix the one string today. Was told yes on both. My husband drove 25 min there to find out they did not have the string. Drove to the nearest store that had this string (which was an additional 15 min out from my house) and they had no one to help with the cello. My husband ended up purchasing the string. Had I talked to him I would have told him not to make the purchase. Now every place is closed so tomorrow I have to go to another store to get this string put on. We needed the cello for tomorrow so you guys were literally no help. I will be returning the string and doing my business elsewhere. I should have listened to the other bad reviews. First time customer turned into last time customer.
My child joined band program at her school in West Hartford. Using their online system, I placed an order for instrument rental and a book for the program. The date I placed my order, they charged my credit card.
However, they never delivered the instrument until I called and confirm the status. The book was never delivered with the instrument. A week later, I called them to confirm about the book. They told me that it was back ordered. Since the book was available in Amazon for next day delivery, I asked Music & Arts to cancel my book order.
After few weeks, I still did not have my credit back for the book. I called them to ask for the refund, and the customer service told me that I have to return the book (which was never delivered!) in order to get the refund and hang up on me. I used the chat function on their website to explain the situation. Here, the customer service told me that they would never charge the credit card unless the item is delivered, and conversation did not go anywhere. (Again, my credit card was charged on the date I placed order!) Not knowing what to do, I called the store in West Hartford, left my phone number with an employee so the manager can call me back. No one called me back. I sent polite email to the manager, and also emailed the customer service. No response from anyone.
I will NOT order anything from this business in the future.
Imagine spending your life blowing air into a piece of metal. Unbelievable
7. JC Music
Address: 529 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
Great customer service! Came in for a repair a month ago and the same piece broke again and I thought all hope was lost. I came back hoping I’d just be able to get my money back and left with a fixed guitar without having to pay again! So happy!
Kevin and Paul have been great to work with! My daughter loves her lessons and is really becoming a self described “band geek.” It is especially wonderful that she has been able to take piano and baritone lessons back to back, thus helping this momma reduce the chauffeur duties!
Would like to obtain some nice brushes and some type of top hat set used and very sturdy since I break percussion instruments all the time when I perform?
My son, Roberto Luis and Rosa live in Meriden. Are you far from the mall? I have spent a lot of time jamming in Puerto Rico to salsa, merengue, etc but my favorite is funk like Buddy Miles.
My grandson really enjoyed the music lessons and they are very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
Completely disappointed. I placed an order in store on a instrument that was never placed with JC music. The customer service was poorly displayed and the options they gave us was not acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner several times and would not get on the phone and made his new employee talk to me. I ended up going somewhere else that was amazing
This was a horrible expierence. They need to get their stuff together, they had already-sold instruments on shelf. They had an amazing guitar sale and when I went to buy, it was already sold! They got my hopes high and let it down and I will not give them my money any longer.
Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I’m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn’t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn’t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. As far as i’m concerned, this is the worst music store i’ve ever set foot in and would not recommend to anybody.
8. Phil’s Guitar Shop
Address: 255 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
I bought a beautiful relic custom telecaster crafted and built by Phil. I have owned several Fender & G&L tele’s and casters over the last 25 years and Phil’s custom tele is by far the most responsive, bright and the relic finishing makes it one of a kind. Highly recommend talking to the “guitar master” Phil Forbes and have him build your dream custom telecaster.
Great music shop! Solid selection, good prices, and very friendly staff who all have musical experience. My favorite music store by far!
Mike is a fantastic music teacher! He is so talented and knows many instruments. He has taught several family members and they are all excelling.
Do not follow hours on door or website, very dissapointing 🙁
9. Guitar Center
Address: 15 Backus Ave, Danbury, CT 06810 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
Well-informed staff and a huge selection.
Lessons in bass, guitar, keys and audio production.
Amazing staff……..
Wide selection of instruments with very helpful and knowledgeble staff.
Staff is very nice and don’t put any pressure on you to buy anything.
They never have anything in stock that I am looking for… Not for the discerning musician.
Friendly, no pressure, helpful, nice inventory
I went into guitar center to purchase a PA, Mic and mixer. I was there for about 15 minutes walked around the entire store. Not one person talked to me the entire time I was there. I went there to ask advice about what I should purchase but instead left because the options were confusing. Yeah I know I could have went up to the counter and asked for help but I figured eventually someone would ask if needed anything. I even fooled around on a sit down electric keyboard for a few minutes. I guess I’ll just watch some YouTube videos on what people recommend purchasing.
Used to come here alot to get my strings, stopped carrying alot of the Dunlop branded acousitc and electric strings along with anything that has a bottom 6th string with anything larger then a .13. barely any hardware to repair guitars with that’s worth the money. seems they have shifted more towards selling gig gear for club and dance setups. Whatever happened to the analog musician? Will be going to Alto music from here on out it seems
Really bad costumer service!
10. Music & Arts
Address: 378 Kelly Rd, Vernon, CT 06066 , Winchester Center , Connecticut , United States
Wow such help staff. The employee by the name of Pete was very knowledgeable and assisted me with my questions pertaining to all things guitars. I highly recommend this place!!
I visited the store to purchase a a beginner instrument for my child. I had no idea how much they cost. After speaking with the stores manager, he informed me of their rental program, and everything needed to start playing. Everything went smooth. And I left with everything I needed. Thank you so much !!!!
went out of their way to help me replace a guitar pedal that had a defect. fantastic customer service
I had a dispute regarding an instrument repair. The tech did a great job with the repair, but there was a miscommunication with the store concerning the scope of work to be performed. Jed Weeks at corporate resolved the issue with speed and grace.
Small space but with limited music supply stores in the area it’s good to see places like this still up
This store is a good place to get music books for several instruments especially classical instruments that you can’t find many stores for. I have a violin and go here occasionally to buy books for cool songs. 🙂
The in-store representatives are great and nice. But I am very much disappointed with the customer service representative and the supervisors. All of them showed rude behavior. I signed up for 10 months contract and during Covid situation there was delay in returning the instrument to the store at the end of contract period. But Music and Arts still charged me for 2 months on higher cost. Way above my 10 months contract. When I called the customer service, they were very rude and not showing any flexibility and care for customers. I wanted to do business with them for the next school year. But with these behaviors I will NEVER do business with them. I could not find anything lower than 1 star rating…
All they need is customers’ money… No care for customers… even in this COVID situations…
