Quaint shopping off the beaten path. Clean store and friendly staff. Handicap parking and accessable.
Great people and great service.happy place to walk into to.
This place is always so rude and stuck up. They are expensive and never have big packages of anything.
People aka cashiers are rude.. the meat is not good quality and it has discoloration.. you are better off driving to jasper for the prices they have here it is too expensive
Horrible the atm took my bank card.
3. Jerry’s Music
Address: 1140 25th St W, Jasper, AL 35501 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Highly recommend! Nick is a great music instructor and very knowledgeable in instrument repair. Great selection in accessories and instruments as well.
Nicholas is an exceptionally versatile musician and is extremely dedicated to the musical progression of his students!
If you’re looking for a professional music service in Northwest Alabama, look no further. Nick is knowledgeable, professional and is a fantastic instructor. He has the uncanny ability to listen to, understand and then focus on the goals of you, the student.
I have also taken several instruments to Nick to be worked on, from a string change to a full set up on a new instrument. He has also repaired several that I’ve been a little rough with.
All in all, whether you’re looking for a lesson or just want to find a new piece of gear, this is the place to go!
The music store had the banjo strings I needed.
5. Homewood Musical Instrument Co
Address: 1712 28th Ave S, Homewood, AL 35209 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Warm friendly music store. Picked up a nice little ukulele there. Bob’s setup on it made a world of difference in playability. Definitely better than ordering from online stores. Stop by for a visit. You won’t regret it.
Best experience, they are very hands on and help you for what you are looking for and figuring out what you are looking for if you have no clue about stringed instruments and wanting to start, I have been going to this shop for a while now and I can’t help but wonder what inspired this small group of people to carry out such a remarkable business carried down from father to son. This company, let me rephrase that, this family of people related or unrelated, have made a truly inspired mark on many people’s lives by touching them with the art of music.
Bob and Jason having been helping Homewood & Birmingham with musical instruments for so long ! Great place to buy and learn something new
Good product, Good service.
Friendly atmosphere and lots of instruments.
I’ve never dealt with someone so rude over the phone. The owner tried to guilt me with sarcasm and acted like victim when I questioned a price. Full story: I asked to order a cello string. All was going well (owner answered questions about speed of shipping and availability of the string), but then he quoted a price ($81) that was far above what other shops charge. I said respectfully that “I’ve purchased the string for $45 at other walk-in shops” and he became sarcastic and argumentative with me, claiming he was “holding my hand” through the process, and said “Well, I have to pay $35 for this string so what do YOU think is fair for ME to make? $15? What is 35 + 15, huh? Ohhh, maybe $50 is more than you can afford?” A simple, “well this is my price” would have been fine as a response from him, but I felt disrespected so I hung up and decided I’m never going to spend a dime Homewood Musical Instrument Co. I advise everyone else to steer clear of this shop and the guy who owns it.
6. Bailey Brothers Music Company
Address: 4673 US-280 Suite # 7, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
We love Bailey Brothers. They are personable, they have good prices, and they fix you up with everything you need. If you’re in the market for a guitar, be sure to ask for Joseph.
Kindest and most knowledgeable employees I’ve experienced. They deserve anyone’s business who is interested in learning more about music or getting their gear improved. Todd particularly is super nice and helpful.
It was my first time in the store and I had an excellent experience. David was very helpful and friendly as well as the other staff present. The online site lacks a lot of the guitars they have in stock because they get new guitars a lot so I would advise actually going into the store to see their wide selection.
good staff well organize not bad products
Good selection of musical equipment. Be prepared because they strictly enforce the muzzle mandate inside. They make you wear masks.
I came in here the other day and they were incredibly overbearing and checked in on me every 30 seconds. From the second I walked in they were all up in my face and insisted on providing an address and phone number whenever I paid which I fully expect to be sold somewhere. I don’t know if they’re struggling to keep the lights on or something but the amount of customer service was way too much and came across as pushy and rude. Literally just let me shop.
manager and owner very racist!
This place is as good as, if not better than, Guitar Center. But this one man that works there is not the friendliest and makes me and my music buddy never wanna come again… I was gonna buy at least $20-$60 of stuff, and my buddy was gonna get his guitar worked on, but we decided against it after our experience today.
My friend and I were playing our guitars together at moderate volumes. No louder than the other customers that passed through. Our volume knobs probably were set around 1. This rude clerk guy came up to us and told us “turn it down, there are customers in here”. When there was maybe 1 other guy in the guitar room at most. What are we, trash? Are we not customers?
Though to be fair, there was a little kid who sat behind us who was louder than both of us combined, and he was tremolo picking the most random nonsensical annoying noise (future shredder?), but he should’ve told the kid to turn down—not us. We both turned our amps off because he was rude the last time we were in the store and we were pretty annoyed at this point. But the kid turned his amp down and continued the random picking and the dude immediately came back and said “hey, okay, turn it off, that’s enough for today” and took the guitar from the kid. The rudest music store clerk we’ve ever encountered. There’s another guy who is super nice that works there who let us turn the volume up—at least 2 or 3 times what we did today—and test every amp in the store. We bought a $2,000 setup from the nice guy in the past, but this rude guy would probably kick us out of the store before we could make a purchase. I didn’t catch his name, but he’s average height, blondish, his hair is thinning, and he had a short beard. A nicer worker told us he’s been there 3 years, though I’m not sure how he’s lasted that long. He’ll probably follow you around like you’re a thief and ask if he can help you 8 times like he did to us the last time we came in the store simply to buy a cable.
7. Highland Music
Address: 3000 Clairmont Ave, Birmingham, AL 35205 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Got a good deal on a used Vox guitar amp. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I fully intend to return.
Bought a guita there yeRs ago. Just visiting the store ‘off Highland’ for the first time. Nice array of guitars !
Very condscending and not friendly to younger people. Im not a know it all but some of the stuff the man was talking about wasnt correct. Rather go to bailey brothers theyre friendly and very nice
Tried to get my guitars worked on here multiple times. First time was an 8 string, guy said “I don’t like black guitars they scratch too easily” and then rubbed a cloth with steel wool fibers over it and scratched the guitar. GEE I wonder why! Had a pickup swap done on another guitar, put a scratch on it that went through the paint. Not only that, but he took it upon himself to do a full “set up” when I did not ask him to now I have buzz everywhere and it plays worse than it did before, then charged me for it. Oh and the pickups are also out of phase. Sorry, but that’s it. No more chances. Goodbye.
I guess they have some unique items which is cool but the folks behind the counter really seemed like they were annoyed to put their conversation on hold in order to help me and were also EXTREMELY condescending and pretentious. I’m a fairly experienced musician and these guys spoke to me as if I was completely ignorant and always would be.
8. Art’s Music Shop, Inc
Address: 4647 US-280, Birmingham, AL 35242 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
The folks at Art’s are top notch people who were incredibly helpful and most importantly, expressed themselves to be true enthusiasts of music themselves. They may be “salesmen”, but they came off more as highly knowledgeable fellow shoppers that had very straightforward and non-salesy opinions of the Breedlove acoustics and G&L electrics I was looking into. I had a really fun time trying out at least 10 different guitars in a relaxed but helpful atmosphere. Importantly, every guitar they had on the wall was expertly setup with appropriately filed nuts, adjusted saddles, and perfect relief on the necks. The Breedlove Organic Series Concerto I purchased was legitimately came as perfectly setup as you can get right off the display wall. I just with they had a store in my hometown of New Orleans, LA.
Store was sufficient and knowledgeable about music.
Absolutely a hidden GEM.
Please respect the instruments
They will let you play
Wonderful customer service
Always have a good experience at Arts. They work well with the school programs and if they don’t have what we need they are sure to find it
Big
Took in my guitar to get set up and to get the fret buzz handled. They told me it would take them three days. I took it to them on a Monday and I called them Thursday. They hadn’t even gotten started on it. (They said it was school season but if you tell me three days then stick by what you say) I told them I needed it by Friday morning and they told me they’d have it ready. I go that Friday morning and it was “set up” apparently. They didn’t even do my intonation and I’m pretty sure they didn’t use the string gauge I requested. To make things worse the fret buzz was horrendous. Like my guitar was unplayable, even more than before. Horrible service to say the least. I absolutely do not recommend getting your guitars set up here. Downright disgusting.
No se los recomiendo, es mejor comprar en online
This place is a joke. I called and asked about a mellophone and was told that they had several from me to choose from. I get there and they had one that was new and one from the 70’s they tried sell me. I will stay with Bailey Brothers.

10. B&C Music
Address: 314C Billy B Dyar Blvd, Boaz, AL 35957 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
I’ve know the owner Connie a long time good business. And a good woman
Very nice knowledgeable staff!
Had a marching competition and my daughter lost her ligature on her clarinet so we stopped by this music store and they had a universal ligature it was a very awesome product
Eeeeh
Good site
Over priced. Only good if you need to grab a pack of strings or something small last minute.
I felt watched and rushed. Two women were working there that day, one was very friendly. I did not feel comfortable asking questions and also it was so hot in there.
The people are not friendly, the merchandise is overpriced, some equipment is not even new (and it is damaged) although they don’t disclose that information, and getting around in a wheelchair is next to impossible. The lady at the register didn’t know anything about the equipment. It is definitely worth the drive to go somewhere else.
Awful place with cheap brands and overpriced / broken used instruments.
11. Cole Band Instruments
Address: 3076 McFarland Blvd #11, Northport, AL 35476 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
This place is great. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They helped us find what we needed and helped explain to my son how to better care for his instrument. They have a variety of items, one stand we wherw going to order as a Christmas present from Amazon we walked out the door with $2 cheaper.
Super nice folks and knowledgeable about different instruments.
Its good service very pricey though
Nice and very helpful
12. Ron Partain’s World of Music
Address: 1914 Cogswell Ave, Pell City, AL 35125 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Great local find, friendly/knowledgeable staff that seem happy to be there and eager to help! They had great versatility in brands/equipment/price ranges suitable for anyone it seems, wether beginner or pro. Definitely will be back
This place has got to be the best music store I have ever been too. The people are very nice and care about their customers!
Great customer service! Nice selection of guitars. Will definitely be back.
Nice place. Good selection conveniently located.
It’s a shame places like this will be going out of business soon. If they would have what I needed or was interested in like certain pickups or more interesting pedals and better guitars this would be an awesome place the last time I went in there the walls were filled with Nashville guitars and they had a couple good electrics but literally every acoustic guitar hanging on the wall was a Nashville guitar and I was looking for a Taylor or Martin but I’ve never seen anything like that in that store I go there to buy picks and strings but that’s only because they don’t have a guitar store in Talladega. When they don’t have pickups I need they asked me if I want them to order it but in this day and age I can just do that myself and get it for cheaper because looking at the price of the looper pedals they’re not buying them wholesale they’re buying them straight off of a website and marking the price up.. The people are super nice I hate giving a three-star review but I’m just being honest.
It’s a standard small music store. There aren’t a lot of new high end instruments here, but they are all very nice folks.
I read reviews for this shop and thought it was an honest place to sell my gear. I walked in with an Epiphone AJ 220, with an Epiphone molded hardshell case I bought seperately, and an Epiphone “Snake Pit” 15w practice amp. ALL in like new condition. She plugged the guitar in and it was only the fourth time it had ever been plugged in. I never put the guitar in the case without wiping it down first. Look everything I listed up for yourself, and you’ll see what I lost. I messed up and let the lady know that I was in dire need of money for my family. The old guy asked where I bought it, and when I told him, he said he’d lost alot of business to “places like that”. No. I looked around the shop, and all he had was used gear that had been repaired and put up for sale. Junk. My guitar was the nicest instrument there! The reason he’s losing business is because he’s trying to sell junk and beating people in need out of what their instruments are worth. The lady acted like she was on Pawn Stars! If I hadn’t had needed the money really bad, I would have told her where she could stick her $200! That’s all they gave me for everything I brought in. Look up the items I listed, and you’ll see I did my part to support this business! The reviews I read must have been friends of theirs, because they definately misled me. Not fair at all.
Walked in today to look around and from the moment I walked in the door, the older gentleman (I guess the owner?) had his eye on me and was watching me like a hawk, made me feel unwelcome to be there. He asked if I was looking for anything in particular and when I told him very politely he didn’t have what I was looking for he arrogantly told me “I opened this store in 1973 and everything you see in the store is priced the same as you’d get it online” like ok bud I wasn’t complaining about the price you just don’t have what I was looking for. When I told him I wasn’t looking to buy today, and was just looking around he made a sarcastic comment about “well if you’re not buying, we can just put this back on the shelf” ??? I continued to walk around and look at some more product and he continued to watch me like a hawk until I got in my car and pulled out of the parking spot. All of my musician friends have recommended I don’t frequent this store, and I can honestly say, after that experience, I will not and will tell anyone that asks not to either. Lousy excuse for customer service.
13. Lisenby’s Music Shop
Address: 831 S Memorial Dr, Prattville, AL 36067 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Love this store. LANCE is a real lover of music and ot shows. It’s nice to have a place that doesn’t feel soulless and corporate. If you’re in the tri County and looking for instruments, advice, gift ideas. Try here!
Enjoy the employees. Reasonable pricing. Great service!
Super knowledgeable guy that Mr Lisenby. I’ve known him since I moved to the area and he has always been a key asset to the local music scene. He just keeps getting better with age!
Lance and Tracy are nice folks. They have a good selection of strings and accessories. Neat place for obscure instruments.
14. Ellis Piano & Organ
Address: 1550 Montgomery Hwy suite a, Birmingham, AL 35216 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Ellis Piano was recommended to me by my teacher and rightfully so! They took great care of me, they are very knowledgeable and passionate. I was buying a beginner digital piano and they have a few of the options I previously identified online as the best to start with. Good prices too!
I went into the store to play on the piano…btw music has been my life king dream and Im pretty much self taught I can play a few pieces by Bach Mr. Ellis heard me struggling with Bach’s Little Fugue in G Minor he came over and spoke and on my way out he offered me a book for free I immediately began to cry I was so moved and full by his wanting to sow a seed in my life thank you so much Mr. Ellis the gift is now being stirred up!!!
Place is awesome. Family owned business, they go out of their way to accommodate their customers. Salesman walked around explaining everything to us and playing so we could hear the difference between the pianos. Great experience.
The staff was friendly, and they have tons of pianos and other equipment to choose from. The space is enormous, and is fun to just browse. They also do repairs. Call or stop by for any musical needs. Would go again.
my experience was questionable. they decide who they want …
Nice, helpful staff
15. GetRaw Entertainment

Instruments are great and there is a room full of guitars to try out
My daughter loves her piano lessons here. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly.
A lot of awesome musical instruments to choose from, very professional help
Very helpful staff. Nice store.
The gal at the front desk knew exactly what I needed and took me straight there.
Encontré lo que buscaba
Friendly but limited selection
Stoped in today to pick up some stuff.guy behind counter would not put his phone down to see if I needed any thing.
Great music store. Very helpful and friendly staff
Wish this was still true.. horrible experience recently when attempting to purchase a expensive acoustic guitar. 6/27/22 Went back to make a 2k+ purchase and was informed that I was given the wrong price by a salesman 2 days before. They tried to give other options but not enough to compensate for what was told to me. Very disappointed in a music store I’ve been loyal to for years.
17. Music By Grace
Address: 52 N Walston Bridge Rd, Jasper, AL 35504 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Been in to buy strings, picks, and stuff several times. Prices are good and people are friendly and helpful.
They were very friendly and willing to help us in any way possible!
I was looking for my son his first guitar and a small amp. I can say the person that helped us there was so patient and helpful with everything we needed. Did not mind taking down as many guitars as we needed to look at to make a good choice for a first guitar and told us everything we needed to know about each one. We will be back to this store when we are ready for another guitar or trombone as my son plays that also and who knows maybe some drums one day. Will take our instruments here for repairs also as you can tell the minute you walk in he door they care about you and music.
Thanks for a great experience. Anna and Noah Keeton.
I can never get ahold of them and the store is always closed every time I go there its locked and I’ve called multiple times. Left a voice message but yet no call back. Dont waste time trying to find this place.
18. B&K Tires
Address: 6335 Hwy 78 E, Cordova, AL 35550 , Cordova , Alabama , United States
Neat place to hang out and buy great quality guitars
I’ve been going to see Herb at Fretted Instruments for the past 33 years. Simply put 33 years should tell you something. Herb is straight froward, honest, great banjo player and an all around great human begin. There is absolutely no other shop that comes close to what Herb has to offer. Go there, sit down, chat and pick and grin for a bit. You’ll become part of a family of musicians.
Outstanding. Not only top choices in acoustic instruments, but Herb is a genuine craftsman who can set it up right. He helps customers find the best instruments for their interest.
