There is an instrument repair shop in back. Had a trumpet and trombone repaired. Great work
I’ve purchased three instruments from here and whether new or used, they were all high quality and fairly priced. The folks working here are just as great, very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice location too, right by a nice bike path with several restaurants and shops in walking distance.
Awesome little music shop. Stuff was super friendly. I really enjoy the set of harmonicas I got from there 🙂 thank you guys for existing
Attentive staff. Good selection. Prices are average to high.
Go to place in Boulder for all of my acoustic instrument needs. Good people, excellent service, nice atmosphere.
Called long distance for a specific piece of sheet music. While they do not have it in the store, the sales rep named Derek was extremely helpful and courteous. Kudos to him.
Very friendly staff, unfortunately way over-priced. You can find some of the exact same items on ebay or Amazon for less than half the price at this store.
5. Paradise Found Records & Music
Address: 1646 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
This is overall a good record store. The staff was helpful and it was pretty easy to find the records that I needed. I went there with my dad as well at one point and he also agreed that there are quite a few options.
Great staff and good used record collection.
Needs more metal though.
I loved the record selection and the mix of old, new, and used albums. Prices were really good too for what I was getting. The staff was so personable, chatted with me about the artists whose records I was purchasing, and gave me more recommendations. Would 1000% recommend!
They have a really nice selection offered at this store. Most record stores tend to be a bit grungy (for me that is totally okay) but this store is nice and welcoming.
Great shop, good selection. Well organized and bright.
I’ve been to many record shops in Colorado, and Bart’s continues to be one of my all time favorites. Their selection of albums are excellent, if not sometimes verging on the unbelievable. I’ve been able to purchase albums I thought I’d never be able to own. The customer service is also very excellent and helpful. An all around enjoyable shopping experience.
6. Goodrich Violins
Address: 1045 Pearl St, Boulder, CO 80302 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Mr. Goodrich is a very interesting and skilled man. He fixed my violin and it is much improved. Would definitely recommend.
I am so happy with how my viola looks and sounds after David worked on it. My viola still had the bridge he made over 35 years ago, and was in need of several repairs. I would have called the work “major” because to me it seemed so, but he’s done so much repair, restoration, and making of instruments (including fine ones) that this was certainly no big deal for him! He is very meticulous, knowledgeable, ethical, and passionate about everything related to string instruments. He took the time to explain every problem, the solution(s), and answer completely each of my questions. He also generously let me borrow a lovely viola he made that has a beautiful resonant, warm tone and was a pleasure to play. David is a very kind person and a lot of fun to talk with. I can’t recommend him enough!
They were not open! Next time Boulder
7. Autographed Music Memorabilia and Gifts
Address: 1320 Pearl St UNIT 107, Boulder, CO 80302 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Great location to get what you want.
Super helpful and knowledgeable staff.
The Boulder Piano Gallery has a really awesome selection of grand, upright, and digital pianos, a nice atmosphere, and a helpful and pleasant staff. I arrived hoping to sample digital pianos for both their feel and sound quality, and I was absolutely delighted to be able to test more than 15 models over a wide range of price points.
I really can’t recommend this store highly enough.
Outstanding selection and friendly knowledgeable staff.
Attended a jazz performance here. Was pleasantly surprised with this venue but the temperature did get a bit too high for comfort.
Very rude and unhelpful staff, they kicked me out simply for playing music they didnt like. Suppose they dont like Monk.
10. Broadway Music Studios
Address: 2401 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Jackson helped make my project better than I could have imagined. This was a fun, straightforward process. He knew what he was doing and the studio was very comfortable!
I love Broadway Music Studios! I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. Very knowledgeable people with welcoming vibes. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to make some magic happen
What began as a phenomenal client-studio relationship at Broadway Music Studios — I first came in to track vocals through the vintage pre-amps — has since developed into a creative partnership I wouldn’t trade for anything. There are few studios in Colorado that treat artists as well as Broadway Music Studios.
11. Harmony Music House of Boulder
Address: 2525 1/2 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80304 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
We love Harmony so much. Our son’s trumpet teacher, Eric Dorr, has been working with him for several years, both before and since he began taking lessons through BVSD. Eric is a patient and skilled teacher who has given our child a love for playing great music and a great foundation that he is now building on to explore increasingly challenging and interesting pieces. In particular, we love Harmony’s approach to recitals, which showcases the kids’ musical development in a homey, encouraging atmosphere.
If you’ve ever been interested in getting into bluegrass or playing music with others, Harmony House is a really great place to get started. Robby is an awesome instructor and he does a good job accommodating all levels. Join one of these classes and go play some music….you won’t be disappointed!
Thank you Harmony House for supporting local foster children! Your classes are fantastic and we are grateful for your community support.
Parking is a little odd but great staff
I think the instructor was good but was frequently on tour so this disrupted the progress of the lessons. My schedule changed so I decided to shift to another instructor closer to home which has worked out well.
Be very careful to keep track of lessons and don’t let a credit build up because you won’t get it back. Even after Robbie agreed to split the difference on a refund, I never got the hundred dollars back. Repeated emails got no response. Lesson learned.
12. The Boulder Drum Shop
Address: 3070 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Fantastic options and the owner Billy is so kind and knowledgeable. We’ve already sent all our friends there as we’re working to start a drum circle. Thanks Billy for all the kind and thorough help.
The owner is very knowledgeable and kind.
Fun little shop with a good amount of stuff
Good selection, friendly and helpful staff. Support your local music shops!!
Awful very rude and scary aggressive man that works there. I will never return again!
Waited at the store as they said they opened at 11 on sundays and nobody ever showed. Be there when you say your gonna be open.
Owner is very rude
13. McVean Music Studios LLC
Address: 3215 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Wonderful place for everything from beginner bows and instruments to fine, high end options. Beautiful craftsman shop and very knowledgeable and helpful. We are fortunate to have a place like this in our small area!
I brought my 1980 Sergio Peresson violin to Reed because it wasn’t sounding like it used to. Reed checked it for open seams and determined that it needed a new soundpost. He said it took four different times for him to correctly fit the new soundpost he made. When I picked up the violin, I drew the bow for one second on the open strings, and I fell in love. I knew immediately that the sound had been restored. I can’t stop playing my violin!
Reed was soooo friendly over the phone.
17. Guitar Lessons – Singing, Voice, & Piano Lessons in Boulder | The Lesson Studio
Address: 3200 Valmont Rd #8, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
Our daughter has been at The Lesson Studio for over 3 years. She has been taking voice lessons and we are impressed with the quality of instruction and coaching she has received. Monika, her voice teacher, is very knowledgeable and incredibly patient. She is excellent with students of all ages.
Our 11-year old son has been doing his trombone lessons at the Lesson Studio with a great instructor, April. She’s been very motivating to him, and he is progressing nicely. We receive detailed notes after each lesson, which is a nice detail. His trip to the Lesson Studio is a weekly highlight for him. Highly recommended.
If you are looking for a fabulous studio to learn music, look no further. My son LOVES his drum instructor and I am shocked at how much he has learned in the time that he has been here. I took adult guitar lessons and my instructor was brilliant! Brilliant studio!
Attended a trial piano lesson with Ryan Benthall on 11/19. He is a fantastic teacher! I left my first lesson feeling accomplished and enthusiastic about learning to play.
Avoid this spot. Both instructors I tried were unprofessional, lacked teaching experience, and didn’t help me (an adult beginner) progress. The owner promised a lesson package verbally and then started ignoring my calls and emails when I needed to pause the lessons, as we had verbally agreed on. Instead I was charged nearly a thousand dollars for lessons I told him I could not attend when signing up. I would not trust this company or refer them.
Teachers were terrible here. It’s mostly musicians at the college doing this as a side-gig. They are good musicians but awful teachers. More than one would just give me (a complete beginner) material way WAY beyond my skill level and every lesson was just repeats of me (obviously) not being able to perform the song. Big waste of money. Went elsewhere afterwards and my skills/abilities quickly grew.
Our initial perspective of The Lesson Studio was not bad. However, when an unforeseen conflict happened to our family, the owner was rude, unforgiving, and money-hungry. This business ended up charging us two additional months that we could not attend and money our family did not have due to the other charges we had to pay from the conflict.
Although we signed a contract to finish the semester, I find this a bit over the top. Due to an uncontrollable schedule conflict that we were unaware of at the time of registration, we were forced to remove our child – who had NO control over her schedule changes – from the music program.
To be clear, the terms say: “It is our expectation and your confirmation that you have taken into consideration the lesson times, duration of this agreement, practice times, transportation to lessons, costs, selected payment option, and any future time conflicts; which may include (but not limited to) – homework, after school activities, and seasonal sports…”
The terms and conditions for a student activity are completely unfair, and I apologized for the inconvenience but the owner didn’t care – at that point they were just collecting my money.
For the record, we did take his terms into consideration but a new schedule was given to us and we had to rearrange. Even after I had made it clear from the beginning in emails to the owner that other activities may become a conflict issue, he ignored me and kept charging me.
Finally, as I wrote to him to try to work this out, he never responded to my final request (an email very similar to this post) and simply kept sending me bills.
I would not recommend this organization based solely on the lack of appropriate communication and inflexibility of the program. I would recommend that this program and programs like it adjust their contracts with a bit more flexibility as families have constant change and parents are stressed out enough to keep their kids busy and healthy.
18. Boogie Lou’s House of Music
Address: 5461 Western Ave unit b, Boulder, CO 80301 , Boulder , Colorado , United States
This place is awesome! I took my guitar there for a setup. It’s an older guitar so Matt had to tweak it quite a bit. I can play guitar so much easier now and I can practice twice as long. The people at Woodsong’s are very knowledgeable and honest. Thanks for all the help, I will definitely be back for future needs.
Immense thanks to Woodsong’s and specifically Zach(k?) for doing incredible work on several of my guitars. Knowledgeable, friendly, and above they provided the best setups of my life. Will definitely return with all future work!
I just got my treasured 1957 Gibson J-45 back from Woodsongs and feel compelled to share my experience. I had dropped it off for major surgery to repair some top cracks, brace separations and to remove a clothespin that some cowboy genius, somewhere in its past, had billy-glued into the braces to keep the top from collapsing.
I was extremely nervous to entrust my guitar to just anyone for these repairs and did a lot of research before deciding to drive 45 minutes out of my way to consult with Woodsongs. Jonathan gave me a detailed and expert prognosis about the work that was needed, which gave me the confidence to hand it over to him. Suffice to say that I am beyond delighted with the finished product and the fair price. The workmanship is just beautiful and my guitar has never sounded better. Many thanks to Jonathan and Woodsongs for breathing new life into my beloved guitar!
Nice guitar repair shop, probably one of the best in CO. Guys are really friendly. Downside: their services are really expensive, and also there is a 40-day waiting list (which shows people like the job they do).
They maintain and fix stringed instruments, and they do it well. They can be a little pricey, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Mike is the guy to talk to if your axe needs some major love and attention.
I heard that these guys were good , so I took my ’72 Telecaster in for a re-fret. The tech was in such a hurry , he didn’t bother to plane the fingerboard. The finished fret job had a forward bow , which could NOT be adjusted out ,with the truss-rod. Long story short , I’m out $900 with a useless “72 Fender maple neck. These ego trippers need to get their act together. Very sloppy work .
