Point blank – The Treasure Valley is fortunate to have a technician at Lisa’s caliber. Not only is Lisa fully trained, experienced, & Straubinger certified, she is conscientious & professional. As a flautist, I perform in a number of ensembles & Lisa has always serviced my instruments in the quickest time possible. Thank you, Lisa!
The staff at Dunkley Music is very knowledgeable and always helpful every time I go in. If they do not have what I’m looking for they get it ordered. My grandson loves taking drum lessons here and I love going to his recitals at their Recital Hall right at the store! I have no reason to go anywhere else.
Love doing recitals here
Good selection, helpful staff.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
Back when Dunkley’s was in-town in Boise, I was an avid customer…they always have been professional and friendly all-in-one! They still are.
All of my musical equipment, specifically my violin and flute for school orchestra/band, came from here. And I am impressed with it nowadays!
GOOO Dunkley Music!!!
My wife, son, and I went to Dunkleys to do a little piano shopping as we had sold her piano a few years back and have now moved into a new home and have space again. Spent 10 minutes walking around looking at the various options without so much as a hello from anyone working there. Noone seemed overly busy but neither did they seem interested in helping us. Love supporting local but if you do not want my business you will not get it.
Staff have very poor customer service skills, their attitude was down right rude. My issue was not resolved- despite being a customer for 8 years. It seems loyalty no longer matters to Mark Dunkley.
Best wishes to you.
This would be a wonderful music store if it wasn’t for the poor customer service for the folk who come in who are judged based on appearance and/or their apparent wealth or lack thereof. I have been playing piano and trombone for more than half my life now and my daughter is about to enter 6th grade. She has tried the trombone but is more interested in playing tuba. The staff told her she was too little, that the other instrument she was interested in — bassoon — was “really rare,” [too] expensive, and that starting on a double reed instrument was a really bad idea…oh, and did I mention that she was just way too short to play the instruments she wanted? This is not their place to decide and I have played alongside MANY petite, thin, and amazing female tuba players. Staff should not provide input on what instruments myself or anyone else “should” play, nor place any limits on their customer. Their job is to sell instruments and they can do so without being condescending or insulting.

Low pressure, stress free environment. The employees are skilled experienced and friendly. No one has better prices and or knowledge and awesome rare gems galore. I would stop wasting my money at guitar center and only shop here. Excellence.
Best music store! We met Dub who sold us a rare drum kit, gave us alot of help and equipment to get it road ready, even down to a pair of diamond sticks that ended up being awesome sticks!! Very cool place!
Friendly people who are local musicians
Great help and service. Instruments were priced Right and in great condition for being used.
I remember, not too long ago Gigs Music Company was owned and operated by Rick and Debbie Schroeder. They had an impressive enventory. Then it changed hands you another great musician who worked for the Schroeders from the beginning and held it’s integrity. It seems those days are over. I’ve been there a few times lately and it saddens me to say it’s really gone down hill. To say the service is poor would be a understatement. The inventory lacks quantity and quality both. It’s definitely not getting a favorable critique from me. Three stars is more than generous in my view.
The store is small, and the selection of instruments is not exactly large. Chances are, you’ll only find between 3 and 5 bass guitars for sale. There is usually an adequate amount of electric guitars to browse through though. Also, a fairly good selection of acoustic guitars. And, you’ll probably find some other instruments, like cigar box guitars, ukes and banjos.
If you are looking for used instruments and good deals, I think Gigs is worth visiting.
Andy, the store’s proprietor, is friendly, quite helpful, and easy to talk to. Several musicians I’ve talked with say he is a very good guitar tech.
There are one or more guitar teachers working there. I heard one was quite good, but I can’t remember his name, sorry. The teacher or teachers work with both adults and kids.
The worst thing about the store is sometimes people smoke in there. I don’t like being in an enclosed environment in which people are smoking. I tend not to stay long when I smell cigarette smoke. That’s just nasty, and discourages business.
If this store sold more bass guitars, and if no one ever smoked inside, I’ve be giving Gigs a 5 star rating instead of 4.
Never answers calls
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
I dropped off my amp to get the boost and reverb fixed in August 2019. Over a year later and I still don’t have my amp. I’ve stopped by several times and tried to help find the parts needed. They won’t answer or return my calls so stopping by is the only way to check in. It’s been perpetually “a couple weeks” away from being done for a year. Unbelievably bad service. Never ever rely on them for amp repair.

Really goes above and beyond to make sure everything works as it should and is reliable for a fair price
Rick has done an amazing job on all the guitars I have had him work on. He also is a great place to find used gear.
I had Rick set up my guitar. He did a Fantastic job. Fast and reliable. One day service. I would Recommend him all who needs guitar service. AAA++++
Rick is a great guy, and there’s always a gem or two hanging on the wall. Good prices, too!
Last Saturday I took my most prized possession to Rick, I paid to have a set up and new strings put on my Epiphone Les Paul 1960 Tribute pro. When I got it home I pulled it out and wanted to play it. I noticed right off the bat that Rick took a Utility knife or some other tool and shaved off the binding all around the fret board The fret board has gouges all the way around and the frets stick out and gouge your fret hand when you try to play it. My guitar is completely ruined! I haven’t slept in several days I’m so pissed. I in no way implied, asked for or mentioned that he do this to my guitar. I can’t even open the case it makes me so sick! I would not recommend Rick to anyone again. Rudy Rodriguez Nampa Idaho

Prices were lower than Dunkley. Gave me a lot of great info on violins
My son rents a Cello from Dorsey Music for his orchestra class. The staff at Dorsey have always been extremely helpful and cooperative. My son’s first cello was destroyed by accident at school and Dorsey Music was very helpful in finding him a replacement and working with the school. I would definitely recommend using Dorsey music for any musician or student. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and very cooperative.
The team at this store is a wealth of knowledge! The trusted shop f9r professional to student violinists and fiddlers!
Lots of instruments to choose from.
Nice staff, reasonable prices.
Fine for immediate gratification.
Staff needs to know when to hang up the cleats.
They have a terrible selection, pressure people into buying things they don’t want, have no returns, and terrible customer service. They are extremely overpriced and unhelpful. I was not told about the 30 day exchange policy, nor was I told about price-matching. As for the TENOR saxophone mouthpiece, they did not have the one that I inquired about, which is extremely common and popular, nor did they have the reeds I inquired about, which are also extremely common and popular. I was instead stuck with a mouthpiece that I didn’t want, that I payed $20 extra for, and they now have an extremely dissatisfied customer that will never return. If you’d like a much better experience, more knowledgable staff, and better pricing I would suggest going to Dunkley Music instead.
Want to be talked down to? Then this place is for you. Bunch of old snobs.
