Joe knows his stuff. Whether it’s to repair a guitar or to find the right instrument for you, you can count on him. It’s also nice that it’s done with a smile.
awesome business! buys, sells, and repairs vintage guitars(and newer stuff too). if you’ve got guitar business to do, go here first. you’ll get a better deal and leave with a smile on you’re face!
A unique boutique/guitar store with helpful, curtious and knowledgeable owners.
They had a tuner/pedal I was looking for at a great price, in & out, done.
Was looking for a VHS player for some old tapes I found. Darryl went through his equipment and found me just what I needed. Great Experience and I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone.
Awesome!!
4. Gray Dog Music
Address: 231 N Cortez St, Prescott, AZ 86301 , Yavapai County , Arizona , United States
Addison helped my sons get exactly what they were dreaming of at a great price. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Gray Dog Guitars!
Good service and real EZ going atmosphere.
Great experience, they made us a great deal on a vintage 1950’s banjo for my daughter, they even had the original case and they threw in some picks too. Will go back for sure, thanks Grey Dog!
Its a nice store really small some prices are expensive but overall good store nice customer service
Owner operator was extremely helpful to blind customer I was chauffeuring
Great atmosphere and good service. The special of a day which was a beef salad was rather mediocre and tasteless.
Gray Dog music is only good for when you need something in an emergency, otherwise there’s no point is paying those prices. Prices that you only realize are so high when you get all the way to the register since almost nothing in the store has a clearly marked price on it. You have to individually inquire for every item… Even there used equipment was priced similarly to buying it brand new elsewhere. To top it off the gentleman working the counter actually got short with me because I kept having to ask what all there stuff cost. Horrible experience would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Parking: The parking is the ONLY good thing about Grey Dog Music.
It’s a nice store. But they only sell guitars and related supplies. The pedal selection was weak if I was looking for pedals I would go online. Pretty much zero music scene in Prescott anymore. They cater to trendoids in my opinion. The selection was a huge bummer for me nothing but acoustic guitars.
5. Daniel’s Guitar And Coin Shop
Address: 605 White Spar Rd, Prescott, AZ 86303 , Yavapai County , Arizona , United States
He setup my new Tele and did an awesome job. He has set up all my guitars.
Daniel created a custom Tele for me & did setups for 2 other guitars. Just got my 12 string back. Could not be happier with all of them. Absolutely perfect. Highly recommended!
Haven’t had any problems with these guitars yet. However, if I did, Daniel would know what to do and fix it right the very first time in a decently timed manner!
Friendly, exceptional customer service, extreme care for their stringed instruments, as well as “decently” priced things for sale! Those are what “matters the most” to me about Daniel’s Guitar and Coin Shop.
I can ALWAYS rely on Daniel to help!
😉
You guys rock!!

Parker Minnick

Hands down the best place to go. I live down in the valley but every time we visit the area we stop by. If you need anything guitar related you have to go here. Every other store said my guitar was unplayable and impossible to fix. I bought it here and he made it play better than when it was new. The prices are just barely higher than places like guitar center but he does a free setup on every instrument that would cost about a hundred dollars anywhere else. The owner is very friendly and is happy to tell you everything you could possibly know about any instrument at the store. He is extremely good at what he does and has even made guitars for people like Alice Cooper and David Bowie. Just the perfect place to buy or look for an instrument. I will never take my guitars anywhere else.
The owner has great knowledge, and worked on my wife’s guitar while we waited.
This is such a wonderful music store. The staff are amazing and the selection is fabulous!
Listed as open on Monday. Drove from Spring Valley to find them closed. Need to correct this.
The owner is a pretty cool guy. Very knowledgeable on everything in the store. He has also made guitars for some of the biggest names in music history.
The owner of this establishment is beyond rude, he didn’t answer any questions (which I believe is because he has 0 knowledge of anything pertaining to his little business) and he over prices everything. I understand it’s a local business so prices will be higher but his USED banged up instruments are at least 70% higher than anywhere else for the same NEW instruments which is unreasonable.
I’ll be shopping at a honest local music shop.
Thank You
Very happy with R Taylor set up and Breedlove install of pickup with set up. Have been frustrated with other Technicians, but the experience and technical ability of Chris and assistant are top notch. Will definitely use for any future guitar issues.
Chris setup two guitars for me, both had some issues that I felt needed attention. After picking them up and playing with them I could tell instantly that Chris had performed some black magic that turned my guitars into absolutely beautiful feeling and sounding instruments. Chris is also a tally cool guy, I would highly suggest his shop for all guitar repairs. I know my friends and I will bring ours here.
Great service – I took my new Fender bass in for a setup – Chris saw it didn’t need much – adjusted the neck and that was it – I was out the door with it. This is my first bass – it now plays so much better.
9. John’s Corner Music Shop
Address: 8680 AZ-69, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Yavapai County , Arizona , United States
A local music store ran by a knowledgeable owner. John has good instruments for sale at decent prices. If you have any questions regarding guitars, amplifiers, or their many accessories John can answer them.
This is a hidden treasure. They have many different instruments at very low prices. They also offer lessons at 1/4 of what you would pay elsewhere. The guitar teacher is wonderful and the owner is great.
If I could rate 10/10 I would. John’s a sweet man and treats you like family. I always leave there with something new. No other music shop is the same, great guys working there and great prices too. Love everyone there.
Low quality gear that is way over priced.
wouldn’t give it even one star! I just went in to grab some guitar strings and was never once acknowledged the whole time I was there. Not even a greeting. needless to say I walked out. Not sure what the deal is in this town but I have yet to encounter any sort of professionalism with the businesses here!!!
10. PRESCOTT VALLEY MUSIC – PV MUSIC
Address: 8561 Florentine Rd suite a, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Yavapai County , Arizona , United States
Excellent work on my guitar and amazing how quickly they got it done. This is a really cool music store!
The staff and full knowledge, very helpful
Brought a well worn and rusted guitar in for repair. Within a few days I got it back like new and for a very fair price. Would recommend for anyone who needs repairs.
I stopped by Prescott Valley Music looking for someone to repair my flute. Even though they specialize in guitar repair, he fixed my flute within minutes at no charge. I will definitely go back with my guitar needs.
Went there with a friend.
Sadly, and most regrettably, I must report that Russell, the proprietor of PVM, used his prior good business standing to consign, endorse, solicit, directly accept partial payment for, a fraudulently, utterly misrepresented $3k instrument, that is so INTENTIONALLY damaged (a 40” gong, sawn into THREE parts, then poorly soldered back together) that it is basically rendered useless as a musical instrument. He also personally/professionally arranged for its delivery and attested to the instrument’s ‘excellent’ condition (all in email and voicemails, still retained as evidence).
Initially responsive, and seemingly aghast, he and the seller he worked with, and as agent for, now decline to correspond or address this, each saying neither or the other is responsible.
A $3k scam?????
BEWARE!!
I think all they sell is USED. Even patch cords. 🙁 Totally disgusting and disappointed.
Don’t buy vinyl from them

Go in all the time always great service and amazing employees
We got a great price on an electric acoustic guitar… Owner Jay very helpful. Able to get what we needed at one location
It’s okay place kind of small
It’s okay , inside the Mall , didn’t have what I was looking for .
Great store… decent prices. Went in for a used classical guitar and came out with a nice one. Came with case even. Added an American -made humidifier, works well. Smaller place, but has the important things. Recommend highly
pretty bad guitar setup. took over a day and went to pick it up and the guitar was dirty. they didn’t even clean it there was dust all over it. there was a loose screw in the saddle i had to fix. low e string buzzing worse than before. save your time and your money and go to a better place.
So, I went here for the first time and the girl behind the counter was NO help. She was too busy to get up and show me where the item I was looking for was. I will not be going back.
Burned by this store over a Reverb purchase. I paid $450 total for a mini french horn they advertised as in “excellent” condition. When I recieved the horn I started noticing that the 3rd valve doesn’t close and open all the way disrupting airflow when pressing and depressing. Even after oiling the valve, there was no change. This horn is non-functional to a player. 1st the store decieded to deny any return or exchange to address the issue immediately. Then I tried to contact Reverb customer care and tried demonstrating this in a video to them. Both the seller and Reverb responded with a guilty until proven innocent skepticism that left me stuck with an unplayable horn. It took a lot of hassle and time away from normal living dealing with both of them. I would advise anyone not to buy a brass or woodwind instrument from this store unless you can inspect it first. Either they don’t play the instrument themselve, or they knowingly sold an unplayable instrument not caring.
I have played horn (F horn) semi-professionally for over 22 years in wind bands, orchestras, and jazz ensembles. I also have extensive knowlege of major brands and makers and designs of horns and am qualified to advise other players.

Steve is a great guy to work with. He makes you feel at ease from the beginning. His engineering skills will bring your music to another level! Thanks Steve!
Steven is, in a word, tremendous. His energy, his vision and his ability to work in any genre make him a force to be reckoned with and respected. He’s a mountain talent in a human shaped package. He’s professional, focused, and able to help an artist reach for something greater, something deeper. Give him a footing to work with and Steven can help get you where you wanna be or better then what you thought you could. As somebody that was messing around with a guitar in his basement complaining about what music sounds like nowadays and calling his friend all the time or sending him demos, Steven did alot to help me craft that into something tangible. Something that I’m incredibly proud of. Thankyou Steven. Really. You’ve got my business for life because this is the best shot I could’ve started with and you packed it with gunpowder.
Steven was incredible to work with, extremely instrumental in helping my mix achieve it’s full potential. He is dedicated and motivated and willing to take on any project he is given and that say a lot about him. I come from a metal background and listened to his mixes prior to talking to him about my music and I loved what he had done so I knew I had to see if he would be willing to work with what I had. Indeed he was willing to work with me and my genre and help it be so much more than I thought I could have in a track. He was extremely professional and from the get go told me as the process went on, if I needed changes or I had ideas to add he took them in and tailored it to still be “my track.” That’s the biggest thing that stands out to me as well working with him, he truly loves to do this and loves the craft but loves to have the artist involved throughout the process and will tailor the things you would like to have going on in your track. I could not be happier with my finished product and the service provided and I will look forward to working with him more in the future and making sure people know about how much this man truly loves what he does and loves the music.

Loved this place. Small but the owner was nice. Will be back sometime for sure.
Love this place! The owner is great, if he doesn’t have what you’re looking for he’ll get it for you.
Awesome local record store!
Not just your current record store but your retro record store there really are lots of Records here cost is not bad
Cute record store! Got some great deals on used records, but some are priced like new despite being in less-than-ideal condition. Still a goldmine, regardless.
Nice shop to find used and new vinyl. Big inventory for a small shop. Only place in area selling vinyl.
Incredibly rude owner. Attempted to see the price of an album I wanted to buy that the price was covered by another album, and he yelled “Don’t touch those”. So I left. Sucks for them. Too bad I couldn’t see the price for the record I wanted.
Not very friendly
First time going, the open sign was on, hours correctly displayed, but the door was locked. The store keeper looked at me then back to his/her computer. No wave, no acknowledgement. I waited for a couple minutes and then called the number. I was quickly greeted with a “”Hello” is not available leave your message at the tone.” Really? End my call AND your answering machine message is “Hello?” I just wanted to buy some damn vinyls. Thanks for wasting my time. Edit: I live 30 minutes away, so hopefully the time I take a trip, the store will be ready to take my money, or atleast let me browse… great first impression…

The accordion is my solace in a life full of desperate ennui. They cleaned and repaired old gurty to like new and charged a very reasonable rate. I love them all.
My guitar spent over 40 years just a couple of miles from the ocean. When I moved here the dry air changed everything. It developed a buzz on frets 9 10 11 and 12.
It has taken quite a beating over the years and is not much to look at but it played well and there was all that sentimental attachment.
I was beginning to think that it was a write-off but Daniel brought it back to life.
It was money well spent.
Daniel and Doug are nice people too
Mercy Guitar & fiddle 928-778-9287
Really Great.. we got a little bit of mixed up regarding the price but my guitar plays like butter again.. hahaha thank you Mercy guitar
I cannot recommend this shop.
I had brought in my Strat Ultra which I hadn’t played for 10 years to be cleaned up; the fretboard, frets, and hardware. I could have done it myself but thought I would save some time by taking it to the “experts”. They offered to put on a new set of strings as well.
When I picked up my guitar a day later, the fretboard and frets had not been cleaned very well and the other pieces of hardware had not been touched at all (there was some light oxidization which I had wanted to be cleaned off) (pictured).
The strings had been put on incorrectly over the top of the LSR nut (pictured).
Overall the work was lazy, sloppy, and in the case of the strings, completely amateur. This is not what you want when you drop off an expensive guitar to be worked on.
I had to return to the shop to ask for a full refund, which I received.
