Every kind of books and information that you need about musical instruments, you will be able to find.
It’s a long standing family owned business. The guys who work here are very dedicated.
So much variety and equipment! You can find sheet music too. Everyone is so nice and sometimes you can catch some nice piano practicing.
Definitely would recommend and visit again
Friendly well-equipped music store. Needed a cheap harmonica for my class. The nice assistant found me just what I needed rather than try to sell me something expensive.
The older man isnt very welcoming. However there was a nicer younger man.
The worst place to buy a instrument they sold me a junk instrument for 1,000 when I went back with receipt they gave me run around and would not take it back
2. Best Buy
Address: 200 Colma Blvd, Colma, CA 94014 , Colma , California , United States
Excelente para comprar rápidamente y todo en electrónica y cocina.
Fast curbside pickup!
Great selection, good deals, but not much help…
Bought my galaxy note
People are knowledgeable, great service, not enough employees though
I went in to purchase a new lens for my Canon camera but found the display case nearly empty and nobody in the department to go ahead and assist me with my needs
First negative review I have ever left but I had to let people know. This locations sales are so low they don’t know how to help you purchase an item. Bought 2 computers after that experience and then tried to return one because it was slow and they wouldn’t let me making excuses. So went to a different store and did it. Won’t be back personally.
Went for contactless pickup and they asked everyone to wait in line instead.. literally the opposite of contact less pickup.
3. Bronstein Music
Address: 305 3rd Ln, South San Francisco, CA 94080 , Colma , California , United States
Friendly, good service, and good price. Tucked away in the alley off the main street.
Amanda is awesome!!!
Hidden gem, good customer service.
[Repair flute
Fair pricing and quick turnaround time on repairs.
Rentals and all else was spot on.
Customer service could get much better, it’s good to be polite and considerate to all customers.
Poor selection of strings for cello, took 30 minutes to buy 2 strings, they came loose in a paper bag with no product information. Had to ask to ecwn learn that they were steel core nickel wound. Strings were very low quality for the price.
I went to replace a bow that they said was fine, I thought they wouldn’t replace the bow but they did. They told me they would give me a bow with the same weight and pretty much the same bow. But they gave me a fiberglass bow instead of a carbo fiber bow, that is heavier then the old one. I’m second chair in an orchestra and a concert is coming soon. I’m not sure want to do, I don’t have anyone to bring me back to the store.

5. Sunset Music
Address: 2311 Irving St, San Francisco, CA 94122 , Colma , California , United States
I have known this music shop & its owner since I was a child: first to buy piano sheet music, later a kazoo once for middle school choir, in adulthood, guitar works. Thanks.
Great neighborhood music store. Excellent selection of sheet music. They offer music lessons for all ages here. This is not Guitar Center, they don’t have walls of electric guitars, etc, only a few student classical guitars, ukuleles, recorders, and the like. But they provide strings for most classical instruments, reeds, violin supplies, guitar picks, tuners, metronomes…the list could go on. I got all the music books for my son’s piano classes here when he was attending the SF Conservatory. I am a semi pro musician myself and have gotten plenty of last minute supplies and sheet music here for my own gigs. Staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They have never been condescending. They aim to be helpful no matter where you are on your musical journey.
Great little boutique music shop
Kool
you buy music, rent an intstrument or buy a brand new one.
Someone is using your number as a scam
Hope you get that cleared up.
6. The Music Store
Address: 66 W Portal Ave, San Francisco, CA 94127 , Colma , California , United States
Estive em sua loja e comprei vários cds de rock para meu irmão. Sou do Brasil. Meu irmão ficou muito feliz com as raridades. Parabéns pela loja e esqueci de perguntar o seu nome?
I’ve been to your store and bought several rock CDs for my brother. I’m from Brazil. My brother was very happy with the rarities. Congratulations on the store and Forgot to ask your name?
I absolutely love this place!! Even though they don’t always have the music I’m looking for, the owner and the atmosphere always make this place a fun trip when I’m in West Portal. I love checking out the different records, CDs, and other cool projects the store has. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area and you want to check out a cool store!
Music stores are a rarity, so visiting my local music store was quite a treat. They have a wide selection of vinyls, CDs, DVD movies, and even blu-rays. Many of the vinyls aren’t necessarily collector’s favorite. Many of the covers that come with them have seen better days but they are offered at a very reasonable price that even competes with eBay prices. The guys behind the counter know their stuff, so if you need something they might have it in inventory so just ask!
Very knowledgeable guys in the guitar room, they knew exactly what I wanted, even though I didn’t.
Comfortable enough to stay and dig forever!
Nowadays, places like this are hard to find. There is a great energy here, that of the late 60’s/early 70’s. Everything is a very nice price, especially because I have found that LPs and 45’s can be very expensive. As of writing this (10/13/19) the 45’s are buy 3 get one free, but the helpful and nice owner of the shop charged me for three and gave me two free. I gave it four stars for a few reasons: besides all of this, the records are not well organized (but not awful either.) One of the 45s was scratched pretty bad, but I got it for free and the song on the other side is good, so that is OK. They may not have the exact record you want, but even though I left the place without a much-hoped for Beach Boys record, I found a delightful Doo-Wop record that has yielded many hours of joy. I have also found many, many good CDs here. I think that there is even a small tape collection. I have also made some good DVD finds. And, if you have any Spongebob memorabilia to get off of your hands, the shop owner would be happy to buy it. I also found a 25 cent record sleeve that I needed for my Alfred Apaka LP that I lost the case for. This is quite a nice place to find old music media, and I am glad I live nearby!
Why, but why don’t you post online you are closed for a week???
7. Target
Address: 5001 Junipero Serra Blvd, Colma, CA 94014 , Colma , California , United States
staff helps you located items and there are always enough check stands open
This was the best shopping experience I have ever had at any Target!!!
Because I am vertically challenged the salesperson, Abel, stayed with me the entire time I was shopping from the men’s department to the women’s Department to pajamas to the sports Department to assist me with everything that was at least six feet tall or higher for me to reach, that was Amazing.!!!
I also used him as my personal model because his stature was the same as my man’s. This way any SURPRISE gifts I was buying, I hoped would fit !!!
So ask for ABEL…SAT – SUN 9-5
COLMA TARGET….UPZ to YOU!!!
MACY’S you better Look out
“GOODFELLOW” has ARRIVED!
(for those of you wondering about who that maybe….HEAD to TARGET it’s the only way you’ll SEE).
IM OUT…!#
My favorite target
I usually go there for my mom’s adult diapers. They didn’t have what she needed so we went to the Serramonte branch
I’ve been coming to this Target forever. As a matter of fact this Target is one of the very firsts in the Bay Area. The store has been expanding over the years so it is quite a large store now. You can almost find anything you need here. It now even has a CVS pharmacy.
I don’t shop at this store very often anymore because prices here are higher than some other Targets. The service here is alright. I haven’t had any major issues here. The fitting rooms might need a little cleaning. There always seems to have dust bunnies and hair in this area.
Two stars because cashiers are nice, but they still have reduced hours (used to be midnight, pre-pandemic) and the remodel is terrible.
Always verify the total on the register or go to self checkout. The employee showed me I’ll intention by charging me twice on a high ticket item. Very disappointed and unsatisfied with that Colma Target experience. Will not come here anymore. Unless the integrity of the staff had improved.
This rating is solely based on their women’s restroom. There are no words to describe how disgustingly foul every single stall was when I went to target last night. I am not exaggerating when I say that literally every single stall had a toilet bowl filled with urine and feces. & It’s not just from people not flushing, most of the toilets were clogged and filled to the brim. This isn’t the first time I have seen the bathroom this way, but last night was my final straw when I was unable to use any of the stalls. It is so incredibly repulsive that I have no idea how the store can let it get this bad. Also, their hand dryer was not working and they do not have paper towels. Besides that the store is fine, but definitely needs to do better when it comes to cleaning the bathrooms. (I can only imagine how the men’s bathroom is….)
8. Steve Swan Guitars
Address: 1519 Old Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA 94010 , Colma , California , United States
If you’re into playing bass, this is where you want to shop. Steve is extremely accommodating, and I spent two and a half hours there trying different basses with different bows. Steve’s approach is solid. He provides information, and then leaves you alone so that you can hear the bass that you’re playing… Finding and purchasing the right bass or bow can be a time-consuming experience. Steve’s approach makes it much easier, and I will definitely shop there again!
Bought my main instrument from Steve many years ago. He took the time to help me find what was right, patiently and carefully, and as a result, it’s still may favorite instrument. He listens, pays attention, and helps his clients zero in on what they want. 6 out of 5….
We bought an upright bass here and couldn’t have been more pleased. The selection is amazing, and Steve was helpful and patient.
The store does still exist but it’s a bit difficult to find.
I put my guitar on consignment with Steve about 2 years ago. He lent it out for long spans of time without my permission and eventually sold it without informing me. Then he said he needed the money for his own bills, so he couldn’t pay me. He’s obviously got problems that should keep anyone from trusting him. I’m taking him to small claims court over it.
9. Exploring Music
Address: 814 Clement St, San Francisco, CA 94118 , Colma , California , United States
Great service, great products, and great price. Thank you!
Great store, great people
My daughter has been taking lessons from various teachers at Exploring Music for the last 3 years. She has learned a lot. The teachers go out of their way to accommodate the students to meet their needs. We were fortunate to get private lessons when my daughter needed additional help. Teacher Sue even helped us get another keyboard for my daughter to practice at her dad’s house. I’m so grateful for all that we’ve experienced with Exploring Music!
Very limited selection of music books.
Guzheng instruments available to purchase and guzheng numbered sheet music with roman numerals and choice of simplified and traditional chinese.
Small music shop but very helpful staff. We went in to service my daughter’s violin and to buy a 3/4 violin for my son. All the work was done perfectly and the prices were good (the shoulder rest we bought was cheaper than the same on Amazon)
10. Real Guitars
Address: 15 Lafayette St, San Francisco, CA 94103 , Colma , California , United States
Been going here for 20 years.. My favorite guitar joint, by far.
Many cities have a “cool” music store where pros hang out. In San Francisco that place is Real Guitars. Real people selling real instruments and with great knowledge! Highly recommended.
The best vintage guitar shop in San Francisco, good selection of both acoustic and electric guitars and vintage amps.Friendly, knowledgeable people, decent prices. Also home to Gary Brawer guitar repair – the best place to have your guitar worked on in SF.(If he’s good enough for Joe Satriani he’s good enough for you!)
I’ve been coming here for decades and I’ve known Gary for over 35 years
A [real] guitar shop! Not a big box distribution outlet. Great vintage selections. Nice ol’ wise staff. They don’t make’em like this anymore
Father and son team really know guitars! It’s like stepping into a time machine. Cool guitars and, if you need your guitar serviced, this is the place.
Good stuff
I have bought a Gibson ES125t 1964. Im not an expert, I just liked it. They sold it to me without telling me anything about the details im about to unveil.
It has nails covering up an old repair, and it needs a huge overwhole. They could have say something but the old man choosed not to…. because he knew I wouldnt notice.
Well done fellas, here is my review and I hope many other guys like me read it before buying something from you. There is no dignity in making money that way.
I will never ever buy anything again from you.
Never opens when he says he’ll be open. Unreliable and frustrating.
When I called, an employee just hung up after speaking with very little interest. I was just about to buy a guitar here but after this conversation I’m definitely not going to.
11. Guitar Center
Address: 1645 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94109 , Colma , California , United States
Got here to fix my guitar. The technician was very helpful and knew what he was doing. Great service, highly recommend!
De todo puedes encontrar ahí
Candy shop
Good selection of instruments and a friendly staff
Lot of stuff but workers need to improve the quality of the service… they are kind of angry
Great guitar and pedal selection! No woodwind section, little bass choices
It takes 5 minutes to update bussines hours on google maps. Yet they expecto you to get there and find out at the door, shut on your face. I needed a cable urgently, for a concert, now i rarher order online with a competitor. Frustraiting.
Please update your hours.
There are folks who already know what they’re looking for and don’t need to check reviews for a hidden gem… (That is that’s even there)
Asked to try a guitar and literally waited for 30 mins after I was told “you sure I’ll be right there”. He would look at me and let other clients pass first. I was gonna buy a quite expensive piece of equipment, too bad!
