What a wonderful job Sylvia (Phillips) did during our sons service. She was so considerate to our requirements, we could not have asked for more….sounded amazing!!
4. Miller Music Inc
Address: 4510 N Illinois St #3, Swansea, IL 62226 , Albers , Illinois , United States
My daughter is involved in school band and I have zero knowledge of music. I’m so thankful that the staff at Miller is friendly and always willing to answer my questions. They’ve always provided great, speedy service at a fair price. I’m thankful to have such a reliable, local resource for helping me navigate being a “band mom”. Thanks Miller Music!
The owner is so kind. He helped me fix my guitar cheaply and did the service work for free. Couldn’t ask for kinder service. Will definitely start taking lessons at Miller music.
I was desperate to fix my leaking Tenor Sax before band practice. Steve had me come in and checked it out on the spot. He made several quick adjustments and made it playable for me. No charge. Wow!!! Awesome customer service Steve! Thank you very much!
They appear to no longer be in business.
The owners were rude and condescending. I got the impression that not EVERYONE was welcome in their store. They may have a large selection of music, but I’ll take my money and my dignity to other music stores.
Do not put an item on consignment with this business. You will never hear from them again. Disgraceful business tactics + no communication regarding the issue. I will do everything possible to discredit this business.
Simply call to find out the brand of acoustic guitars they sold when I mentioned name brands the lady was set off very rude on the phone and hung up on me her name was Sharon
Been taking my kid here for years for lessons. Friendly, helpful staff. Bob has been really supportive of the student music program and has set up concerts at the Wildey.
Bought an Eastman from them off of Reverb. Arrived safely and plays wonderfully. Great transaction.
Great shop very friendly and educated staff!!
Fun shop for sure! Eye candy hanging on all the surrounding walls. The shop’s main focus is guitars so it’s definitely the place to go if that’s your go to instrument. Workers are knowledgeable and always very helpful. It’s no breaking news that guitar shops tend to give off awkward, intimidating vibes (understandably so when you visit any shop with high pricetagged merch) and I do have to try and hide my feelings of squirminess while there, but I enjoy going and will continue to.
Lots of inventory and they are willing to deal
I went in to get my guitar repaired, the staff members sat at the counter and talked and ignored me for several minutes. Then after they finally looked at my guitar it turned out to be a very expensive repair so I decided to just buy a new guitar. One would think this would be cue to start selling a guitar, instead they ignored me some more and made me feel awkward for playing any guitar they had. So I went to swing city music right down the road and they instantly came to help and found a guitar that was right for me.
After years of taking time off from playing music, band break up really made me step away, I’ve decided to look around for a new guitar and rig, have gone to Mojo’s, have purchase three terrific instruments from them in the past 15 years, never had a bad experience, today, however, was not the same. I walked into a store deflated of its prior pulse, I was seen and ignored, walked around looking for what would be my next stage guitar. Two employees, yet no time to greet, or attempt to make a sale, to show products, I even made an attempt by asking what’s new, even then not a singular spark of interest in my affairs with them was of significance. I walked out of there for the last time, sad to see such a place become so cold and uninviting.
Great place to visit, with more guitars and accessories than any other shop in our area.
Buy guitars and strings there sometime.
I really enjoyed the customer service. Employees were really helpful and professional
Decent music store, new contemporary keys not there.
To pricey for old models
Mayberry is all you could ask for except a good customer experience. Massive selection but all prices are at the higher end and there is very little wiggle room even when trading up. You may find what you need but if you’re looking for some good conversation and a great shopping experience look elsewhere.
The employees here are very satisfied with themselves and have a “cork sniffer” vibe from their precious pedestals. They are all too happy to correct you when talking about instruments and there is a complete lack of a warm one-on-one personal experience. With Amazon’s prices there’s little reason to go here unless you can’t wait or need something immediately.
I have been consistently disappointed with the attitude of and experience from Mayberry’s over the years and recommend taking an extra thirty minutes to go elsewhere or use it as a showroom to purchase on Amazon. It’s just not a very fun experience and fun and music shops I thought were supposed to go hand in hand.
Really bad customer service and overpriced.
9. Mike’s Music
Address: 816 E Main St A, Carbondale, IL 62901 , Albers , Illinois , United States
good chill place to go. i been going there forever
Mike’s let me rent for a very fair price while I was visiting for several weeks in Illinois. They had friendly kitties on staff, as well as very helpful & down to earth folks working there. Thank you for letting me practice and borrow the g’tar!
5 stars awesome service! We will be returning here. He stayed opened over an hour for us to make it there and took the time explaining and listening to my teenage daughter. She is on cloud nine! She can’t wait to show you what she learns in the future on her new guitar. Thanks again for making strangers happy!
p.s. a huge white cat that LOVES belly rubs lives here
Wide variety of guitars and similar instruments. Always a fun place to go to.
L.p.
The guy is really picky about what he will buy but they have really nice items and the guy will do trade on stuff
I took in two guitars for a setup. One plays as good as it did when I bought it, and the other plays ten times better than when I bought it.
Great selection of gear and had exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommended, 5 stars.
Couldn’t be happier with the customer service…..
Had everything we needed.
Best place ever to me
Really nice people, just very overpriced
They sold me a violin for 2,000 and when I had it appraised the specialist said they cost $100 for a set of three. I will never do business with them again and I urge anyone to go elsewhere
13. Flatlander Sound Studios, LLC
Address: 502 N Market St, Mascoutah, IL 62258 , Albers , Illinois , United States
Major studio capability in a small-town operation. Rick, the engineer and owner, takes the time to work with artists to ensure their time is well spent. Reasonable rates. You can’t go wrong here!
Worked with this guy Sunday very easy going guy wants to try and bring out the best music from you as he can. Very comfortable relaxed environment. Very professional guy made my music sound amazing. Highly recommend anyone to this studio for your music needs.
TOP NOTCH IN EVERY SENSE
14. Redbox
Address: 115 Weatherholt Dr, New Baden, IL 62265 , Albers , Illinois , United States
My 2 year old daughter has been showing signs of interest in the drums. Being new to the Southern IL area I did my own research for classes & a teacher my child was comfortable with. The Practice Pad is a place that my child never wants to leave when our sessions are over for the day. I couldn’t ask for better!
Been taking guitar instruction here for over two years. Chad and Mike are great, and I recommend The Practice Pad for anyone seeking musical instruction.
Pure artistry. We teach children here, too.
16. Capital City Music
Address: 3700 Wabash Ave, Springfield, IL 62711 , Albers , Illinois , United States
Great selection, always has what I need in stock. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, this shop rocks
Overpriced, nice staff
Chris was very knowledgeable and great help!
Meh
My go-to music store. Good selection. Always helpful
Slightly expensive, but very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
I hate doing this because I want to like music stores but if service is gonna be like this, everyone myswell DIY at home and heed this warning. I’ve had a few guitars setup there which is what I’m always needing done, new guitars etc, well I happen to be changing the strings on my Chapman that I had setup there and the low E saddle of the Floyd Rose came loose and the saddle screw fell out and that’s strange as you tighten them down. Well here’s what I discovered. Either dude lost the original saddle screw or he broke it somehow, but sitting in place of the original saddle screw is a too small saddle screw from a different bridge! It had been set in there and the string was tightened until it held the saddle in place! Like magic no screwing required! This guaranteed that as soon as the string tension came loose the saddle and screw would come loose every time NOT like it’s supposed to. Soooo sad service especially since luckily here at home I have many of those saddle screws laying around. It would have been better service to call me/order the correct part than to wait for me to get home figure out that I have the wrong part and have to deal with it myself. Smh.
I’ve been to a lot of music stores, and let me tell ya, avoid the this at all costs. Prices are High, equipment is below average, and the customer service is a joke. If you don’t mind paying top prices for sub standard gear and having to staff look down at you like you owe them something well this is the place for you . Two thumbs down
I am giving two stars because Matt Waldhoff took the time to speak with us in the store. Other than that, I’m not impressed. We were going to consign an expensive Clavinova with them. Upon looking at the contract emailed to us they wanted 40% of the price it sold for, which was satisfactory with us. What was not satisfactory was even thought they only charged $100 to pick-up the clavinova it appeared from the contract they wanted $100 to deliver it to the new owners. Also, they would take no responsibility for any damage that may occur to the unit while it was in their hands. As we had questions regarding that contract we contacted Matt Waldhoff two times via email, asking him to clarify certain aspects of the contract. He never responded back so I assumed they did not want our business. I ended up selling the clavinova on my own and kept the 40% they would otherwise have received. It is inexcusable to not return emails to clarify a contract and I can only assume he took offense that we had questions regarding a contract where they took the profit, but absolutely no responsibility for damage.
17. Baldwin Piano & Organ Center
Address: 200 N Park Ave, Herrin, IL 62948 , Albers , Illinois , United States
What can I say about Baldwin piano? Friendly service and a Southern Illinois staple.
We have been so satisfied with our player Baby Grand. The staff went above and beyond to make sure the service we received was 5 star! The piano was beautiful the sound impeccable and the staff was extremely helpful.
The rep was nice but the selection for guitar items was very thin.
18. Shivelbine’s Band Room
Address: 901 N Carbon St Ste 7, Marion, IL 62959 , Albers , Illinois , United States
The people put 100% effort into getting you what you need. Even if that means they miss a sale. Because of that ive done all my business with them.
Always awesome people too deal with.
They work with you. Great payment plans.
Very helpful staff
The girls who waited on me couldn’t have been more cordial and helpful. I wish they had a broader assortment of the classic oldies sheet music I was looking for. But there is always the internet. Perhaps my age has caught up with me. LOL.
19. Love’s Travel Stop
Address: 8690 Richter School Rd, New Baden, IL 62265 , Albers , Illinois , United States
It’s consistent so they have the same stuff at every loves. Can be good so you know what to expect. Clean bathrooms, showers, bathroom stalls have vacant/in use locks so you don’t have to turn upside down to see if someone is in the stall. They have all the basic hot bar items and snacks, but no real coconut water which I’m not used to. I would have given it 5 stars but they kind of got old/boring after driving across the country and none of them had anything different, including my favorite thing to drink – pure coconut water. Still, I’ll take it because it’s consistently accommodating, clean, and reliable.
Family member sat in the drive thru over a half am hour for a cold burger
I went there to go to Hardee’s I ordered a Frisco burger and a medium fry. My total came to $8.36. The fries wonderful, the hamburger which I thought was supposed to be made to order was a $6 joke. The bun which is supposed to be toasted or cold soft and had never seen a toaster. I love my dogs but I’m getting a little tired of feeding them $6 sandwiches.
Just took an ice cold shower here! I won’t be stopping here any time soon.
Their customer service was amazing. They went out of their way to make our furniture purchasing experience amazing. They even sent us paint samples because we were thinking about painting our furniture ourselves. They also sent us a handwritten card, thanking us for our purchase. Simply an amazing company!
Peonies & Milk did gorgeous work on my kitchen cabinets, fixtures and furniture in my business and home, and curated beautiful pieces we gifted to family and friends. To boot, they are not only talented and hardworking professionals, they are genuinely good people. What gems!
