Dylan Keel is the best luthier in Athens, Georgia! Dylan repairs guitars for many working musicians. Highly recommended for guitar repairs!!!
Dylan is the best! Great place to pop in for a chat, buy guitars or amps, and get your guitar work done.
I have had Dylan repair, rework and completely rebuild several of my guitars at this point! Dylan does amazing work, does it fast and is also just happens to be one of the coolest guys in the biz!
Set up, new nuts, rewiring electronics, refrets, structural repairs, even neck resets and full custom builds….Dylan does it all.
He and Classic City Guitars are local treasures for musicians around here.

World class operation! Nick and his guys are the best!
You won’t find a better tone or service from a boutique than Greer. I’ve had my light-speed overdrive on my board for years and have no plans to remove or replace it anytime soon. There’s a reason Zac Brown Band, Walk The Moon, Sheryl Crow, and many more bands’ guitarists use gear by Greer.
Greer Amps products and above all else their service is second to none. I will only be purchasing my pedals and amps from them from here on out!

I wouldn’t even care about the prices or the vibe, it’s the people there who make this place awesome. They made me feel special but even more, they made my 10 year old autistic son feel special. Thanks guys. I will tell everyone to go to you and nowhere else!
Amazing last of it kind special place my favorite spot to go too
Such a unique place with great customer assistance! A true historic and hidden gem of Georgia!
Love all the comics
pretty expensive
This shop has a great vinyl selection, however if you are looking to trade any records in please consider a different shop! Took some records into there shop to trade for store credit and was offered $7 to $10 dollars for records that they could easily sell for $100-$150 each. I understand mark up and how it works but would expect at least half of resale value on a trade. When I asked why the offers were so low I was told “I have some records by those bands, just not these.” I said because they are rare and limited issues and there next response was…….”oh these are some of there more rare albums.” Haha rip off artist!!!!! Don’t waste your time.
I was at Wuxtry today to meet Micky Dolenz. So while my experience with the actual store was only about three feet into the fridge my door…it’s been the best day of my life! Thank you to Wuxtry for bringing Monkees fans like me such an amazing event!!!
Owner is rude and would never do business here. would leave negetive reviews if i could.
I just got a record player for Christmas from my mom, so I decided to go to this record place downtown. I was really excited about going and couldn’t wait to pick out a record to play on the new player. The store was organized and I easily found the section I was looking for, and the guy working was nice when I paid and left. The reason that this review is one star is because of what happened afterwards. When I bought the record, it was labeled as near mint condition. I went home and played the record all the way through, but realized that there was a skipping. I called the store and spoke to the guy who helped check me out the first time, and decided to come back in the next day to have them look at it. He played only one side of the record and refused to admit there was any skipping in the record because he had labeled it near mint. The skipping is very prominent towards the end of the record, but he didn’t play that far. He was not very nice about it and critiqued the fact that I probably didn’t have a good quality record player. It was a very rude experience, so I just left and took the record with me. I have played other records on the new player and they have no issues. It is the record I bought there. There are a bunch of other record stores in the area that have great owners who are really helpful and I have had many positive experiences at others, but this one was not good. I won’t shop here at this store again for a record because I can’t trust it to be labeled correctly and play correctly on the player. If you end up shopping here, I hope your experience is better than mine and find a great record for your collection, but overall, my experience was not good because of the quality and rudeness.
6. Low Yo Yo Stuff Records

Best record store in Athens. It’s obvious they really care that you actually like their inventory and are willing to expand it to your liking. They are awesome and everyone should spend their money here.
No joke, the reviews aren’t kidding about this place. Todd and Michael are the best. Also, there are some DVDs in the back of the store… way more than just records!
Awesome shop – was super excited to find a bunch of mid-90s pop punk that was missing from my collection. Dude was kind enough to throw in a 7″ by my old band, A Mercy Union. Thanks again!!!
They have a lot of music.
While the selection isn’t absolutely massive like other record stores around the nation advertise, this store has a more deliberately chosen selection that makes it feel like it isn’t just a warehouse with the goal of dumping all of its inventory as soon as it can. You can find some real nice rarities in here.
Good selection of cds and records. The guy working there seemed very knowledgeable about the music I bought. This place would be easy to miss if you were new to the area because the window front is small.
DONT CALL THE NUMBER ON GOOGLE. ITS MY PERSONAL NUMBER. Y’all need to change your phone number on google. It’s LITERALLY MY CELL PHONE NUMBER. I’m sick of getting calls looking for your store.
7. The Record Booth
Address: 1743 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605 , Athens , Georgia , United States
One of if not the best place in Athens for vinyl. Everything is reasonably priced and I have found albums here that I’d never seen anywhere else.
Extensive selection of vinyl at great prices! Vintage stereo receivers & turntables are also available. Alan is extremely knowledgeable in a broad spectrum of music genres. Looking for something specific? He will work to find it for you. He travels all over to find the best vinyl. If you haven’t gone by yet, you’re missing out!
Great vintage antique shop. 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s a bit pricey. They know the value of their products, so there are few bargains.
Dope
Great place to shop, had a good selection of different venues of music.

Great customer service. Huge selection of music equipment for beginners as well a for seasoned musicians. Comparable pricing, plus many , many on sale items every week. Zach is a great store manager and care for his customers.
Bought my first ukulele today.
They were patient with me.
I bought a fender ukulele.
Thw sound is great and I am excited about learning to play it.
Smaller than most, but had all the essentials and more.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Went to buy a keyboard for my husband, had no clue what I was looking for. The staff walked me through each keyboard and I walked away with one that my husband loves.
Its an alright place if your just browsing and convienient if you need something right away and your in town. Over all this is not an impressive guitar center still a step up above your standard neighborhood music store but leaves much to be desired. Its small, the employees aren’t all that helpful or knowlagwable about much of anything, The drum/percussion selection is practically nonexistant I regularly frequent many stories in and around Atlanta and I’d say if you can take the extra time to make it over to Lawrenceville out would be more worth your while.
I never write reviews but I wanted to warn anyone who was considering getting their guitar worked on in athens. I took my acoustic in a month ago to get the action lowered a little bit. I was told that it would take a day or so. I picked it up after a month. I now have an unplayable guitar with a broken tuner after not playing for a month. I understand that accidents happen but this was all handled in an extremely unprofessional manner. He never communicated with me as to what was really going on and I had to basically track him down to figure out what was going on. There’s just no excuse for how this played out.
The staff didn’t seem interested in giving me any help or advice on choosing a new guitar.
Drove from Atlanta for a used guitar in “great” condition. Not only did electronics not work, but guitar had cracks in binding and finish completely worn off on portion of back of guitar. If that’s “great” condition I’d hate to see “good.” Waste of time, money, gas, etc.
