A real gem. I just had to use that. Explore tons of rocks and learn about everything from geology, chemistry, natural history, zoology, and geography, told by the owner of the store through the well-organized gems and fossils. Make your way through the intricately organize cases in the front, and discover the great rooms full of shelves of more rocks! Amazing to see this man and woman’s life of exploring and collecting.
I always love this store. They have a huge selection of rocks and fossils. My kids really like to buy a few pretty stones each time we go and I like to look at all the different types of rocks in the cases.
Have been bringing family and friends in for years. These folks have been giving back and educating California’s school age groups and parents for many decades.
The owners seem very nice and knowledgeable on stones and gems. Their collection is impressive! So much to see, and sea shells as well. They have more raw stones that jewellery but it’s still beautiful.
it’s okay but they didn’t wear masks and it was pretty expensive
Great
Overpriced but they do have some good specimens
Service is put off by people who look different (goth, punk, metalhead, etc…) Owner will rip you off if you have something of interest or withhold information about something that you may inquire about (example; if you inquire about a good place to find tourmaline – he’ll mislead you or say there is none in this county). The items in the store are not native (not from around here). Over priced – I’ve been in a lot of stone dealer shops throughout the USA – this is a rip off.
No COVID precautions were followed. I was laughed at by the owner when mentioning the mandates. Three elderly people (owners & owners sister/I overheard) Ignorant, inconsiderate and putting community health at risk. Great rock selection isn’t worth ANY lives. Go here if you would like to be at risk.
For the information of the owners: Yes. Californians must wear face coverings when in public spaces, especially indoors and other areas where physical distancing is not possible. Face coverings help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has released guidance for the use of face coverings.Oct 22, 2020 You may find this info on CA.gov

Great service, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. And they have Martin guitars. Best music shop in Calaveras as far as I’ve seen.
Church of Ukulele!

Not a good experience. The owner seemed pretty full of himself
I had two of my kids taking lessons there. The first one quit within a month because the owners wouldn’t listen about my kid’s disinterest in singing marry had a little lamb.
The other kid stuck with it for another month and was told by the owners to just quit playing guitar because they weren’t picking it up quick enough after 1.5 months.
I went in to confront them and was told that the two months was up (to avoid paying a refund for the two weeks we had left) and that they never told my kid to quit. After some prodding they admitted that they said to practice more or quit.
Regardless of what was actually said, these people are out of touch, arrogant, and all around bad teachers.

Quaint ice cream shop, with handmade flavors. We tried peach and strawberry, and loved it!!
Great homemade ice cream! Must try the Carmel Brownie! There is also a nice place out back to sit and listen to music being played.
Love love love this place. Great tasting ice cream , you must try the banana oreo flavor. It’s clean, the outside patio is cozy, and the gent who owns it is friendly and interesting.
The ice cream is very delicious 3 delicious but the service sometimes is not so nice.
Very good ice cream
Kids going to love it.
Excellent ice cream!
The ice cream was ok, supposedly handmade, but the guy who served it could’ve been a little more friendly, maybe smile and say thank you. Not a big selection. Basic flavors.
This guy has issues but ice cream was good.
I stayed at angels camp a couple months back for vacation. We wanted to try somewhere we’ve never been that was close by historical landmarks. I meant to write a review the day that I came into this shop but completely forgot until now. My family and I were exploring the town and came across this icecream shop. The man working did not greet us when we came in and all together probably only said 2 words to us while we were there. He did not seem happy that we were there. I thought okay maybe he’s having a bad day. Two minutes later a white family comes in and he gets up says hello and acts like a completely different person. I’m not one to bring race into everything but let’s just say my first impression of angels camp was that they are not friendly to brown people. I hope he’s happy that tourists won’t be coming back to the town at all.
