very nice very ice!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking awesome
What exactly lies there
Very nice
We bought the weekend Ski package which is supposed to include both the lift tickets and the equipment rental. They didn’t have boots in my size and the ski shop was closed for renovations. They finally resolved the issue but it was troublesome nonetheless. The ski lodge could use better food but the sushi was remarkably fresh. We didn’t try the spa.
Not the best peak I’ve ever seen but it’s OK
Really nice snowy peak with good view over the entirety of the island, and you can barely see Akutan from here. Although, a little pale girl with mittens and pyramid horns live here, and she keeps yelling at me to go home, which kinda ruins the experience.
i needed this for a project and all i found was the place and things that i don’t need to worry about.
3. Old Town Music
Address: 507 Frontage Rd, Kenai, AK 99611 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Love this guitar store! Dustin is very helpful and professional.
Very happy with the work done on my old 12-string Guild. Will do business again.
I cannot express how much I appreciate the expertise and service I get at Old Town Music. Dustin is very knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to get the perfect instrument for each customer. Thanks for being here for us in the Kenai/Soldotna area!!!
Accused me of stealing my first time in the store, because of the age I supposedly look. Even tho I had items on the counter, and clearly was ready to pay. Not real great service in general. Rude. Won’t be back.
Avoid this place of possible. Since they open at 12 o’clock I sat there till one o’clock and they had yet to open I get the whole musician hours thing but. Not opening for an hour there’s no excuse besides pure laziness. I refuse to give such a business my money and you earn this one star.
Do not buy a guitar from this store unless you know 100% what your buying is worth what your paying.
I needed a guitar and when there
Payed 300 for a guitar came to find out it was a 75$ guitar from wall mart
Refused to do any return and stated to me
“ that’s just the way we do busyness”
I replied that he had lost a customer and if he continued to do busyness this way it would catch up with him.
Just a heads up.
This place will get you if you let them!
4. Alaska Music & Sound
Address: 1000 Ingra St, Anchorage, AK 99501 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Alaska Music and Sound us the place to go for sheet music, instruments, reeds, strings, drumsticks and a nice range of fun items for musicians (think stickers, music-themed earrings, etc.). We rent our daughter’s instrument here, and she takes a weekly lesson at the shop, too. We’re happy with the service in the shop and the consistent level of professionalism from her teacher. Our daughter has attended a master class here, too, with professional musicians. In short, whether you’re an established musician, someone who’d like to rent an instrument and get started, or a parent wanting to support a child just getting started in music, Alaska Music and Sound is a great resource!
Veey helpful and informative.
Cool local music store.
Good service.
Sells well made oboe reeds. Would definitely recommend buying oboe reeds here
Really friendly and helpful staff
5. Whiteys Music Shoppe
Address: 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Rd #26, Soldotna, AK 99669 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Ready like the store very helpful and always friendly attitude thank you
Excellent service and resource for instruments and music supplies. The music lessons are a fantastic flow for the business. The staff couldn’t be more exceptional. Instrument repair and used equipment are professionally done and maintained for turnover. Prices are reasonable and flexible.
Whiteys Music Shoppe is a good old fashion music store owned and run by a real live multi-instrumental musician who lived and worked in Nashville for years. They offer personalized customer service, lessons, a wide variety of sheet music and instruments, and a wealth of knowledge. This is really a gem right here on the Kenai Peninsula. I was so surprised to find someone of Scot Merry’s (owner) pedigree in a strip mall on K-Beach. Highly recommended. Check it out!
Whitey’s had a pretty good vibe. It’s not a huge music store, but it does have a decent selection of instruments to choose from. The staff was very helpful and helped me get exactly what I was looking for while making small talk. Overall a good experience. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because it’s pretty small and might not have everything you’re looking for, but it’s worth a visit to stop by and ask.
Doesn’t open till 12 o’clock and is closed on Thursdays.
Update: drove 30 miles today to come to whiteys, only to find that they were closed on Wednesday at 530 when there sign clearly stated till 6 pm….I knew this hence why I drove that from to come here……..this is infuriating…….how’s a business of such low caliber stay alive……..too bad I have to give them a star at all
6. Matanuska Music
Address: 280 N Willow Dr, Wasilla, AK 99654 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
My favorite music store they always take care of me and their luthier gets things done in a timely manner and does awesome work
Extremely helpful and friendly service!!!
Lots of experience. Knowledgeable employees.
Great prices, great service. Good selection of guitars. Not much selection on other instruments.
This store is packed full with musical items.
The staff there is great!!
These Guys has absolutely no clue about what they’re selling/doing.
Better drive 100 miles more instead dealing with these non professional “sellers??????”
Keep you money don’t buy here
Purchased a guitar and amp with all of the accessories for a new player. Upon picking up the guitar, the amp I picked out was sold, and another amp was put on the table with no explanation of where the other amp was. The amp was a decent brand, so I didn’t say anything, and the amp was also new. After using the amp, I had significant issues that I had to troubleshoot. Nothing worked. I returned them amp and explained what I had done to troubleshoot, and they did not want to look at it. I asked for the original amp I picked out, and the staff became angry and aggressive. I attempted to calm things down and solve the issue, but then they gave me the amp that I had originally played and asked me to leave. I will never return.
7. Music Mart & Studios
Address: 413 Noble St, Fairbanks, AK 99701 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Very nice, alot to look at with some really good prices
Best music shop and instrument repair in town!
Very knowledgeable and easy going laid back people. Not trying to force you into buying the most expensive items. But, what is a right fit for you and your needs
Needed a set of strings for my 12 string guitar. There was a good selection and the staff was helpful in selecting a fitting set. I was shown a nice case when asked. This place has instruments of all kinds, for all levels of proficiency. They also have lots of teachers who make their services available to students wishing for instruction. When I had a problem with my purchase it was rectified as soon as it was brought to their attention. I will return for other items related to my music interest.
Good service loe proces
Neat place with a good variety of instruments. Nice people too!
I came in with my dad to look at guitars and to ask a price on his old banjo. I know my instruments and how to find the correct prices on used items. The lady who helped us, gave us the correct price, but she was talking down to us the whole time. I have never seen my dad treated so rudely.
Not impressed by their customer service, although I did get what I needed done, thus the 2 stars. I’ve been a few times over a period of 7 years and both times they were rude. I’ve also known people who have said they were rude. I’ll try Pro Music next time perhaps.
Expensive
8. Mammoth Music
Address: 500 E 5th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Recently I was searching for a place that would know what a antique tube tester would be worth. The people at Mammoth music were very knowledgeable. Turns out that there tester was broken and they were having a hard time for parts. Well they offered to buy mine and some other stuff. They were very good at explaining everything to me and the worth of my items and offered me a reasonable price. I would recommend anyone who wants to know more to go see Mammoth music. I’ll do business again with them.
Mark E Metcalf
Love it. Great lessons. Nice stuff
Went in today for a new set of strings and some expertise…the gents behind the counter were too busy talking with each other to take the time to help a customer figure out what to do with an old guitar. The guy that did finally end up helping me wasn’t much of a help and impatient. I’m going to Mikes Music or MatValley Music from now on.
The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful.
If you’re looking for percussion instruments / pieces, you need to ask at the front desk for assistance. The staff is 90% of the time very friendly and helpful.
absolutely horrible. rude and had no idea what they were talking about. they tried to have an unlicensed person work on my amp for $75 after they are the ones who messed it up to begin with. i will never go back and i advise anyone else to find another music shop. this place is garbage.
Nothing but problems. Been going to this place strings and such for 16 years now, but I would say I’m officially done. Would prefer to buy local but…
Staff is unpleasant unless they think you will be spending lots of money. Not knowledgeable. Not courteous. The only thing this place has going for it is a lack of competition.
I turned in my guitar for been calibrated a month ago and they didn’t work on it. I never received a call from them. I asked for my refund.
9. Alaska Music One (formerly Rozwick-Giles Music)
Address: 9380, 9340 Glacier Hwy #43A, Juneau, AK 99801 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
Let’s give this guy business. He’s honest, recommended the best guitar strings for the price, strings can be spendy. Several guitars to choose from. I’d like to see Gibson Les Paul and fender guitars. Very nice acoustic guitars. Owner operated. He deserves our business I think. 5⭐
* Hope he can stay in business
Bought guitar strings.
There is something for every person in this wonderful store. They have parts, pieces, accessories, music books, instruments, repair services and so much more. It does not matter if you play on a baby grand or the kazoo with air guitar solos, play wind instruments, brass instruments or maybe just sing they offer a million and one different things.
Awesome store , great service
Great selection of instruments and a knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Stopped in and pick on guitars for a while, friendly atmosphere.
Sexist, rude, and over priced.
10. The Music Man
Address: 4623 Old Seward Hwy, Anchorage, AK 99503 , Akutan , Alaska , United States
I’m sure the establishment is a very nice one, I’ve heard great things. The parking lot, however, is a complete cluster.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Great selection, fairly priced.
Just a comment regarding people who may wander in while waiting for their car to be finished with tires etc, just next door. It wouldn’t kill you to at least say hello. Just sayin’. I changed my mind on coming back here, as it seems you really don’t need my money.
I’m not sure what is going on with pricing at this store. I stopped through the shop hoping to pick up a Yamaha FG800 acoustic guitar. They had the guitar in stock, but for some reason the price on it was $299.99 vs other places that sell them for $199.99. I’m all for supporting small local businesses, but I’m not going to pay 50% more than I need to. Luckily the Horn Doctor over on Ingra had the guitar for $199.99 and much more engaging staff to help me out.
