Ash is an excellent teacher and worked well with my highly anxious ten-year old son. He always felt better about himself after his lessons with Ash. Great people running a great business!
Helped me pick out my very first guitar. was a wondrrful experience, affordable,
and great employees.
Ash did a great job fixing my daughter’s violin. He charged me exactly what he quoted me and gave me instructions. The store is clean and looks great. They also do some lessons here too.
2. Anchor River Inn
Address: 34358 Old Sterling Hwy, Anchor Point, AK 99556 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
Food was great and quick and service was nice too!
They have a great breakfast and the waitress is always so friendly and a very good one.
Closed indefinitely
great place to go if your hungry or need a room. the food is wonderful best chicken fried steak on the kenia peninsula
Small town feel, friendly staff
Its obvious people that have connections to this place have been doing reviews on here. This is one of the worst hotels in Alaska attached to restaurant with bad food. Just drive a little further into Homer and stay ina decent place. Brown dirty faded carpets. They never clean the rooms, even after others have stayed in them. Toilet seat is broken. Very limited list of channels. Expensive. Rude staff. You’ll get hot and cold showers if other rooms are using water. I could go on.
It’s a terrible place with terrible people, don’t expect edible food from them, don’t expect great service unless your in the table room not the bar. Do expect everything to be over priced, food poisoning, and constant creeps hanging around.
Old guy with long hair and old beat up truck that works at Anchor river inn is very rude and disrespectful. He should be greatful people even still shop there. I shure wount be because of his unprofessional attitude.
3. Alaska Music & Sound
Address: 1000 Ingra St, Anchorage, AK 99501 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
Customer service was on point. We were in and out of there in less than 5 minutes, mind you there were also other families getting instruments and supplies too.
I had two mark VI saxes overhauled by them and got my Miyazawa flute serviced there. The service was excellent and my horns play great!
Good service! My daughter is happy with her violin
Sells well made oboe reeds. Would definitely recommend buying oboe reeds here
Really friendly and helpful staff
Good service.
4. Fireweed Meadows Golf Course
Address: 72749 Milo Fritz Ave, Anchor Point, AK 99556 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
Buzz has been totally supportive in my efforts to get my 5 year old into golf. The course is nice and plays well. The greens and tees are turf, so they play faster than normal, but it also allows the course to open sooner and stay open later in the season. Great little pitch and putt. Family friendly, not often crowded. Nice driving range. Maybe not a destination course, (although I suspect it’s the western most course in North America.) Definitely a local gem.
Excellent experience. The staff was amazing and wonderful. The greens were so much fun. What a hidden gem here in Alaska. I will definitely be back.
Closed for the short season
Executive 9 with artificial grass tee boxes and greens. Easy to walk up and play, reasonable fee; they have a few slightly different tee boxes to make 18 different on the second go around. Irons only: needed, not mandated.
The fairways are quite challenging as they are very narrow between trees and also aren’t actually mowed down to a “fair” way. I had fun working the tee shots. Greens played like putt-putt with the speed. Generally enjoyable but not quite golf-y enough for 5 stars.
There is disc golf/they were adding the last couple disc golf holes as of June 2023.
Great prices, also it’s definitely a vibe.
5. Whiteys Music Shoppe
Address: 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Rd #26, Soldotna, AK 99669 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
Ready like the store very helpful and always friendly attitude thank you
Excellent service and resource for instruments and music supplies. The music lessons are a fantastic flow for the business. The staff couldn’t be more exceptional. Instrument repair and used equipment are professionally done and maintained for turnover. Prices are reasonable and flexible.
Whitey’s had a pretty good vibe. It’s not a huge music store, but it does have a decent selection of instruments to choose from. The staff was very helpful and helped me get exactly what I was looking for while making small talk. Overall a good experience. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because it’s pretty small and might not have everything you’re looking for, but it’s worth a visit to stop by and ask.
Doesn’t open till 12 o’clock and is closed on Thursdays.
Update: drove 30 miles today to come to whiteys, only to find that they were closed on Wednesday at 530 when there sign clearly stated till 6 pm….I knew this hence why I drove that from to come here……..this is infuriating…….how’s a business of such low caliber stay alive……..too bad I have to give them a star at all
6. Mammoth Music
Address: 500 E 5th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
I can’t play anything any longer but these guys are always friendly and helpful.
My favorite store in Alaska !!!!!!
Excellent service. Cody went out of his way to help me try out a few different acoustic guitars. He noticed that the action on one was a little too high and immediately took it to make an adjustment and to put new strings on it. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Anchorage!
Very helpful employees in this store not only were they helpful but patient and kind. A lot of musical stuff.
We are getting a Guitar Center in a few months, and these guys will be ‘hurtin ‘for certain ‘. Their selection is lame and overpriced, and they won’t let you even touch anything nice without two references, a credit check and a colonoscopy. Enjoy your GOOB sale, guys.
Great
I turned in my guitar for been calibrated a month ago and they didn’t work on it. I never received a call from them. I asked for my refund.
Terrible customer service. Unfriendly staff. Kind of a bummer. Good pedal selection though.
I’ve been a customer for years and was sold a broken used guitar that the salesman later told me that they knew was broken. Forget these guys, at least Guitar Center won’t scam you.

Stayed at the Halibut Campground and had a fantastic time. Even when you weren’t fishing there was plenty of things to do and see in the area.
prices. Fishing spot
8. Anchorage Guitar Central
Address: 1410 Hyder St unit a, Anchorage, AK 99501 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
Has the best service in any guitar shop I’ve ever been to. I felt inclined to write a review which I never do.
Petr added the guitar side to his violin shop. You can get anything you need here. It’s great!
I ordered a custom jaguar body and neck from Warmoth, as well as the hardware and electronics needed from various places to make a guitar. Once it all arrived, I called Guitar Central to see if they would put it together for me, they said no problem. From what seemed to be a straight forward guitar build ended up being a nightmare to put together. Things didn’t fit right and had to be routed, electronics didn’t reach and weren’t up to snuff. Also, me being an amateur when it comes to building a guitar, didn’t know exactly how much went into putting something like this together. After all was said and done, Will the technician got it put together and sounding beautiful, and I know more work was put into it than I was charged for. Thanks to Will, I now have the guitar of my dreams and couldnt be more happy. If you’re looking for great customer service and knowledgable staff, go to Guitar Central and talk to Will.
DO NOT trust these guys. I paid $250. For a small guitar for my son to learn to play. After getting home and put new strings on it they sold me it exposed a huge crack at the box and neck. I called them she said it was used so as is…expensive lesson!
NEVER AGAIN GUITAR CENTER.
9. The Music Man
Address: 4623 Old Seward Hwy, Anchorage, AK 99503 , Anchor Point , Alaska , United States
It’s a cool place if you seeking an instrument or a way to learn or some advice on how to help others in learning on how to play an instrument.
Best customer service anywhere!
Very nice helpful and taught me how to take care of my viola and you should totally go.
Great Music store
Great selection, fairly priced.
This is a great place to find anything musical. They have anything from saxophones to guitars and they have a great program for elementary students who are just getting into music. Their rent to own policy is really nice and I would definitely recommend it. Also, they sponsor lots of musical activities, like private lessons and music groups. Definitely worth checking out if you are in need of anything musical.
When I heard of them, the people told me they had all music lessons. And all instruments, I was delighted and I went. Finding no bass’, nor bass lessons. I was highly disappointed. Their set costs $80 dollars, for 4 needed items. Not including the tuner. I’m very disappointed.
Poor service, DO NOT BRING ANYTHING HERE. Your item will break at the first use and they will act like it’s your fault and not a faulty repair job. Rip off.
Just a comment regarding people who may wander in while waiting for their car to be finished with tires etc, just next door. It wouldn’t kill you to at least say hello. Just sayin’. I changed my mind on coming back here, as it seems you really don’t need my money.
