Great place to visit and have a after market radio or remote starter put in. Speak to John he will take good care of ya very fair on prices
I don’t write reviews too often but Frank at Audio Pro CT definitely deserves one!
I made an online purchase from here and unfortunately have not met with Frank before as I am located a couple of states away. Nevertheless Frank gave me excellent advice not only in regards to the purchase I was making, but also in answering some of my general questions regarding my home studio setup.
Frank also double-boxed my purchase which was very nicely done.
I have no hesitation in recommending Audio Pro CT and plan on doing business there again in the near future!

Terrible customer service and products. Got a subwoofer that was distorted. They wouldn’t accept a full refund, wanted a restocking fee, and didn’t want to pay for shipping. Their rude customer service rep closed my return ticket and I filed for a dispute with my credit card company. Terrible business, will not recommend anyone who wants quality products and satisfactory customer service.

The Sulls were perfect! We wanted a fun, engaging and upbeat band to play at our wedding and The Sulls were that and more. From our first interaction to our wedding night, they were extremely easy to work with and very organized. Everyone at our wedding LOVED them and are still telling us how awesome they were! We’re so happy they were part of our night and made it so fun. Thank you!!
The Sulls played at my daughter’s wedding in Boston in October.
Such a great band… had everyone dancing and terrific energy! Even let the mother of bride join them on stage. Highly recommend!
The best wedding band. The Sulls were so pleasant to work, amazingly talented and not only did we love it but our guests kept commenting on how great the band was. Can’t thank them enough for celebrating our wedding with us!

Very friendly and helpful. They have great prices on new and used instruments. I will definitely be coming back.
Hay de todo
Fantastic place for all your musical needs! Every accessory imaginable and a great guitar and percussion display. I was a kid in a candy store!
Staff is very knowledgeable especially Chaz! Sometimes the audio department only has one person and you could wait a while for assistance…other than that great customer service!
Lack of employees made it hard to get our questions answered. They didn’t have what we were looking for in stock but according to their website it was. Prices seemed very high even on used equipment.
Although as I understand it they’ve been having financial issues across the company at least I see a continuous striving and attempt to make changes and find an alternative business model that will work. Usually the workers here are very helpful and engaging when necessary but not overbearing and helicopter-ish. I like it.
These guys just thwarted THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!
I attempted to return/exchange a 12 pack of Fender Medium guitar picks because I use Heavy. Just an even exchange — I did not have the receipt but I figured it would be no biggie. Not at this store!!! No way, Jose! I thought I could get away with a fast one but these guys are SUPER SHARP (and they know I can only get these at about a million other places). I’m lucky to have sped away before the SWAT Team showed up.
Maybe when they go bankrupt, I’ll bid on some lots of Fender guitar picks, just for schadenfreude. (Of course, I am required to give at least one-star so I will make the worn-out statement that they don’t even deserve that.) Now, onto amazon.com!
(UPDATE: These guys can’t even get my name right! In an email, they apologized for the “typo” but they have not corrected it, which leads me to believe it was NEVER a typo to begin with! Avoid this chain and buy local!)
Went with my husband to buy a guitar for him. Called ahead of time and confirmed this guitar was there. We were checking out but found out it was missing the certificate. Inquired about it, turned out that the guitar was not new and was previously owned and returned without the certificate. They did not label the guitar as used gear and tried to play it off as if it was no big deal about being priced as new, priced above their online price and without the certificate. Meanwhile, before we found all this out, the guy at the register is just playing the guitar we assume is new awaiting to buy.
Overall was just not a great experience and their dishonesty about what they are selling will be reasons we do not go back to this store.
Poor excuse for a retail store. Useless and lazy employees who know nothing about the gear on display nor the proper value of a trade-in, that is, if you can get one of the elitist employees to even consider your trade. There’s more than one reason GC’s are going down the crap pipe and it’s not just poor corporate management and over inflated price tags. It’s stores like the Orange, CT location being unwelcoming on a fundamental basis. Out of all the GC’s I’ve ever visited, in VT, MA, NC, FL, GA, New Jersey and NYC, this one is the most atrocious by a wide margin. And, with the exception of the NY location, the most expensive too.

My daughter has been taking piano classes for almost a year now. Ms. Eniko is a very good teacher. She is experienced and good with kids. My daughter loves her.
The owners are great. Gail and her husband john know everything when I comes to the axe ( guitar ). If your just looking or buy ing please go there leave the big stores alone. Much much better service than and chain store.
Thru the past decade.. maybe longer… I have found Route 1 Guitars to be an incredible store for any needs I have musically. The do all my repairs and setups… always perfect. They also help me to buy and sell in my range of interests in instruments, effects and amplifiers. They never fail and always go the extra mile to be of service. Not to mention that they have the most versatile teachers that can get you playing whatever you desire and also knowing what you are doing musically. Dare I say for the best prices around? The staff is always bending over backwards doing their very best to please the customer. They have not only become amazing friends but like a home away from home. Route 1 Guitars ROCKS! You can’t go wrong here.
Great place! Great instructors! Lots of great guitars for purchase!
Nice staff
Knowledgeable staff, in addition to guitars, keyboards, etc… They have school instrument rentals
Absolute joke of a store.
Sent my guitar (Fender Jazzmaster) for connection electric issue. After roughly a week and a half guitar was done just for it to have the same issue. What a disappointment
Call before visiting the store. They say they’re open at 12:30 but don’t show up for hours after the fact. I get it, they’re a small operation, but wasting your local customer’s time doesn’t breed repeat customers. I needed to be in the store three times. All three times, my time was wasted because the store wasn’t open during their own published times of operation. Just rent your kid’s instrument from somewhere else.
11. Static Era Records
Address: 43 River St, Milford, CT 06460 , Woodmont , Connecticut , United States
Owner is a good dude, fair pricing. I’ll be going back soon
Great record store nicely located in downtown Milford right near the train line. The store is small but with a nicely curated selection of vinyl, especially punk and hardcore but other genres as well. The owners are enthusiastic and love talking about music. Definitely worth a visit!
Stopped in for Record Store Day yesterday. Nice people with a unique selection.
12. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 95 Amity Rd, New Haven, CT 06515 , Woodmont , Connecticut , United States
Love this music store. Very welcoming and they really have most everything you could need, in store, or can be ordered and picked up in store. I have found upon occasion that prices in store can be higher than what is offered online; However, they ALWAYS will honor the online price without any fuss. I have always found staff to be knowledgeable, and their advice is spot on. Worth a visit, even if you have to travel a distance.
Love it
Like a kid in a candy store at Sam Ash
The people there are very polite and friendly, you can ask questions and they let you try the instrument without annoying you trying to sell.
Decent selection, nice staff, but none of the electronic drums were on, no drumsticks, nobody asked if I needed help. Drum counter salesperson never raised his head from his computer to ask me if I needed anything. Not all drummers are there to show off. I haven’t played in years, and wanted a quiet practice kit. I ended up leaving with guitar picks. I guess I’ll go online. : (
Very good variety of guitars and knowledgeable staff that are friendly and never pushy.
Merchandise walks out the door with disgruntled employees and no one seems to care. I had recently checked the website to see if they had what i was looking for and it said limited stock. Fair enough so i call the store and yes they confirm there is one left. After sitting in traffic for almost an hour and a half because the closest sam ash is quite the drive for me, i finally get there and it is nowhere to be found. They made a feeble attempt at offering to order it and take something like 9 dollars off which basically amounted to not paying the sales tax but i would now have to wait several more days and make the long trip out there again plus i would have to pay for it now for them to order it. Needless to say I declined and left disappointed. But the next week out of curiosity i checked the website and sure enough it says they have it so i call and and the guy says no we had one but our old manager took it but i can order it for you. Again i would have to pay in advance and it would take a week to ten days. So several weeks later yes it’s still listed on the website but is not in stock and no one seems interested in restocking or updating the website. Needless to say i go to guitar center which is about 5 minutes away from me. They’ve been friendly and helpful when i order things it takes maybe 3 to 5 days depending on the items and they actually restock their inventory. I gave sam ash 3 tries and they blew it every time. Go to guitar center in Orange CT not sam ash in new haven.
I was considering buying a guitar, bass and an interface. I was completely ignored by all employees while I was one of three customers in the store(a pair of young men who were clearly there to buy were also ignored). Not even a greeting or goodbye. Find a mom and pop, or even a pawn shop. Don’t support these miserable people. They have a terrible selection, high prices, they profile and are miserable people to be near. I could have bought but wanted nothing to do with them after finally procuring the ‘attention’ of someone for a fleeting moment. I won’t be back.

13. Traveling Musician – Music Lessons in Your Home
Friendly employees!! Great place to shop for those of you who still collect CD’s & Cassettes.
This place was exactly what I was hoping for. The owner ( I assume he was the owner) was very helpful and I found so many good albums that I lost on dead ipods over the years. Give them a whirl, you won’t be dissatisfied.
Such great nostalgic items. Prices are great. One of the last record shops. Love this place.
Pricey. A lot of original records and great place for treasure hunting. They guarantee their records. The ambiance is very chill. Records playing. Gym next door can be loud if by wall and distracting.
Decades of records to look through and priced as originals.
Would go back again for a specific record. Priced too high for routine record shopping.
Solid record store. Mostly rock vinyl. Picked up several classic rocks albums when I was there.
Great place to go if you’re looking for “consignment records”. Honestly, if that’s what you’re all about and want nothing to do with vinyl after 1987 then head on over to Merle’s. If you’re like me and like a mix of the old, new, and everything in between well then you might want to seek out another venue. They also have audio equipment, posters, CD’s, cassette tapes, and other little oddities you’d expect to find in a record shop.
No prices on the LPs? Really? I am supposed to bring up to the counter what I want, and then you price it? Ridiculous. I walked in with a couple hundred to spend and was impressed with the selection, but unpriced merchandise is a non-starter for me.
Very nice owner and staff. However I was not happy with the outcome. After dropping 2 record players/stereo systems off (and paying non refundable fees, to diagnose them), and getting the call that they were ready for pickup……one didn’t work when I got there and the other stopped working when I got it home. Mike was willing to keep trying to repair them, which I did appreciate (I know they are old units) but, by that time, I had lost confidence and cut my losses. Driving back and forth would’ve been a hassle and I was afraid to pay the 500 repair fee, only to get it home and have it stop working again.
Ridiculously disorganized shop where the clerk pulls prices out of thin air at checkout. Piles of junk everywhere, a bit of this and a bit of that, questions regarding specific artists/genres/etc lead you on a wild goose chase in places with no logic and no pot at the end of the rainbow. I’ve been collecting for many years but even I would never ever claim to be able to price every record in existence on sight.
15. Rock House School of Music
Address: 52 Collis St, West Haven, CT 06516 , Woodmont , Connecticut , United States
Absolutely amazing place. Everybody there is so friendly and welcomes you in like family. The instructors are all very experienced and have achieved some pretty cool things to show for it! Look no further if you’re interested in learning or improving up on any musical talent. Can’t recommend these guys enough.
A great place to learn music with an excellent professional staff. Family oriented and willing to work with your ever changing schedules.
These folks are really nice and very good for someone who wants to get into music. Well worth checkin them out
It’s a great experience to work with Stefan, not just for a Subaru owner but also as a customer. He is very patient and taking care of my car with very clean and nice installation of speakers, amp and subwoofer. I used to complain about my speakers are “under water” but after the excitement of 2 days waiting, he didn’t let me down. With a new set of sounds system paired up with my kenwood head unit that I installed last year and subwoofer adjustability. I can finally enjoy music while I’m cursing on the highway and don’t have to listen the drone from my exhaust. Thank you again!
David’s the man. Took the time to answer all my questions, was honest and I never felt like he was trying to game me. When I finally pulled the trigger, he gave me a clear time frame that he stuck to. Couldn’t be happier with the finished product. Will definitely be back.
They designed and installed a great system. Finished on time and were great to work with all the way through. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny!
Had my windows tinted here had them done there times and still all filled with bubbles and contamination. Stay away from this place. Terrible.
Was supposed to have a back up camera and back up sensors installed in my truck. Was working with Dave.
I was told the parts are on order for the entire summer. He never called me I always called him to check the status. Was always told they are on ordered. Like a fool I gave him the benefit of the doubt for just about a year. I found it hard to believe so I stopped calling to inquire and he never called me to tell me the parts had arrived. My guess is the parts were never ordered and I just wasn’t important enough as a repeat customer. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
I had these guys put a set of speakers and an amp a few years back. and finally I decided to upgrade the system. I was told by another shop that they gave a s#$%^ job. and he show me how everything was connected. I was very disappointed. I paid these guys a lot of money and I still could not get a decent job. for the speakers they use dried wall screen to the body of the car. so my car was rattling. then they use the wrong bracket for the speaker. so more rattling. the twitter were just hanging there by a small thread. the wiring was very sloppy. it has to be redon. my speakers were making a buzzing sound as well. and to top it off. the amp that was installed is a good amp. but they just place it under the seat. with no bracket to hold it. so had to keep moving it back. seriously, this is one of the worse. Do not give them your hard earn money if they cannot do the job properly.
“We hired OBrien Strings for our Valentine’s Day Wine Dinner and they were fabulous. The guitar and violin duo was perfect for the evening. They played a wonderful selection of romantic songs! Very pleasant to work with, and would recommend them to anyone looking for live entertainment for an event!”
Thank you again for the fun program of music entertainment last night for the Wallingford Historical Society. I believe everyone enjoyed and appreciated the beautiful sound and talent you shared.
Kate and Kate OBrien Strings were a special and premium addition to our wedding ceremony. The charm of having beautiful string music playing as we walked down the aisle brought our ceremony to the next level and made the moment feel even more special and memorable. Kate was easy to work with – very responsive and helped guide me to figure out exactly what kind of songs we wanted played during our ceremony. The string trio all arrived and set-up on our wedding day without any intervention needed from the bridal party, which is very appreciated on a busy day. I would recommend working with Kate and the Strings Trio group for your wedding (or any special occasion) to add a special element to your event.
