Great place with a knowledgeable staff. My boys got their first “real” guitars here. They’re both personal musicians now. Their salesman Clay is still there. I have many good memories of this place.
I come in at least every month and I love the service
Very informative personell. Didn’t mind spending the time with a new customer.
Friendly service, knowledgeable reps – what more do you want?
Great music not so much more marching band
A bit pricey. Does not offer repairs.
All in your face wouldn’t let us look around and in a hurry to get us out
I went in to buy a guitar. I wanted an American Stratocaster. They had a very small inventory, and the few that I might have been interested in were hung too high to get a good look at. The salesperson finally asked if I wanted him to get one down, but since he needed a stool to reach them I said no. I didn’t want someone to have to climb up and down for each instrument I would like to hold. I left without looking at any guitars. This was the Augusta store. The Savannah store is much better. The instruments are more accessible there. I bought a Gibson acoustic there two years ago. I bought a Fender American professional Strat from another store two days after my visit to Portman’s Augusta store.
Will not do business with them.
3. Music & Arts
Address: 3830 Washington Rd Ste 33, Augusta, GA 30907 , Columbia County , Georgia , United States
Great place great environment. Kevin amazing sale rep/ manager I’ll be back..
Staff is super friendly and willing to work with you to find exactly what you need at a fair, sometimes even negotiable, price.
Great staff. They know their instruments and put customer service first. Good I bought my guitars there.
Local staff is absolutely fabulous!
Kind and helpful each time I’ve visited. They have gone above and beyond to help us with purchases questions and repairs.
BUT, this is a big nationwide company so when it comes to billing questions or issues you have to call thier customer service line and that is always a big hassle in my experience. You can’t update cards and such online, the wait time to speak to anyone has always been 30+ minutes for me and they often give inaccurate information on pricing and/or billing dates.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the employees in the actual store being so awesome I’d just go through a different company for my child’s band rental, but they really are that good that I’m willing to overlook the corporate problems
Very helpfu, knowledgeable, professional staff
4. Kirkwood’s Music and Repair
Address: 206 S Belair Rd, Martinez, GA 30907 , Columbia County , Georgia , United States
Kirkwood is the best, his entire team is very knowledgeable. I was very surprised to find such quality work in little ole Augusta. Their basic repair skills are on par with the best in Manhattan and their prices are fair. If I lived I Atlanta I would bring my horn here. This is small business at its best.
Needed to get a mic checked to make sure it was working and pick up a new cable. Both guys I talked to were friendly and were a pleasure to deal with. 5 star experience
Very quick and friendly service! Had everything my children needed for strings class. Also got my first month of instrument rental free.
Very helpful staff. Excellent choices for piano teaching books.
Gentlemen upfront extremely nice(thank you for your help and knowledge). I explained the situation and since my employment seemed sketchy I understood. I agreed to do the credit check which is not a soft inquiry it is a hard inquiry which stays on your credit for 2 years and deducts 5 points. But still trying to explain very nicely my situation(never vulgar or raised my voice) the heavy man in back said and I quote “I am not trying to get verbal with you and threaten you in front of your son”. Anyone who has had their identity stolen understands. But I do not appreciate being threatened.
Terrible customer service. I brought in an instrument just to be looked at to see whether it needed to be repaired or not. The guy looked at it and gave me attitude while calling it a piece of junk and said that he refused to work on it. He wasn’t willing to work with me at all and offered no reason other than it was a piece of junk. He was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I know I don’t have a $5000 instrument, but at least be polite about it instead of insulting me to my face. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
I was lied to… basically an older woman who worked for the store and no longer there stated that after I returned my rental a portion of my monthly fee would be refunded or i could rent another instrument… lies… all lies… A younger gentleman who now works in the store did not want to keep the obligation based on the contract.. PLEASE READ YOUR CONTRACTS.. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING IF YOU DON’T KNOW … PLEASE READ YOUR CONTRACTS…
I came in when they were about to close. I got what I needed, prices were reasonable and it was last minute. We were all dancing to the reggaeton music playing in the store. No issues, I was happy they had e everything I needed for my gig.
Best guitar store, very clean, huge stock, amazing employees, especially Tea, she really helps me and my dad find exactly what we need.
Clean store, great staff, good selection.
Very good service nice sales lady
Ok what you need at ok prices if you don’t want to use Amazon.
Worst guitar center I’ve ever been to! I was lied to about taking equipment in on trade just so they could sell me something at full price and the guy at the front counter with the little chin beard was EXTREMLY rude! I would not waste my money at this store!
I went in, found a cord that is like the one I am looking for, I found an employee to ask if they have the one I am looking for, and he tersely told me no, he hasn’t seen one. I found an adapter on my own, I went to the register, I put my item on the counter, I got out my cash to pay, and the same person said he would be right with me and he answered the phone, which is fine for me, but then he hung up, walked away, and started helping someone carrying a guitar case.
I will never be back to Guitar Center nor their fledgling sister store Music and Arts. M&A did nothing wrong; I simply will not give their overall company any of my hard-earned money after being treated so grottily.
I ordered the adapter I need from Amazon at a much more economical price w/ free shipping.
I have been to this location 4 times in the past two months, have yet to be waited on, greeted. They obviously don’t want my money. No worries, other companies do
Kevin has amazing customer service and attention to details. He’s produced amazing music back to back, his music video are great and he’s an amazing person. I’d recommend him to anyone
Es facil de brabajar con doza. El siempre trae ideas unicas a cualquier projecto, le pone attencion a los detalles y es muy talentoso.
Super polite staff, reasonable prices he was in the middle of a store change so all the stuff wasn’t there yet but I will be back
Amazing customer service and amazing people, will definitely be coming back. They are currently moving to the back of there store but good selection none the less, would recommend for avid guitar players.
I’ve known the owners for years, I used to come in there old location every week before I moved. Its really the only place in Augusta to find cool used trade-ins. Vera is a super sweet lady and Doug is really fair on trades.
It’s the same Jays in a new location. They have a nice selection of gear, but be ready for the owners to be on you like hawks to buy something asap.
Not shoppable, no defined path. Much of the stock is in cardboard boxes skewed across the store. The owner pays no attention to the customers. Most products have no price labeled on them, but you can’t get the owner’s attention long enough to ask the prices.
Staff the older gentlemen is not the friendliest and the woman is not too knowledgeable on their products. New location is cleaner than the old one but still stock remains on shelves for a long time and not upkept. A few guitars i played were not tended to. Dead strings and grimey fretboards. Not good
I placed an item on layaway and every time I went to make a payment the store was closed. When I requested a refund I was told that they don’t give refunds. I recommend that NO ONE does business with this place. They are both prejudice and scammers!!!
Very nice store. Better prices than anywhere else too.
It was the best place to shop for a musical instrument. Nice selection of cymbals. The owner is very knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help you find what you need.
It was outstanding. People who work there are very helpful. CHECK IT OUT!
Good people very helpful
Mike always seems 2 have some edifying and more times than ñotu leave feeling like u⁷u7
Just a poor experience in my visit. Not worth the explanation.

We are so happy to have found The Musical Express and Ms. Temeka Davis! She is a caring and all around phenomenal instructor.
One of the best Piano Studios in Augusta, GA. Temeka Davis and her teachers truly keep the students’ learning experiences educational and fun. If you want your kids to become a part of THE MUSICAL EXPRESS, then you have a great music-making journey ahead of you and your family! All you have to do is find the Facebook page.
This place is wonderful. My boys have learned so much and now think piano is fun thanks to Miss Temeka and Miss Rebekah.
17. Rock Bottom Music & Sound Super Store
Address: 2825 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA 30909 , Columbia County , Georgia , United States
AWESOME…This is extremely rare for me to do a review of any particular store. Why, because 95% of them are just like the others. But, Rock Bottom Music so compelled me to let as many people know just how wonderfully different they are. I am a very particular person, and I am a stickler for customer service. This is where Mr. Deveran Roof pushed RBM store into the top 5% of stores that truly, truly go “beyond the call of duty.” I have shopped there on many occasions and I have been completely satisfied with every visit. Even when I was not satisfied with a particular piece of gear (the fault of the manufacturer), Deveran assured me that I would be satisfied, no matter what. Guess what, he honored that statement. I had to wait for an ordered item that the manufacturer stated would be shipped out on several dates that left me very frustrated. However, Deveran contacted them, emailed me, and his business office, of the status of my order weekly. (I know right, who does that?) They don’t just sell you stuff, they sell you a piece of mind!!!
THANKS Deveran, for everything. For once, I’m glad I hit Rock Bottom 😉
I am Ba-Rock O’Bottom, and I approve of this store.
Great service and gear
Unscrupulous owner.
Dropped by today (on a Saturday around 3:30pm) for a first time visit…open sign is on…sign says they close at 7pm…doors are locked…guy comes to door and doesnt even open it!…just speaks through door and says “sorry, we already locked the doors, we are closing early”……that’s ok, I like blowing money on gear and was planning on dropping about $500 today…….will not be back..
May 21 2017 12:12 P.M. just came by to get some guitar strings because one of mine broke this morning…posted hours 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. well its 12:15 sign says closed with a sign below it written by a mad customer…I’m not mad just disappointed. More customers looking in the window now and leaving
