Small, family owned music store with an extremely knowledgeable staff!
This is a music store that is run by musicians for musicians and I highly recommend it. A friendly, knowledgeable staff that is always ready to help you . Great selection of musical instruments and !
Friendly and helpful and knowledgeable staff, with the bonus of possibly seeing music legends!
My go to store. Knowledgeable and helpful. Use their luthier services and amp repair services. In the last two years have bought two acoustic guitars, one new tele pro, new vibrolux, cables and a new set of tama drums. I Never try to negotiate prices because I want our local stores to thrive. Im a weekend regular. This may seem silly but Im knocking off a star because for a regular customer who does spend money and not just kick tires they should throw in a little something every now and again. A t shirt, a cable. A guitar strap, etc. When i bought the drum set and acoustic on the same day i picked up 6 generic guitar picks for which I was charged. Personally I would thrown those in for free. Hope this doesnt sound petty and this will continue to be my store for as long as they will have me. This is meant as constructive criticism only.
Been before years ago but when I went this time to sell, was really low balled and honestly talked out of a sale too. So normally good, but today was a confusing visit to say the least. However, the blonde girl who’s name is didn’t get working was very nice! Would go there just for her customer service again!
Great place if U love music and playing it
Over priced needed Reed’s and I can get them 10 for 28-32 dollars any where. Theirs was 10 bucks as. And I had to have them that day. Nope I’m done with them
Seems like some decent prices but very stale service.the blonde at the front desk acts like it hurts her face to smile r speak someone done told her she cute 1 to many times
He has a huge collection of records. Tons of classics. Very nice guy.
The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming. A huge selection and you are sure to find something at a great price.
If you love music. I mean love, than this place is great! With a great selection of classic, vintage vinal. From rock to pop, to sinatra and motown, you’ll love it there. With prices that are very reasonable , there’s something for everyone.
Owner knows his music and will share a story or two. If you love vinyl LP’s, they have lots of variety. A cool little spot to go check out. Buys and sells!
It was closed that day so I didn’t get to tour it
Store actually opens at 12 and closes at 7. Prices are more than reasonable and they will issue refunds or exchanges if you aren’t happy with your record. Place is a bit cluttered but all places worth going to are. Store may not be as big as other places like Nu Way but definitely has some good stuff!
Came by every day for four days in a row during the open hours and no one has been in the shop. Also called multiple times during different times of the day and no one answered.
I have stopped by this store half a dozen times, always between the hours of noon and 7pm. Despite the lights being on and the signs saying open, despite the hours of operation listed online, I have yet to be able to go inside because it is ALWAYS closed. Looks like it’d be a cool store to dig through, but it seems like I’ll never get the chance. Every time I stop by, I call the store number – it goes straight to voicemail and the mailbox is always full. What a complete bummer.
I needed to have a repair to my guitar, and I was trying to find somewhere to fix it quick. So I took it to a popular music store (which shall remain nameless). And my guitar was not even touched when I came back the next day. So I decided to take it to the Sound Shoppe, and it was fixed within 10 minutes right in front of me. Quality work and service is an understatement. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, hands down best music equipment/ repair store in north Alabama.
I worked for the Sound Shoppe for Half a decade and met many great people there. Not only was Darrell Triplett a GREAT guy to work for, but he is also a great guy to do business with. I’ve bought many instruments from him, both before I worked there and since, and have always been super satisfied. Would recommend it to anyone!
Went there to get a gift. The owner was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and I walked out with a guitar I’m excited to give away. Great experience!
Knowledgeable staff. Great deals.
Always a good experience at the Sound Shoppe. Daryl is very good at working on my guitars. I trust him.
Knowledgeable people
Don’t ever try to sell or trade with Darrel from this place……..he will low ball you every single time! This used to be the best place to buy sell or trade any music equipment but not anymore
Save your money and time – go to Counts Brothers or use the internet, which you know you should be doing anyways. I would write out what a bad experience I had last time I shopped here, but this is a small town and not worth the blowback. I’ll never go to this shop again.
Very rude customer service. They are also really hard to get on the phone during posted business hours. Take a 10 minute trip to Counts Bro. It’s worth it.
10. Alabama Music
Address: 2450 Mall Rd, Florence, AL 35630 , Colbert County , Alabama , United States
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to direct us to exactly what we needed.
Wonderful staff! Very friendly atmosphere!
Greated when we walked in and helped immediately. They answered all our questions and took the time with my daughter to answer the questions she had. Great place and good prices.
Always helpful and friendly
Service here is usually hit and miss. One day is fine, the next is worse.
This store offers everything you’d need for band (and some orchestra) including, but not limited to: mouthpieces, sticks, neck straps, lessons, practice pads, picks, amps, music books, cleaning supplies, and you can also (I believe) order instruments from a catalog.
To save yourself a lot of time and some irritation pointed at you, try to have a closer idea of what you want instead of just saying “I need reeds” or “I need drumsticks”. You will have a much better time there if you do.
The “here or there” aspect of the service as well as some questionable prices on a few items is the reason for my score. If you go in on a good day and don’t mind the prices, by all means, this is a 5 star place.
TL;DR: Whether you’re a band director in need of some instrument repairs before band camp or you need some cool sticks for your mallet recital, Alabama Music has got your back. Just keep on the lookout for good service and bad prices (not saying that it always happens, probably just a fluke)
Have a good day 🙂
Quality equipment large selection of strings Price is Right
Researched music stores that “buy” instruments. This store popped up among others. Called store. A woman answered. She was cold & rude. I inquired & she said No. Their competitor also confirmed that they buy instruments.
I have used the services of this Studio twice and am very pleased with the talent and professionalism of owner Donnie Gullett! Great experience and awesome job engineering/ mixing on recordings!!!
Just awesome. The Foundation has committed to returning the studio to what it looked like in the seventies. The guide was terrific. Well worth the price of admission. Wholeheartedly reccomend.
Enjoyed learning even more about the Muscle Shoals Sound and the amazing hits that were received here. Fun to see where it all happened! Such rich music made in humble surroundings.
Alot of music history here, you can feel it just walking in.
Hallowed ground here!
A lot of music history right under our nose here in Alabama. So glad we stopped by to hear about the history and the swampers.
Wish it would have been open
Wasn’t impressed. Did not want to wait an hour for the tour. Trinkets and admission high
Let me be fair upfront on my two star rating. I never entered the building. After checking the website the day before for hours I made the almost three hour drive to visit the studio on a Sunday afternoon. I arrived to a parking area with a few other cars waiting but no one to let us in the building. One sad couple had even purchased tickets in advance. After waiting around a bit a young lady finally arrived inky to I form me Sunday tours had ended the weekend before but the information had not been updated. Moral of the story: call ahead.
Do not buy anything online from these folks. They won’t ship it to you. It’s a scam. I ordered a t-shirt almost two months ago and have send numerous emails and left numerous voice mails, when their mailbox isn’t full which is rarely, and have not had the courtesy of a single reply. They are a rip off pure and simple. And yes, I did visit there once and it was cool, but these folks are just crooks.
Great people to work with! Their passion for excellent work is very evident! Would highly recommend!
Brian, Nick, and the rest of the guys will treat you right!
I was the project manager for our farewell concert at our university. We needed to mic 90 voices and 32-piece orchestra for a 3k+ audience. The sound was stellar. The team worked day and into the night to get everything right. The best live sound i’ve heard in a while. Highly recommend.
After purchase support is lacking. One would think after placing an order and paying over $24,000, they should answer calls to check status of the order. Haven’t heard back from them in over 30 days after purchase, and they DO NOT answer the phone, only voice mail.

” I Swear ” was a great song, I read the article on Gary Baker in “tools for Success” magazine , Fall/Winter 2018 issue, very talented musician and songwriter.
This group of individuals were extremely professional and easy to work with! I hope to have an opportunity to go back!
