This is as much an eye candy gallery as it is a guitar shop. Even non-players will enjoy stopping in to see the amazing selection here. It really is like an art gallery. And the staff is so great – the most friendly guitar shop I’ve ever been in. I bought my Suhr here and it was perfectly set up. The buying process was zero pressure. Highly recommend Danville Music.
Update: needed to update and confirm that this is the best guitar shop in Northern California. THE best staff
Amazing guitar shop.. 100/100 , Cameron helped me get my new HDRX 20 and was nothing short of great to work with.
Excellent store and the employees are so nice.
I rented an clarinet with an agreement to use the rental credit towards the purchase of instrument . The shop did honor the agreement and rater quoted higher price to cover up the rental credit

Wow, what first class service! I met the owners, John totally took care of me. It’s a beautiful store with everything you need. They support music teachers & have amazing practice rooms and private instructors. This is a wonderful place, I will be back!
I was wonderfully helped. For a small shop it had a decent selection and decent prices
Great customer service and repair
The place has helpful staff and great collection of musical instruments.

Address: 85 Lafayette Cir, Lafayette, CA 94549 , Alamo , California , United States
Yes, the other reviews are correct. Great selection of guitars, odd hours, but Stevie is as gracious as he is talented. If you’re in the area and you like guitars, check it out.
Took a $60 Uber ride to get out here while on a work trip, and man was it worth it. Stunning guitars for every kind of player, you’ll definitely find at least one that you connect with. Steve seems like a great guy too, it was fun chatting! I wish I had a shop like this near me. Such a wonderful experience!
Best guitar shop. Proprietor Stevie Coyle is a great person, patient and extremely knowledgable. Has the best collection of beautiful and unique fingerpicking guitars.
8. Music Exchange | Piano Store in Walnut Creek, CA
Address: 1501 N Main St, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 , Alamo , California , United States
Mike was very informative and patient with my 10 yr old granddaughter.
Great piano store! Downtown walnut creek, walk-in friendly. Many good options. Yamaha, vintage Steinways. Some of them were above my budget, but Manager Carson still allowed me to play the pianos.
Great customer service from Carson, who gave me a personalized recommendation and tour. They’ve been around for 50 years and the price on the instrument I purchased was $500 lower than Sweetwater, Guitar Center, etc, which you might not expect from a dealer. The acoustic piano inventory is incredible too, and having that extra level of knowledge coming from people who actually play makes a big difference.
I try Music Xchange branch in Walnut Creek was, unfortunately, a frustrating experience. After attempting to schedule a virtual appointment, I was looking forward to getting information about pianos available within my budget. However, things did not go as expected.
Upon scheduling a virtual appointment on the store’s website, I received no response whatsoever. I decided to call the branch directly to resolve my query, but to my surprise, the lady who attended to me seemed unaware of my previously booked appointment. This initial lack of coordination left me feeling bewildered and neglected.
Finally, I received a call later on, but my hope for a more satisfying experience quickly faded. The salesperson who contacted me appeared unwilling to make any further effort or provide the information I needed. The conversation was brief and unhelpful, leaving me with more unanswered questions. I have to insist asking for the info like pushing.
What frustrated me the most was the feeling that, in order to get the information I needed about piano options within my budget, I had to go to the branch in person. Unfortunately, I do not have the time required for an in-person visit, making this limitation a disappointment.
Acquiring a piano is a significant decision that requires careful attention and good guidance. I had hoped that Music Xchange would provide me with a more positive and accessible experience. The lack of response to my virtual appointment and the salesperson’s lack of effort to assist me online left me with a negative impression.
While my experience was unsatisfactory, each individual may have a different experience, so it’s important for prospective customers to research and evaluate the store according to their own needs and expectations.
9. Peet’s Coffee
Address: 215 Alamo Plaza Suite E, Alamo, CA 94507 , Alamo , California , United States
The ostmeal, vanilla latte is delicious you’ve got to try it.
This is a really good Peet’s. Friendly and capable baristas, lots of parking, plenty of seating, and fairly fast service.
I love the consistency of level of customer service at Peet’s. I’ve visited several through the years, and I always find their staff friendly, helpful and cheerful. A bit like a coffee Disneyland. Keep up the great work!
The employee’s are nice, the store is clean, the seats are comfortable and decent wifi. and after 4 visits, they have gotten my order correct every time.
What more can you really ask for?
Great location. Great coffee. Wonderful staff.
Great Mocha, just as I like them, but batistas are swamped, making drinks slow to receive!
I take back everything I ever said about Peet’s coffee. The coffee today was cold and I get the same thing every time. Who knew coffee could be so cutthroat I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN A PEETS AGAIN ESPECIALLY SINCE THERE’S A STARBUCKS IN THE SAME PLAZA. + THEY DON’T TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES WELL. F- for Peet’s who will never be as big as STARBUCKS! NICE TRY SUCKERS
The coffee and location are great but there are no changing tables. I had to change my baby on a pretty dirty bathroom floor…. This is not a family-friendly coffee shop and I wouldn’t go there again.
Update. Store’s gone downhill. Drink’s quality has gone down. What’s the deal with the training? It’s like the barista has only been there 2-3 times and had someone else complete their training for them .
10. Harps Etc
Address: 1601 N Main St UNIT 106, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 , Alamo , California , United States
I purchased a lovely harp from Harpsetc. Excellent service, caring and professional. My new harp arrived way across the USA in record time and mint condition.
Harps etc. is the place to get everything harp and harp related. They have a wide selection of harps, harp music and harp supplies. They are located in Downtown Walnut Creek, not exactly on the street, but down a little passageway. (Seen in picture). They also give harp lessons and do harp repairs. The staff, especially Gerry, are extremely knowledgeable and kind.
Lovely experience here. Their free harp classes are such a great way to introduce and try out a rare instrument. Super friendly staff and they have an adorable front window design – so cute and very instagrammable if you’re into that! Definitely would recommend visiting and supporting this business!
11. D & D Antiques & Estate Lqdtn
Address: Alamo, CA 94507 , Alamo , California , United States
What don’t I love about C & L music? They are extremely kind and have some of the best staff of the planet. We always bring my brother every time and he likes to get a new kazoo and he will use it before purchase, yes we always buy it after, and the staff doesn’t get mad at him unlike in most other places. There is also a large selection of music books and a large collection of reeds for wood winds. Definitely would come here for: reeds, books, toy instruments, repairs, etc!
My son was very happy with the treatment we received today. What a pleasant, family friendly, family oriented business. My family will continue to patronize the services here.
I love it
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great place for kids in school music programs and musicians beyond that age.
I was happy until the saxophone broke 3 weeks after renting it. I thought We were getting an instrument in good shape but apparently it was not the case.
Also, the lady at the store is very nice until you ask them to expedite the repair process or question them why they take so long to fix the instrument that never should have broken in first time if it was inspected and sterilized not too long ago.
She was a rude on the phone and she just think that talking to my daughter’s teacher will solve any inconvenience. It does not, because my daughter can’t practice without the saxophone so the one that they should be concern is about my girl missing practice time and getting behind. Sad moment for a middle schooler
The store was better before Covid. It was all open and had a large selection. Now they have most of the store closed off and the lights aren’t all on. Call before you go to make sure they have what your looking for. The owners are knowledgeable.
Deserves zero stars. Can’t go in the store. All they offer are a few junky used books outside. Only good as a walk up window if all you want is a box of reeds. I won’t be returning and won’t be recommending this dive. Go anywhere else.
Cranky old man with no concept of customer service.
Complete trash, terrible sevice. They don’t have a wide selection of books that actually matter when trying to become a great musician. Over priced on everything, buy everything online. They don’t know how to properly repair instruments. I took ina saxophone that I bought from them and they didn’t fix everything. I told them the pads were sticky and they didn’t fix them. Quality of the instruments they sell is extremely low. I wouldn’t recommend to people that actually care about creating music.
