Wonderful store, friendly and helpful owner, great product, and unique instruments.
This is the most professional guitar store that has ever been in Prescott. I’m talking about Prescott Music store on Goodwin St in the 1970s and every music store since.
My Telecaster’s frets were buzzing like crazy, the neck was bowed and the intonation was screwed up as well. 30 minutes in Rick’s hands and it plays perfectly.
As a guitarist who has played since Jimi Hendrix’s “Are You Experienced” was released, I recommend Rick more highly than any guitar technician I have ever known.
UPDATE: Rick turned my unplayable Danelectro into the best I’ve ever heard a Danelectro sound.
And my Gitane Gypsy guitar was buzzing just enough on the 3rd fret of the high E string to bug the heck out of me. But now it plays beautifully again.
Purchased a yukale there. Great store good service. Do you have a guitar that needs repair?
The owner is a pretty cool guy. Very knowledgeable on everything in the store. He has also made guitars for some of the biggest names in music history.
Listed as open on Monday. Drove from Spring Valley to find them closed. Need to correct this.
The owner of this establishment is beyond rude, he didn’t answer any questions (which I believe is because he has 0 knowledge of anything pertaining to his little business) and he over prices everything. I understand it’s a local business so prices will be higher but his USED banged up instruments are at least 70% higher than anywhere else for the same NEW instruments which is unreasonable.
I’ll be shopping at a honest local music shop.
Thank You
3. Gray Dog Music
Address: 231 N Cortez St, Prescott, AZ 86301 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
Sevice was great. Fast ,good price. Very friendly. Thank you for your help.
Awesome shop, and friendly people!
A++++ Customer Service! Goes above and beyond!
Great atmosphere and good service. The special of a day which was a beef salad was rather mediocre and tasteless.
Its a nice store really small some prices are expensive but overall good store nice customer service
Owner operator was extremely helpful to blind customer I was chauffeuring
It’s a nice store. But they only sell guitars and related supplies. The pedal selection was weak if I was looking for pedals I would go online. Pretty much zero music scene in Prescott anymore. They cater to trendoids in my opinion. The selection was a huge bummer for me nothing but acoustic guitars.
Gray Dog music is only good for when you need something in an emergency, otherwise there’s no point is paying those prices. Prices that you only realize are so high when you get all the way to the register since almost nothing in the store has a clearly marked price on it. You have to individually inquire for every item… Even there used equipment was priced similarly to buying it brand new elsewhere. To top it off the gentleman working the counter actually got short with me because I kept having to ask what all there stuff cost. Horrible experience would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Parking: The parking is the ONLY good thing about Grey Dog Music.
4. John’s Corner Music Shop
Address: 8680 AZ-69, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
John and Chris are great! Good prices on gear and lessons.
Great service, great owners! Cheapest guitar setups in towns. Not like other places around here that change $80 or more, just to make a few quick adjustments, and call it a day.
Came in looking for a baritone ukulele, and ended up making some good friends. The prices are great and the service is amazing. As a young (16) aspiring performer visiting from California, I came in with my grandma and was looking for a ukulele with good quality… and found more than I was looking for. John is so sweet and I got to jam out with him for a little bit. I have never received such amazing customer service from a music store like this before. I would definitely recommend this store to friends and family.
Low quality gear that is way over priced.
wouldn’t give it even one star! I just went in to grab some guitar strings and was never once acknowledged the whole time I was there. Not even a greeting. needless to say I walked out. Not sure what the deal is in this town but I have yet to encounter any sort of professionalism with the businesses here!!!
5. Soundroom
Address: 3050 N Windsong Dr Suite#103, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
Go in all the time always great service and amazing employees
These guys are awesome! Great selection of my favorite brands, and they always have something new and interesting!
Wonderful owner who is super helpful and nice!
It’s okay place kind of small
It’s okay , inside the Mall , didn’t have what I was looking for .
Great store… decent prices. Went in for a used classical guitar and came out with a nice one. Came with case even. Added an American -made humidifier, works well. Smaller place, but has the important things. Recommend highly
Burned by this store over a Reverb purchase. I paid $450 total for a mini french horn they advertised as in “excellent” condition. When I recieved the horn I started noticing that the 3rd valve doesn’t close and open all the way disrupting airflow when pressing and depressing. Even after oiling the valve, there was no change. This horn is non-functional to a player. 1st the store decieded to deny any return or exchange to address the issue immediately. Then I tried to contact Reverb customer care and tried demonstrating this in a video to them. Both the seller and Reverb responded with a guilty until proven innocent skepticism that left me stuck with an unplayable horn. It took a lot of hassle and time away from normal living dealing with both of them. I would advise anyone not to buy a brass or woodwind instrument from this store unless you can inspect it first. Either they don’t play the instrument themselve, or they knowingly sold an unplayable instrument not caring.
I have played horn (F horn) semi-professionally for over 22 years in wind bands, orchestras, and jazz ensembles. I also have extensive knowlege of major brands and makers and designs of horns and am qualified to advise other players.
So, I went here for the first time and the girl behind the counter was NO help. She was too busy to get up and show me where the item I was looking for was. I will not be going back.

6. Arizona Music Pro
Address: 122 E Rte 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
Neil was great, he not only went above and beyond to make my guitar case work for me but he is also very professional and a pleasure to work with. Neil is definitely a credit to AZ Music Pro, the staff there is always ready to help with all of your music needs. Thank you, you guys are the best 🙂
Jack is a super cool guy. Helped me out and was a super friendly place.
Neil fixed the nut on my telecaster. Had a problem with the action and now it plays perfectly. Really good guy had a nice talk with him too. Shreds on bandcamp as well; “Night Sky” goes hard! Thanks again Neil!
This shop has a wide variety of instruments, and some beautiful violins that I was able to try out. The staff is very friendly and helpful there, and the shop is organized, clean, and spacious. Now to save up for that violin!
なかなかの品揃えだがわざわざここで買い物することもない。
I’ve been in this store many times. Sometimes I found what I was looking for and some not. But I have never been treated with anything but concern for what I needed. “Just a suggestion to all folks that don’t like the way people look at them. Take a look in the mirror at what they see.”
I had drove an hour there to get a Single guitar string for my new guitar, I had also had problems with the amp I bought from them not working with my mic to amp transducer I also bought from them. So I bought a new transducer with no regards from them on the fact that the other didn’t work as if I was the one putting them out. I ended up spending 50$ on cords etc. and when I had said I didnt know how to put on the string and asked for help I was told to go on YouTube and that I should just go home and figure it out from an extremely unhelpful short tempered demeanored guy named “Jack”. I’m disappointed I decided to try and make this place my go to for equipment.
Just bought a ukelele from here with apparent buzzing after you play for a while. When going to see if it could be fixed or trade in, the manager looked at it and played it, and pretended he couldn’t hear the loud buzzing. While other customers in the store also said they could hear the obvious loud buzzing. And responded with “it sounds like a ukulele buddy” in a condescending tone. I’ve purchased multiple instruments from here with good service from the people, but I will no longer give a single penny to the store after this rude interaction of being sold a faulty instrument and then being talked to as if I was too unintelligent to understand the sound.
As a pro musician, this store did not have enough pro-quality stuff. Charges $12 for a set of strings that typically cost $7 anywhere else. The young red-headed dude behind the counter was condescending to me as I am female and he thought that even though I was asking for a specific set of strings that I might not know what I am asking for. Too bad…had high hopes for this place and was sorely disappointed.
7. Tommy Rocks
Address: 110 Main St, Jerome, AZ 86331 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
What a wonderful store and owner. We stopped by today to look at purchasing one of his many ukuleles. Tommy was so helpful to my wife in making a decision of which one was best for her needs. Great experience.
Tommy is the nicest guy!! We chatted all things music and ukes for about 45 minutes. He is so helpful and knowledgeable. I bought the kala ubass from him and got a great deal!!! You don’t want to miss this uke shop!!! A real treat and lots of good quality ukes at great prices.
Rare and Collectible Albums, Instruments and Memorabilia.
I would do this place a disservice by calling it a vintage record store. It is that too, but it’s so much more!
The owner operator is a guy named Tommy Anderson. Aside from being a musician and a defacto musicologist he’s also a great guy and very interesting to talk to.
If you’re into music, his shop is full of fun and fascinating items . Beyond the obligatory Grateful Dead stickers and things like that, he carries things like thousand-piece Pink Floyd puzzles and satirical takes on traditional album covers. He also carries a lot of high-end, really impressive autographed instruments and record albums. Even audiophiles will find equipment that will make their mouths water.
On the other hand if you just want to buy a ukulele or guitar to learn on, he can help you with that and give you great advice as well.
He’s also an accomplished musician and a music teacher.
His store is part museum, part music store, part curio store, and supports local musicians. It’s hard to beat!
If you’re in Jerome and like music history and music paraphernalia, or if you’re a serious collector, you really need to stop in and see this place. While you are there, say hi to Tommy for me. I really had a blast in his store!
Make sure to take a look at some of the photos I posted, to give you a better idea of what you might find in there.
An awesome rock and roll memorabilia shop in historic Jerome Arizona…kind of hard to find tho.
Dude man. Stick to some normal operating hours. I’ve passed through Jerome twice now and you haven’t been opened when you said you were supposed to be. It’s 10:30 am now says your supposed to be open on google. Sorry for the poor review but really wanna check out your store
8. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 4402 W Cactus Rd, Glendale, AZ 85304 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
Sam Ash is a great place to buy musical instruments and equipment. They have a wide selection of guitars, basses, drums, keyboards, and other instruments, as well as a large selection of pedals, amps, and other gear. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and they are always willing to answer any questions you have.
I recently went to Sam Ash to buy a new guitar. I was looking for a specific model of guitar that I had seen online, and I was able to find it at Sam Ash. The staff was very helpful in finding the guitar I was looking for, and they also gave me some great advice on other guitars that I might be interested in.
I was also impressed with the selection of pedals at Sam Ash. They had a wide variety of pedals from different brands, and I was able to find the perfect pedal for my needs. The staff was also very helpful in choosing the right pedal for me, and they even let me try out some of the pedals before I bought them.
Overall, I had a great experience shopping at Sam Ash. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, and they had a wide selection of instruments and gear. I would definitely recommend Sam Ash to anyone looking for musical instruments or equipment.
I was surprised of how different this store was from other music stores I have been to. The assistants asked me several times if they could help me with something. This store will now be my go to place for my guitar needs. Rob was very helpful and nice.
I’ve only been here 4 times and I feel at home. The manager, Crew and the people are always accommodating and knows how to apologize when they have you wait longer. The items are supreme and they give good deals. I also love their Wednesday open mic. i brought my kids to sing. Their discount cards they send on the mail is awesome. you don’t even need to purchase anything to redeem it. Thank you, Sam Ash. GOd bless
Great customer service
A great pace to shop music.
Fun place to shop for musical instruments and accessories of any kind from slide whistles to full Drum sets to DJ equipment and stage and rigging equipment . Very friendly and knowledgeable people as well.
Had a. Interview scheduled for yesterday and then again today with the PHX location, for 1pm. They no-call/no-showed. Is this normally how it goes?
As me and my friends were trying out some drums we were told by a white Lady to let some white guys try them out. Also when we went to look at the sticks the lady followed us and watched us the entire time. This was a very uncomfortable situation and I will never return here, we are Hispanics and I don’t feel that we should be treated this way. I usuall don’t get offended by these things but this lady was very disrespectful. I’m not sure what her name was but she was working in the drum department.
Very little selection… please buy more products to carry in your SUPER STORE
9. Music & Arts
Address: 891 E Baseline Rd Suite 101, Gilbert, AZ 85233 , Bagdad , Arizona , United States
Absolutely wonderful staff and music teachers for lessons. We had piano lessons there for several years. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A very friendly helpful staff and they didn’t try to sell me things I didn’t need.
Helpful employee who gave me a discount once he found out I am a music teacher.
This place is a great place. They are helping navigate being the mom of an orchestra student and it’s a task! They are so nice about helping me figure out what book I need to get him and what size chin rest he needs. They’re super nice.
Definitely not as friendly or helpful as the Power location.
It’s a good shop with kind staff and great teachers. But it’s missing some TLC. Cello bow options are limited and there’s this huge tent inside that is just in the way
Very low selection of guitars employee was rude
Stood in front of store for 1 hour on Thursday no one there to open. Needed repairs and supplies had to go else where. New management can’t be like this if you expect to keep customers. Music and arts also just opened another “experimental” store dedicated to string instruments. That’s fine, fix your current stores before setting up new ones.
This company failed to inform over the telephone that if you show up with the cash they will be ducting $50 cash out of your money as a deposit and after ending the lessons the store ” policy ” is designed to not give you your cash back and require access to your banking card and information to release your deposit. After over a week of the classes being finished the store contacted me to inform me that my $50 cash was at the store to be picked up as my refund for my deposit. After driving across town to go to the store I’m informed once I arrived that they can only put it back on my debit card which was never used to make the transaction in the first place. It’s already been over 24 hours my money has still not been relinquished to my account. I am an experienced musician and have had lessons in the past and by far this was the worst experience.
