Love DJ the family is grat to their loyalty customers
Very clean. Customers must wash their hands and wear a mask, I appreciate that, but the pedicure was rushed and sloppy. The person next to me was started at least 10 minutes before me and was still in the chair when I left. I feel like I was short changed.
Area is sketchy
Great pedicure and eye brow waxing, can’t get my nails right for nothing.
DJ very rude, horrible service and I would not recommend. All he care about is getting your money.
This is maybe my third time here. All three times I’ve never had the chance to get my nails done because it’s too slow. I usually don’t complain but it’s unprofessional that nobody ever acknowledge that you’re there until a half hour in.
This guy that work there lied and cheated me on my nails. I should of looked at there prices. Cant trust no one word. Got to look for yourself. Plus my nail still got scuffed up even though I dried it. Horrible experience. I will not come back.
10. Planet Plu Recording Studio
Address: 16739 Greenwood Ave, South Holland, IL 60473, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
The professionalism, warmth and expertise in this Grammy Award nominated studio; doesn’t even prepare you for the excellent quality product that produced there. I HIGHLY recommend this studio.
Excellent quality of work, and very professional.
Plu is the man! Excellent service at reasonable prices and he literally has EVERYTHING ready and available for what you need.
Home based very professional
11. Down Home Guitars
Address: 11 S White St, Frankfort, IL 60423, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
Down Home Guitars is an excellent place to purchase an instrument – the walls are filled with guitars, banjos, mandolins, etc. – all top quality, from starter models to the premier collectables. I have performed in the concert room numerous times and the space provides an excellent listening opportunity for any type of music. All of this in addition to the fact that Steve and his staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about instruments and sound – and they offer lessons on most string instruments. I feel fortunate to have such a top quality store so close to my home – they always have whatever musical supplies I need.
Steve, Frank, and Molly are the best at what they do. True professionals! Down Home Guitar went above band beyond to ensure I was satisfied with my Martin guitar purchase. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Steve answered all our questions for being beginning guitar players. Beautiful store and great experience. I highly recommend!
The store carries beautiful high-end acoustic instruments. They also hold some impressive seminars and concerts. If you want the very best and can spend 6K on a guitar then this store may be for you. With a larger wallet, perhaps you will receive better treatment than I did. The red-haired owner of this store is probably the rudest retail store owner I have ever experienced. Of course, I wasn’t there to spend thousands of dollars. I simply went there to buy picks, strings, tab books, and to explore and discuss instruments with other music lovers. My initial visits were often greeted by cold, stiff, and awkward personalities. After multiple visits, I expected things would warm up, and while some staff were friendly, it was never a comfortable experience. This was especially true whenever the owner was present. Pompous and arrogant seem apt descriptions, and small talk and small wallets are beneath him.
12. Axes Music Group
Address: 19715 South La Grange Road Suite 3, Mokena, IL 60448, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
Great service. And an awesome selection. They didn’t have what I was looking for yet they still called around to try and find it. Awesome place. Definitely will be going back.
13. North Shore Music
Address: 405 1/2 Linden Ave, Wilmette, IL 60091, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
My 13 year-old son has been taking drum lessons at North Shore Music for 2 years. He’s also in the studio’s band camp which places him with other students to form a rock band. They perform in public around Wilmette. He absolutely loves it and so do we parents. Alejandro and his staff are terrific!
This is an awesome place to improve your skills in music. The owner really knows his stuff and the staff is always helpful when it comes to rescheduling lessons. Can’t recommend enough.
Highly recommend! Alejandro went out of his way to accommodate us and it is much appreciated. So nice to deal with a music shop that is not corporate, wonderful to have someone who is proud of his craft and supportive of the community as well as their love of music!!!
14. Luscombe Music Inc
Address: 122 W Vallette St, Elmhurst, IL 60126, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
The staff here is fantastic! Very helpful, and very patient with us less than musically inclined folks.
Yearly music by the pound sale is AMAZING
The teachers are great but the instruments and rentals are not so great, since the recent downsize, you can’t find some things there.
Extremely unprofessional. We got on the wait list, waited 2 months and got a call saying they had a spot for our day and time. We returned the call the next day saying we wanted to start as soon as possible. Office called us back saying the the instructor, Elizabeth Olson, should be calling us to make the final arrangements. She called the Sunday of MLK weekend, we were with family the next two days. We connected Tuesday and she wanted to do an assessment on the day we agreed on but a time that didn’t work and wasn’t agreed upon. She said she understood and arranged the following week on the original agreed upon time and day. We accepted, then she messages us and said she found another client that would use the extra day and bumped us out. When we questioned her motive, she said this is just business.
way over priced
15. Tobias Music
Address: 5013 Fairview Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
Tobias is the perfect combination of quality, good deals, and friendly/excellent service. Buy your guitar and supplies here and bring your instruments in for servicing here. Whether you’re an acoustic guitar (uke, mando, etc.) aficionado, fledgling, or at any level in-between, you do not need another music store. Absolutely love the Stonebridge 6 string and Taylor 12 string guitars I bought from Tobias!
Best dealer of Taylor guitars and we got to meet and greet Taylor CEO Andy Powers!
Back when I lived in LaGrange this was my favorite music store. The service was always outstanding, the people friendly and patient. I’m planning on visiting the area this summer. Maybe I’ll buy another guitar this visit!
***EDIT***
So, I am knocking down my review from five stars to three; due to my most recent experience a couple months after the first one. So I reached backout to buy another guitar (place order) as I really wanted an AD22e or another model I can’t remember, but after confirming they could place the order I let them know that I wanted the AD22e and to provide me the full price so we could close the deal and they went silent, mind you I didn’t even get a copy of the receipt from my AD27e that never came which I had also requested from the last conversation.
I did finally get my guitar ordered but I had a national retailer place the order. I was disappointed I didn’t hear back from Tobias Music about completing the purchase and obtaining a copy of the receipt for my AD27e that never came.
** original **
Just bought an AD27e (Taylor) from them after finding it for sale online. it was a great buying experience. I’m a lefty, buying guitars online is the norm, and most of the time guitars I buy take a day or two to pack and ship. we had a few emails back and forth and they were quick to respond and very professional. These guys had it packed and shipped the same day, and I didn’t place my order until after lunch; that’s service.
They also took the time to dial the guitar in; it came with the action set and was tuned ready to play out of the box. Paul did a great job and really made this buying experience easy, and hassle free. I’ll have to check back often to see what other lefty guitar they get in. If I have the chance, I will buy from them again.
They are more of a acoustic guitar place not really a place for bass players .
16. PM Music Center
Address: 4411 Fox Valley Center Dr, Aurora, IL 60504, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
PM music is a pleasure to rent from. The customer service is fantastic. Their repair and replacement policy are a part of their already very reasonably priced rentals. My son had an issue and was in need of loaner and Jason went above and beyond.
Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Even willing to stay open after closing for us.
Renting or purchasing, this business is fantastic. They even looked at repairing a cello we bought online to determine if it was wise to proceed or not. You will be amazed at the on the spot servicing of any problems with your instrument. They also stock the books needed for the local schools.
Great place with very friendly staff members. They’re always willing to help. I used them for instrument rental for a couple of my kids.
Very friendly and welcoming place. Had an issue with a repair but they corrected the problem. Took more than stop to resolve the issue, so 4 out 5 stars. Would still recommend and will continue to shop here.
Good
17. Kagan and Gaines Music Co., Inc
Address: 7655 Roosevelt Rd, Forest Park, IL 60130, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
I’ve been Kagan and Gaine’s customer for the past 4 months but couple of weeks back I decided to buy a new violin, Jesse was super helpful with providing me with everything that I need without me being in store because of quarantine. after deciding which violin I want to buy Jesse walked me through a virtual tour through the shop to pick a case and then the owner gave me a good discount to have everything fit my budget. great customer service from this place and they have high quality instruments and accessories.
Top shelf repair, sales and service. I send my students here and have made many purchases here over the years. I recommend them without reservation.
I didn’t know they carried a whole selection of cables for audio production. I popped in on my lunch break and they had a whole wall of product for studio/live work. Definitely going back to support a local business when I need more cabling.
I gave this place a bad review after dealing with a younger employee But when the manager was alerted to the situation (A few days later) it was dealt with fairly. Kagan and Gains has a long time reputation in their neighborhood of being the first choice for musical lessons of any instrument and Fair pricing on instruments and accessories. It may not be the best place to shop for a new guitar But they can handle all your needs afterwords. I recommend them for all your strings, Guitar cases, Band instruments, ect. You will find all of them are of good quality and pricing.
I have had great success with Kagan.& Gaines..
Since my daughter started Violin back in 2006
They were able to help me with a 1/2 size , a 3/4 violin and now my daughter is in a full size French made violin.
Excellent service and knowledge of violins.
They have helped my daughter become the great young violinist she is, as this is where it all started for my Alexis.
Having a great selection of violins to choose from.
45 dollars for an on the spot (30 min) electric guitar restring, minus the price for the strings, is a little steep, folks. I appreciate the good work, but I can get the same treatment for a lot less at A Sound Education off Ogden.
I hate to agree with the user below who complained of a dishonest experience, but we are going through the same. I’ve read all of the other 5 star reviews and notice a pattern: it seems that for violin and stringed instruments, this is a great place. For renting brass/woodwind instruments via their monopoly with the school districts, they are subpar and dishonest. We should have just purchase a used instrument which would have resulted in us obtaining a superior instrument at, I am not exaggerating, 1/4 the total cost. We just had to call them to stop processing our credit card when we noticed we had been paying an abnormally long time on my daughter’s VERY USED, VERY DENTED saxophone (4 years!). We were “reassured” that, coincidentally, they were just going to call us as well as our payments happened to be completed. Yet they have no records of all the payments that we made, and are asking us to provide payment records going back to 2017 to “prove” how much we have paid in total. Luckily for us, we can easily provide them as they have all been made on the same credit card for years. We are also disputing the amount owed as our daughter’s original “nicer” model saxophone broke, was taken in for repairs, and she was given a loaner, student-model, older and dented sax. Her other one was never repaired and instead she’s just had this one forever. We were told at the time it would be “worked out.” Now they want us to pay the same amount as they were going to charge for the initial instrument to keep this replacement instrument permanently, as they also claim to have NO record that any switch was ever made or that the original saxophone was ever brought in for repairs. Typically, I endeavor to support neighborhood shops, but not when their record keeping is straight out of Mayberry. This is taking a lot of our time and energy to sort out, and we’ve ultimately laid out over $2300 to own an instrument that I have found at multiple music stores online for around $600 and under. We understand that renting the own is typically more expensive, but this feels like being swindled in every way. Extremely disappointed. My husband has been playing music for over 40 years – he also used to play saxophone – and his mother is a professional classical musician. He is used to dealing with all sorts of music shops and has never had an experience like this one.
18. Dollar Tree
Address: 1949 Sibley Blvd, Calumet City, IL 60409, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
Great Cashiers and Great staff! Need more inventory though.
Sells a variety of stuff I love
Lots of good deals!
Clean place
I give this particular dollar tree a 3 star rating because of the rude nature of one cashier. However the store is usually very well stocked and when I visit I can usually find what I want.
They are poorly stock and not convenient for the elderly and people with disabilities.
Will not give you cash back.
Wasn’t stock
The store in general… good. Same as when it was DEALS. Good prices and products good. I was there a few weeks ago and my son.. a 1 year old.. yes young and TIRED at the time had a balloon we paid for let it go to the ceiling.. so my husband said to my daughter get another one… she did.. and he let it go again .. in the end he let the 2 go and my husband wanted him to have one…so the cashier was trying to seem nice but she wasn’t and said I know he is a baby but that’s 2 balloons… well my husband said I’ll pay for THEM…and he did..3 of them..and we only left with 1… I’m just writing this because we still have the 3rd balloon that’s still perfectly fine with air and I know the store doesn’t still have them on the ceiling.. I’m sure they got their ladder out and got them down and resold the balloons.. rude cashier .. in my opinion

20. Guitar Works, Ltd.
Address: 709 Main St, Evanston, IL 60202, United States , Burnham , Illinois , United States
I am not a guitarist, yet. I have had a few stop-and-go attempts at it and I’m trying again. I bought my guitar a long while ago and I’ve never had it serviced before. I took it to Guitar Works this week to get the strings replaced and they told me there was some other work needing to be done with the guitar. Evidently it was due to my not knowing about how to take care of my guitar. They were very professional and kind in making sure that explained exactly what was wrong and what I need to do in the future to prevent it from happening again. The even through in a freebie that will help. Highly recommend going to see them.
Have tried hundreds of wonderful guitars over the years, had several of my classics repaired, bought a few new ones. Terry is always helpful, knowledgeable. Great store.
I LOVE these guys. Very knowledgeable. Easy going and soft sell. Excellent repair. Beyond fair and reasonable.
Great local place with friendly staff!
Curbside service order ahead or at the door
Pleasant place and ppl. Decent prices. They know their stuff!
Two stars because of the employees that just give you a glazed over zombie look, no greeting, when you walk into the store. Not cool. A simple “hey, how ya doing?” is always nice to acknowledge ones existence. It’s a small shop otherwise with vintage stuff mixed in with new reissue stuff, so it can probably be a little confusing to the average guitar buyer. However, I’d still rather come to this place than to Sam Ash. The staff, including the owner, just needs to work on some basic customer service skills.
Brought in two guitars over the summer. An old Ibanez musician and a newer Eastman semi-hollow body. They thought it would be done in about a week and turns out they were busy and that is fine. Several weeks later i was contacted about the Ibanez and I appreciated the recommendations and ultimately did not have any work done on it. The other guitar was supposed to get a new pick-up selector switch, re-strung and set-up (I had already taken the strings off). I picked the guitars up (paid) and did not think to open the cases to look at them. I got home and they had literally not touched the Eastman. No strings, no new selector switch , nothing. I couldn’t believe it. Still can’t…
I had the worst experience, I left my guitar for strings replacement and calibration. The gave my guitar back with the truss rod !loose! And the neck with a giant bow. I ended up calibrating the guitar myself.
