Ive been doing business with these guys for years. Ive never had any problems. Reading some of these negative reviews I can only assume the customer did not understand how a small town pawn shop operates. I like ’em.
I enjoy my visit every year I go up there, they get my DVD ‘s ..we look for more ..always straight up with me ..look forward to stopping again this year ..
Love This Shop, I Always Buy A Couple Knives, Which Are Very Good Quality And Ver Reasonable
These guys are the cringiest old rats I can find in this town. Terrible prices and lots o smoke
I’d rate it 0 if there was an option. By far the most hateful employees I’ve personally dealt with. More of a junk shop than a true pawn shop. We won’t be back.
Unfortunately, the situation changed with Wolf Pack that once a deal was made, it was then changed after the fact by the owner for every stipulation except the agreed upon amount, resulting in an expectation by them of the original payment but with absolutely nothing in return given the original agreement. I now understand the poor reviews of others regarding Wolf Pack Trading Company. Never business again. Ever.

This is my favorite store in all of Colorado. The owner is incredible and has helped us source some unbelievable vintage jewelry, hats, ski suits, hats and art work. 10/10 recommend.
My favorite store in B.V by far!! My passion is jewelery and s they have the most amazing selection of southwestern jewelry I’ve ever seen!!! Her prices rock!! All are very reasonable!!
Loooove this beautiful shop. My gorgeous leather backpack found here a year ago and this trip a gem of an antique leather turquoise wallet. Fun place. Affordable prices and great customer care
Friendly owner; smaller size shop in a nice location
Bought two rings that were supposedly turquoise. The shopkeeper talked me about the differences in stone size/design and which Native American tribes they likely came from. After spending over $100 on each ring and wearing them for the past few weeks the turquoise paint started chipping off of one of them! I don’t know the origin of the deception but definitely do a little scratch test if you can to determine whether the turquoise is genuine. Better yet, but directly from an Indigenous seller. Don’t make my same mistake.
Was greatly disappointed after visiting this shop as a local after buying an expensive ring only to have it stain my finger blue a day later from being cheap material. The rings may look beautiful but don’t be deceived. Will not be recommending this place to friends or family.

Such good coffee, we came here everyday for three days in a row. I plan on coming back I highly suggest a honey badger latte perfect for someone who wants a little spice with life.
Fantastic
Good coffee, good service.
Overall, I enjoyed it here.
To begin, coffee was pretty good. I had a regular coffee, which was lovely, and a chai latte. The chais were on the sweeter side, even the spicy one, which might be some people’s thing, but I wasn’t in love with it.
They have about 2 dozen syrup choices, so you can get anything you like. It was already very sweet, so I didn’t go for these, but that might be your thing.
The breakfast burrito was good. They don’t allow subtractions to it, so if you have a problem with onions you might need to find something else. The almond roll was heavenly.
Vibe was pretty good. It does fill up, so stake out your spot.
All in all, I would recommend it and return.
The food was great, the coffee excellent…That said not only do you have to pay 50 cents for a refill, but you have to stand in line to get one which quite destroys the entire experience. Seems like they could come up with a different method for dealing with issue.
Small coffee shop in a town this size, service should be way more friendly and inviting. Don’t know if they buy their syrups or make in house but my latte had a strange aftertaste. Lesson learned.
Weak coffee and poor choice of pastries
Not impressed. After all the hype, we stood in a long, very slow line for mediocre coffee, served by disengaged baristas. Coffee was watered down. My partner got a mocha that just tasted like syrup and I got what was supposed to be a cafe au lait. Both left a lot to be desired. I won’t return.
7. Book Nook
Address: 127 S San Juan Ave, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
I visit bookstores everywhere I travel, and I rarely find one with such charm and magic.
Owners have a passion for books. Children are welcomed and encouraged to explore and read. Super fun atmosphere. Excellent collection of older books. Pricing is competitive.
Cute book store plus a few games, fantastic hospitality. Dont pass it by, you’ll be coming back. I felt very welcoming roaming the various rooms of new and labeled books.
A cute little, quirky place. Picked up “Just Mercy” Bryan Stevenson for a good price
Cute little book store
Cute book store among other things.

We rented eBikes for a sight-seeing adventure around Buena Vista. It was one of our favorite activities of our trip! We took Rick’s recommendation to ride up N. Colorado Ave. to the Midland Tunnels and saw some awesome views of the Arkansas River and the Collegiate Peaks.
Being at a higher elevation than we’re used to, we were concerned about getting tired from biking. That wasn’t an issue on the eBikes! Had we known what a great time we were going to have, we would have rented the bikes for 3 hours instead of just 1.
Great customer service, awesome bikes and trail suggestions.
HAD A BLAST!!! Thanks for the bikes and definitely will be renting from you again!
Recreation-wise, riding a fat tire e-bike on the eastern mountain trails of Buena Vista, CO, was simply the most fun I have ever had! I’m a 60-something Ohio flatlander road bike enthusiast, and have never ridden a mountain bike. This was a great introduction, especially when adding 6,000 feet of elevation to the mix. My son and I cruised up the gravelly dirt slopes and had a grand time snaking our way through the rollers and twisting turns on the back trails, too. Hit 27 mph coming down the dirt roads. The only way to travel! Highly recommend it. Rick and Nancy Fox were gracious and informative hosts too.
Great equipment and service. Beautiful terrain to explore. We were pointed in the general direction of the trails but could have used more specific trail maps. We missed the single track trails we were looking for and stayed on the dirt roads.
We rented ebikes for the first time and we had a great time with our three teen boys going up to Cottonwood Lake. One of the bikes lost power about 1/2 way through the experience which made it tough. That same bike was also missing a screw on the frame and the cup holder fell off. I think that poor bike was done for . Other than that, we had a great time! Great family activity!
10. Station 24 Cafe
Address: 12867 US Hwy 24/285, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
Dido to all the “best breakfast burritos in town” reviews. It’s true I’ve had many different breakfast burritos in the valley and these are the best.
Great place to stop before or after hitting the pass.
Like another reviewer said, great coffee options, and it was a nice surprise to see oat milk! It’s a cute cafe with large indoor booth seating, spacious outdoor seating, and clean restrooms. The barista/cashier was friendly! I’d stop by again and try their breakfast burritos.
This is a sharp looking place. So I stopped in for a meal. But this place is a coffee joint. They have 3 types of cold sandwiches in a cooler do you dare to try them. They also have some cookies and brownies that looked good. It doesn’t hold up to the name CAFE we did try 1 of the sandwiches meadoker. I would not stop for food just coffees.
Cool retro themed cafe in the mountains of Buena vista with good coffee and sandwiches.
It was a quaint little cafe, but it was a bit pricey.
Great place to grab a cup of coffee if you want to pretend we aren’t a year into a pandemic. Many patrons without masks, no social distancing, just like the good old days. We turned around and left. Very disappointing.
The coffee was burnt to a crisp. The young lady at the counter did swap out my gfs drink for something else but there was no getting around the terrible taste.
Was told I needed to wear a mask. Which I explained I have a medical condition that I can not wear one. The girl told me it’s required by law. Which I replied no I don’t would you like to see my inhaler and before I could say and my Dr’s note stating that I can not wear a mask she insisted that it’s the law. Suggest you have her check with the health dept. Because people with medical conditions do not have to wear a mask and that is discrimination for a medical condition!
11. Jan’s Restaurant
Address: 304 US-24, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
The food was delicious! Very busy so took a minute to get service. I understand why this place always looks busy, very good food.
Parking: Not many handicap spots
Kid-friendliness: Kids loved their food choices
Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible
Very friendly staff and excellent food. A good pit stop if you are crossing over to aspen or vail
Burgers are top class and good pattie
Chicken parmesean crunchy and filling
Good breakfast good service
Great little old place. Great food, great staff and cute decor. Only problem was it took awhile to get our food. I would go back.
Good service tasty meal
Would rather eat somewhere else. Just average American cuisine. Many pies had cream in them, very few popular traditional pies like cherry or pecan. Also, seems like staff is stressed out from being understaffed.
. Tap beer was warm and cloudy (bud lite). Food was mediocre.
Extremely slow service for food that’s nothing special
Food wasn’t hot, this place is mediocre at best.
15$ a plate and worse than waffle house
What a place
12. The Lariat
Address: 206 E Main St, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
Stopped in for some drinks and live music after a long day adventuring. The drink service was a little slow, but otherwise this place was a very fun way to spend the evening!
Relaxed atmosphere decent food
No band the night we visited. Great service.
Drove 3 hours to see a show we had rsvp’d to and when we got there we were told they had over booked and could not allow us in. Even though we witnessed several groups after us get in.
We were coming here for a meet and greet for a wedding rehearsal and we got wrist bands on at the front door. They sent us around back to “our party” where we were told by a person left behind that they kicked our party out because they moved a band up in time. So we had to leave. The back patio was not even crowded. Ridiculous.
I want to start off by saying I nor my husband have ever been so rudely greeted. I will follow with the fact that we did come in at 8:55pm and apparently the kitchen closes at 9pm. The host/whoever sat us, literally grabbed menus and then rudely stated “well the kitchen closes in 4 min.” First of all I work in the service industry (therefore, I don’t know what restaurant especially in a small town just turns away money), second how am I or the person I am with to know that your kitchen closes at 9? That being said you close at 11pm so I assumed you served food until an 1hr before you close. To that end, we are from out of town and are unaware of when kitchens close. The person could have kindly explained that, instead of over the shoulder, rudely mentioning on the way to the table. We have had food here and it was decent but I will never recommend this establishment nor ever be back in again. Just doesn’t make any sense to me, we promptly left after realizing the person who also sat us was grabbing waters with attitude. I’m sorry we came in late again, we were unaware, but check your employee’s attitude because I would never treat patrons paying money in such a manner.

I called Broken Strings from Denmark (Scandinavia) and bought a guitar + accessories for my daughter in Colorado. My experience: Excellent customer service; helpful and professional guidance over the phone; quick replys on my emails; easy payment… all in all I felt very comfortable doing business with Broken Strings 🙂
I will use (and recommend) Broken Strings Guitars in the future for all my guitar needs in Salida, CO 🙂
Thomas Simonsen.
Great little shop in Salida. The proprietor is honest and forthcoming and has some real vintage gems in there. When there’s a 1964 Gibson SG hanging between an 1870s Martin & a 1950s uke you know you’re in the right place. Dude’s got taste and very fair pricing.
Fair pricing and decent selection. Owner is very straightforward and honest. Highly recommended.
Chris was very helpful and accommodating even if i was a day early for his shipment…
I drove over an hour and a half to salida to go this shop and nothing else. I got there, and they were closed at least two hours early. Better call before you go, apparently they don’t keep the hours they post.
15. The Cellar on Railroad
Address: 301 E Main St Unit 180, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
Fantastically curated selection of wines and amazing service in the heart of Colorado. Wonderful tapas and a great patio to enjoy an afternoon or evening. Treat yourself!!!
Great place
Such a great spot! The patio is adorable and cozy. Small plates are delicious! Definitely recommend the pesto! Lindsey was incredible, great service, great knowledge of wines, and even helped me with some snowshoeing trails. Wonderful service!!
Good for beer wine and cocktails . Tapas is pricey.
We were there on bottles and boards night. $40 for some nice sparkling wine and a cheese and fruit board was a decent value. However, the board was gone long before the bottle. So, we reasoned that the board should have had more on it.
Menu selections are way over priced for what you get. Would have preferred to see a better selection of wine.
Staff was extremely rude. Couldn’t be bothered to bus one of 5 open tables after keeping us waiting for 45 mins. Happy to spend money elsewhere.
Tacky woman with short blonde Karen hair cut EXTREMELY rude. TRY ANYWHERE ELSE IN BV
16. Deerhammer Distillery
Address: 321 E Main St, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
I highly recommend the smoked old fashioned and the Margarito. Don’t ask just drink. Get a bottle to take home as well.
Outstanding whiskey, food and service. Wife left her purse, but staff retrieved it for her. Some of the best burgers ever!!
Offerings and staff are amazing. Take the tour if you have time. Informative, fun and a great value. Ashley was super fun our group had a great time!
Small space, but enjoyed the whiskey. Have heard some good music and has a nice outdoor fireplace.
Great service and friendly staff but rot-gut whiskey
Great product and a beautiful patio.
If anyone wants an insight to the level of service they might receive if you voice an issue or concern (or want a good laugh) – take a look at the replies by the owner of the distillery for any reviews below 3 stars. I only looked at the reviews by chance after my last visit but it now explains a-lot, unfortunately.
I’ve only had drinks from here, but I’ve been here numerous of times and noticed each time the level of service is something to be desired. The staff is nice when you obviously pay for drinks but once you are in the main seating area outside, they are either ignoring you or giving you the side eye the entire time. I also don’t understand for a small batch distillery why they make premade drinks and charge $15 + tip? I go back each time trying to give it another chance but with my last visit and seeing the “interesting” replies by the owner, I will not be back or recommend this place to anyone visiting BV.
Love their single malt whiskey. The service was good also. However, as a tourist, I traveled far to get here. They had no merchandise, which was upsetting to say the least. Also, a bottle came out to be $59. I can get the same bottle for $53 in the city. That doesn’t seem right.
The Wisconsin old fashioned is nowhere near a Wisconsin old fashioned. It did at least have muddled fruit but there is no way to call it a Wisconsin old fashioned if you do not give the consumer the option to have sweet or sour. Wisconsin isn’t ruined by pretentious hipsters, so please don’t disgrace the best state in the Union with a drink that isn’t worth 8 dollars.
17. Cool River Cafe – Buena Vista
Address: 505 E Main St #110, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
I am so impressed with the comfortable factor. I love the atmosphere, and Coa remembers my name every time I walk in. So inviting! They have several plant-base options that are delicious! I highly recommend it!
Tried this place for the very first time for breakfast. Quite a line out the door on a Saturday morning. Line moved very slow, seating was challenging, and the wait for the food was long. The food was excellent though as was the coffee. I would like to come back and try when it isn’t so busy though.
The food is really good here. The drinks were also really good. Only complaints that bring it down to a 4 star is that it is pretty cramped and hard to sit with little ones and the price of some of the items seemed a little high. Overall, I did enjoy it and we would come back!
Arrived around 8:30 on a slow Monday morning. Took 30 minutes for our three breakfast sandwiches. Sandwiched were sparse and appeared to be made with microwaved scrambled eggs. Very disappointing after spending over $50 on three breakfast sandwiches and 2 coffees.
The place looks nice and the staff is (mostly) nice, save the sassy server in stretchy pants.
If you are actually hungry, or have places to be, this may not be the dining experience for you.
Two patrons next to me waited 30+ mins for a bagel with cream cheese.
When I asked to cancel my order, I was told it had only been 25 mins and it was my fault for coming in during peak season.
This is an establishment that I will not be returning to in any season.
Rude worker ruined a great experience. Better coffee shop down the street.
Leave this place to the tourists who don’t know any better. I’ve been here twice now and both times were very disappointed in the food. For $15, I received precooked, off-color chicken in a wrap. When I got a breakfast burrito, either the eggs weren’t real or they were cooked in a microwave. It’s such a shame that the food is so expensive and yet low quality. As a local, I will not be returning.
18. House Rock Kitchen
Address: 421 E Main St, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
House Rock is incredible. Their house bowls are amazing. We come here every time we are passing through Buena. Great to have a kombucha selection too, and nice outdoor patio
Good food. Slightly expensive.
Num num num
Good food, but good luck ordering with a dog unless you have a partner ( can’t sit until you order). We walked up and saw tons of dogs on the patio when we went inside to go order we were met with a very very rude manager. Dogs are not allowed unless they are service (which is fine) but my girlfriend and I could have been made aware in a nice way rather than being pushed out (literally) onto the patio. Other staff was very friendly and kind, would recommend new management next time.
Terrible hosting system. Smaller parties take priority over a larger family. They blame it on the COVID-19 rules but they don’t use a wait list.
They had room for 5 but refused to to put a 6 on a wait.
Turkey was tasteless and hard to swallow. Gorgonzola salad dressing was merely gorgonzola crumbles and mayonnaise. Barbecue sauce was ketchup! Line kitchen was filthy. Service personnel had no personality and had no seeming desire to give good service. Restaurant was out of items and it was not posted. After years of hit and miss this was the last try. The experience was terrible and a waste of $40 for 2 people.
Owner was completely disrespectful to my kids and family that sat on the patio while I ordered food. I was ordering and they went and sat down. He rudely told them that they couldn’t save seats. They also had to hold the dogs that were not allowed inside. Not family friendly, not dog friendly, and can not handle being too busy. Owner was so rude.
19. Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce
Address: 111 E Main St, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
John and Heather are Very Friendly and have Good Information About the town.
Great people
Never returned voicemail.
Reached out several times to the BV Chamber, explained over the phone the assistance our new endeavor needed to attract business to the BV area, and never received a return phone call or email back. Really sad that no response was elicited. What good is a chamber when the director cannot be bothered to respond to inquiries beneficial to the community?
20. The Inn
Address: 107 N Railroad St, Buena Vista, CO 81211 , Buena Vista , Colorado , United States
I stayed here in 2022. The room was gorgeous with a view and the location was perfect.
A gem in Buena Vista. Gorgeous, unique Hotel boutique in Buena Vista. Spacious room with lots of classy details and very comfortable beds. I highly recommend this hotel! Excellent location too.
Great communication with the manager and supper helpful too.
We stayed with my husband and our 3-7 daughters and we were very happy with the room.
Beautiful room. Needs help with accuracy & hospitality.
The Inn’s interior design is breathtaking and the bed was very comfortable. The location is in the heart of historic downtown Buena Vista. As some guests mentioned, you can hear other guests and the restaurant below. That wasn’t a big deal for us since we aren’t light sleepers.
I was disappointed that the room did not have the advertised view of the mountains. From the website, the Main Street King has “2 large windows overlooking Mt. Princeton.” There was no mountain view. The view was only of the street below.
When we brought it to the Inn’s attention, they apologized for the inconvenience, but didn’t do anything to make it up to us. They also didn’t confirm they would be making sure the website was updated, and as of today, it still hasn’t been updated.
Hopefully this review will help others know that the Main Street King does not have a mountain view, as well as to provide feedback to the Inn about an area for improvement. I travel a lot and am not used to a premium Inn/hotel not going out of their way to make up for their mistakes. I do wish this Inn much success, as it has a lot of good going for it!
This room is gorgeous! The location is great being feet from Main Street. I was going to give it 5 stars till around 7pm. We were exhausted from a long day exploring but were met with all the sounds from the bar below us. We tried a sound machine app but my phone wasn’t loud enough for the other people to hear in the other bed. You can tell they sent so much money redoing this building. It would have been smart to sound proof the floors and walls. We can also hear our neighbor room very well. Sleep was not had till almost midnight when the bar started shutting down. The room is wonderful but needs some kind of sound cutting like a sound machine or a stand up fan. If you are a light sleeper come prepared!
Gorgeous rooms, but so so loud. The rooms are beautiful, a really great job was put into the interior design and finishes.
Our only complaint is the noise from the restaurant below. The majority of the noise came later in the evening when the restaurant was closing. From about 10:30pm on, I could hear the kitchen staff listening to music, yelling at Alexa to change the song, the clanging of pans, and all of their conversations. It sounded like they were inside the bathroom in our suite or in the hallway outside our room- it was so loud and really detracts from the enjoyment of your stay.
In the fall there was ample parking just adjacent to the inn in what appears to be a public lot. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
Note there is also no on staff support at the hotel. Everything is managed via text and you are provided door codes to access the building and your room. It works very well.
The inn also doesn’t appear to be ADA accessible. Perhaps there was an elevator we never could find, but you will have to carry bags and everything up one flight of stairs to the second floor to access most of the inn.
Walkability: Many restaurants and coffee shops nearby in the downtown.
beautiful space. well appointed comfortable room.
be warned though.
the loudest hotel ever!!!! 10:30 and i feel like i’m actually in the kitchen of the restaurant down stair!!!! music blaring lots and pans and pots slamming, people yelling and screaming!!
i wanted a nice room before a 4 day bike tour and i get this horrible experience. should have save my cash and stayed at the super 8 at least it would be restful. nice room but useless trying to sleep here! stay else where!! AND IT STARTS UP AGAIN AT 6 AM!!! this is a obvious problem yet it’s still seems to be neglected. then the owner plays a guilt trip about how leaving bad reviews hurts a family business. and told me i was smearing his rep. read all the reviews. it’s fact not smearing. this was after i went back and gave him 3 stars instead of one. the told me he contacted google to have it removed. a hotel is for sleeping. bring ear plugs.
Noteworthy details: So Loud!!!! at 10:30pm!!!! not restful waste of money!!!!!
If you want peace and quiet in BV, this may not be your place. The street noise is not the issue, it’s either the pizza place below or the bar across the street. Honestly we couldn’t tell where the music was coming from, but it kept us up until 5am. The walls here are also paper thin. Not only could I make out songs being played, I could hear my neighbors entire conversations in the room next to us, which was unfortunately the wall the headboard is attached to. Worse than some cheap motels I’ve stayed in. Likely due to the building’s age.
The rooms are gorgeous. The location is great, as everything is walkable, but if you’re looking for a quiet night away, this may not be it. Very disappointed 🙁
Do not stay here if you have early plans the next morning. The bar downstairs is very loud
