Always great stopping in the music shop, great place to buy and trade at for your music needs
Not only did he give me an amazing deal on an acoustic, but will be attaching a know the makers left off, to hold my strap, For Free.
its a place.
Nice little pocket shop to pick up some accessories and or a guitar you had no idea was there lol. Drum sticks are decently priced too although limited to two brands. I absolutely love the mascots too!
Wide variety of guitars and similar instruments. Always a fun place to go to.
Some vintage gear and some brands I’ve never seen before. Mike was very friendly. If you’re visiting Carbondale and need a quick fix, swing on by. Easy to find on main drag.
3. The Zombie Guitar Company
Address: 107 N 16th St suite b, Herrin, IL 62948 , Cambria , Illinois , United States
I was about to purchase a “outa sight white” danelectro ‘59m NOS+ on their reverb that was “open to offers” listed at $479.99. After I made my offer the owner changed the price to $529.99 and told me “so it’s still a good deal”. I showed proof that the guitar was listed on Sweetwater for $479.99. The owner then responded with a different guitar(aged white) listed at $529.99 and could not tell the difference… Overall I felt it was unprofessional to change the price on their reverb right after I put in my offer(my final offer was $465) while the guitar was still listed at $479.99, especially on a guitar that has been open and on display.
Been taking guitar instruction here for over two years. Chad and Mike are great, and I recommend The Practice Pad for anyone seeking musical instruction.
My 2 year old daughter has been showing signs of interest in the drums. Being new to the Southern IL area I did my own research for classes & a teacher my child was comfortable with. The Practice Pad is a place that my child never wants to leave when our sessions are over for the day. I couldn’t ask for better!
the best place to buy from someone someone who has a brain…….
6. Byassee Music and Sound

I absolutely love this store I have bought so many of my cds for church here these guys are very kind and definitely have the patience God gave Job ! We also bought a piano from them for our daughter to learn on. It is very nice and well worth the money!! God bless you all . If you need something they are right there to show you or order it for you. Thank you all
They have everything a musician needs
Matt is the most helpful of any store owners I’ve ever met. I WON’T TAKE MY BUSINESS ANYWHERE ELSE EVER!!!
Always great service and products
Had everything we needed.
Really nice people, just very overpriced
Very friendly and helpful. Nice to still have a brick and mortar music store in the area.
They sold me a violin for 2,000 and when I had it appraised the specialist said they cost $100 for a set of three. I will never do business with them again and I urge anyone to go elsewhere
This one of the finest music stores in Southern Illinois. Bruce and his staff are so personable and helpful. They truly support the teachers, performers and students of this area. I would be lost without this store.
We love Baldwin Piano – best prices within Illinois and across the tri-state region. The owner is wonderful. We bought a new Roland and we are so happy we did.
The rep was nice but the selection for guitar items was very thin.
Honestly the best studio in the 618. I make sure to stop by whenever I’m in town Great service
Very professional and overall great experience recording with Nyse Productions
Been coming to record with Steve Nyse for a couple years now and he really loves what he does and puts in countless amount of hrs to get projects done. If you are an artist that wants to make songs that you are going to be proud of then come to this studio! He is great
12. Plaza Records
Address: 816 E Main St Suite D, Carbondale, IL 62901 , Cambria , Illinois , United States
The people put 100% effort into getting you what you need. Even if that means they miss a sale. Because of that ive done all my business with them.
They work with you. Great payment plans.
Very helpful staff
The girls who waited on me couldn’t have been more cordial and helpful. I wish they had a broader assortment of the classic oldies sheet music I was looking for. But there is always the internet. Perhaps my age has caught up with me. LOL.
15. Mayberry Music & Sound
Address: 301 E Broad St, Jonesboro, IL 62952 , Cambria , Illinois , United States
Always a pleasure to go to Mayberry Music. Plenty of instruments & great folks to talk to.
Wonderful store and knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Bought a Telecaster there today for my son. They treated us like royalty. We couldn’t believe how nice and helpful they were. They will be getting all of my business from now on. Thanks Mayberry Music.
Buy guitars and strings there sometime.
I really enjoyed the customer service. Employees were really helpful and professional
I am definitely a fan of Mayberry Music And Sound. As a banjo player, I do want to say that they are quite a bit over priced on their banjos and their banjos are not set up correctly. So I would not recommend getting a banjo set up there. Other than that, they are very good if your buyingan instrument from them.
To pricey for old models
Mayberry is all you could ask for except a good customer experience. Massive selection but all prices are at the higher end and there is very little wiggle room even when trading up. You may find what you need but if you’re looking for some good conversation and a great shopping experience look elsewhere.
The employees here are very satisfied with themselves and have a “cork sniffer” vibe from their precious pedestals. They are all too happy to correct you when talking about instruments and there is a complete lack of a warm one-on-one personal experience. With Amazon’s prices there’s little reason to go here unless you can’t wait or need something immediately.
I have been consistently disappointed with the attitude of and experience from Mayberry’s over the years and recommend taking an extra thirty minutes to go elsewhere or use it as a showroom to purchase on Amazon. It’s just not a very fun experience and fun and music shops I thought were supposed to go hand in hand.
I brought in a new guitar for warranty work, as they are a licensed dealer of this particular brand. They refused to perform the work because it “wasn’t worth the headache”. This was a guitar that I ordered thru them. I’ll take my business elsewhere, and you’d be well advised to do the same.
16. Cricket & Red Brick Antique Mall

Love this place. The people that run this are so friendly and welcoming. They took an old building and gave it life without hurting its historical look. Great vendors. Seems like we always find treasures. Thank you all.
Cricket and Red Brick Antique Mall recently opened in Carterville. This antique mall is full of beautiful displays, check out the booths upstairs.
You will enjoy your visit. Love this mall
