The owner was very helpful and answered all of our questions! We will be back
The most variety of authentic imported drums available in the U.S! All the best brands of instruments from Brazil from so many musical traditions. Samba, samba reggae, forró, maracatu, etc. Master drummer and expert advice. Carl knows his drums!
Virada Drums is the home for all things Brazilian percussion. The shop has a great selection of drums and auxiliary percussion from the best brands in Brazil, and the website has awesome resources for studying the music! Carl is an ambassador for the Boulder-Brazil connection and will surely guide you in a great direction.
Super confusing called and drove around knocked on the door but no answer. Really strange. Went to the drum shop and spent 220$ on a super big jimba! Asked people at surrounding shops and in the parking lot and people painting the outside and every one said I don’t know. So weird no sing or nothing.
3. HB Woodsongs
Address: 3101 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
The staff is friendly, and there’s a good selection of books and instruments.
Great store, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Never had an issue with anything I’ve bought there.
I have been shopping at Woodsongs for years… It is truly an institution here in Boulder! Their sales people are never pushy and always helpful… Not something you see in sales these days which is refreshing! Each person that works there is very knowledgeable, not just some college kid punching the clock. If you are lucky enough, talk with their salesman Shawn, he knows a thing or two about guitars! He’ll even strum along with you, but be prepared, the guy rips! I have recommended them to many of my musical friends. You will see local acts, as well as, established musicians shopping at Woodsongs which speaks volumes! In addition, if they do not have what you are looking for they have absolutely know problem telling you who does. I cannot speak anymore highly about the service and quality of Woodsongs!
Small but nice musical instruments stores. They don’t have a lot of stuff (my only complaint), but you be able to find some accessories and also some high-end acoustic guitars. Salespersons are friendly and they also have a music school in this place.
Go to place in Boulder for all of my acoustic instrument needs. Good people, excellent service, nice atmosphere.
Attentive staff. Good selection. Prices are average to high.
Very friendly staff, unfortunately way over-priced. You can find some of the exact same items on ebay or Amazon for less than half the price at this store.
4. Akashic Recording Studio
Address: 1388 Deer Trail Rd, Boulder, CO 80302 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Wonderful place for everything from beginner bows and instruments to fine, high end options. Beautiful craftsman shop and very knowledgeable and helpful. We are fortunate to have a place like this in our small area!
Knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.
9. The Boulder Drum Shop
Address: 3070 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Most awesome drum shop. Bill the owner couldn’t be nicer and he is super knowledgeable..highly recommend..scored 3 Wuhan cymbals while there and can’t wait to return!!
Billy is just the nicest guy. He’s a drummer, so he knows his stuff. I consigned three of my hand drums over a year ago. He sold them all for me. At least one of the buyers lost his house in the fire and wanted to replace a drum they lost. Billy called me to ask if I’d discount the price for him, which of course, I did. My husband may want a new ride cymbal soon, and we will definitely go see Billy.
Best place for drums and percussion in Boulder and the surrounding area!
Fun little shop with a good amount of stuff
Good selection, friendly and helpful staff. Support your local music shops!!
Owner is very rude
Awful very rude and scary aggressive man that works there. I will never return again!
Waited at the store as they said they opened at 11 on sundays and nobody ever showed. Be there when you say your gonna be open.
10. Boogie Lou’s House of Music
Address: 5461 Western Ave unit b, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
I am so happy with how my viola looks and sounds after David worked on it. My viola still had the bridge he made over 35 years ago, and was in need of several repairs. I would have called the work “major” because to me it seemed so, but he’s done so much repair, restoration, and making of instruments (including fine ones) that this was certainly no big deal for him! He is very meticulous, knowledgeable, ethical, and passionate about everything related to string instruments. He took the time to explain every problem, the solution(s), and answer completely each of my questions. He also generously let me borrow a lovely viola he made that has a beautiful resonant, warm tone and was a pleasure to play. David is a very kind person and a lot of fun to talk with. I can’t recommend him enough!
Mr. Goodrich is a very interesting and skilled man. He fixed my violin and it is much improved. Would definitely recommend.
They were not open! Next time Boulder
12. Paradise Found Records & Music
Address: 1646 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Great shop with eclectic, varied collection. Thoroughly worthwhile.
One of my favorite record shops to visit. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Top tier customer service. I love Bart’s but my wallet doesn’t. Always something awesome to add to your collection when visiting.
Absolutely one of the best record shops I have visited! Staff is great.
Records priced fairly and packaged well.
For me, a “must visit” when I’m in the Boulder area.
They have a really nice selection offered at this store. Most record stores tend to be a bit grungy (for me that is totally okay) but this store is nice and welcoming.
Great shop, good selection. Well organized and bright.
Huge record selection but a bit over priced
13. Guitar and Bass Lessons w/ Eric Wiggs
Address: 2027 Broadway suite d, Boulder, CO 80304 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Small room, big sound, great vibes, & great location.
Jackson helped make my project better than I could have imagined. This was a fun, straightforward process. He knew what he was doing and the studio was very comfortable!
I love Broadway Music Studios! I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. Very knowledgeable people with welcoming vibes. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to make some magic happen
17. Boulder Piano Gallery
Address: 3111 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Some of the nicest guys I’ve ever met here, that do excellent work. I drove over an hour and half to take my guitars to these guys, and I would do it again.
Very professional. Long wait for any repairs but worth the wait!
I had a great experience here. I took my upright bass in and was immediately impressed by their knowledge. More importantly, they took the time to understand what I wanted, my budget, and provided great options without trying to upsell me.
Nice guitar repair shop, probably one of the best in CO. Guys are really friendly. Downside: their services are really expensive, and also there is a 40-day waiting list (which shows people like the job they do).
They maintain and fix stringed instruments, and they do it well. They can be a little pricey, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Mike is the guy to talk to if your axe needs some major love and attention.
I heard that these guys were good , so I took my ’72 Telecaster in for a re-fret. The tech was in such a hurry , he didn’t bother to plane the fingerboard. The finished fret job had a forward bow , which could NOT be adjusted out ,with the truss-rod. Long story short , I’m out $900 with a useless “72 Fender maple neck. These ego trippers need to get their act together. Very sloppy work .
Absolutely incredible! We hired Lyric Ensemble for our son’s wedding in Denver- and we were thrilled with their amazing live music. The musicians were very professional and talented- the music was just beautiful! Kimberlee was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. She made it so easy and gave great suggestions. The trio was one of the highlights of the day. Highly recommend!
The Lyric Ensemble did a lecture/concert for my music history students at Tara Performing Arts High School last semester. They are a wonderful group of top-notch musicians, sharing of their knowledge and enthusiasm to bring the composers’ history and musical context alive for the students, which I very much appreciated and enjoyed thoroughly myself! They offer a high level of expertise and can tailor their offerings to your occasion, creating a program old and new music if desired. Altogether a relaxed and classy way to bring a beautiful program to a young and new audience! Thank you!
Kimberlee and her crew are expert, sensitive musicians. It is a delight to hear and watch them. Their range of selections is entertaining and appropriate.
20. Harmony Music House of Boulder
Address: 2525 1/2 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304 , Boulder County , Colorado , United States
Love it here for friendly affordable music lessons!
Wonderful community-oriented lesson studio. I’ve had only fantastic experiences with Robby and all the staff.
Thank you Harmony House for supporting local foster children! Your classes are fantastic and we are grateful for your community support.
Parking is a little odd but great staff
I think the instructor was good but was frequently on tour so this disrupted the progress of the lessons. My schedule changed so I decided to shift to another instructor closer to home which has worked out well.
Be very careful to keep track of lessons and don’t let a credit build up because you won’t get it back. Even after Robbie agreed to split the difference on a refund, I never got the hundred dollars back. Repeated emails got no response. Lesson learned.
