Adorable lunch spot! Other lunch spots around had long waits but Sam’s is off the main road and was super quiet. We really enjoyed the sandwiches, the bread was delicious. There’s a full general store with snacks, coffee, drinks and wine. They have very cute and quaint outdoor seating (even have fire pits!) and really nice historic architecture. Would highly recommend
I had the best mocha there today. The perfect combination of a really flavorful dark-roast coffee, a good tasty chocolate, and just the right amount of sweetness. Yum!
An ADORABLE local find. I wish I would have found this sooner. Although the online menu didn’t list them, there was 5 customs lattes. Highly recommend the pumpkin spice, but there is also s’mores and honey cbd. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outside there was a fire pit with 6 chairs around. Food service was fast and friendly.
Nice looking place, but mediocre coffee and poor service
Great coffee, lattes, etc. Fresh pastries daily. Very cute place. There is plenty of room for friends, family, or even a date. They even sell wine! Pretty cook hidden gem! We will be back.
Lovely shady spot for lunch.
Beautiful setting, decent coffee, consistently rude/socially awkward folks working the front. Most recent experience we had the barista, older, heavy set fella who’s rocking a beard slammed my girl’s drink on the counter after adding a sassy, disingenuous “have a great day”. Caught em as they were closing so I’m assuming that’s where the attitude was coming from. But my lady was all smiles and greeted everyone and I even tipped these folks that seemed to be miserable with the idea of doing what they get paid to do. We come here all the time, even racked up a free coffee but I didn’t want to order it because I could sense the stale attitude in the place. Don’t really have many options out here in Calistoga, and unfortunately my lady likes the coffee here, but if it was up to me, I’d redeem my points and never come back. Buy your coffee somewhere else and sit down in their seating area, that’s the only decent thing about this place after this experience.
Really yummy stuff but the service is SO SLOW. If you aren’t in a hurry I would go here but if you like your coffee made fast, or under 10 minutes, definitely just hit up the Roastery instead.
Today I was truly disappointed at my order. I order two large vanilla oat milk lattes and I received what seemed like a cappuccino, more foam than anything. If I’m paying for a large latte, I expect a latte, like we usually receive, it just didn’t happen today 🙁
2. Copperfield’s Books
Address: 1330 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
We are so fortunate to have this great bookstore in town!
Just what a bookstore should be – so many exciting, thought-provoking, interesting, and entertaining titles. And many other whimsical, helpful, and delightful things to admire and choose from. A thoroughly enjoyable store to dream in and buy from!
I love this bookstore – it’s one more reason to visit Calistoga. There’s something for everyone here.
I liked the book store. Staff was very pleasant to interact with. The cost of the items are on the higher side.
Under New Ownership, and whole new staff,,Was pleasantly surprised today, It used to be one of my favorite places for years,,, but lost orders and no follow up caused me to go else where, But new owner Hillary fixed a lost order, and made it right. she was helpful and pleasant, and sincere. So happy to see ” Good ” customer service return. Will definitely be returning.
Nice book store.
They did not know if they could take samsung pay. They did and it charged me $37 for someone else’s order then it took 5 minutes for a refund
Some of the previous reviewers said that this store caters to everyone. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. The agenda is unmistakable – which of course would have been fine if it were some specialized bookstore that you need to look for to satisfy your personal interests. This one is right there in a very central location, and is also meant to be child-friendly. Regardless of my or anyone else’s political views, can people still have some respect for their fellow citizens who happen to think differently? Apparently not. So much for tolerance.
The women came up and locked the doors in my children faces at 10am when they are suppose to be open. They have always been so good here but this is a complete bummer. I’ve never had an employee be so rude.

Adorable shop-great selection and the gentleman working on 7/31/20 was most kind and friendly. I would gladly like to come back someday…
Excellent, many unique items ,and very fair prices .The gentleman (owner) was very kind and helpful. Enjoyed the quaint town. We plan to go back soon and pick up a few more things . Also ;thanks for the insight on our next adventure.
Nicely curated selection.
4. Rags to Riches
Address: 1125 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Great store— lot of unique inventory that moves very quick— Gary is the owner and he sources a ton of things from a random assortment of places. Great guy, great store!
Visited this shop and the owner introduced me to vintage game, skittle bowling. Very friendly staff and and some unique gems. Would definitely visit again!
We loved the record room. Good vibes, and the owner was super nice!
5. Picayune Cellars & Mercantile
Address: 1440 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
if all the meals are like the trip-tip melt, (currently number 19) in the menu, it’s a highly recommended experience. imagine great roast beef with great cheese in a hot, but crusty bread. just incredible tasting. the real downside is that on low season, while the closing time is advertised at 6pm, they do tend to close at 5:30, bad if you are really starving from a day at the road.
Shopping + Great Wine = 5 stars (obvi)
Good music and good wine… love it
Nice shop with small wine tasting of small batch good wines.
Very nice wines with knowledgeable staff.
6. Tank Garage Winery
Address: 1020 Foothill Blvd, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
my husband and I had the most enjoyable time at tank garage! Conary played a huge role in this as he made our wine tasting extra fun + memorable. it’s always nice to be served by like minded individuals who share a deep appreciation for wine + it’s super obvious the team at Tank has that. We will def be back for more.
We had such a great afternoon at Tank with Heath! We wound up upgrading from the Calistoga passport tasting to try more wines.
The winery has a fun vibe / aesthetic and their approach to wine making is also really unique. By far one of the friendliest tastings we’ve done in Napa Valley. Thanks again, we can’t wait to come back!
These wines are so great and their labels are always SUPER cool! I have a really hard time getting rid of the bottles after I finish them, in fact I haven’t yet. The people who work there are really sweet as well! 10/10 recommend! It’s a really nice, well thought out wine tasting experience, both in person and virtually.
Nice setting outside with canopy. Friendly staff
Can not wait until Covid is over and can use the inside.
Interesting wine tasting room located in a converted 1930s auto repair shop. Bottles, labels & wine are produced once & when sold are not repeated again. They recommend to keep your empty bottle with label because you’ll never see it again. Clever marketing tool to draw customers. Will not comment on the so-so wines.
Fun, different than any other wine stop in Napa Valley, host Jacey was great!
Showed up at 415 pm, they close at 6 pm, was told it’s “too late for a tasting.” Opted for a glass. Sat down and the couple behind us started their tasting 10 minutes after we were there?! My “glass” was 3, maybe 4 ounces for $15 dollars. Napa is over rated, come to Washington where we have better wines for reasonable prices and pours.
The worst. Never been treated so poorly in a wine tasting room. No idea what these people are doing. Not a real tasting room
Thought for sure that the bottle itself would be more professional looking but when we took it out of the styrofoam, the 1st thing my wife said was look at how the film strip wrapped on the bottle was all creased and wrinkled from not being put on right. Air bubbles under the film strip and the corners coming off. We wanted to actually buy a case and give them as gifts, but not now. Appearance is a key presentation and a window to a quality product. Visual presentation is everything. I run two large industrial facilities in Texas and Pennsylvania and if my guys sent product out with this flawed visual presentation, I wouldn’t be happy. Very disappointed and I haven’t even tasted the wine yet.
7. La Palmeraie Lounge
Address: 1712 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Delicious pastries, great coffee, amazing music selection. Total vibe
Fantastic live music and great drinks! Really enjoyed hanging out here to beat the heat
The smoked salmon croissants are out of this world. Delicious start to the morning paired with wonderful coffee. I will be back.
Atmosphere and service is great but wow this is the worst cold brew I’ve ever had! It’s like tea, it’s so weak and watered down. I hardly leave Google reviews but wanted to save others the $7 disappointment. I’ve been told Sam’s general store has better coffee.
8. Studio Kokomo
Address: 1421 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Everything about this place is exactly what you want for local music needs. Seriously. They can restring your now classic guitar and teach your mom ukulele. It’s right downtown by other cool places.
My son’s euphonium had been dropped and the bell was bent. I don’t live in Santa Rosa and was expecting to have to make a second trip to pick it up, but when they found out I was from out of town they offered to fix it that day. Two hours later I returned to a beautiful repair and a less costly than anticipated bill! Thank you!
I needed a hardcase for my electric guitar. I forgot my mask they had one so no need to go back to the car. I told them what was needed they helped instantly. The place is super clean too. I wish this store was in Petaluma. Petaluma needs a music store. Thank you Stanroy!
Great customer service
The folks in the repair shop are great. Always reasonable when setting expectations.
Helpful service people, variety of instruments and lessons, parking lot a nightmare
Pour services
Took my vinyage 70’s modified stratocaster to be flipped from a righty to a lefty and they didnt even flip the nut they just used some glue to raise the strings to make them fit. Seemed like they didnt care about doing a good job or doing the job right just to get it done as fast as possible and collect there money. Dissapointed because i always try to help local business over corporate monsters like bananas but even at bananas i feel like the staff is more attentive. If your a high class snob this might be your perfect fit.
Muchos instrumentos musicales hechas en China .
10. Bananas At Large
Address: 531 College Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Calistoga , California , United States
Amazing I was in and out of their so quick and staff was so so helpful and awesome and kind
If they don’t have it you don’t need it!
A music store for keyboards and mostly strings. Electric!!!
Siempre compro lo que necesitó ahí
Great guitars!!
I would like this place better if they didn’t try to upsell me super expensive guitars. I mean honestly I don’t know how this place is in business with these prices during covid. You would think they were for the people.
Theyre called Bananas at large cuz it’s robbery and they’re basically criminals at large. Decent selction at outrageous prices.
11. Clos Pegase Winery & Tasting Room
Address: 1060 Dunaweal Ln, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
The grounds are beautiful. The wines are also quite good. Our server was delightful.
Susan gave my mom and I a wonderful tour of the winery and caves providing so much history and information. I learned so much about not only the history of clos pegase wines but the history of wine itself. The 2 hour experience was extremely enjoyable and the grounds were gorgeous.
Absolutely fabulous wine cave tour! Get to see facilities and food pairings with their top wines in their wine caves. One of the best tastings in Upper Napa. Known for their cabs and Pinot Noir, but they have a buttery Chardonnay to die for. Been a wine club member for 3 years. A must tour if you visit Calistoga and want to see the workings of wine country.
Amazing building and venue, excellent history and wine knowledge from our sever Irvan, one star short from 5 for a selection of wine that was slightly below my expectations. Go for a tasting, you may like it!
Always a good time my daughter joined the wine club
The wine was great, location was beautiful.
This was my first time in Napa and I would have to say this was the first and only winery that disappointed my husband and I during our honeymoon. Our travel agent set us up with a “picnic”. When we arrived they basically handed us a bag with two sandwiches from Oakville grocery which we actually had gone to the day before. We were charged $75 for the two sandwiches and just to sit on the premise. The day before the sandwiches were about $11 dollars if you actually go to Oakville Grocery. When we were greeted we really weren’t explained what was going on and just asked what bottle of wine we wanted to purchase with our sandwiches. Overall this was a waste of money and the time was not great here. The grounds are beautiful but we had better experiences at all other wineries we visited. My thoughts are if you have two people coming in for this so called picnic invite them to a tasting before they eat to see what wines they would be interested to purchase.
The grounds and tasting room were very airy and open. We were there in the middle of the day on a nice weekend and there were only a couple other groups walking around. I wasn’t a fan of the wines or the experience.
Visited during our Trolley Tour, as I can say I did not try their wine, my friends said their favorite was the Cab from the tasting. The atmosphere overall felt very grey… not that “Napa” feel. Was told there was a lot of art collected by the owners but we didn’t see much.
Corn hole was a nice touch!
12. Susie’s Bar
Address: 1365 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Susies has bern the local watering hole for many many years. The entire staff is super friendly, & know all the lovsk spots for food. All of the bartenders r very good at their jobs & make exceptional drinks
Great hideout
Solid local dive
Always a must stop when in Calistoga
Nice bar with a friendly staff. Looking to head back when I’m around that town again.
Dive bar!!
Mal no te dejan entrar si eres mexicano mi primo viene de turista trae su pasaporte no lo dejaron entrar solo aceptan documentos de USA y la licencia de.califormia
I was visiting with my family for my 40th birthday. We were having a good time at Susies Bar when all of a sudden the owner starts yelling at patrons, turns off the music and turns on the lights. He tells everyone to get the F out of his bar. So stupid. He closed his bar and thru money away. Not sure why it was closed early. Someone made him mad and the owner ened ended up taking it out on the entire crowd
I’m writing this in response to Steven D’s 1 star rating of James Davis, piano tuner. James Davis and I have know each other since 1974, when I started learning piano tuning under his tutelage. Judging a tuner’s quality of work is very subjective. Having heard 1000’s of pianos James has tuned, I can unequivocally say he is an excellent tuner with over 60 years experience.
James is correct that one can’t please everyone he tunes for, for various reasons, probably more imagined and some real.
Please note, the piano owner did like the tuning until the reviewer thought otherwise. If she had a problem, while he was there she should have said something. Simple as that. He would have addressed her concerns at that time.
Furthermore, a statement like “Have a good life” is just that. He considered the conversation over, and that he will probably never tune that piano again. I consider this a polite way to end the phone call.
Most importantly, to infer that James was saying “F-you” to Steven D, is totally out of character. This was Steven D’s interpretation, and his alone. James is one of the most honest and moral people I’ve ever known.
Just a footnote-it’s my understanding that James offered to reimburse the $160 charged for the tuning, and Steven declined to accept this. Instead he decided to ascribe a 1 star rating to his work, and disparage Jame’s character. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But his review shows more about Steven’s character than James Davis’.
Great service
Jim’s tuning is just what I want and need. I rebuilt pianos for about 50 years in Pennsylvania, and kept my 4 best…Including a Steinway “D”( 9 ‘6″”) a Steinway”B” (7’6 Both of these inlayed art-case Duo-Art, thus the extra 6″ on each. The “D” is one of only 10 ever made, the “B” is one of only one made, and a third is also an only one. Needless to say, I don’t trust these pianos to just any tuner, Jim is perfect for my needs.
I just moved into a senior park and got acquainted with a wonderful lady across the street and after a few minutes of conversation we discovered we had a lot in common…mainly music… and we both play piano. She then said I should come by and play it sometime…but warning me it was out of tune. I did stop by soon after that and saw and played her piano and yes…it was in bad need of a tuning. I thought it would be a nice gesture if hired a tuner to do the job as a thanks for being so welcoming to the park. After a few calls I contacted James to do the job. We made the arrangements and he performed his “so called” tuning. Just a little back round of myself…I have been a musician all my life and have four albums to my credit. I play all the instruments myself and although I don’t consider myself a virtuoso on piano, I do have a very good ear. I my past I worked for a music store in San Jose refurbishing and restoring pianos, and on occasion I have tuned a few. I just chose not to do that for a living. Long story short…I played my neighbors piano after James tuned it and I was so disappointed as was my neighbor that I was compelled to call James to at least express my disappointment. He said he played the piano for her and asked if it was okay and she said it was fine. But now I know that she just didn’t want to cause any confrontation over the poor job performed by James. After I confronted James over this poor job his final comment to me was that he cannot please everyone and that I should “Have a good Life”! Under the circumstances everyone know that statement really means “F-You”. So if you want to pay good money $160.00 to have your piano magically “NOT Tuned”, then by all means call James…he’ll “Good Life” you too!
15. Loveland Violin Shop
Address: 618 4th St #207, Santa Rosa, CA 95404 , Calistoga , California , United States
My wife had a performance scheduled for Sunday, so naturally her bow died on Saturday about noon. We called Loveland and rushed down to see if they could help. Julian was very helpful and said he would take a look and see if he could do anything. Unfortunately the bow expert was only available on Friday and Tuesday but they had a reasonably priced backup so all is good. They have a beautiful selection of instruments and are very knowledgeable. As newcomers to Santa Rosa, we’ve found our go to place for stringed instruments.
Truly good quality instruments and repairs done by experienced personnel.
Very nice people!!!!!!
Left 130 year old violin for repair.
Muy vien
Diferentes y variados sabores de pizzas
What turned out to be a truly horrible expirence!!
Two years ago we purchased a violin here for our daughter. At the time we paid 3500 for the violin. Since that time my daughter has switched to a different instrument so we decided to sell the violin. Upon contacting several other shops they let us know the we had grossly over paid and had been ripped off. What was sold to us as a 3500.00 violin, turns out to be worth roughly 500.00. We have now had several shops tell us how horrible they feel in knowing a violin shop would sell items so dishonestly. Very disappointed. Will be reporting them to the B.B.B.
I recently decided to take up the violin, a friend gave me his old one and I took it to Loveland to have it checked out. I was immediately given the hard sell about how I should replace this “piece of junk” with a new $450 violin from Loveland, with custom this and special that, they hand cut the bridge for every violin! I felt like I was being sold a car by a smarmy dealer. I decided to rent a violin instead from another local company.
Eselente y buenos
16. Calistoga Wine Way Inn
Address: 1019 Foothill Blvd, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Loved it. Clean, friendly, good atmosphere. Excellent breakfast
First off, BOOK DIRECT! The hosts have the ability to book direct and it is usually discounted over booking sites. Checkin was simple and contactless if needed. The B&B was a rustic craftsman well updated for the use as a B&B. Each room has a private bathroom with shower, new towels with soap, shampoo and hand sanitizer. There were leather mission style chairs and couches in the common area for relaxing inside. Outside on the back decks were many separate area for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine while the sun goes down. The downtown wine and restaurant district is an easy walk from the room. Over all it was an exceptional stay and look forward to staying here again.
I stayed at the Wine Way Inn while attending a friend’s wedding. I was in the spacious Silverado king suite. Nick was a great host and provided an amazing breakfast every morning. The breakfast baked beans were awesome with perfectly poached eggs! I’m vegetarian and Nick accommodated with a veggie option for me every day. Rooms were immaculate and the jacuzzi tub was so relaxing! I can’t wait to come visit again soon!
This is a great place that is missing a few details, the room was warm and we did not have a fan. We were in the Napa room, which faced the street- only an issue if we opened the window. Other than that everything was excellent and we will be back! The Champaign package was from Mumm, the hotel is a few doors down from BBQ and across the street from a nice little tasting room.
Great hospitality. Would recommend!
Stayed in one of the “premium” room, “Lokoya”. The inn was really nice and characteristic. The room itself was clean and in good condition (it also had a big TV unlike the smaller rooms) and had a wonderful bathroom. Breakfast was also on the better side, with some fairly special things in the buffé (all of it was delicious). Location-wise it’s just around the corner from the main street, so walking there took only a minute or two. The only thing I don’t fully understand is how the inn’s can be so pricy in a small little village like this, I would have expected them to be half the price (if you look at what you get for your money). But oh well, I suppose they are simply trying to cater to a wealthier crowd.
17. Calistoga Chamber of Commerce
Address: 1457 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515 , Calistoga , California , United States
Good and less expensive than the Italian place across the street. Their signature burger was in fact tasty, but it was really more so the toppings than the patty. Fries too were good, but they went cold almost instantly, which definitely loses them respect. Extensive beer wine and whiskey list.
Good food, good beer selection.
Very good food. Excellent burgers. Not too noisy. Cozy
Food is just ok. It’s not bad, but just ok. Portions or very small for the price. We literally paid $4 to add 4, yes 4, onion rings to our hamburger order. Onion rings???!! Ravioli, $2 per ravioli. Pretty sure they were from Costco. This was lunch, but maybe dinner is more generous, but I doubt it. In short, if you are hungry, don’t come here.
What happened, this used to be a good place. It seems like they let everything go. The place has an old musty smell now, the food went downhill and service seemed very average.
The absolute worst experience. Even talked to the owner. It was so bad. Service was bad food was bad. Sent it back and had a great dinner else where
20. Wine Country Entertainment – Musician Booking Agency
We had the violin and piano duo for our wedding ceremony at St
Helena Catholic Church. They were wonderful and the performance had us all in tears it was so moving. Angela was fantastic to work with in the planning stages and also had good suggestions to ensure the ceremony music was special and flawless.
My wife and I used Wine Country entertainment for our recent wedding in Napa. They were fantastic and we’d highly recommend them. We found 2 musicians, and our DJ from this agency and our guests loved all of the entertainment provided at our wedding (so did we). Angela was extremely helpful in working with our wedding planner, helping us pick the right entertainment and getting everything organized. A special thanks goes out to her for all of her help.
