I went for a local artist concert. It was nice and a nice selection of vintage items &vinyls
One of the best managed record stores I’ve ever been in.
Great local store, hard to find certain records but overall cleN nice place with good prices. There is even a little lego table set up for the kids to play.
Love going down town. This store was in an old building and they sell vinyl albums.I loved it .So many of the albums I had or my friends had when we where teenagers. I had to explain to my daughter what a 45 record use.One song on each side and you played over and over.
Nice selection and great deals!
This store is terrible. The worst customer service I’ve ever received. Their selection of records was awful. Will not be going back.
I went up to this store a few minutes ago to try & find a record I’ve been looking for forever. We went at 823 and the store was CLOSED, even though it says it closes at 900 on Friday’s. There was no sign or any indication that the store would have been closed early. I understand that the day before was July 4th, but we went on July 5th. HIGHLY disappointed.
Terrible store. Worst customer service ever. Their collection of records was ok at best. Will never be going back.
3. Antique Violins of Augusta
Address: 222 2nd St, Augusta, GA 30901 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
Absolutely fabulous shop. Great quality instruments and repair, fantastic music lessons. A real family atmosphere!
Brought my violin in for repair. They were very knowledgeable, took their time helping me pick out a new bridge, explained when and where my instrument was made and were very fast with the repairs. I would recommend this shop for anyone who needs a repair or new instrument.
Now that I have discovered that Augusta has a luthier, this has become my favorite spot. I have taken my instrument into the shop to have a few repairs done, including reshaping a bridge, adjusting the sound post, planing the fingerboard, and reshaping the neck of my violin. The quality of the work was top notch, and I had my violin back the same day for the minor work. For the more complicated repair, the owners actually let me borrow one of their instruments while mine was being worked on, a really nice service that I hadn’t even expected. Nathaniel and Jonathan are both very friendly and helpful, and you can tell they really care about the work they do. Antique Violins of Augusta is now my go-to music store.
They are horrible at returning phone calls or emails. I have called several times but no one has responded.
4. Psychotronic Records
Address: 859 1/2 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30901 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
The store is small, but packed from floor to ceiling with records, posters, a few vintage books, and other miscellaneous stuff. I highly recommend it, especially when you have time to really look around.
Lots of great vintage vinyl and the owner is a really cool guy!
A small record store! They have discount section that I always find my fav albums. It’s definitely struggle to look through them but totally worth the time!
If looking through cases of records, and reliving nostalgic memories from the past is your aesthetic, then this is your place. ❤
Lots of good stuff in a small shop.
Bring your digging fingers, there’s a lot of merchandise here, perhaps too much-but time spent here will guarantee a find without going too far in. Posters, beads, shirts, comics, books on media, no one should skip Psychotronic if wall to wall records is what grinds your gears.
I sold this guy plenty of albums, and you know that you don’t get much for them when you sell to a store, and of course they are in the business to make I understand that. I asked him if he would give me a price on a collection that I like, call him the next day and he said don’t you have some all ready. I thought the records were for sale. One thing for sure Michael and Psychotronic won’t get any more albums or business from me again.
The owner is absolutely rude and has zero customer service. We walked into the store yesterday and he was right there at the checkout counter directly to the left, sitting there and did not speak or welcome us into his store. We browsed around the front records and then we went to his counter to ask him if the store had any new unopened arrivals. He said “no, mainly old” without even looking up or giving eye contact… so we turned and walked towards the back to keep browsing and we noticed a WHOLE SECTION to the back left of NEW UNOPENED records….. we were then confused as to why the man didn’t simply tell us about the section when we asked about it. We decided to leave. Out of my own habit I say “thank you” when leaving stores. So I said thank you as I walked out, and the man said absolutely nothing back. Just rude and cold. I will never spend my hard earned money in a place where I’m not welcomed. There are several other record stores in town, please go support the other ones.
5. Berkshire Guitars
Address: 428 5th St, Augusta, GA 30901 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
AJ @ Berkshire Guitars really knows his craft through and through. I’ve had a 6 string baritone guitar I bought used well over a year ago that I never could quite get set up to my full liking. The same guitar, after a set up at Berkshire and a just few short days wait, now plays better than I ever would’ve imagined. A salut!
First off I want to say I’m very picky when it comes to my guitars and these guys blew me away. Their attention to detail is impeccable. I had two American Standard Strat’s that had some fret buzz due to high frets and they leveled, dressed and polished the frets to perfection. Now they both play like butter with absolutely no buzz. They also custom fit a bone nut to one of my Strat’s and it was extremely well done. Another thing I like is their pricing, it is very reasonable for the quality of work you get. They’re currently working on my 5 sting jazz bass and I can’t want to get that back. I am so happy that I finally found a skilled luthier to work on my guitars. They will definitely be getting more of my business and I’m telling my friends too.
Nice ladies working the front counter- both seemed to have some knowledge under the belt, and the little shop is pretty darn cool. They also stocked most of the parts I would have needed to update a couple guitars I took in. But I’m a bit sceptical as to whether or not they really performed the inspections on my guitars, bottom line is one visibly needs a nut replacement and the other a truss-rod and bridge/saddle adjustment which I was prepared to drop some serious cash having it done professionally. I would recommend the staff get a proper mat and neck support onto your front counter for customers to rest a guitar on when leaving them with y’all, and be careful not to graze the glass or counter edge with a customer guitar. I say all this to be helpful from my 25+ years of experience- this is exactly the kind of place I want to exceed, be successful, and take my money.
They do good work at reasonable prices.
Nice customer service just not what I needed.
Sorta disappointing. No new guitars, limited selection and could not even see luthiers work. Lady working register was really sweet and personable.
I gave them my amp to be fixed and when I got it back they said everything was working fine, but the problem got worse. I took it back again and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it so they gave it back. Yet the issue didn’t go away and then it just died so it’s unusable. The staff was very nice and I’m all for small businesses, but this one didn’t meet any expectations.
Berkshire performed a complete fret replacement for me. They did not inquire about what frets I preferred or what type of action I played with…my fault for not informing them regardless of if they asked. When I picked up the guitar, I inquired about some “dead” frets and the “luthier” basically told me I didn’t know what I was talking about. When I asked to have it fixed, he told me it was a minor shim and it was good. I have been playing the guitar now for a couple weeks and I cannot get the guitar to play without it fretting out 12th fret and above. I finally removed the neck to see if maybe the shim was the issue, but to my surprise there was no shim in the neck pocket. So…not only did the “luthier” talk down to me, he blatantly lied to me about the work he performed hoping that I do not know any better. So now…I am stuck having to pay another tech to perform work I have already paid once to have completed. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Berkshire and do not recommend the shop to anyone. I can accept mistakes and having to remedy problems…what I cannot accept is a business that lacks integrity.
6. Pulse Recording Studio
Address: 756 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30904 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
Had an AMAZING audio and video recording here! Very professional and they work with the BEST equipment! Book your appointment with them today!!
Great Establishment for All your Professional Music Needs
Morgan always does an amazing job with my recordings and videos!
All and all if I had to redo my experience w Green Light I would’ve chosen a different studio. The professionalism wasn’t all there. They harassed about a payment but took their time delivering services smh. Stop telling lies and just do better.
Nathan has been a God-send! I had gotten to the point that I wondered if I would ever find a technician with the knowledge, enthusiasm, & dedication to help me bring my Mason & Hamlin BB to its true, traditional, classical tonal capabilities. The entire piano world these days seems to be into a hard, loud, brassy sound, with very little dynamic contrast – let alone any real tone variation. I really don’t see how anyone can produce the actual characteristics of classical music on such instruments. . . . . well, you can’t . . . .really – unless a tech spends ENORMOUS amounts of time trying to properly voice hammers that are hard as a ROCK from the factory. And even then, whatever you get won’t last very long. So, Nathan has been “all – in” from the beginning, working with me with great enthusiasm, and we have replaced the hammers & bass strings with much higher quality, appropriate ones for my objectives, and continue to work with the voicing, etc. It has become our own little R & D project, and it is quite a transformation. My dream piano is finally becoming a reality !

My son no longer complains everyone else’s piano sounds better than our hand me down 1951 Chickering! Even after a cross country move. THAT is music to my ears.
Excellent communication, extremely fast turn around for scheduling, wonderful service-with a smile! — plus bonus —he’s a talented pianist -so part of the process was like listening to a mini concert.
Very personable, great attitude and seemed happy to be doing what he does. Was so impressed I asked to be put on reminder/ notification service to let us know when it’s time to schedule the next tuning. Sends texting reminders and updates/confirmations prior to appointment. Offers cleaning of pianos as well—which we will opt for next time. Also takes pmts via popular payment apps. Confident we don’t need to try anyone else.
Excellent service, very professional! We highly recommend. He even played some for us when he was done – what an amazing musician!
10. BottomLine Studios
Address: 802 Ellis St, Augusta, GA 30901 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
Great service, they fixed my little sisters guitar, been going there for awhile, usually pretty cheap
Its aesthetic! A cool place to be creative and fine tune your craft with lessons
Always friendly staff, great selection of guitars. We have been there countless times and have never been disappointed.
Very nice personnel, I was treated very politely and helped. My only grievance was that the item I went to get (which showed on stock) was an open box item and seemed like it shouldn’t be re selled to any customer.
I visited during the holiday season. I was looking to get some help in regards to audio interfaces and recording music. During this visit there was no one available to help in this department. There were two employees at the register on their phones when not waiting on customers.
I was there for about 20-30 minutes and played 1 electric guitar, 3 acoustic guitars and 1 piano. Not one employee that passed me during my visit asked if I needed help!
Given the holiday season I expected way more engagement and up selling from the staff and didn’t get either!
Waited for curb side delivery 40 min finally called and they said just to come in followed all the steps it said to with no reply on line
My husband called to inquire about drum sets for our grandson. Once we arrived at the store, the sales guy showed us what we were looking for. The female cashier, (who was on her phone the entire time with her sunglasses on) wasn’t very professional. She pointed us to which direction we needed to go for the items we were looking for.
Worst guitar center I’ve ever been to! I was lied to about taking equipment in on trade just so they could sell me something at full price and the guy at the front counter with the little chin beard was EXTREMLY rude! I would not waste my money at this store!
I’d shop at your store if you didn’t mandate masks! Just bought a Roland VAD506 kit btw…

17. Portman’s Music Superstore
Address: 3946 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30907 , Augusta , Georgia , United States
Use to come in here for guitar stuff when I was younger. Recently picked up DJing and decided to swing by to check out lighting equipment. Everyone is still extremely kind and helpful!
I love this music shop . They have a very large virity of instrments.
The people there are welcoming and professional. They have an excellent training program for many different instruments. My daughter enjoys going there for her music lessons.
Overall the best place for music in town. I was a litlle disappointed recently that they didn’t have a wider selection of guitar primers but this is still my music store.
Small hometown music store.
Extreme/ignorant behavior the manager owner avoided showing instruments by running as if he had diarrhea. The associate behind the counter came out and offered to help but couldn’t give a real answer to what or why the other sales person couldn’t stand still, by this time he was outside looking in the mailbox, and i’m wondering why he ever asked me to follow him only to be ran from as if I were the ghost of Frederick Douglass.
All the guitars are cheap and overpriced and there’s very little variety. Mostly strats and fake strats.
Rude staff! I needed to exchange a rental instrument for a larger size and was told they needed to order one. That’s fine but after a week when I heard nothing I stopped in and they had no work order or anything for my exchange. It took 20 minutes for them to help me and they STILL didn’t have what I needed. I was renting two instruments from them and planning to buy another one. They lost my business for good with their rude and incompetent employees, go somewhere else and save yourself the trouble.

Very friendly staff and great selection of musical instruments.
I’ve known the owners for years, I used to come in there old location every week before I moved. Its really the only place in Augusta to find cool used trade-ins. Vera is a super sweet lady and Doug is really fair on trades.
It’s the same Jays in a new location. They have a nice selection of gear, but be ready for the owners to be on you like hawks to buy something asap.
I placed an item on layaway and every time I went to make a payment the store was closed. When I requested a refund I was told that they don’t give refunds. I recommend that NO ONE does business with this place. They are both prejudice and scammers!!!
Staff the older gentlemen is not the friendliest and the woman is not too knowledgeable on their products. New location is cleaner than the old one but still stock remains on shelves for a long time and not upkept. A few guitars i played were not tended to. Dead strings and grimey fretboards. Not good
Not shoppable, no defined path. Much of the stock is in cardboard boxes skewed across the store. The owner pays no attention to the customers. Most products have no price labeled on them, but you can’t get the owner’s attention long enough to ask the prices.

Fantastic music store! Great selection and very helpful staff. Bought a Bass, Bass Amp, Strings, Strap, case, cable for about $500!
I was extremely happy with my experience and value on purchase!
Plus they do military discount!
I highly recommend this store for any music gear you may need!
Staff is super friendly and willing to work with you to find exactly what you need at a fair, sometimes even negotiable, price.
Staff was really friendly and helped me through the process of buying what I need. If you need anything for your musical journey this is definitely the place to go.
Local staff is absolutely fabulous!
Kind and helpful each time I’ve visited. They have gone above and beyond to help us with purchases questions and repairs.
BUT, this is a big nationwide company so when it comes to billing questions or issues you have to call thier customer service line and that is always a big hassle in my experience. You can’t update cards and such online, the wait time to speak to anyone has always been 30+ minutes for me and they often give inaccurate information on pricing and/or billing dates.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the employees in the actual store being so awesome I’d just go through a different company for my child’s band rental, but they really are that good that I’m willing to overlook the corporate problems
