Julian and Dave are always a pleasure to deal with. Knowledgeable, friendly people with a great spot for repairs, lessons and gear!
Awesome, best shop for new and experienced students ….David has a host of guitars for sales and an teachers for new students
Dave runs Monkton Guitars, and I was extremely impressed with the service I received. He has a ‘can do’ attitude, and is happy to give advice and the benefit of his long experience. It’s refreshing to deal with someone who is passionate about what they do!
My instrument arrived safely in the UK, and was exactly as described, so I couldn’t be happier. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for either a new or vintage instrument – and you can buy with confidence, even if you are not able to visit the store in-person.
Highly recommended!
great place to try and buy, they know their stuff and are super nice and willing to help you find what you’re looking for. they have great recommendations and will let you play whatever for however long. very cheap for repairs and guitar work, much cheaper than other places. got my frets leveled/crowned and it sounds fantastic, however they did kind of gauge/scratch the neck on several frets. sucks, but not a huge deal as it’s not a high end guitar and the price was right ($60). again, sounds great but i would be weary of bringing a higher end model in as they weren’t very careful about taping off the neck to avoid cosmetic damage.
Best shop around!
do not take your guitars here for repair! simple jobs will end up being 2 hours in labor charges. they will take your working guitar and send you home with a non-working guitar. they will mix up the wiring on the pots. they will give you pots too large so your knobs have a huge gap underneath. unbelievably unprofessional and incapable.
EDIT: The business response is not a fair respresentation. First guitar, volume pots wired backwards. Second guitar, repair only lasted the car ride home. Second fix only lasted the next car ride home. Third fix, incorrect tone mapping and too large of pots. Every single trip a problem. Why would I go back?
2. Guitar Hut
Address: 1385 Forest Park Cir #106, Lafayette, CO 80026 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Evan was very helpful, laid back environment with personalized help that’s not pushy. Great staff too. Yes the selection is less than big box stores but it’s worth it to come here for the service.
Nice place. Let us play guitars for an hour and seemed pleased when we just bought strings and left. Will go back for sure. Super repair area and looked like a separate area for lessons
My guitar was bent out of shape and was difficult to play until I picked it up today…now it plays like a charm and I couldn’t be happier! Evan did a fantastic job setting up my Les Paul; feels good to play a properly tuned guitar. And thanks, Tom, for the lesson info! I’ll be seeing you guys soon!
I had these guys take a look at a signature bass of mine. It had some electrical problems going on with it that were a bit out of their knowledge base but Evan is great guy. Very honest and very hard working. I will return with any other problems I have in the future and I would recommend them. Their pricing is very fair and they are willing to help out customers any way they can.
I called to sign my boys up for guitar lessons and had a few options worked out and was told I would be called back to confirm which times worked. I never heard back. Then, when I called back to confirm options, I was told they didn’t have any of my information logged and there were no longer any time slots available for lessons.
Everyone I have met there seems very nice, but very poorly organized.
3. Flesher Hinton Music
Address: 5890 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80212 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
I have had excellent service for some years. I got a free sticker for a new instrument case. They have also repaired my clarinet plenty of times. These repairs have lasted for years.
The best place to get what you need. Service dept is tops and they are honest and fair with pricing and get the instrument back to you quickly. Even after several visits the quality and treatment is excellent. This is only shop that I will go to.
Excellent staff! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful when I went in looking for a clarinet! Reasonable prices! Thanks for the help!
The people employees are professional, knowledgeable, and ready to help!
As with any store like this, you can expect them to be salesmen, though they don’t push too hard and don’t avoid helping you find the lowest priced items.
The technicians are great, but I wish they had a bit more enthusiasm.
If you are testing out brass instruments or such, the practice room they put me in had too much reverb to get accurate samples, even with a recording device. I have yet to ask if they had a more acoustically dry room.
They can order sheet music and products, and have all the basics and many accessories for band musicians.
There’s parking at the new location. Really reasonably priced supplies. Not the best selection for buying instruments though. Since their relocation, seems they’re putting more emphasis on instrument repair. Still probably the best music supply shop in the area
Like always the services people were just great.
Just terrible experience! Purchased a new wood clarinet 5 months ago. Found out it was cracking, unfortunately happens if not taken care of, but not in the first 5 months.
Took 2+ months to fix, when we finally picked it up, some old guy in the store started telling my 16 year old daughter about keeping it greased every six months- lecturing her because it was so dried out! Finally stepped in and told him…we bought it here less than 5 months ago…in other words, you sold an old dried out clarinet for $2000.00. Will never ever step foot in this store again d/t the service dept.
Went in to check out acoustic guitars earlier today. Got an important call as I was about to tune a guitar I was checking out and the guy behind the counter just starts blowing into some sort of wind instrument seemingly deliberately because taking a quick phone call. So I hung up the guitar and just walked out.
But the guy who welcomed me when I walked in seemed nice.

Good people and client services! Recommend highly!
Super friendly, helpful staff.
Was able to buy a great violin
I am a music teacher. This is my go to for lesson books for my students.
Organized and clean nice staff they don’t buy instruments
If I could give zero stars I would. The guy is a complete as*hole! He’s rude, and gave horrible service and charges you surprise fee’s! Don’t rent from him!!
The person that restrung my guitar did the whole thing wrong and he was saying he knew how to do it and we spent $30 on this and it wasn’t even done correctly he said he knew how to work on guitars but he didn’t even know which way to turn the tuning knobs
Terrible company. Rude and very misleading. OVER CHARGED AND REFUSED TO GIVE A REFUND
5. Wildwood Guitars
Address: 500 S Arthur Ave STE 700, Louisville, CO 80027 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
I’ve bought a fair bit of stuff from Wildwood over the years. They have an amazing selection, and I love their website. Their prices are always the best I’ve found, and they get guitars that no one else has. I love that their stuff is never thrashed or shopworn. It’s always in perfect condition. And while it’s not one of those shops where you can just browse, it’s really cool to be able to choose five different guitars of the same model and really compare them. They set you up in a room and just let you really get to know the instruments. It’s a pretty unique shop. I just wish they had more basses.
I go to guitar shops everywhere I visit, and I consider myself pretty lucky to have Wildwood as close as it is to me, because it’s a pretty great shop.
Outfuckingstanding!
Customer service is very good, staff is extremely knowledgeable. Will definitely be shopping again!
Kewl shop
They don’t do setups on your guitar yet they have a warehouse full of guitars? Great selection and very knowledgeable.
I really love wildwood. Review would have been 5 stars but the covid restrictions won’t allow for entry Into the showroom so you you have to buy blindly. If there are issues the staff takes care of them promptly however.
Wish my experience had gone something like these reviews. They should too as it could easily have resulted in a sale but, no, not the case.
I walked in and told the person that unenthusiastically greeted me I was looking at a Collings O2H in the $3000 range and wanted to see if they had something comparable. He said “We have over 2,000 guitars.” Uh, okay. I answered but anything similar like a 00 Martin for example? He led me to a computer screen and invited me to peruse their “over 2,000 guitar” inventory, find what I wanted and he’d bring it out then walked away. Zero guidance. Didn’t make it through the first page of Martins before walking out.
Before the day was over I returned to the store carrying the Collings, wrote a check for just under $3,000 and drove home.
I understand Wildwood changed owners so perhaps this is their new business model and, hey, it may work out for them but if I’m dropping three grand or more on a guitar I expect service which I found plenty of at the three other stores I visited.
Slow
Lack of information
And asking of personal information
Apparently they only want to do online business. Don’t bother going to the showroom. They won’t let you in….because why would you want to play the $3k instrument before you buy it?
I’m sure it’s a COVid thing, but even with COVid, every other shop in the US is still willing to do business.
I usually buy a new guitar around my bday every year and literally had $3k cash on me. I was going to look at a used SG Custom from craigslist, but was totally willing to spend that money at Wildwood if something impressed me.
I guess I will go somewhere else. Not my choice, but if they don’t want my money, then that’s hard to argue with.
I’m happy their online sales are good enough to close their showroom. Good for them…bad for customers:(
Still a great guitar shop, but how can you leave more than one star if they are literally turning away business?
6. Flipside Music
Address: 2231 S Platte River Dr, Denver, CO 80223 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Do not let the small size of this store mislead you. Incredible selection of instruments, pedals, and strings. It was like the spice girls tour van in spice world going in. You will never go to guitar center again after going here. Support businesses that deserve to be supported. Couldn’t be happier with my new guitar.
Great vibe in store. Staff is enthusiastic and friendly. Obviously very knowledge folks who don’t talk condescendingly to newbies looking for their first guitar. Really enjoyed my experience there and will highly recommend them to friends.
Cool store, not the friendliest staff. Nice pedal selection.
This store is one of Denver’s hidden gems! I walked in looking for a bass pre-amp… These guys blew me away with their knowledge and friendlyness. They definitely know their stuff. I’d recommend flip side to any bassist or guitarist for any needs except repairs( I don’t know if they do repairs, I didn’t ask, as I already have a guy for that…).
Very knowledgeable staff and unique instruments
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
7. Jensen Guitars
Address: 360 Main St, Longmont, CO 80501 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
I ordered a lefty G&L Tribute Legacy Blue from California and I couldn’t be happier. It arrived in the time expected and in better quality that I’ve ever received other guitars from a major retailer. Thank you guys for offering lefties options and for the amazing customer service I received when inquiring about the guitar’s specs.
Great service. Knowledgeable staff. Lots of products to check out.
They have more than just guitars they also sell wind instruments and string instruments
Bought the tool I need next in my grand plan. 5 string Bass. It’s a pretty beauty.
Good people knowledgeable, highly recommend
I walked into this store today for the first time, didn’t even realize it was there before (I haven’t lived in longmont for almost 10 years but I visit family there frequently) so I thought I’d check it out. I came through the door to what seemed like the owner of the shop having a conversation with one of his employees. They initially acknowledge me and quickly said hello before going back to a heated conversation about what seemed to be the employees incompetence. This is a very small store, so I was inevitably able to hear the entire conversation whether it was of interest to me or not. I picked up a few guitars, played one or two, and I made a full circle around the store checking out the inventory before I walked out unnoticed after 10 minutes or so. Not once was I spoken to, but I was able to gain some insight about the employee and his peremptory store owner. It appears there had been a customer service issue and the employee was unable to accomplish something for a customer due to his lack of knowledge and confidence with the point of sale system. The manager then proceeded to train his employee as he made several comments about the store computer being nothing like his at home and that he didn’t understand the system. As a retail manager myself, I have an above average understanding (at the very least) of what good customer service in a properly managed business should look like. I’m writing this review less in distaste at the fact that I was not engaged by either of you in your store, but because I am a supporter of local businesses and I enjoy seeing them thrive in my hometown. Employees should be coached away from the vicinity of customers, and EVERY customer should be greeted and engaged if you expect your business to succeed. I didn’t need to hear your conversation, but I did, and my advice for you would be to let that particular employee go – he is old and unable to adapt to the point of sale system you have in place, and he doesn’t seem to have a basic instinct for customer service.
Great place if you are looking for a cheap jangly Chinese made guitar. Spend a few minutes with the owner so he can brag about his skills and insult your intelligence!
Sad to see such poor customer service.
8. Affordable Music
Address: 104 Village Pl, Dillon, CO 80435 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Great selection of all records, CDs and all music related. Great customer service.
Gary’s > Spotify
Best store in town. Gary and Company has everything you could possibly want music-wise from mainstream to obscure, vintage to modern. Super knowledgeable. I absolutely love them. Plus, they have a super cool shop dog.
I went in looking for something super rare (not valuable to most people, priceless to me) and after dude man dug around in the back, he found it in mint condition for $3 bucks.
Great place super helpful
Limited selection, average prices
Surprisingly good 45 selection.
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
Terrible customer service. Was out of town for a wedding – asked about return policy and he went on a rant about him being a small business and how he would only give store credit. He was very condescending and unprofessional
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
9. The big Instrument
Address: 2400 Naegele Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80904 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
when restoring, designing,or even an upgrade to guitars or lapsteels….the big instrument is the best….i had my non-pedal steel re-designed,with new electronics….a beautiful blue heavenly finish….p90 pick-up….volume and tone added…new designed legs making it more stable… it came out great….i also had my telecaster upgraded….frets smoothed….it plays so much better….here you will enjoy a friendly atmosphere….with knowledge to spare….thank you to the big instrument…
Great work, knowledgeable, easy to work with, with a quick turnaround. I’ve worked with a lot of guitar repair people in my life and would highly recommend getting work done here.
I recently bought a guitar at a pawn shop and wanted to up grade it. About my experience: 5 stars all the way. Here is why. Initially I contacted this place through email explaining what I would like done with my guitar. I get an email back the next day with all kinds of info about the guitar I bought that I didn’t even know. So I make an appointment. I get there. Angelo was very informative, and super laid back. He even updated me with video footage on the progress of the repairs he was doing. I can’t say enough good things honestly. Really cool dude. The work is a fair price, and the place is conveniently located near me. You will not be disappointed with service.
10. Guitars Etc
Address: 750 9th Ave, Longmont, CO 80501 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Todd has been FANTASTIC to deal with since the first time we talked. Excellent quality guitars, amazing service and answered all of my crazy guitar guy questions without hesitation. I will be using Guitars Etc. for many years to come!
These guys are Great! I needed a digital piano for my wife for valentines and they quickly led me to the best options. Todd is friendly and helpful as can be. Will definitely continue to support this local business!
Quite the busy shop, has quite a bit, and they’re knowledgeable.
Good selection of brand name items
Bought several hundreds of dollars of musical instruments from this local establishment over the years. Then one day the owner very rudely popped off at my child for playing a banjo I indented to purchase from him. Purchased it somewhere else. I’ll go back, but may not be so inclined to spend my money there.
I paid 9 dollars more for the same set of acoustic strings than the music place right down the street. The actual store is huge but the selection is pretty small. The pictures are deceiving. Probably wouldn’t recommend because of the clear price gouge. I won’t be shopping here again.
I had gone into this store with full intention to buy a guitar because I will admit, the selections are good. However when I had found an Epiphone guitar for a family member that felt good one of the workers had come up to me for him to start passive aggressively telling me that I was playing the guitar too hard making it un sellable. I feel like if he had the knowledge about guitars would know that you do have to strum an electric guitar with a pick in order for it to make sound. Crazy how you have to do that for a guitar to do something. All of the workers make the good selection not matter anymore. Don’t go there they have no intention to do something about any bad reviews proven by how they don’t respond to any of those. They don’t care at all about the people. They just want money.
Bad customer service.. Stay away. Owner has a bad attitude and did not appreciate my business during pandamic. Its ok I took my business to Jensen guitars down the street where the customer service was top notch. The Owner was rude towards my child for knocking over a sign that was not damaged and said some not so nice things. If you do go to the place do yourself a favor and leave your children at home. This place is not child friendly. Never will return to this place and would never recommend it to anyone. You sir lost a customer.!
11. Drum City-Guitar Land
Address: 9225 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Very helpful and knowledgeable! Thanks for the help.
Tim is extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this store for any drum or guitar needs. It is any guitarist or drummers paradise. If they don’t have it, they can get it in a timely manner. I was able to order some custom ludwig drums to complete my classic maple set through Tim with no issues which I picked up earlier today. Now… back to jamming!
Very friendly staff and a great selection! I didn’t end up making a purchase this trip but my dad bought a guitar and they went above and beyond to make this an enjoyable experience. I’ll be back to get me a guitar next time.
I’ve been going there for over 35-40 years always good
This place is pretty pricey. They say their drum heads are half off but the original price is double of what you would pay everywhere else around town, so you break even.
Cool selection.
Inquired over the phone (45 min drive) on needing 2x Iron Cobra Wooden Beaters. “Got them for you” was his response. Fight traffic to get there, buy product and trustingly got back in car. Upon inspection in parking lot, one is labeled CB90W (correct), the other CB90F (wrong). Stems are different and neither comes with weights. Looking closer the wood is shaped differently, different sizes and completely different types of wood. Just paid for two “new” Wooden Beaters that weigh differently and have different bounce properties. This place will lie just to make a dollar. Never going back.
I came in a few times for a cocktail drum purchase and didn’t find prices that fit my budget (which is fine, it was nice equipment and they’re a used store!). I came back to try and trade things in for accessories instead (bass pedal/Hi-Hat stand) but the trade in value was changed when I got there if I didn’t buy multiple items. Again fair enough, it’s a used shop and they need to make money.
I came yesterday to grab a floor Tom ring and Tim was pretty short with me a bit immature saying “Hey, we finally sold you something!” tried to upsell me on a bass drum head for my new kick and when I was said goodbye, he ignored me while walking away.
I truly do not like to write these messages or send negativity to a used music shop as I had been apart of one for a very long time but if you can’t find me what I’m looking for at a price that is in my range: do not make it my problem and make me feel unwanted. I sent an email addressed to Tim specifically to remedy the situation and I haven’t heard anything back. So I’m writing it here to not treat others this way.
Everyone needs to make money but jeez, don’t run your customers out when they finally find something that works for them with you.
I’m a beginner so I went in looking for the ibanez bass guitar starter pack. Everything went smoothly (other than when I asked them for any begginers advice they have and was ignored twice) and I was happy until I got home and pulled it out of the box to start playing. That’s when I realized the bass to amp cable was missing. So I called them and they got me a new after I had to drive back to the store. Got home again, hooked up the bass to the amp, then realized I needed to tune it. The electronic tuner it was supposed to come with was missing. I decided I need to take a full inventory. I didn’t think this was necessary because of this stores great reputation. It was also missing the shoulder strap. I had to drive back one more to return the item. Upon returning, they blamed the manufacturer and never offered anything to make up for the lost time, gas money, and frustration I experienced. I decided not to leave this review as I continued my search for my first bass set up. I found a nice bass but now i needed an amp. So after a week, I called them to give them another chance (on black friday) and asked them if there was any deal they can give me since they already gave me the run around once and if I drive all the way to 44th I want it to be worth it. The response was that his cheapest amps start at $100. I am now deciding to leave this review in hopes of 1. Improving their customer service 2. Making a begginers buyer beware as i felt like I was treated poorly compared to the other customers who weren’t begginers. Their reviews say friendly but I felt no friendliness during my whole experience 3. If u purchase from here, check that they don’t rip u off by making a full inventory before leaving the premises.
12. Olde Town Pickin’ Parlor
Address: 7515 Grandview Ave, Arvada, CO 80002 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Professional musicians serving customers professionally………..instruments for all tastes and players.
Great shop, great guys, great guitars. If you’re looking for quality acoustics, this is the place. They do great setup and repair work on all guitars as well. Have had electrics and basses setup here and they play like a dream now
I don’t know anyplace else with so many fantastic high end stringed instruments together under one roof.
The staff is knowledgeable and personable and unobtrusive, letting pickers sample the wares uninterrupted.
They were unwilling to negotiate the price (at all) towards a trade in, which was a bummer. Don’t expect any deals here because you won’t get one. I would come back here if there was a guitar I really wanted, but otherwise there are similar guitars in same or better condition on craigslist for less, and without sales tax. He wanted 2600+ for a Martin HD28v with a crack in it.
Great little shop offering guitars, mandolins, banjos and a huge variety of stringed instruments both for sale and/or repair. A fun shop to visit, and if you play to try out the various instruments.
They refuse to answer inquiries
Give this place a pass if you’re looking for violin or fiddle things. Not much selection and the main dude at the counter seemed very offput when I asked about them. The other guy working was really nice though.
Disappointing that employees won’t wear a mask, despite the sign on their front door saying it’s required. Decent selection but generally lacking in customer service.
13. Spaceman Guitars
Address: 9797 W Colfax Ave Ste 1B, Lakewood, CO 80215 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Fantastic family running a big shop in a tight space. Great prices, services galore, and locally owned. SHOP LOCAL! HIT UP SPACEMAN! -TM
Great guitar shop. Chris is very fair, knowledgeable and genuine. Zero snobbery. He always has a piece or 2 that I must have (and don’t need, but that’s my problem) and tons of records in all categories. He does awesome tech work and takes good care of your instrument-kids while they are away.
I bought my Gibson J-45 from a good friend in 1978, and while I learned to play it, and loved the sound, the action was always hard on my fingers, to the point where a couple months ago I started playing another guitar even though it didn’t sound as good. Finally, I brought it in to Spaceman Guitars and not only cleaned up the “old girl” as they called it…but set the action to where it is such a pleasure to now play my old guitar. Thank you Spaceman Guitars! Great job!
Did a good switch repair for me. Took longer than he said he would minus 1 star. His records are spendy but he does good trades for credit. I will be back for sure.
Nice place. Had what I needed.
Not the best guitar store ever
I dropped this off late October to change a nut on my Fender. I included the parts. I’ve been reaching out, over and over; Communications far and few between. Btw, I was told it would be ‘a couple weeks.’ I’ve shared an excerpt do of our texts to illustrate my point.
My guitar sat for 2 weeks without repair (wiring, nothing nuts), no call, no eta… Finally went and picked it up… Nothing done. Complete waste of time.
Chris is a nice enough guy but I don’t feel like I got what I paid for. I had a suspicion my frets weren’t level due to buzzing so I brought it to him and he did a set up on it. Just a basic setup was quite expensive. I brought it home and it still had buzz. When I took it back to him he said it needed new strings. I was amazed he didn’t notice that during the set up. It just seems he didn’t really take his time with me as a customer and so I will not be going back here. I brought my guitar to a different shop and the tech confirmed my suspicions that there were frets that weren’t level and the neck wasn’t completely straight. Just all around disappointed with the work that was done on my guitar especially at the price I paid.
14. The Denver Folklore Center
Address: 1893 S Pearl St, Denver, CO 80210 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Fun team, great knowledge and service, I strongly recommend
Has a lot of different Taylor guitars. In stock.
Hands down selection you will not find anywhere else
Exciting to have a local non chain (read “Guitar Center”) acoustic musical instrument store in the hood. Experts in not only guitars, but dulcimers and mandolins too! Experienced in their craft, and repairs.
We went in to try to find a mandolin. The store is smallish but selection is good. Very “buy something now or leave” vibe. We were able to get some questions answered by their seemingly knowledgeable staff, but the way we were treated made it difficult to find an instrument that might be a good fit.
This is a Great place for musical needs, instruments(Guitars,Ukeleles, Banjos) as well as Harmonicas are just some of the instruments that you will find. They offer services such as instrument repair, and lessons as well! Variety of books included.
This Music Store has been opened since 1962! Definitely one of Denver’s Gems! Lots of history about this place! Swallow Hill was located right across the street! (Back In The Day! The 60’s, 70’s and I believe the 80’s as well!)
With restaurants and breweries surrounding it’s location it makes for a wonderful attraction to visit!
Check it out!
ZERO STARS if it was allowed
I called in advance before I drove down from Loveland to make sure it was ok to try some guitars. I had a specific Martin in mind that was in their inventory and had money in hand ready to buy. Ian was very helpful and set me up to play the guitar for about 30 minutes.
When I asked to look at another guitar, Ian obliged, but a surly older man emerged from the back room to scold me and tell me If I wasn’t prepared to spend “real” money on a guitar he’d rather not let me touch any. I understand covid considerations, which is why I called in advance before driving 60 MILES to make sure I could play. Mind you, there was not another customer in that building for the short time I spent.
Poor Ian looked stunned, and I politely left, completely embarrassed.
You’ve heard of snobbery in music stores?? Well his was worse than any Guitar Center will ever dish out. I will never do business or recommend this place to any one because of one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever had.
I have successfully purchased that same guitar as of last week.
Terrible service and advice.
I was playing instruments hoping to buy a banjo from them, I don’t know anything about banjos, and I was nervous so I was playing some guitars and nobody really ask me anything, and a guy the came up to me and told me they don’t like people playing their instruments, so I left and bought a brand new banjo online deering model its cool came in perfect condition ready to play. I’ve experienced this at other places but that’s a funny way to sell instruments.
Also I was the only person in the store and was playing lightly, and I was considering buying one of the guitars, but definitely not from them.
15. Graner School of Music
Address: 4460 Barnes Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80917 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Went in for a repair (stuck mouthpiece in a tuba) and they could not have been better. The gentleman that helped me was super friendly and fast and knowledgable. Would definitely recommend their instrument repair.
Wonderful people with the BEST customer service. Stay away from Meeker Music and send all your business here!
Great service, very helpful!
Very helpful. Explained all contracts well, good with kids, instructors onsite. Staff helpful.
Great place for kids to get musical lessons, voice lessons and books and instruments. They also do repairs here
Went to exchange guitar string, and wow what an attitude. Now I will remove my grandkids from their guitar lessons school. And take them some where else. Yoga can thank your sales guy at the guitat counter fir these.
Pretty disappointed in all honesty. I was recommended this place by other music stores around town that couldn’t provide what I needed.
The selection of the instruments and accessories seemed to be impressive!
What was most disappointing was the customer service. There was a very nice woman upfront, sadly losing her voice, but was sweet the whole time!
Mike, was not.
To avoid a novel, wording is key! There’s no need to constantly criticize someone’s instrument, constantly tell them to return it because it won’t work, and then try to just sell their inventory.
He seemed knowledgeable when he spoke of the instrument, but to only push for a sale, sad.
After leaving something there and returning to get it, the additional comment of “did you take it back?” Was not needed.
A fellow musician should encourage, not discourage and try to push a sale. As a salesman, if your customer wants a peg, just sell them a peg.
Did not repair what they said they were going to repair. I trusted them and only realized when my kid went to play it. If they make it right I will update my review. This is absolutely horrible. I can’t believe they would do this to a local school teacher.
16. Hackl Guitars Repair Shop
Address: 3139 Milwaukee St, Denver, CO 80205 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Justin has worked on something like 6 of my guitars, he does top quality work at a very fair price. I’ve dealt with him for years, and he’s been fair, transparent, honest, and accountable in all of our interactions. I’ve never gotten an instrument back from him in a condition that I was unhappy with. It’s a mistake to take your guitar anywhere else.
Justin was awesome. Fair price, excellent service. Cool little shop!
1st visit in a couple years. Had what turned out to be a simple repair. Justin took care of it on the spot and was more than fair with price. Another excellent experience from a pro!
Took in my vintage Les Paul to get tuned up and have the output jack resoldered. Justin finished ahead of quoted time and my guitar sounds amazing. Staying in tune, polished up and the action is phoenominal. Highly recommend.
Awesome service. Very helpful.
17. HB Woodsongs
Address: 3101 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
This local music store is a great place to buy local in Boulder they have many many options to choose from . And the folks who are there are also pretty friendly as well as the manager or owner whoever it was who helped me find what I needed and test it out . Woodsongs is highly recommended when your in the Boulder area thanks again .
Wonderful service and people!
Just one thing: If you’re buying an acoustic guitar, they only accept returns if you also purchased a humidifier.
My favorite music shop, I highly recommend HB Woodsongs — going there feels more like stopping by to visit some friends than it does going into a store. They are always friendly and sales are extremely low-pressure. They’ll answer your questions if you have any, or just let you browse the floor as much as you want, checking out what they have to offer and trying out instruments to find one that works for your tastes, level and playing style. I’ve bought my first ‘ukulele from them in 2013 and have since purchased 2 guitars as well as numerous accessories and supplies. Rentals are also very straight-forward and they’ll let you know exactly what to expect as far as cost and returns when the time comes.
In my mind, when buying a musical instrument there’s no substitute for being able to pick up the instrument and test it out yourself. Even within the same exact model there is variation, wood after all is a natural material with each piece having its own unique qualities.
Being a relatively small shop, they don’t always have what I’m looking for. For example, they have a limited selection of microphones, amps and other pro-audio equipment, but even in those cases I’ve been able to get a few of those items through them or they’ve still been able to answer my questions and pointed me in the right direction when it wasn’t something they carried or could get on special order.
HB Woodsongs is not only a shop, but also a community of musicians — there are regular monthly workshops at the shop that have helped me learn and improve as a musician. One is focused specifically on the ‘ukulele while the other focuses on Bluegrass music of all acoustic instruments. They are great fun and very welcoming environment to explore new techniques such as soloing.
Small but nice musical instruments stores. They don’t have a lot of stuff (my only complaint), but you be able to find some accessories and also some high-end acoustic guitars. Salespersons are friendly and they also have a music school in this place.
Called long distance for a specific piece of sheet music. While they do not have it in the store, the sales rep named Derek was extremely helpful and courteous. Kudos to him.
Attentive staff. Good selection. Prices are average to high.
Very friendly staff, unfortunately way over-priced. You can find some of the exact same items on ebay or Amazon for less than half the price at this store.
18. Steve’s Guitars
Address: 19 N 4th St, Carbondale, CO 81623 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
Reached in regards to assistance in finding a band for a company holiday party, Ralph was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about music in the area
Great venue on the western slope!
Intimate, beautiful guitar display. Fun nice place to get to know musicians upclose. Byob.
Intimate venue blanketed in an eclectic collection of guitars. Great for solo or small acts to play in, especially warm acoustics.
It’s ok
This place chronically doesn’t pay their musicians who play there. 50% cut of door sales?? No response when folks try to collect their earnings?? Support local music – not this place.
19. GLENWOOD MUSIC
Address: 3102 Blake Ave D, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
The gentleman was very helpful in explaining how to restring my daughter’s violin.
The staff at Glenwood music are the best. I’ve purchased many guitars and accessories there and highly recommend shopping here for all your musical needs.
Really nice music store with more instrument variety than guitar center
Hay todo tipo de instrumentos a precios razonables
I may have never purchased anything from this store, but they have a kickass mural of a gorilla playing a Flying V on the side of the building and it rules. The gorilla is probably playing “Cemetery Gates” by Pantera at full blast.
Guess you’re not open until 6pm…
Very disrespectful people. I hate spending my money there but it’s the only local music store 🙁
Some nice people working at this store, but unfortunately the guitar tech with the beard is so rude, egotistical, mean, and basically the opposite of customer service, that I would not be able to make any major purchases from this store. I certainly would not let them lay hands on any of my instruments. Fine if you want some strings or picks, but if you ask for a serious recommendation, you will likely be insulted rather than given any useful help. Unfortunately for the owner, guitar techs at any level are hard to fine. If you don’t like your job bro, quit and get a new job, it’s nobody’s fault except your own. Music is a social hobby, so maybe it’s just not for you.
Customer service is absolutely awful. The rudest staff I have ever had to deal with. They are so pompous and rude I am sad I gave them my money. If you aren’t knowledgeable about music DONT GO HERE, the staff is terrible to customers who don’t know music. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere or just shopping online. Not one member of the staff is nice and helpful, worst musical experience ever!
20. Piano Pathways of Colorado, Inc.
Address: 10143 W Chatfield Ave Suite 3, Littleton, CO 80127 , Bennett , Colorado , United States
They were so helpful and had a great selection. They arranged delivery and even disposal of our old piano. Such a great experience! I can’t wait to go back and dig through all of their sheet music!
Great selection
This is a great place for lessons. They are very knowledgeable about, and helpful with, selecting the right piano.
Owner doesn’t get customer service
Bought a piano and had issues shortly after. They sent a tech to my house to assess the situation, but never got back to me. Ended up having to fix it by paying out of pocket.
