If you want to learn how to play any song el Rey has it covered
Unlike cookie-cutter music schools, ElRey Instructors provide a customized approach to their students. The results are my son is getting better, faster and having more fun in music, (guitar). Because of this, his confidence has increased and his school work and extracurricular activities are excelling. Highly recommend.
It’s the best for instrument lessons. No need for explaining, its just the best.
4. Guitar Center
Address: 2375 S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
I went Guitar Center to pick up my order which was placed on line earlier in the morning. My order was ready and I was in and oout of store in no time. The young man who served me was very helpful.
Cool music store to visit service is good and they have lots of instruments. I’m a drummer so I always go to the drumming section and jam a little bit.
I get all my Dj equipment there.
Love to go there to relax,i play the gatar and sing a little with the employees, and we all have a great time.
Terrible,
It’s down to the people, all of the veterans are gone
Current staff is condescending and clueless about the gear. I will never shop here again.
Never has my strings or anything I need for that matter.

I went in the store to pick up a Piano and to an exchange for a guitar that I bought for College!
Mind you the drive is long for me from Skokie.
When I walked in I was ignored and told that I’d have to go to the piano side to do the exchange. I told a big manager that Alex had put the Williams up for me. Alex then came out and said What Up??
I felt that I was disrespected at this store but it’s employees and managers!
Guitar Center is Nothing But A Joke and I recommend nobody shop at this store!!
Sadly, I wasn’t able to get the piano or another in exchange and they automatically kept me waiting I am upset and angry and hope that it’s a lesson not only for me but for others not to give stores money such as this who ignore their Customers and approach them rudely!!
I will definitely be reporting this store!
5. School of Rock
Address: 17 E Campbell St, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
We are having great experience with School of Rock in Arlington Heights. There are so many different programs. The teachers are professionals and very nice. My daughter loves her vocal classes, and she is ready to start guitar lessons.
It’s a really fun experience for young and old! Plus the owner Jim is great! Doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for years. I haven’t played for around two decades and still have a lot of fun. Having a goal makes practicing more enjoyable and music is meant to be a shared experience. Get out and play!
My son has enjoyed all his School of Rock teachers and the many opportunities they provide to expand his musical interests.
They do an excellent job trying to ensure the student experience is a positive and rich one. My daughter loves her instructor.
listened at the show at the library, very good.
6. Arlington School of Music
Address: 320 S Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
Easy and interesting people to work with. Clean store.
Great experience when I bought the instrument! I like that they have experience and can answer questions. I don’t like their repair department. You only have the choice to leave your instrument in. Why can’t a technician look at it on site? I need my instrument and I do not want a loaner. I can’t trust to leave my instrument in. What if the technician does what I don’t ask to be done. It’s a $2000 instrument.
Nice place, good people. A lot of cameras to make sure your instrument is safe. I trust my life (clarinet) with these guys.
Everything music….
Worst experience ever. We ordered an instrument 15 days ago and hasnt arrived yet. They want the payment upfront but when you call them they do not answer properly. .Everytime when I call they gave me different excuses. They gave me such a hard time to communicate and work something out. The manager does not know what professionalism is .
i no like mosik
Lost /misplaced trumpet an lent me one in return until/if they find a new one !!! How do you misplaced / not keep track an stay organized when fixing/maintaining clients instruments very disappointed wish I could give no rating very disappointing . Customer satisfaction *

We’ve been coming here for years and my daughter really enjoys the lessons and has learned a lot!
Great piano lessons, highly recommend!
My daughter took her piano lessons
with Mr. Gregor for eight years, she can play beautifully. My son started to play when he was five years old and he is still continuing. Wonderful skill to have.
Great as always
10. Tritone Music School
Address: 838 Arthur Ave, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
Very friendly music school with excellent teachers. Very good at getting kids into playing music.
Fantastic music school!! My son has improved so much on the piano since starting here. Andy is a wonderful teacher! Highly recommend!
What fun! I am a retired senior adult who had never taken a piano lesson in my life before starting at Tritone Music School. As piano lessons were on my to-do list, I started there almost immediately upon retirement and have now been a student of Tritone for over 4 years. I work with Chieko and she has proven to be very patient, kind and knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoy the non-traditional style of teaching and the fun way of learning that is encouraged and communicated. I highly recommend Tritone for both children and adults. You are in for a treat!
11. Northwest Piano and Voice Lessons
Address: 1505 E Central Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
Very helpful staff and a large selection of brass instruments. One of the best brass repair technicians as well. Check this place out if you are a brass musician in the Chicago area!
The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We were very happy with the selection of instruments to try, and the products and service were excellent!
One of the best places I’ve ever been through for Trumpets! They’re super nice and you get to try the trumpets without any hassle whatsoever!
Good for repairs.not so good on consignment
I went in with my son to find a good intermediate to introductory professional level trumpet and we worked with Jose. Jose did a great job helping us. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.
At the same time, I also had a flute on consignment with them and the plan was to apply the flute toward the purchase of the trumpet. I spent $300 in repairs getting the flute ready to sell on consignment, didn’t like how my case was repaired from the start, and wasn’t sure if they ever showed it to any potential customer (because they told me they keep no record of this). In the end, I worked with Bonnie (the owner) hammering out the details of the trumpet sale. She offered me $100 for my flute toward the sale of the trumpet. I told her from the beginning I was not happy with the flute case repair and was wondering if I could apply the portion I spent on the repair toward a new case (thinking if I did decide to leave it on consignment at least if they showed it to a customer the case handle did not seem loose and about ready to fall off). She said no, that I had it repaired two years ago, and that I should have said something then. I told her I said I wasn’t happy from the start , but the reply from the store was “this is the best we can do”. No offer to give me credit to apply to a new case then. I was surprised at Bonnie’s lack of professionalism in dealing with clients, especially one who was about to spend almost $2000 in her store. She was rude when I said I was dissatisfied with the flute case repair and asked for that portion to be applied to a new case. In the end, she gave me the $20 I was looking for toward the price of the trumpet. She only did this when I said I was going to communicate my negative experience (and only after her saying “are we finished here-can I go back to what I was doing?” in a very sassy tone as if what she was doing in back was more important than working with a customer in front. I ended up taking my flute out of consignment. She nearly killed the $2000 trumpet deal as I was about ready to walk out of the store. In the end, I looked at my son, the trumpet, and Jose (who did such a nice job helping us) and decided to purchase the trumpet on both of their accounts. I give this store two stars. Jose’s professionalism kept it from getting just one.
Didn’t want to take the time to rent an instrument, kept pushing me aside to take faster services. I went to Quinlan and Fabish instead who were really helpful.
In response to the owner, I had no qualms stepping aside for the one customer, but then the clerk asked for a customer who had just entered the store to also step forward to take care of his needs first. That is the moment I realized my business was better suited elsewhere. The fact that the owner has time to sit and read reviews instead of serving the clients where there is clearly a need is a great sample of their business.
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in 44 years as a professional musician! I wouldn’t allow any friend, enemy or student do business with this company! I recently tried out two horns. They sent them both to me, charging me 350.00 for shipping…rip-off. One horn was in such poor playing condition that it was back in the box in 5 minutes. The second wasn’t as as bad, but not good enough to keep. I sent them both back, at my expense, and was charged 15% to “restock”. These consigned horns. I called to see if there was anything they could do to not charge me for this, and was denied. So, it cost me over 1000.00 to try out two French horns. I would tell any band director, private teacher to NEVER do business with these crooks! I would give no stars, but it’s not an option.
16. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 1305 W Dundee Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 , Arlington Heights , Illinois , United States
I went into the store to pickup a two headed Hercules guitar stand. didn’t have it in stock. They ordered it for me and had it delivered within 2 days. price was competitive with online retailers. feels good supporting a local store, even if it is a chain. Would be great to see their studio equipment room better set up. The monitor test wall isn’t set up for trying stuff, which might bring more foot traffic in.
Always the best experience at Sam Ash. Knowledgeable, fun, and caring staff. Shop seriously or just go have a great time playing around with what’s new. Great selections of used gear to choose from too. Lots of sheet music, and lessons. Big box store with a friendly neighborhood corner store attitude.
Skip Guitar Center! Sam Ash could equip an entire band. The people there are always knowledgeable and helpful. It’s like going to Abt versus Best Buy!
It was good, all staff were friendly and professional.
People are mostly nice, store is mostly not too noisy
Good store
Some employees are nice like the guy in drums but others won’t even give me the time of day. I go in with my boyfriend all the time and they will talk to him but ignore the crap out of me. They kind of treat me like I fallow him and his friend around and don’t play anything. When in reality I play bass in a band and I’ve played a wind instrument for 9 years. Other than the guy in drums no one has ever asked me anything about music, what I played, or if I was looking to buy anything. I work in customer service and this is totally not how it should be done.
I called ahead of time for a product. The associate assured me they had it and reserved one. When I got there, they apparently “sold the kit reserved for me” and I had to spend more money than I had budgeted. there was no discount offered or anything. I am thinking they said that just so they could get me to spend more money.
Disappointing… Overpriced, poor return policy, high restocking fees. Better find another store. Look up the same stuff they sell on Amazon – always find a better price. Comparing with Amazon’s and other stores’ return policy, Sam Ash – outsider.
