Very well stocked store for just about any muscian. I bought a Fender Bass Guitar for my mucically talented son. The staff were incredibly kind, and professional. They were musicians, too. So helping my son pick out the guitar that bests suites him was pleasure to witness.
If you shop there, you won’t be disappointed.
Super nice staff and a really cool shop. Walked in trying to figure out what to add to my one man band act and they helped me figure out what to do!! Very kind and helpful folks, will definitely be going there for my future music needs
Amazing customer service. Understanding and helpful! Great experience on buying my first guitar.
Friendly and helpful
Great selection of new instruments, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Also they have the best luthier in the valley Chris Santa!
Worst customer service ever. Walked past all the employees I said hi to each one and none of them have any kind of response. If they only knew I had 2k cash in my pocket and was planning on buying a couple guitars and equipment. Off to the next place where I know they will ignolage my existence
Took a violin in to get a bride repaired the end of April. I asked for a quote of how much it would roughly cost at the time I dropped it off. The gal told me she didn’t know and the one to speak to about it was out till the next day. No big deal. She told me that he will call when he gets in and will give me a quote before the repairs will be done. A few days goes by and haven’t heard anything. Finally I called and he wasn’t in, again, and they said they will relay the message and get back with me shortly. Another few days passed with no word and called again and this time couldn’t get through. Finally after almost a month of nothing I went back and picked up my still broken violin and the best excuse was that it was the end of the school year. Not acceptable.
Horrible!! This place has the absolute worst customer service. Everyone is rude, prices are ridiculous, and selection is nothing to brag about. Save yourself time and money and go ANYWHERE but there.
A great product with a great price, plus some great service on top. Superb in every way, have no doubts about doing more business in the future!
I was looking for a Larrivee P-09 and I came across the Tune Up Guitars add on Reverb. I contact Nick directly and because we live close by, I had the pleasure to meet him in person and we spent some time chatting about guitars. Nick is a great guy you can really tell that he loves what is doing. The Larrivee I got from him is beautiful and off course sounds great. Next time I need a guitar Nick will be my first choice. I definitely recommend Tune Up Guitars to anyone is looking to buy a guitar.
I ordered a Larrivee 000 online, on a Sunday. Nick shipped out the next day, and it was in my hands in Portland Oregon on Wednesday. What I saw, was what I got. Nick sent me personal emails letting me know about my order’s progress.

Best music store! We met Dub who sold us a rare drum kit, gave us alot of help and equipment to get it road ready, even down to a pair of diamond sticks that ended up being awesome sticks!! Very cool place!
Geat music teachers
Dub went out of his way to fix my grand nephew’s keyboard. Thank you so much!!
Good shop. Needs more stuff.
Knowledgable, sincere staff who are working diligently to provide an alternative to the big box stores. They have a ways to go, but headed in the next direction.
I remember, not too long ago Gigs Music Company was owned and operated by Rick and Debbie Schroeder. They had an impressive enventory. Then it changed hands you another great musician who worked for the Schroeders from the beginning and held it’s integrity. It seems those days are over. I’ve been there a few times lately and it saddens me to say it’s really gone down hill. To say the service is poor would be a understatement. The inventory lacks quantity and quality both. It’s definitely not getting a favorable critique from me. Three stars is more than generous in my view.
Sell used stuff.
Talented man with music skills. Awful business techniques.
Went by to sell a couple guitars and amps on a Saturday. Hours on the door say they open at 11, but it was 1115 and noone was there. Another customer in the parking lot told me that “sometimes this just happens” and said he texted the owner to see when they were coming. At 1130 we both left. Follow the hours you show.
I received excellent help from Dave with finding a guitar tuner. I look forward to coming back here in the future.
It apparently takes them 3 days just to put on 4 strings on a violin. Cool and pretty stuff just I think their taking their own time.
General music store. Several Baby Grand pianos, a limited number of guitar brands, sheet music, and a few accessories.
Not as helpful as I’d hoped. Purchased a guitar somewhere else.
I called them to replace the hair bow of my violin and the strings they said they can do it. When I visited them they Saud they can’t replace the hair bow but only the strings so I had to to another music shop.
RENTER BEWARE! Insurance on rented instruments does not cover accidental damage. You are better off going to Dunkley and renting – their insurance DOES cover accidental damage. We found out the hard way and were first told that the insurance would cover the damage, then told it would not, and we were treated very rudely by the old guy who works there – I don’t think he can have a conversation without interrupting.
Rented a cello. The gave me student cello. Didn’t want to add note stickers on but gave me a pack for 8.00. This was the worst instrument I have ever seen. It could not be tuned. And the sound was pretty bad. I took it back in 3 days asked for a refund to which I received a prompt NO. Then I said to the man at the counter if you give this cello to a kid it’s going to turn him or her off to playing it. I imagined he would say I will take a look at it. But instead he came out swinging and proceeded to tell me off. I felt upset and hurt somewhat when I left. Went to Dunkley music they have better instruments and kinder people working there. They offered to add the stickers on without me asking. That was an easy 70.00 for Welch!

I just bought a drum set for my wife this last week. I don’t know anything about drumming at all, and Gavin went above and beyond to help me. They were busy, and he found time to explain to me the pros and cons of the different sets they had available when I was looking. He even called me the next day with the specials they had available with their recent holiday specials. His expertise and customer service blew me away. 10/10, highly recommend this store, and Gavin in particular Made my buying experience so pleasant. I could not be more happy. Thanks Gavin, and thank you guitar center
We spent a lot of time at the guitar store in always get the best service, I love how it’s such a fun interactive store with so many things to see and and new things that you can go in and test out before buying.
My go to place for anything guitar related. Intelligent and knowledgeable staff. They always have time to answer questions I come in with even when they are busy. Some of those times seem rushed but I understand the nature of customer service and that you can only give so much attention to one person in a store full of people asking questions.
I drove an hour and a half to get to the closest guitar center, they made it worth it! Thank you.
Very helpful staff who appear to enjoy their job a lot.
Very knowledgeable employees. Great attitudes.
Worst experience I have ever had brought in a used drum set and they proceeded to tell me that it did not work and told me I was being argumentative even though the man testing the equipment had no business doing so and I eventually showed him how the electronic drum set worked and prove that it did work and that he had no business freaking out and telling me that my drum set didn’t work never will go back never will spend my money with these people horrible service and horrible selection of drums worst music shop ever
Low inventory, Barr walls, limited on hand selection…very disappointed
Not sure why but everytime, and I mean EVERYTIME, it is tough to get help or service here and when you do get service it’s a flip of the coin on whether you get good service or somebody that is nice or even cares. Just disappointed but don’t have a lot of options if you are professional musician.

Great shop, very glad I found it! Had a new acoustic that didn’t feel quite right, took it in for a set up and was very pleased with the result. Rob was great to work with and I look forward to taking my business there in the future.
I can’t say enough great things about this local guitar store!!! I’m so happy to see an old fashioned full service guitar shop back in Boise…So long Guitar Center , And Good Riddance.
Daryl sold the business to new owners and they are not very knowledgeable about guitar repairs or timely about getting back to you. I had to take my guitar repairs to somewhere else to get it done right. But being a local shop, they are still better than a chain store in many ways.
Used stuff !! Cheap…
They bought my test equipment for repairs and haven’t paid! They are liars. No education in electronics at all!
Found the place to be a mix of junk and overpriced items. Might be the only local music shop in town, but it won’t be getting my money, given the owner’s criminal history, not a great place for kids.
Really bad service. I left and went to Guitar Center and spent $1700.00 at Guitar Center. Terrible place.

Whenever I need anything for my ukulele I go to Dunkley and ask for Tanya. Very professional and knowledgeable!
Dunkley’s is an excellent music store! We love their selection of music, lesson and theory books and their wide range of instruments. We are there every week for piano lessons — they have a group of amazing music teachers! Their recital room is spacious and has two nice pianos for recitals. High recommend!
Everyone here is super friendly and makes the process of renting an instrument easy. We have rented twice through Dunkley for two of our kiddos. Both times we had an awesome experience. We will definitely continue giving them our business.
I enjoy DM very much. It’s so much fun to look around to see all the instruments they have in-store. They had the gift I was looking for (and then some). Someday, I’ll take those violin lessons. For now, I’m saving up to get myself that keyboard bench.
I have bought a Kawai CN25 from Marion in a total of sale price of 600 plus 13 month renting period. Ends up with about 1645 U.S dollar. I am really happy with what I’ve purchased. And Marion is very nice on settling the deals with me.
Nice location. For service, I prefer the Nampa store.
I took my guitar to Dunkley Music to repair its broken bridge. A week passed without so much as a phone call or e-mail to give me an estimate for the work. I stopped in and an employee told me that they intended to give my guitar to an independent tech to fix it. Fine; no worries. Four weeks passed. FOUR WEEKS. No phone call, no e-mail. I finally returned to the store to get my guitar. A different employee greeted me and retrieved my guitar from among a dozen or so others, which were no doubt collecting dust while not being worked on. She said, “Let’s take a look and see that the work has been completed.” Shocker: it hadn’t. I told her that they had had five weeks now to at least take a look at it and give me an estimate. The fact that they hadn’t was a sure sign that they didn’t give a damn about me, my guitar, or my business. I would call the service terrible, but “non-existent” is a better descriptor.
I hesitate to share this review because I’m sure they have quality product and talented professionals at Dunkley. However, both times I have visited the Boise location the customer service was non existent. I won’t speculate too much why (although I have my suspicions) but being completely ignored (not even made eye contact) by multiple employees for the entire duration of the visit is unacceptable service. I’ve heard from other people who’ve had the same experience. I’ll continue going to Dorsey music in Nampa for this reason.
Staff have very poor customer service skills, their attitude was down right rude. My issue was not resolved- despite being a customer for 8 years. It seems loyalty no longer matters to Mark Dunkley.
