If you need piano lessons, contact him. His price is very reasonable and he’s just a great guy. I highly recommend him!
I took keyboard lessons with Brian from TR Music and he has helped me develop my skills and understanding of music composition. Brian is a skilled and knowledgeable instructor who always makes sure the lessons are tailored to my interests and goals.
I had 4 days to train for a jazz audition. I was desperate for a vocal coach and found her online. I met with her and trained with her for 1hr a day for 4 days straight. I needed help with my breath control, pitch and vibrato. She got my voice to a place where it is open, helped me to control my vibrato, hear when Im off pitch and how to get back on pitch. I’m now more confident than I had ever been with my singing. She really teaches and breaks down singing in a way that no one other teacher has ever done. She is also incredibly kind and fun to work with. Thank you so much

A great find with a nice selection of second hand records, great prices and such a cool location.
The man working there was very informative and helped us locate areas where we might find artists we would be interested in
Great record shop!
Great stacks of records
Very cosy place, super friendly staff. Prices ok
Sometimes they have give away albums
They need more Hip Hop and RnB but you can find a decent amount of music that you need. They do not sale vinyl cleaning brushes.
Came in here today, and decided to share my thoughts.. First off the guy behind did not say a single word the entire time we were in the shop. Not a hello or greeting or anything. I guess he didn’t really want business that bad if he couldn’t even say hello. Second, the record selection is disorganized and hard to find anything besides new releases. Third, they are a bit on the pricier side.. not too overpriced, but still overpriced. So yeah, definitely not the best record store like people in previous reviews have stated.
Rude guy behind the counter, bad selection and overpriced
Som is a decent record store. They have an ok selection but it is not by any means “DC’s best place for new/used vinyl.” There was a good selection of used lps. There is also a very small amount of CDs and cassettes. The cashier was a bit snarky with my friend who isn’t a frequent vinyl shopper. Go to Smash Records instead

Amazing experience, the owners opened the doors just for us.
Coming from Jersey Me an my Son walked a long walk from the Marriott Marquis to Decibel only to see the gate closed, tapped on the glass and they let us in. What a relief, The owners were very knowledgeable and the prices cant be beat. It is an upstart and filled with records and cassettes…
Hey – fellow record collector in the area 🙂 when do you guys officially open? Keep walking by and seeing progress…

Always a great experience when I go here. They are always friendly and knowledgeable.
Great record store very inviting and great collection. Staff very friendly and helpful. I particularly liked their vast and good jazz section and collection. We’ll worth the visit!
Found pure gold in this shop. A must to visit.
Good selection, over priced and full of hipster dinks
Very nice record store. Great vibes. Good music selection. Clerks were really cool.
Felt completely unwelcomed from the moment I walked in. Not a single greeting or acknowledgement from employees. I over heard a woman saying she was an owner and they just stared at me while they conversed about how “dangerous” Mexico is. One of the employees then followed me around without saying anything as if I was going to steal. I ended up leaving without purchasing anything because I didn’t want to support such terrible customer service and while their selection is mid most of their vinyl are over priced and hard to shuffle through. Find another record shop, this is not it.
Sadly common in record stores, the general tone of employees can be pretty pretentious. There are a lot of casual people browsing (maybe the location?) rather than more committed record collectors perhaps, but nobody should feel that. Especially when asking about specific rare or lesser known records etc and getting ‘I don’t know’ as an answer. ‘Digging’ is definitely not encouraged.
Absolutely horrible. Employees didnt even say “Hi” when you walked into the door. Atmosphere is majorly lacking. Everything was overpriced. There wasnt a spot to test records either, or if there was you wouldnt know because the employees said absolutely nothing.

We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing – so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!
Awesome customer service – they even restrung my guitar for me when I messed it up…
What a fabulous, knowledgeable and helpful staff! Tom thoroughly discussed with us all of our options buying a new guitar, and we can’t wait to return! I highly recommend this store!!!
Customer service is good. But prices can not at all compare to Washington Music Center. I was quoted almost $400 more for the exact same flute. Buyer beware.
Nice atmosphere, pleasant people
They have a huge in-store selection of sheet music, including loads and loads of music for late-beginner/early intermediate players from living or recently deceased composers for those looking for more variety. I could spend hours in here just browsing. However, I also somehow got a pair of headphones stolen while I was here, having set them down on a digital piano display while browsing a shelf. That’s mostly not the store’s fault but I’m not happy that I have to watch for theft even inside a store as opposed to being out and about in a crowd. There were apparently no cameras that could have caught what happened.
Last year I trusted them to set up my brand new PRS SE $700 guitar. Still had the plastic film on the back. I purposely didn’t take it to a Guitar Center because I wanted it taken care of. The cashier even noted what a beauty she was. It wasn’t until I brought it back home that I noticed they made a large scratch on the back. Beware. Obviously the person they use for simple guitar repairs is careless. Just extremely disappointing and now there is a forever mark on my favorite gear!
After calling to ask and then asking again upon arrival of their fees to string a guitar, they tripled the amount quoted. It was an awful, exploitative experience. I planned to rent an instrument and have my children take lessons there. We will not return.
In response to the reply below, the information on pricing was not explained before the service. Guitar Center has not charged me in the past and they state that they charge $1 per string if they are busy and wish to wait. I did not request you to honor their rates. I mentioned it to see if it was of your interest to honor as I was unable to get to their location. I was told it could not be honored and I would be charged $20 total for labor. You choose your rates according to your needs. Customers must be given accurate information in advance.
I brought in my son’s acoustic guitar to have a string replaced. The person doing the job broke the bridge and the store is not asuming any responsibility. Of course, they argue that the guitar must have been broken before I took it to the store, but the fact is that the guitar was in perfect condition when I took it out of the case and gave it to the employee. Wouldn’t he, or the other employee looking at the guitar, have said anything otherwise?
I’m in shock that a store that has been around for so long would do something like this and not asume responsibility for the damage they caused to the instrument. Oh, and to add insult to injury, the store manager suggests that I buy a new guitar from their store. Do they think we are all stupid?

The best museum i’ve ever been too , bring back a lot of memories gotta come check it out
Fantastic memorabilia!
Great display of memorabilia. Excellent friendly staff. Would love to see more.
I found out they were closed when I got there. The dispensary they share spwce with told me they’re changing the exhibit but they have a retail store I can purchase items from bot too far away.
I went there and the guy who was there didn’t seem to know much about anything there. He might’ve been high. ♂️
I found a few items I liked, paid for them and took a few pics of the art and other items on display.
Extremely disappointing, literally a four bedroom apartment with some (very few) cool hip-hop artifacts in displays and on the walls. They share space with a dispensary which seemed to have more going on than the museum. $92 for my family and I to go to a “museum”…more like someone’s personal hip-hop collection!
Horrible, I paid 75 dollars for three tickets for myself and my sisters. First of all it someone’s house. There is literally one room the size of a medium size bedroom with a beat box made out of aluminum. There was a Death Row electric chair you could take pictures in, but honestly what blk person wants to sit in an electric chair prop or not. There was a Biggie chair with a Burger King paper crown. They had a token exhibit to Eminem with a brick supposedly from his childhood home. Honestly I was under the impression there were going to be artists there that was the whole reason I paid 75 f-ing dollars. I got bamboozled by The Man who runs this shady establishment. The highlight of the night was when me and my sisters left after 15 minutes. You are better off going the the National Museum of African American History where they have a better exhibit and experience for the history of Hip Hop and it is Free.
I wish I could leave zero stars. Not a “museum” at all. Two rooms with hip hop items in wall frames, some on mannequins but VERY DISAPPOINTING. The “tour” is 2 minutes. Go up some stairs, turn left to go in one tiny room and turn right to go on another tiny room and you’re done. This should cost $2 instead of $20. Don’t waste your time.
16. Bmo Studio

Best studio I’ve ever been to. Really nice space to work on music everything is top of the line.
Great studio! Very professional atmosphere. I recommend this business
Hands down BEST STUDIO in the DMV
Scheduled an appointment over the phone. Arrived at location next day for appointment. No one answered phone or responded to text. Tried back a few days later. Still no response. Very unprofessional.

En best buy tú puedes encontrar todo artículo electrónico que tú necesitas para tú hogar oh para la cocina y atienden de lo mejor
Samsung new products are available in particular, Samsung Note 10+
Not the worst best buy, not the best. Busy location. Smaller store.
Nice nice
Great customer service. The location was clean, fully stocked and visually attractive.
expensive
The staff is rude.
He doesn’t know anything about product. He even told me the wrong price of product which is 3 times from the item I want.
He has no idea what I was asking about.
He just wanna get paid without asking me.
VERY BAD SERVICE.
Made an appointment through Apple to service my old iPhone SE, but when I showed up they said they don’t do iPhone SE. Pretty annoying to have to show up in person to be told they can’t do the thing you made the appointment for, especially in a pandemic. I tried to call ahead twice but they did not pick up the phone either time.
18. House of Musical Traditions
Address: 7010 Westmoreland Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912 , Bloomingdale , District of Columbia , United States
This place is incredible, I felt like a child in a candy store. They have a nice selection of violins (including electric, sweet) and mandolin family instruments definitely worth checking out. A wide variety of other instruments too! The staff were lovely, quite knowledgeable, and supportive. I’d have stayed all day if I wasn’t jumping up and down to get back into practice with the mandolin I purchased. One of the best music stores I’ve visited – I must return!
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A wonderful place to find your next instrument!
One of the guys was very nice and helpful. What I don’t like is that the store lacks of merchandise, and the prices are a bit high.
I initially had a negative experience here with one of the staff members. I thought it was unusual to have such a off-putting experience at a boutique music shop — having travelled to many boutique music shops across the country I almost always leave feeling like it was a great experience — great instruments, great atmosphere, and great friendly helpful staff. I figured maybe it was a bad day or something.
Since my initial experience here was surprisingly negative I contacted the owner, David. My comments and concerns were all well received — in fact we were both in perfect agreement about what went wrong and how the situation should have been handled.
Having said all of the above, the rest of my experience was perfect. Another staff member who I spoke to was helpful and answered questions I had about mountain dulcimers as well as high end guitars. The instrument selection is vast and the staff seem knowledgable.
After having spoken to the owner about the issue, I now recommend this store.
I had rated this place two stars when I left my lap steel to be repaired and it took a couple of months to even get the status. Turns out the guy who does repairs only comes by every couple of weeks and decided to skip a visit. Then when he did pick it up, my instrument was last in line behind a big backlog. Despite being assured of a call, I never got one. When I called House of Musical Traditions to see what was going on, they had no idea.
So I got the number of the repair guy and called him directly. Once the middleman was out of the picture, the process went smoothly. He did a great job replacing the pegs and the price was reasonable.
I upgraded the review to three stars because I’m over my annoyance and love the cool instruments and laid-back atmosphere of this shop. There is no place like it in the DC area that I know of. Or anywhere in the world that I’ve come across, for that matter. The guys who run it are super nice. Generous about letting you fool around with the instruments. Just don’t expect prompt or attentive service if you leave something to be repaired.
I left my harmonium with House of Musical Traditions on Jan 4, 2014 – ticket number 458050. The issue was simple – a few reeds would stick and I thought the seal in the air chamber may need new seals. I was supposed to be called after an evaluation with an estimate by the technician John Bell. I was never called with an estimate even though my business card was stuck inside the instrument. After calling several time with no status, I was told to send an e-mail to the technician. Though this e-mail was sent on Feb 28, 2014 I received no response. All of a sudden, I received a call on March 11, 2014 that my instrument was ready and the bill was $80. I picked it up the same day. I did talk to John on the phone and he told me he had opened the bottom to examine the air chamber. He kept telling me the instrument was old. Though it appeared to sound okay, after I came home I found that the scale changing mechanism no longer worked — it had been fixed in place at a lower scale than I would ever use. The instrument appeared to have been completely disassembled and then reassembled with poor workmanship. I was stunned. I called John and left a message to call me back. Now that the instrument is useless, I have to try to restore it myself. I find it hard to believe that anyone would do this to an instrument without ever asking permission from the owner.
This store repairs accordion microphone inputs since I have a condenser microphone, it is two microphones in one but when you connect the tip or plug as is normally done, only one microphone sounds the one on the grill but the one with the bass does not if I take it out in the middle more or less work the two microphones can repair this or what would be the problem in advance I hope your help thanks
My wife brought in two dulcimers into the store for repair in roughly mid-April. The person charged with making the repairs duly notified my wife by e-mail on April 24th that he could fix one of the dulcimers, but the other was not worth the time and effort to fix. My wife responded that she understood, but the unfixable dulcimer held a huge amount of sentimental value to her.The Repairer notified my wife that he would repair the one dulcimer and would return the other dulcimer to the store to return to us. My wife then went into the store last week to pick up both dulcimers. The store clerk or manager, Justin, said he threw the unfixable dulcimer away. He stated there was a note in their system authorizing him to do so. This was in fact false, as my wife’s communication with the Repairer explicitly state otherwise. Justin later admitted that there was a mix up, and they inadvertently threw our dulcimer away when it was another customer who had given permission to throw theirs away. This mix up has resulted in the loss of an instrument that held immense sentimental value to my wife and can never be replaced. We are bereft at this loss and appalled by the incompetence of the staff who would throw away a customer item without permission.

I would recommend the studio if you create urban music. Good quality
Listen Vision has already made history by becoming DCs official home of the Hip-hop museum but they are also the place to be. Love this place, they have always treated us like family. It’s a great community hub and meeting place for local musicians and artists. The radio shows and parties are always welcoming and full of great local talent. The new cannabis community forums are an awesome way to meet and great DC native cannabis enthusiasts.
Its 420 friendly
Work with several artist here when I’m in the DMV area. Unique engineers..
Downstairs need an upgrade tho.
Good packages for artist starting out..
Slow service
Anybody leaving 4 or 5 star reviews for this place is either lying for money or they are a fake account made by the owner. This place is the worst studio in the entire DMV. There are people with home studios in their basements that will give you a better quality recording and experience. This place is filthy and looks nothing like the pics. I don’t know how this place is still in business. The beats in their Beat Bar are stolen from local producers!! They will listen to people’s beats and RECREATE them to sell as their own. This place exploits the Black population in the area. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Find a place in MD or VA even if you have to drive 20 min or catch an Uber. Again DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
DO NOT USE THIS STUDIO. They’re highly unprofessional, unskilled, and dishonest. My friend and I came into Listen Vision to record 2 songs and they BUTCHERED one of our songs. The sound quality was the worse we’ve ever heard from a studio before. And when asked to help, instead of being honest with us and telling us no, they pretended to try to help, and sent us back THE EXACT SAME FILE. We felt very taken advantage of from these people, and urge the public to not use this studio ever.
As a former engineer there by the name of Smokeyy K. All of these reviews were made with false truths. Some of them were made by the owner himself to make this studio look good. It isn’t ran properly, he doesn’t look out for the engineers as far as equipment. Some equipment had to be brought in by the engineers who worked for the owner. Like recently, I had to come back to this establishment to assist one of my former co workers and they had issues due the fact that the equipment wasn’t available due to the fact that it wasn’t property of the studio’s. So to whomever reads this review, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
