The BEST shop to find anything vintage or even newer items. Brand names from years gone by….if you need it, they have it! Great customer service!
Beautiful little shop with plenty to look at. It is the most reasonably priced antique store I have ever been too.
Great people and awesome stuff.
Nice clean store with variety of booths for second hand buying. Not crowded and quiet so you can think about what you might want to buy. Well lit.
Neat lil place. I say lil, but, in fact, it is quite large. Decent pricing, wide variety of items. I highly recommend stopping in…even if you don’t find anything for yourself…there is plenty for someone you know!
Lots of interesting finds a person needs to look in-depth to see so many treasures
3. Colyer Coffee House
Address: 16 E Elm St, Albion, IL 62806 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Very good place! Excellent coffee, Rootbeer float, and cherry bread!!
Yummy espresso!! Such a beautiful little coffee house 🙂
Love it! Great coffee, ice cream, and baked goods. Friendly staff.
Very friendly staff and a nice place to relax for a little while. I hadn’t been back in Albion for 8 years and I was happy to find this place on a recent visit.
Great find here in Albion – very nice service and good coffee
This is the highlight of Albion. The coffee is true coffe shop quality, the building is old and nice, and the staff is friendly. Try the turtle. It’s awesome. My only dislike is that they only serve lunch 2 days per week. They may be all they can handle being so small though. Highly recommended.
Thank you for your response. My blended coffee was watery, not frozen and my wife’s latte tasted burnt and had chunks in it. There were little to no pastries and what we did get was dry and bland. My wife and I loved the decor and your staff was very pleasant and sincere. We still plan to stop again because we always give a second chance the next time we are through that area.
4. Redbox
Address: 49 W Main St, Albion, IL 62806 , Albion , Illinois , United States
This is one of the better McDonalds. Fast, friendly and good food!
This is the best McDonald’s in southern Illinois
It’s being remodeled but it still had a fast drive through
I come through on Saturdays, I can park my truck across the street and run in for something to go. Always a friendly staff member on the register.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and positivey polite
Fast service
S.L.O.W…..
Order is never right
I used to eat here everyday 2xs a day for yrs back when a hamburger actually looked like a Mac Tuck ran over it cause there’s nothing there for alot of cash. Wish it was the 80’s again cause food was excellent and was affordable.
6. Albion Equipment Co
Address: IL-130, Albion, IL 62806 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Guy was very helpful, had some used merchandise that saved us a ton of money. Highly recommended
This guy knows his stuff. Been going there for years for drum equip. Has used merchandise too. Lots of inventory.
The little unknown place with hidden gems!..
Has what you need when it comes to musical instruments needs..friendly service and knowledgeable..
They seam to have what you need. In music supplies.
Nothing in the store was priced. Took the time and found a stack of records I wanted to buy. He said he’d have to go on the internet and price each, one at a time. Gave him about 10 minutes to do that while I shopped. When I was ready to go, he only had one priced, and it was more than twice what it was worth on Discogs. The place was filthy and stinky. So, told him never mind on the records and I would buy the drumsticks and a kick plate. $16.09, fair price. Gave him a $20 and he didn’t have any change. Finally got so frustrated and just left. Don’t waste your time here.
Disorganized and everything is not priced with a tag, you have to ask him to look it up online in order to get a price. You may be there for an hour waiting for him to price each record or instrument you want. You will have better luck going to Guitar Center 20 miles away. Prices were not negotiable as well, just seems like a used music store should be more open minded to pricing and all.
Music store that appears to be run out of someone’s house. It smelled like stale cigarettes and was extremely disorganized. The guy running the place seemed to know his music but unfortunately I couldn’t handle the smell of smoke and was afraid that anything I purchased here would likely bring the smell home with me. Very friendly and helpful but this place desperately needs to be aired out.
8. H & H Music Service
Address: 1313 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47714 , Albion , Illinois , United States
We always go to H & H for music ! We bought 2 pianos there and are very satisfied. Great place for all your musical needs!
Amazing! Always very helpful and quick to reply with information.
What an amazing piano store with incredible people behind it all! I Highly recommend you visit this store!
The team is super friendly and knowledgeable. It appears they have a good selection and prices. Good deals on sheet music and we really like their rental program. The store is clean and organized. No complaints.
Found what I was looking for and I received it immediately. Easy to talk to and helpful.
Everyone at H&H Music in Evansville, IN was very helpful, as well as professional. I appreciated the information that their resident trumpet player gave me about mouthpieces. I also appreciated the personal service that Mr. Kelly Patterson gave me, which certainly didn’t surprise me from what I had remembered dealing with him 30+ years ago.
Growing up H&H seemed great and quite trusted. That’s all changed. In the last six months they’ve had two instruments in their store from me which they claimed need total overhauls, that when looked at for a second opinion at another retail store, were in need of minimal work. We’re talking estimated work $300+ per instrument vs $110. On two different occasions. Beware of this company and this store in particular. They are not trustworthy. They are in it solely for making money, no being professionals, not being on top of returning instruments in a timely manor and certainly not putting parents and students needs first.
Follow up; after speaking with Kelly, no real resolution was reached. I will reiterate finding another store to get estimates and repairs done. The fact that rebuilding was the only option on both instruments when they needed minimal work, still makes me wonder how many times work has been unnecessarily suggested and completed rather than doing just what was needed for less money. Look elsewhere when needing repair work done IMO.
Well my kid wanted to get a clarinet but they were like 700$ but I found one online for 50$ and it is in great condition
These people are racist and the owner profiled a black person because they refused to share their personal information (SSN) over trying to purchase an instrument! What do you need SSN for after they gave you their card details? I see all the beautiful reviews, and I am not surprised I didn’t see a single non Caucasian review! I wish you Karma, you are the worst type of human being!
9. Byassee Music and Sound
Address: 521 W Main St, Marion, IL 62959 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Great Place! Very friendly workers helped me find what I need, they even suggested the cheapest things to get.
I was wondering if you gave bass clarinet lessons?
I absolutely love this place!! They set up my lefty Fender Telecaster and nailed it Great service and very nice people…also gave me a great deal on a hardshell case! Amazing prices, I’ll see you guys very soon.
Very friendly and helpful. Nice to still have a brick and mortar music store in the area.
Really nice people, just very overpriced
Best place ever to me
They sold me a violin for 2,000 and when I had it appraised the specialist said they cost $100 for a set of three. I will never do business with them again and I urge anyone to go elsewhere
10. Swing City Music Co
Address: 244 S Buchanan St, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Very good guitar store they got good guitars i had an good experience they guitar were clean and tuned would recommend
Extremely helpful and pleasant staff.
Swing City Music in Collinsville is a local treasure!
I am ashamed to say that while I was once loyal to Drum Headquarters on the Missouri side, for the last several years my schedule has made it highly convenient for me to go online and order gear, sticks, what have you. Even though I work less than a block away from this location, I hadn’t dealt with Swing City in many years since it was at the old location.
I recently got into more of a recording project and I know nothing about home recording, mixing, monitors, etc. So I have visited with Art at this location now a couple of times. I want to stress here that after my recent experience of trying to learn about and purchase a wireless in ear monitor for studio and stage, I will no longer order ANYTHING from the big guys.
One look around this store and I realized how wrong it was of me to EVER give my money to the Sweetwaters of the world and why it is so important to shop local for music gear if you have the opportunity. At this location, people are taking lessons, kids are learning to play, local artists music and merchandise is available for purchase, local shows are promoted and on and on. There are so few opportunities left in our area for any sort of music “scene”- places to learn, play, hone your craft, etc. but this is one of them and it is important that we support it.
Art and Art Sr. and their team explained mixers, in ear monitors and different aspects of recording and sound to me, etc. clearly so that I could understand what was best in my situation and they didn’t treat me like a dummy for being a 44 year old musician who should already know this stuff by now. They didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t need AND as an added bonus they beat SweetWater’s pricing on everything without me even bringing it up or asking ( I would have paid more for the free education that I got from these guys). Strongly recommending that everyone go here. They have an outstanding selection, great service (not a snobby guitar shop atmosphere), and they can get you what you need if they don’t have it. Thanks for reading. Hope this helps!
Two location. If they don’t have what you need here try the store in Collinsville.
Staff is nice. Small store, but if they don’t have it, they order it and get it to you within a couple days.
Probably my favorite guitar shop
Was at the Edwardsville store this afternoon and one of the employees was very unhelpful and rude. Instead of helping he just told me everything was out of my price range. He doesn’t know me or how much money I had in my pocket. Will never go back!.
I use to be an avid customer. But I am growing more and more frustrated with the management. I feel like I’m going into a sleazy used car dealership most the time and I am treated like a waking wallet. I’ve bought some guitars and amps there, so I am (or was) returning customer . The employees act fake and I feel like everyone is treated like they are a child. I was going in there to look around if there was any new stock, the employee kept on hovering and was forcing me to play the instrument I didn’t want to try.
Honestly, go to mojos. This place is as unpleasant as a guitar center
11. Mayberry Music & Sound
Address: 301 E Broad St, Jonesboro, IL 62952 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Very helpful, whether your dealing with Floyd or his sons they always answer with you in mind. They know all the tricks to making an instrument sound good, you know your getting advice from experience d musicians.
Love it! Great to deal with. Enormous selection!
Great shop, very helpful
I am definitely a fan of Mayberry Music And Sound. As a banjo player, I do want to say that they are quite a bit over priced on their banjos and their banjos are not set up correctly. So I would not recommend getting a banjo set up there. Other than that, they are very good if your buyingan instrument from them.
Decent music store, new contemporary keys not there.
Buy guitars and strings there sometime.
To pricey for old models
I brought in a new guitar for warranty work, as they are a licensed dealer of this particular brand. They refused to perform the work because it “wasn’t worth the headache”. This was a guitar that I ordered thru them. I’ll take my business elsewhere, and you’d be well advised to do the same.
Mayberry is all you could ask for except a good customer experience. Massive selection but all prices are at the higher end and there is very little wiggle room even when trading up. You may find what you need but if you’re looking for some good conversation and a great shopping experience look elsewhere.
The employees here are very satisfied with themselves and have a “cork sniffer” vibe from their precious pedestals. They are all too happy to correct you when talking about instruments and there is a complete lack of a warm one-on-one personal experience. With Amazon’s prices there’s little reason to go here unless you can’t wait or need something immediately.
I have been consistently disappointed with the attitude of and experience from Mayberry’s over the years and recommend taking an extra thirty minutes to go elsewhere or use it as a showroom to purchase on Amazon. It’s just not a very fun experience and fun and music shops I thought were supposed to go hand in hand.
12. Mojo’s Music
Address: 144 N Main St, Edwardsville, IL 62025 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Best place to go buy a guitar. The owner should put new stores in!
Very cool store! Visited while in the area, will come back again.
Fun shop for sure! Eye candy hanging on all the surrounding walls. The shop’s main focus is guitars so it’s definitely the place to go if that’s your go to instrument. Workers are knowledgeable and always very helpful. It’s no breaking news that guitar shops tend to give off awkward, intimidating vibes (understandably so when you visit any shop with high pricetagged merch) and I do have to try and hide my feelings of squirminess while there, but I enjoy going and will continue to.
Lots of inventory and they are willing to deal
After years of taking time off from playing music, band break up really made me step away, I’ve decided to look around for a new guitar and rig, have gone to Mojo’s, have purchase three terrific instruments from them in the past 15 years, never had a bad experience, today, however, was not the same. I walked into a store deflated of its prior pulse, I was seen and ignored, walked around looking for what would be my next stage guitar. Two employees, yet no time to greet, or attempt to make a sale, to show products, I even made an attempt by asking what’s new, even then not a singular spark of interest in my affairs with them was of significance. I walked out of there for the last time, sad to see such a place become so cold and uninviting.
I went in to get my guitar repaired, the staff members sat at the counter and talked and ignored me for several minutes. Then after they finally looked at my guitar it turned out to be a very expensive repair so I decided to just buy a new guitar. One would think this would be cue to start selling a guitar, instead they ignored me some more and made me feel awkward for playing any guitar they had. So I went to swing city music right down the road and they instantly came to help and found a guitar that was right for me.
13. Dickerson Music Company
Address: 201 N Superior St, Albion, MI 49224 , Albion , Illinois , United States
If they don’t have it. They can usually get it for you. Kelly does all of the setup and repair work on my bass guitars. And I have taken some lessons from Kelly as well.
Amazing person
Very knowledgeable staff and a fun place I visit regularly!
Great local instrument shop.
I told the guy behind the counter I didn’t know the name of the thing I wanted to buy, but I needed something with which to apply bore oil to my clarinet. My exact words to describe what I wanted was “swabby thing”. I learned from him and another old guy that a variety of things will work, including something that I already have; I will just use one of my spit rags for cleaning and the other for applying a little bore oil when needed. I thought they were very helpful in this instance.
Please read all that’s written.
Have to say. Not a good experience. I gave the shop business before even stepping into the store. 1st off. The place is super dirty. Wondering how they were in business. 2nd. Took 25 minutes to get help. Kelly the owner was doing a lesson and the other guy was in his phone cussing up a storm before helping me. I only wanted a very over priced set of strings. 3rd junk everywhere! Don’t know what’s for sale or repair. Is a garage sale in the store. Looks like a lot of no good items by looking around on how dirty the place is. 4th. Won’t buy another or trade a guitar from there. EVER!! I have bought 3 guitars since being there. Less than a week ago. The guitar I traded for was not in working condition. I was told that the tech guy looked at it and perfectly working condition. I was offered a chair to sit and test it out. NEVER a amp to plug it in. I took there word for it. Hell, you don’t know where an amp is with all the junk everywhere. Being a music store you would think it would be in working condition. Well the guitar is not as they said. I contacted Kelly (Owner) he called over a day later. I Left a voice mail the same day. Never herd from again. Granted been only 3 days now but that’s bad business in my mind.
I was really bummed about the experience. I was really hoping to start a good relationship with Dickerson Music. Can’t say I would go back. Serviced sucked, pawn shops are cleaner and Dickerson Music is very over priced.
In all. Don’t waste your money or time there. The internet for strings or Parts is way cheaper. Go to a big box music store if looking for a new instrument. Used stuff. I would stay away. 1st time in a “music store” and walked with an instrument that did not work like it should. Hit a pawn shop before going here. At least all the instrument work. Oh, way cleaner too.
Just a thought from someone who has at least 4 guitars at a time. Buys and sells 5 guitars a month.
STAY AWAY!
Rob

14. Capital City Music
Address: 3700 Wabash Ave, Springfield, IL 62711 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Excellent business for buying, selling, repairing, and getting parts for guitars. I went in the other day looking to sell two guitars, fix one’s output jack, and then source parts such as a whammy bar, strap screws (as in the unit that’s screwed into the side that you hook a strap onto), straps, and pickup switch covers for two other guitars, and accomplished this with a bunch of great help (and a surprising amount of patience) from one of the guys working here. I got $40 for each of the entry level guitars I sold (and I’d only paid $50 for one and $60 for the other used in the first place!), the guy helping me fixed the output jack by reinstalling the washer and nut onto the receding line for free, and he showed me around the store to exactly where all the parts I wanted for my other guitars were located. I couldn’t ask for better service from any music store than what I received from these guys, and I’ll certainly be buying all my guitars and guitar equipment from them in the future.
I went in a couple days ago, looking for bass guitars; the selection of which was, unsurprisingly, limited, but what else can you expect? I walked out with an acoustic electric bass (with good strings and perfect intonation) for a fair price. The experience was pleasurable overall, and, next time I’m in the market for a new instrument, this is where I’ll go first.
Went for a Bow, was greeted promptly with great respect. They know how to treat their customers.
Meh
Slightly expensive, but very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Nice store plenty of gear in stock , staff was pleasant , prices were reasonable and they even had some used instruments for cheapskate s like me hahaa I will go back and give them some business, even though online shopping may save you a few nickel s or couple bucks shopping local and having our local business s right down the street is well worth it to me .
Took in a brand new bass to get a pickup replaced. Not a scratch on it, never played once. The supposedly simple pickup replacement took a week and a half only for them to give me back my new bass with the back of it covered in scratches and a huge glob of dried glue stuck to the fretboard that won’t come off. They absolutely wrecked my new bass before I even had a chance to play it. Worst possible experience. I am sick to my stomach about how poorly they treated my equipment and would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.
I’ve been to a lot of music stores, and let me tell ya, avoid the this at all costs. Prices are High, equipment is below average, and the customer service is a joke. If you don’t mind paying top prices for sub standard gear and having to staff look down at you like you owe them something well this is the place for you . Two thumbs down
I hate doing this because I want to like music stores but if service is gonna be like this, everyone myswell DIY at home and heed this warning. I’ve had a few guitars setup there which is what I’m always needing done, new guitars etc, well I happen to be changing the strings on my Chapman that I had setup there and the low E saddle of the Floyd Rose came loose and the saddle screw fell out and that’s strange as you tighten them down. Well here’s what I discovered. Either dude lost the original saddle screw or he broke it somehow, but sitting in place of the original saddle screw is a too small saddle screw from a different bridge! It had been set in there and the string was tightened until it held the saddle in place! Like magic no screwing required! This guaranteed that as soon as the string tension came loose the saddle and screw would come loose every time NOT like it’s supposed to. Soooo sad service especially since luckily here at home I have many of those saddle screws laying around. It would have been better service to call me/order the correct part than to wait for me to get home figure out that I have the wrong part and have to deal with it myself. Smh.
15. Tristate Piano Music
Address: 8250 S 25 W, Fort Branch, IN 47648 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Very talented music teachers. Best place around!
This location and the Edwardsville location are amazing! The staff is always friendly and informative. Lessons are very reasonable price wise. I highly recommend
This music story has a little bit of everything in it. Band instruments, guitars, pianos, sheet music, recordings and instrument accessories. They also resale used instruments at a very decent price. If your a DJ, the have equipment for you. Need lessons, they can not only help you find a teacher, but they have lesson rooms. The staff is knowledgeable and personable. If they don’t have it in store, they will try to help you find it.
A good old school music store.
It’s a really good place. Sorry, we were the ones that crashed intk the building
My experiences their have been very bad. Only 2 people in the store know anything. The owner who name is Art is a complete and total jerk!!! Don’t expect him to respect you unless you are spending loads of Cash. His workers are nice. The store though just feels dusty everytime I walk in their. This has been my experience. Use to like them now Im just fed up with customer service. They do have rare gear tho. Which for me is why I liked visiting their.
I frequently purchased merchandise over my years, normally I do business up north. I decided to buy a guitar for a gift about several months later I noticed that the bridge on the guitar was coming apart so I took the guitar back for exchange but was refused to exchange because of warranty. I didn’t expect a new guitar to come apart especially at the bridge we have several at home and never had an issue besides basic maintenance. I don’t feel as if I need to bring rulers, micrometers, calculators to purchase a instrument. Please spend your hard earned money at some other music shop if you want quality and respect.
The entrance was beautiful the photos of all the different artist and musicians was wonderful and gave me an idea of what I could be some day. I was greeted appropriately, and they answered all my questions, but that was just what they did. They didn’t ask any further questions or give me a reason to be there and learn about the infinite possibilities of music from them and their instructors. It seemed like their knowledge of music and instruments had become just a job.
17. Halpin Music Company
Address: 88 Northport Dr, Alton, IL 62002 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Just got some things over lunch and am very pleased with the service. Prices are also very competitive, even with online prices.
Wonderful customer service and friendly staff.
Small inventory and high prices on small items. Great sale prices on guitars though
Very helpful
great customer service and good guitars and pianos
3 weeks, to have simple repair done. Repair tech in Centralia is discriminatory against people with disabilities, and is a hateful man. He refused to work on my horn after it had been in the Centralia shop for two and a half weeks. They never called me about anything, I had to call them every time to find out any information about my horn. Left several messages that was never returned. Ended up having to have my horn worked on in the Alton shop, I had to to drive TWO and a HALF HOUR OVER 200 MI and pay full price for a repair with no discount even after the tech in Centralia was belligerent and derelict in his responsibilities to fix my sax after it was there for over 2 NEVER AGAIN
My son’s saxophone has been there a number of times. The last time he got it back the band director said that it wasn’t fixed. It went back and still hasn’t been fixed for 3 weeks! I have traveled down there in the past and had several words with them. This is the last time it goes back!
Never open on weekends! When do these people think musicians play and need gear??
18. Mike’s Music
Address: 816 E Main St A, Carbondale, IL 62901 , Albion , Illinois , United States
The best place in Carbondale to get your guitar repaired. Fair prices and excellent professional service. Also, a great selection of new and used musical instruments and equipment for sale. Great local talents are employed as instructors for guitar, bass, drum and piano lessons. They buy sell and trade all manner of musical implements and are always fair in their dealings and pay more for used items than any pawn shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and always helpful.
My 16yo likes to hang out in here a couple times a month. He is always greeted warmly, even if he only spends a few bucks on picks etc. I appreciate this! Much love from this family of music lovers ❤️
So nice!
L.p.
Some vintage gear and some brands I’ve never seen before. Mike was very friendly. If you’re visiting Carbondale and need a quick fix, swing on by. Easy to find on main drag.
Nice little pocket shop to pick up some accessories and or a guitar you had no idea was there lol. Drum sticks are decently priced too although limited to two brands. I absolutely love the mascots too!
19. Shivelbine’s Band Room
Address: 901 N Carbon St Ste 7, Marion, IL 62959 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Went to get an instrument for my son and the lady was very helpful thank you
They work with you. Great payment plans.
Always awesome people too deal with.
Very helpful staff
The girls who waited on me couldn’t have been more cordial and helpful. I wish they had a broader assortment of the classic oldies sheet music I was looking for. But there is always the internet. Perhaps my age has caught up with me. LOL.
20. Flores Music
Address: 3831 N Sheridan Rd, Peoria, IL 61614 , Albion , Illinois , United States
Best guitar store ever..its up there with the music outlet in Sevierville Tennessee. Great people i can’t wait to come up this weekend and see whats new..could they have a badlander this week..well see
They replaced all of my guitar strings so I looked around the store in the meantime. All of the employees were so nice and helpful. Can’t wait to go back.
Thank you so much to the man that helped me with the violin for my daughter, I was in there with my tired 2 year old son and he was being a handful and you were so very helpful and I thank you so much!
Nice music store.
Pros: I just moved here and was told by a guitar center employee that Flores music down the road has the best guy around to diagnose a problem I have with my very expensive guitar. Three shops had tried and failed at this point. I wish I could remember the technicians name; it started with a “j” I know, he takes one look at the guitar and checks a couple things. He then tells me that the problem is easily fixed. I tell him I’ve heard that before. But while I waited he fixed the buzzing problem and even corrected a couple other things that were bad. I’ve never had a guitar play this well ever! The con is when I was done thanking the savior of my taylor guitar a man from the store got mad at me for peeking my head in the shop to talk to the technician who I am trusting with my guitar. Sorry Flores music for bothering you with my business. Great repairs and lousy customer relations.
It was awesome na Kevin Gray Is such a good drum teacher
WENT HERE WITH MY MOM AND DAUGHTER , people act like they are too busy to help paying customers that have been a customer for years . SHOP AT SWEETWATER , OR SAM ASH THEY Treat you like customers not trash !! Family is done shopping here endnof story you should too this place is NO GOOD THUMBS DOWN !!
Do not visit if you have brown skin. Clearly has a preference for whites only…. cannot believe this place and the racist service exists in 2014!!! Had a horrible experience. They would rather not serve me or take my money….. beware black and brown people of Peoria!!!
When I was unhappy with the 5th string banjo capo they sold me, they didn’t offer any kind of refund or even a discount on a new installation. Instead, they reacted in what I thought was a rude and unhelpful manner. Come on people… this is customer service 101!
