❤️ I visited Art’s Music Shop for the first time last week, and I was very impressed with the professionalism of those who worked there and the great selection of instruments and music! Kayci Greer was very helpful and knowledgeable about my flute that needed repair! Their prices are also wonderful! Their dedication to excellence is inspiring!
I’ve used arts throughout school and they are great!
Everyone was not only friendly and helpful but extremely knowledgeable too! The person who helped me had a degree in music! (So much more than just a sales clerk.)
Attended a Breedlove Guitar Showcase. Art’s Music Shop in-store acoustic guitar lineup includes Breedlove, Michael Kelly, and Yamaha.
Big
Wonderful customer service
Was in there for 20 minutes with my kid and wasn’t even acknowledged. Tried to get their attention but employees were in a rather long discussion with each other. We are now at Bailey Brothers which is a block away so we can purchase a bass guitar for my son. Customer service actually exists at Bailey Brothers. It does not at Art’s. Such a disappointment. We had heard good things about them.
I spent $3500 on a saxophone here and when I tried to sell it back they offered me $150 even though it was in good condition just an fyi
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT rent instruments from here. All they want is your $$$. I can’t begin to tell you what a nightmare it had been renting our child’s instrument from them this year for school. I wish I could give negative stars. The breaking point was last week when we returned the instrument but was charged another $90 for the month of June. ITS NOT JUNE yet!!!!!!
Schools have no business partnering with companies like this!

They say “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” but Samantha is proving them wrong! I am a lifelong musician, a chorist, soloist, guitar player, and a songwriter. But in spite of all this music, I have never had music lessons and have always wanted to be able to REALLY read music, not just “follow along” forever as I had done all my life. Samantha accepted the challenge! In spite of our distance (we live four hours apart), we have weekly classes via Facetime, and it is fantastic!! My first goal of being able to name and identify all the notations on sheet music has been met, and now I am able to play basic melodies on my keyboard. I still have a long way to go, but I appreciate the patience and humor Samantha brings to each class, encouraging me to keep going. Thank you SO MUCH Samantha for helping me advance my music in such a profound and practical way!!
We have taken piano lessons with Ms Samantha for about a year and couldn’t be more pleased. She is an exceptional teacher! She is so patient, kind and personable and my daughter warmed up to her immediately. It’s evident that she deeply cares for her students and loves what she does because of how much care she invests in her students. She is a treasure!
Sam is such a patient and kind teacher. She loves kids and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to teach their kids to play an instrument.
My son has taken guitar lessons at Mason for about 7 years, & my daughter piano for about 3. I can’t say enough good things!
Me and my family had a great experience at Mason Music! The instructors are always so nice and welcoming and very helpful. I especially want to thank Anna Lynn for her great attitude and kindness towards my daughter. She always looks forward to seeing her. Highly recommend this place!
I have absolutely loved taking lessons through Mason Music. I was worried that it would be weird to take lessons as an adult, but it is a wonderful environment and the staff go above and beyond!
6. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Cahaba Heights , Alabama , United States
I stopped in just to check the place out. It was the third music store I’d been in and I was disappointed in the first two. I was pleasantly surprised with Bailey Brothers. The staff was friendly but didn’t pressure me to buy anything. He asked me a few questions about what I was interested in and made a recommendation. I ended up buying something I did want and
I will definitely be back.
Hands down my favorite store in the Birmingham area. Great staff, and good selection.
Bailey Brothers is one very well-staffed and well-stocked retail music store. The staff is knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. From beginner to professional instruments of the highest quality, they have perhaps the most thoughtful selection in Birmingham. Also for many years they are who I have chosen to service my guitars.
This place is awesome, need customer service? DONE! Need a repair? DONE! Need to place an order? DONE! The only thing I did not like was the lack of extended range instruments. You will not be finding fanned fret, 28 fret, tap guitar, etc. You want those go to WARR guitars or order them off of a musicians website.
Great customer service. Great selection. However, I was NOT thrilled to see their logo custom printed onto the snare head I bought. Would have received 5 stars if not for that. Going to remove it with some acetone.
Helpful and kind! Will be back to see them soon.
manager and owner very racist!
Don’t answer the phone
I explained to them thoroughly what I needed and they sold me the opposite! It all about sells and f**k the customers needs! Stay away from the southside location!

These guys are knowledgeable of just about any older, “classic” gear. There’s a bit of anything you might want and their stock is always changing. A cool place to check out!
Cool interesting staff. Sounded like they have played many gigs thru the years
Bought a guita there yeRs ago. Just visiting the store ‘off Highland’ for the first time. Nice array of guitars !
Vibey little shop. Some cool vintage gear.
Got a good deal on a used Vox guitar amp. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I fully intend to return.
Pretty darn rude staff, including the owner, Don. After 40 years in business I guess they’ve earned the right, though.
Won’t ever visit again! No greetings, no nothing. I was in the store about ten minutes and no one ever acknowledge it. I was referred to this place by the guy in Homewood music shop but he could’ve saved the breath he use cause nothing was worth driving to this store for!!
you’ll be surprised just how much this store has to offer, and they always know exactly where items are. love this place, and its NOT getting on 280.
Buena atención
Great service!
I like this place and the people who work here. It’s nice to know mom and pop stores like this can still exist in the age of huge box hardware stores. I shop here and so should you.
A little high $, hopefully they can get my money refunded and will give 5 stars
They probably have it. Lots of staff, not so much parking. Tradesmen mixed with civilians. They have trucks for delivering sand/stone etc. Give that a try instead of putting a million bags in your vehicle at Lowes, then needing 6 times more.
Ok tool selection not great for hardware store
Order more pinestraw been there 10 times and their always “sold out “. Was there at 9 am and plenty on the trailer but said already spoken for. Not very good business

Did a wonderful job on repairing my trumpet. Highly recommended.
Very helpful friendly staff. We have 3 children that play 3 different instruments they have everything we have needed.
Had the clairanet thumb guard pillow we were looking for
Fantastic friendly service at a reasonable price
Overall good store, but lacking in some instrument accessories.
I was easily able to drop off my trumpet for repair.
I have an account with this company and when I arrived to drop off an instrument, I was immediately told
“Do you have a repair? Can you leave it at least a month? We’re that backed up and that’s just the way it is.” I have no problem with businesses having business but I do have a problem with being a loyal customer and being spoken to so rudely. I will not be returning for any new future transactions. What an unfortunate example of bad customer service.
I would give this Gadsden music store no stars if it was allowed. The store representative, Jason Duren, had a bad attitude and was not helpful. He did not want to hand me my receipt and when I said something about it he told me I had an attitude. Jason must have a problem with women or it maybe people of color in general. Don’t waste your time here!! Fine a real music store who welcomes paying customers.
Had what I needed but staff was very unhelpful I asked for help and it was not given to me so I had to struggle to find what I needed

Bob, the owner, is amazing. He knows guitars and is an expert player. Some very interesting vintage guitars for sale as well.
Bob runs a great shop that is centered around the customer and the instruments (in that order). Though he is busy about rebuilding or retooling and instrument he never allows his responsibility to distract from the customer. And once you by an instrument from him you are in the club and community that he has built in and around the store.
Take your instruments to Jason Burns at Homewood Music. I brought in a 25 year old Martin D-15 that needed some love and he made it play like it was fresh off the factory line. Incredible craftsmanship.
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
Chad was FANTASTIC for my daughter’s school dance! He provided a great mix of songs and made it super fun the whole night. Highly recommend!
What an awesome DJ played both our wedding and our in town reception played all the right songs
Chad Alexander Productions was the best decision I made in planning my wedding. His team works well to make sure your event is catered direct to you. I don’t know a lot about music but I did know I never wanted to stop dancing. Chad and his team made that possible. I still have people raving about all the nonstop fun that was had! 10/10 recommend.

Love Mason Music. They have matched my son up with great teachers!
Best music studio ever!!!
We’ve been taking lessons at the Bluff Park location and I can’t say how impressed I am with our teacher, Chadwick. He has really taken time to find out what motivates my son. The staff has also been wonderful to work with if there’s ever a rescheduling issue or any other concern.
19. Fretted Instruments
Address: 2906 Linden Ave, Birmingham, AL 35209 , Cahaba Heights , Alabama , United States
simply the best… most knowledgeable and highest quality fretted instruments…guitars, banjos, mandolins, and more
The most honest and helpful folks for new players. I remember getting six strings for the little money I had. Sometimes it was two for one Monday or Wednesday or Tuesday. I recently bought several used guitars from Cobb County, GA. I planned on selling them to make a few bucks. I wound up giving them all away to young people who just wanted to play.
