Bad customer service

I been going here for the years. I’m done. Instruments are old and well used. We’re have had issues with everything: from picking up an instrument that stays out of tune to, picking up an instrument that the string breaks when tuning it prior to playing, getting a cello bow for a viola, handle falling off a case, and Most recent, trying to put a violin g string on as the viola a string. I’m going elsewhere. Encourage others to do the same.

General music store. Several Baby Grand pianos, a limited number of guitar brands, sheet music, and a few accessories.

Do not youse there piano moving service. They chipped a good chunk of my piano, and didn’t take any responsibility for the incident! Go to Dorsey music, or any other store! JUST DONT LET WELCH MUSIC MOVE YOUR PIANO!

RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.

I called them to replace the hair bow of my violin and the strings they said they can do it. When I visited them they Saud they can’t replace the hair bow but only the strings so I had to to another music shop.

Dub went out of his way to fix my grand nephew’s keyboard. Thank you so much!!

Great store

Some of the best prices in town. Staff is always friendly and willing to go out of their way to answer questions. Would recommend, especially if looking for used quality products.

The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you’ll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you’ll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.

If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.

Andy, the store’s proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I’ve talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.

There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can’t remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.

The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don’t like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That’s just nasty, and discourages business.

If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I’ve be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.

I remember, not too long ago Gigs Music Company was owned and operated by Rick and Debbie Schroeder. They had an impressive enventory. Then it changed hands you another great musician who worked for the Schroeders from the beginning and held it’s integrity. It seems those days are over. I’ve been there a few times lately and it saddens me to say it’s really gone down hill. To say the service is poor would be a understatement. The inventory lacks quantity and quality both. It’s definitely not getting a favorable critique from me. Three stars is more than generous in my view.

I dropped off my amp to get the boost and reverb fixed in August 2019. Over a year later and I still don’t have my amp. I’ve stopped by several times and tried to help find the parts needed. They won’t answer or return my calls so stopping by is the only way to check in. It’s been perpetually “a couple weeks” away from being done for a year. Unbelievably bad service. Never ever rely on them for amp repair.

Ordered a Christmas gift for my husband from this place last year, and I’m still waiting. I called them 3 times about it and was told it was on order and they would call me. Never received a call. Very unprofessional. I believe in shopping local, but not at this Boise business.

This place rocks! I have been looking into buying a starter electric guitar. Miguel helped me try multiple models and explained the unique features of each. Top notch customer service from the whole stafg. If I buy an electric, it will likely be from Chesbro.

I started buying guitars and music equipment at the age of 14 and the year 1974 from Chesebro s. I had to go to the store in Rexburg just for some strings never been interested in going there I have bought guitars from everywhere Sweetwater guitar center you name it every shop every place every town I have an amazing studio I wish I could post a picture and I say I have an amazing studio so that you could actually realize just how many people I have dealt with buying.equiptment over the years.so after going in to buy some strings I’ve bought two guitars so far in a very short time and I just want to say with all the MANY people I’ve dealt with Michael takes customer service to a new level that I have never experienced before he makes you feel like the store is your home he meets every musical need you could ever possibly want and a customer service level I have never experienced anywhere.Michael I can’t thank you enough . I would say more but I don’t have enough room to say it thanks again Michael.

Friendly service had what I was looking for

I would never shop at this store, I made the mistake of signing my son up for their rental program which is nothing more than a high interest, high harassment loan scam. These guys are a complete joke. The complete lack of customer service, along with the harassing phone calls, and creepy home visits are enough for me to contact law enforcement. DO NOT give this company your business!

Not thrilled at all with the service of piano,lessons 110.00 a month for a child only,once a week totally outrageous. Piano gallery was way, cheaper and nicer .

I went there, asked to borrow a guitar cable, and the old guy there said “what for?” After explaining the obvious, he said he didn’t want me playing anything unless I was going to buy something. He then tried to force me to use an amp that I didn’t want to use. After he walked away, I plugged into the tube amp that I wanted to use. He then came back and told me that I wasn’t allowed to play any of the tube amps that were out for people to try. My question is this: why have the tube amps out on the showroom floor if people aren’t allowed to try them? I’m never coming back.

Pro Coverage SUCKS it’s through another agency GUITAR CENTER CAN’T DO DITTY SQUAT….

Went in there for the first time and left within 5 minutes because it looked like a tornado went through there. Didn’t appear that they were understaffed just sh*t everywhere and all over the ground, empty shelves and stuff in huge piles. Completely unorganized.

Employees eager too help you as you walk in the door.

I love Guitar Center. Over the years, I’ve spent tens of thousands at their stores and online. What I don’t care for is the Boise GC. The employees are pretty good but I think the management kind of, well, they’re not good. I get the feeling the managers turn up their noses at Epis and Squiers if you try and trade them in, they act like they’re being put out by buying your guitar and then selling it for twice what they paid you.

They need a bigger location. Boise is populated enough to support a larger store if management didn’t work so hard at chasing away customers.

30 minutes nothing no hello when entering! 30 min ihad no help and no oneask if I needed help! A helpful man came in and he help me! Just off street was more help I left not buying what I wanted!

Maybe I came on a bad day or something but I came in with the intention of getting some recommendations for a guitar based on my needs and two associates kind of just shrugged me off and told me to just go look at what was on the wall which is fine but I was hoping for a little more direction. I want to purchase from here but I felt this first experience was a little off putting. Two stars because the store was clean

Best repair shop in the region! They can fix, modify anything!

Jim ALWAYS does a fabulous job on my guitars. I recently had him switch out pick ups on my Les Paul. He set it up from the factory set up and made it perfect. I would highly recommend him for any guitar issues.

Two people there. One was great and full of advice the other made us feel like we had no business being there because we weren’t master musicians. I will take my business and money elsewhere.

My nephew wanted a simple stater pack with guitar and amp,etc. Called Burt’s and they said they don’t ever have them and hung up.

Staff helped, but it felt like I was bothering him. The only instruments for sale were on consignment. They had a few new instruments mainly guitars and bass. It was darkish. This wasn’t the music store I remembered has a child. And it breaks my heart, at least they had a flute cleaning rod that I needed.

Great friendly service, lots of products to coose from and staff is very knowledgeable. Grat prices. Would recommend to anyone in the music industry.

I travel quite a bit, and when I’m on the road I try and hit all the guitar shops nearby. Dorsey music was not only the best in that area, it was one of the best I’ve been to in a while! VERY helpful staff, good selection of guitars and accessories.

Amazing experience. Always come in and get amazing customer service. Great prices and they always try to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. They will even order stuff for you if they don’t got it in. On several occasions, have I entered the store to try and possibly buy guitars, and every time I am treated terribly. I am 14 years old and have been playing guitar for 3 years, no matter what though, I am constantly treated as a child and told basic beginner tips. Even after telling them how long I’ve been playing they continue to tell me 1st year tricks. Just to add to that, they constantly try to sell me stuff I don’t want or need. Upon telling them I’m not looking to buy they continue to sell amps, cables, guitars, strings, and picks. At my most recent visit, one of the employees, an older man with glasses, was selling something to a customer. My amp was at reasonable volume and wasn’t bothering anyone. Regardless, the man had told me to turn it down. I was reluctant to at first, but did so anyways because I didn’t want to bother anyone. In return, he turned his volume WAY louder than mine was, to the point where I could barely hear my amp. After two to three minutes, he told me to turn mine down some more so he could his up louder. I was in the store for only ten minutes, and immediatly felt unwelcomed. Like I said, this is not the first time this has happened. I honestly recomend taking the drive to guitar center. The employees their are much more customer friendly employees and reasonable prices.
