These good folks have a great assortment of affordable goods for those in need. They also help families with food items in times of need.
I love this place.
Hard working and friendly staff
who deserve the upmost respect!!
At least they give back
to the community!!
They have a seniors day,and I also know they help needed family’s..
Very nice discount store with nice friendly people
Some good deals
Terrible. I did my community service here. Anne Marie I believe that is her name was extremely rude and unprofessional. She treated me horribly. She Constantly looked over my shoulder and picked at what I was doing and very rudely asked why I was doing community service. If you have to do community service do not come here. I never take time to write out reviews but this place was quite disappointing do not do your hours here. Terrible experience.
I used to like going into this thrift store cause I know it helps people in need but I will no longer go in there as of today. Some of the women who work there seen I do have tattoos and when they thought I wasn’t around they were talking about watching me cause they were afraid I was going to steal something. Not cool. I didn’t finish looking and left.
They don’t allow medical expeditions for masks. Sorry some people can’t wear them and are already immune. Disgusting to force an elderly person with a medical exemption to put a mask on. The Atlanta zoo didn’t mind, aquarium didn’t mind, grocery stores don’t mind, because they understand not everyone is the same and it’s not okay to not allow someone access to your business because of their disability. Absolutely disgusting.
5. Musicalnotes Piano Studio
Address: 142 Box Car Way E, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
John sold me my first violin when I was 4, and he sold me my most recent Martin when I was in my 30’s. For new/used instruments, repairs, or lessons, John is the man. There is a reason people travel out of their way to visit this shop. Proud to call this my hometown music shop.
Best little instrument shop in the state.
I was disappointed with the repair work done on my guitar. It wasn’t a horrible job but it wasn’t a good job either.
The luthier wasn’t able to polish the frets because they didn’t have any high grit sandpaper so, I had to “polish” the frets with my strings from play wear and now my frets are “polished” very unevenly.
He seemed to do an okay job with the fret leveling and crowning but there are still some noticeable corners on about half of the fret edges and especially on the higher frets where people usually don’t play. (You can tell how he had it laid on the table because one side is relatively smooth and the other looks like it barely got any attention along with the nut which is just as sharp as before)
He also got multiple dings and scratches on my guitar neck. Which I personally don’t mind on the specific guitar I sent in, but I would be quite irritated if it happened to a higher end guitar. (It’s named ‘Rawhide’ which explains the guitar well)
So, pretty much I paid for an incomplete job where if I had the proper tools I could have done it myself and probably much better.
I’m not trying to start anything and I don’t want to get the Luthier in trouble, I just want to see quality work from the Luthier so *if* I ever bring in a higher end guitar I won’t have to sleep in fear worrying about possible damage.
My recommendation for the Luthier is if someone pays you to level, crown and polish frets, make sure you have ALL of the necessary tools and really take the time to do a good job on ALL of the frets. Also make sure to keep the guitar safe in the process.
If I had known what to expect for what I paid for, I would have pressed the Luthier to finish the job, but at the time I didn’t know what high quality frets were like.
Lastly, on an unrelated topic that really goes to personal preference, they require masks to enter the store, no exceptions. I don’t support being muzzled for a virus with a 99%+ survival rate and even 95%+ if you’re over the age of 70, where it’s so “deadly” you require a medical test just to see if you have it, and asymptomatic spread has been proven to be extremely rare, if not just another myth to keep us living in fear.
But to each their own.
Went to store this morning at ten after 11 and no one was there.
I’m very disappointed in this “business” we had taken a family heirloom to him to be repaired, he said it would take two weeks. Hey, great you got a deal. Let’s go ahead and pay for it so you will have the money on hand to pay for the parts and your time. Three weeks later we have to call and the guitar still isn’t finished. Four weeks later we call once again it’s still not done. I go to the “business” to see if it’s even been touched, and low and behold it had not. He had already told us that sales from other people come first with it being around the holidays. Wait wait so a sale that was already made gets placed last?! That was my daughter’s Christmas present as well to hear the guitar play once again that her papa had gave to her 10 years ago, then he pasted away. I will never trust this place again repairs or to buy from!
7. Fancy Flea
Address: 33 Hwy 53 W, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Super cute place with great prices and great customer service!!
very cute shop! Employees were extremely friendly and kind.
This store is amazing, such a hidden gem for rare “found items”, but also very elegant home furnishings and adorable baby gear. I put together a birthday gift for my daughter there and a great baby shower gift, also found some fabulous things for my home. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
8. Ponce De Leon Music Center
Address: 1060 Dahlonega Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Best music shop in town from classical instruments to double petals for drum kits
Good place for lessons and instrument maintenance. I have had them work on my guitars several times with no complaints. This last time they replaced strings and I was in a hurry and just paid and left. Getting some fret buzz from 5th and 6th strings that I would have noticed had I checked it out before leaving. My bad. Overall they are great people and do great work!
Staff was nice and knowledgeable. Pricing was a bit high but id do business there again.
I brought my daughters here, ones in high school and has been playing for a while and one is going into middle school and just beginning. While I would give the guys more stars they were amazing!! They had great service and went the extra mile to make sure my daughters were comfortable especially my new band student who is playing sax!!
The reason why I gave the music store 3 stars was because of the woman who works there. She comes off as pushy, bossy and gets really into peoples private business.. She had me really mad the day I went there.. I feel for the men who work there.
Had to make a quick stop to grab a few things. I know it was closing time. I was trying to make it quick. When they started harassing my husband reminding him when they close he left and we took our business somewhere else. Customers want to feel welcomed, not reminded how unfortunate you are to have to lock the door right at 5:00.
The customer service is awful I definitely won’t be back there every again
9. Days Gone By Vintage Market
Address: 58 GA-9 S, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
They are a wonderful family business. They are a shop online and I have always had great results from them from excellent products to absolutely top notched customer service.
I discovered this amazing business through Facebook. I wasn’t too wild about Vintage items until I started watching their live videos. After that, I couldn’t believe the amazing quality, prices and beautiful variety of items they have vendors come in and sell. The time and care they take packaging up my orders is also amazing, all of my ceramic, glass and other delicate items to ship, always arrive covered in layers of bubble wrap and other protective materials!!! I just can’t say enough good things about Days Gone By Vintage Market and the owners, Phillip, Joy and their precious little boy Sammy. All of them feel like family to me!!!!
DGB and all the vendors, you are the best!
Small store with mostly home decor, new items. Well merchandised with friendly staff.
A little pricy…a small store…but look carefully…there are some deals…you just need to look.
Lots of antiques of all sorts.
He is the most rudest and greediest businessman I’ve ever dealt with. Over priced, charges you to shop there, processing fees etc.. …just imagine they charge each customer this fee, which is a lot of money at the end of the day, and until recently they was charging their out of state customers Georgia taxes.
I had to make them stop charging me Georgia taxes because I didn’t live in the state of Georgia. He has never offered me back the tax money he took from me and probably hasn’t paid any other out of state customers back their tax money he took from them either. I think me knowing the e-commerce tax law and pointing out that to him, he has a rude attitude towards me. He has been doing this since he started the Facebook lives because of Covid.
I had to cancel a invoice because I couldn’t find it but I could only find the shipping invoice, instead of saying he can send me a new invoice he instead sent me a rude message then blocked me so I couldn’t respond. He said “ This seems to be a on going things for you to cancel orders. Please don’t shop if you can’t pay”
Their square had been down, and it had been more than 24 hours per their policy cancellation, so I thought it had been cancelled, and I couldn’t find the original invoice in my emails. Had he offered to send me another invoice I would have paid it like all the many other invoices I have paid for. I did have to cancel a few orders, because my card was hacked and I had found the same stuff on eBay for a lot cheaper and they didn’t charge me a processing fee etc…to shop with them.
He’s greedy and I want to save money when I can, lol
I love Joy and I hope and pray God blesses her for having to deal with him… that’s probably why the Lord gave her the job so she could leave there.
It was a lot better when she was there instead of him, lol.
He has a lot of people fooled, but I see though his hypocrisy. The love of money is the root of all evil. He loves money. You need to hit your knees more, instead of your wallet. I will pray for you, I pray God gives you more compassion and takes the evil of greediness out of you. Your not a nice person Phil, and done deep you know it’s the truth.. It’s the fruit you bare. I wouldn’t have gave them one star but had to in order to share the post.
Drove 45 minutes only for them to be closed 3 hours before posted time. No apparent reason. Won’t be coming back
10. Walmart Supercenter
Address: 98 Power Center Dr, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Siempre con los productos necesarios para el hogar y la buena cocina
They have anything you need. And it is easy to get to.
NOT ENOUGH CASHIERS
It’s a walmart. Not much else to say.
Worth the drive past the one in Dahlonega
Worse than ever
I’ve noticed the sizes and color are not very effective of love for Walmart to get their website more dependable the app has a lot of troubles other than those few bumps in the rd it’s all smooth sailing after I’m all checked out and looking forward to my Delicious order
Would never suggest buying jewelry from here as they do offer you to buy a warranty on your jewelry they WILL NOT return nor can you exchange it if something happens. Instead they tell you that your warranty is through all state and you have to call them to make a claim even though you purchased it at Walmart.Very RUDE Staff as well as 1 of the rudest mangers I have ever came across.Wow..Would definitely stay AWAY from the Dawsonville Walmart.
11. Goodwill Thrift Store & Donation Center
Address: 66 S 400 Center Ln, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Have to wear a mask but we didn’t mind since we are protecting others and ourselves.
Very friendly staff, seems to get a lot of donations pretty regularly.
Big, very organized and clean in appearance. My granddaughter was able to find a few designer surprises hidden here and there. I donate alot of good here and other Goodwill locations.
Easy access. Friendly people. Reasonable prices. Good selection
Very nice and the workers were very helpful
No sizes on mens pants. A lot of junk.
Piss poor service
Yall need to do better. Those bathrooms have not been cleaned in weeks. That is disgusting!
12. Marshalls
Address: 136 Marketplace Pkwy, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
This store was hustling, which kinda surprised me since it was such a rainy yucky day. I was specifically looking for rain ponchos (unrelated to the rain that day) so I didn’t really shop. I did see a couple of things I was interested in but the line was so long and nobody was keeping distance.
Good for the most important part…. price
Full of stuff you never knew you needed
Sorry, but this one’s an unorganized mess. I don’t know what could be done to turn it around but someone needs to figure it out before it’s too late.
No big deal
Horrible clothing store.
Cheap clothes (that look cheap).
No staff approached me. The were too busy gossiping out loud to each other for the world to hear.
13. Chateau Music Group
Address: 4075 Mini Trail, Cumming, GA 30041 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Both of my children take lessons here. Right now my son is taking drum lessons with Brett. My son really enjoys his lessons and is learning so much.
I love these guys! Great service and really nice! They carry some of the best stuff on the market. They also have competitive pricing and are open on Sundays! They also do guitar setups and repair 5 stars!
I was referred to Music Authority after moving to the area and wanting to continue with my music lessons. I was a little skeptical when I arrived as I’m used to larger big box music stores like Sam Ash and Guitar Center. 2 years later I’m still a happy customer. They have great instructors all with degrees in music and actively play in places of worship and/or gig professionally which was important to me. The staff is courteous and helpful and keeps me informed on what’s happening. They do have a retail merchandise space in the front of the store that offers what I’d call a light to medium selection of quality guitars, amps, drums and equipment/accessories (NOTE: no DJ/lighting equipment, keyboards, recording or HS band equipment here). It’s very convenient after a lesson to shop and pick up those must haves. I’ve bought many things including a guitar that I’m very happy with. They’re knowledgeable, stand by their merchandise and even offer special incentives that the larger stores don’t. They have a repair and service shop that I’ve yet to use but would if needed. Don’t let me forget all the things this place does for young musicians like summer rock camps, concerts, jam nights, open mic nights and more. I wish I had access to a music organization like this one when I was a kid… I’d be a better musician today if I did. Yes, I recommend this place.
Went in for a purchase. Didn’t end up buying, but one of the owners assisted me and had a lot of knowledge to offer. People came in and out for lessons and they were all treated very well… you can see the passion. The store could use a bit of updating, which is the primary reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
My 10 yr old daughter and I take piano lessons at Music Authority. Our instructor, Brooke, along with a lot of practice, has taken us from zero musical experience to reading and playing the piano in a few short months.
We enjoy the lessons each week and we learn something at each one. Our instructor is a gifted teacher. She changes up the lesson plans so throughout our lsns, and at home practice, we learn music theory, practice skills exercises, and learn songs. It pushes us to go further but doesn’t overwhelm.
If your looking to learn an instrument or two, this is a good place to start. Music camps and performances are offered as well. You can get as involved as you want.
baD
We tried to set up a single trial music lesson for our son. They would not set up lessons unless we provided an email and were quite rude about it to boot. We have too many companies that abuse the privilege of having our email and we end up getting spammed so we do not give out our email easily. But for them to insist that they have it as a condition of providing a service like piano lessons is a big red flag for us.
I purchased a Les Paul signature from them, as well as several other things. They really are not concerned about there customers, I asked for a tech to look at the neck and fret board after a few months of owning it and got the same attitude. That was 3 yrs ago. I use to buy strings there also, But no more. Best Buy’s has great deals on strings of all types….
See ya Music authority
15. NLB Thrift Store & Donation Center – Dawsonville
Address: 78 Dawson Village Way N, Dawsonville, GA 30534 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
Met miss Jennifer gunn today at the sidewalk sale have to say she is by far the sweetest person I e ever met. I thank God everyday for people like her
Has fair prices pretty good selection on men’s clothing and supports an amazing cause.
I’ve donated and purchased several items at this location. There are all kinds of household items for sale ranging from full furniture sets to pictures and mirrors. They also have a ton of clothing for men, women, and children. The staff is always nice and they use their profits for a great cause.
First visit here. We were very impressed with the layout of this store. Each dept. has well placed items. Glassware and china are neatly displayed. Prices are very reasonable.
Too high priced. Saw one small glass coffee cup that had a price tag of 15.99. Nothing thrifty about that price
Great selection however the prices are sky high
16. ellis vintage music online sales
Address: 6230 Creekstone Path, Cumming, GA 30041 , Dawsonville , Georgia , United States
This is a great coffee shop to stop at if you find yourself in or around Dawsonville, GA. The staff is super friendly and makes great recommendation. I wish there was one closer to the city.
I’m not from here I live 35 minutes away, and not a bog coffee drinker I walked in to a young gentleman Ty excellent young man had a 10 minute conversation great great customer service
I will be back just because of him he needs a raise and praise.
Great coffee and great people I high recommend this place
I did not like it, not my cup of coffee, so to speak. I’d rather have Dunkin’ donuts.
Beautiful atmosphere with a nice vibe inside but the drip coffee was meh. Got a dark roast that was watery and lukewarm. Was there in the afternoon so would’ve appreciated a heads up that they needed to make more fresh drip or a suggestion to order an espresso based drink instead. And the woman who got my coffee order used her bare hands to put the lid on… seems not terribly sanitary and that customers should be able to do this themselves. I’ll give it another try if I can get there in the morning for fresher coffee and hope I just got there at an “off” time cause I love having independent shops around.
Not enough tables inside on a late Thursday morning, iced coffee was okay. Little pricey at over $5 for a medium drip.
Guys working were very nice.
Drinks were terrible! My chia with almond milk was so strong and the froth tasted like burnt milk. When I complained about the drink I was not offered something else or given a refund. This place is way over priced for the quality of drinks and the service. I will NOT be a repeat customer!
They need sugar free syrups!
