I have never seen a brick and mortar store with a jazz selection this good.
Just a shockingly amazing selection.
So far the best music store in Atlanta if not the whole state of Georgia. Large cd and vinyl selection. Everything is well organized. I don’t have to break my head trying to look for a specific artist or genre. If they don’t have what you’re looking for then just ask the nice man in front desk to order it for you. This place is officially my favorite music store
They know music and will order anything you want and typically can get it within 24 hours!
We will return ! Great prices !
One of my favorite Vinyl spots. I make it a point to stop by once a month and I have yet to leave with out at least one purchase.
Support your local independent record store! Needs more vinyl to garner 5 stars
Still requires a mask even though nobody else does. Well guess I’ll spend money elsewhere.
Dude working there is a tool. Very condescending to his customers
I bought vinyl from this location off & on for a few years. SO I had some vinyl to sell & called this location to see if they are interested in buying. Called before I left home which takes me around 2 hours to travel on public transportation. I arrived there finally. The guy in the white beard was the guy who was there. I asked will they buy them, he told me that the guy who usually check them went to the post office & he will be back. But he decided to look at them himself. Took a quite a few & set them aside. While he was doing this, this took about 10 plus minutes to do so while I’m still waiting for “THE GUT WHO USUALLY CHECKS & APPROVES THEM”. While he gives me a uncomfortable looks, he ask where did I buy them at? I replied “some from here & some from other locations. Does that matter if they are in good shape? As I’m still waiting for “THE GUY” after all of this time, I believe he makes up some kind of lie & just all of a sudden says, “he’s not interested” all of a sudden. Hmmmm. Why have me waste my time “waiting” for this mystery guy to show up & he makes a executive decision? Also, after all of this he tells me he’s the owner. Some kind of owner acting totally different them when I walked in at 1st. Now he has a temper which I’m still trying to figure out where did his aggression come from? I spent good money at this location to be treated like a a nobody. His actions were too familiar, especially “DEEP SOTH” familiar. But now that I know how he feels towards certain customers, I will NEVER recommend anyone to come to this location. Might as well fly a rebel flag over this store. That’s how he or they really feels about they’re customers. These kinds of places should NEVER BE IN BUSINESS.
5. Guitar Decatur
Address: 117 N McDonough St, Decatur, GA 30030 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
Have 3 kids in 3 different lessons with 3 different teachers and we love them all.
My son has been taking piano with Nick for a few years now, starting when he was about 6 years old. He LOVES it. He is always excited to go to his lessons. The location is very convenient and they have always been flexible with scheduling if something comes up. I would highly recommend!
ED- What an awesome guy! Super knowledgeable, so kind- enjoyed our chats so much! Thank you for being you! Would recommend 100 times over for anyone needing lessons! #humanityvet
I had asked the General manager or owner if they taught guitar bass lessons and yes they do. First unpleasant surprise I got that this teacher had injured his forearms or wrists that he could not play, so he couldn’t show me anything. By the third lesson he got me so confused in the scale patterns (major or minor) that I had to look up what he was talking about and it was way ahead of the basic concepts of intervals, scales and scale degrees! Not happy wi this!!
6. Village Music
Address: 114 N Avondale Rd, Avondale Estates, GA 30002 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
I wanted to sell my friend’s guitar and Nick explained the pros and cons of the instrument in great detail. I was very happy with my conversation with them.
Great people at a great store!
W W! Guitars, percussion, strings, keyboards, brass, woodwinds lessons, books, vinyl, repairs… in such a cool store, close to home.
Called the store 3 times before arriving employee was sitting down on his phone when I walked in so I’m assuming the phone is not connected in the store.
First time guitar owner needing new strings put on was told to bring in my guitar and stings in from the car.
When I came back in I was to he’s no expert and someone could get to it later.
Not a big deal at all I just wish I would have know that before driving over and being told to go grab my item from my vehicle.
I visited this store which was rated as a great pace to sell vinyl records. Well I agreed to sell some of my records for a paltry $25 to be received via cash app, even though the clerk told me the owner has a habit to forget things, but I was assured my money would’ve be sent the same night or next morning. Still have not received my payment. Extremely unprofessional especially for such a small amount of money. Extremely disappointing and dissatisfied and would advise against utilizing this service
7. Marshall’s Piano Shop
Address: 225 Oak Ln, Decatur, GA 30030 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
My daughter has been attending TR music since she was 5. After 4 consecutive years of both singing and dance, we are amazed at both her confidence level and skills. Highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a place where their child will develop a love for music and dance.
The staff here are extremely friendly to even the least knowledgeable music lovers (me). They answered any and all questions with a smile on their face and I really appreciated that.
I appreciate the way this instructor tailors his lessons to my interests and skill level. He’s not just a teacher but a mentor who genuinely wants to see his students succeed.
this place does not exist and never has. Somebody identified it as of a music instructor affiliated with Taylor Robinson music, but there is no such place at this location.
9. Hart’s Arts & Guitars
Address: 3305 Bobbie Ln, Decatur, GA 30032 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
Dropped my guitar by for a little work and it sounds and looks dramatically better. Thank you!
I stopped in because I had 2 issues with a trumpet. Because of a tight timeline they could only fix one issue. I was still happy they were able to fix one issue, but they refused to take any payment because they didnt get it perfect. These are some honest guys and I am truly thankful for the work they do. You can’t go wrong with AME.
Great place!
I spoke with the most racist person that I’ve come across in a long time, I think it was the owner. My child called the store on the 4th of July (several times because he is a child and did not realize that businesses are actually closed on the 4th of July). I was unaware that he called so many times. The following day I received a VERY nasty and distasteful message on my voicemail. When I returned the call, I wasn’t even given a chance to speak. He was yelling, using profanity and hung up on me. I will definitely tell everyone I know not do business here and I do not recommend doing business here (especially people of color). I will also post it on my social media pages. There are far too many Music stores that actually respect their customers.
After looking at other reviews, it seems that the owner is just a jerk by nature. I didn’t even see any responses to good reviews, only negative ones. So apparently you enjoy tounge wrestling. I feel sorry for the people that have to deal with you daily. Bless you anyway sir.
Update: Every business was NOT closed. I didn’t call my son did several times. You left a nasty vm on MY phone. And who has no class?? It’s definitely you…
I found the owner to be very unfriendly. I will shop elsewhere. I don’t like to feel like I am bothering someone when I’m spending my money.
Horrible Customer service and NOT HELPFUL!! Instead of helping we with appropriate prices for my gear, I was ridiculed by the prices I thought might be appropriate. A ‘good luck with selling your stuff at those prices’ is all I got. I don’t appreciate the attitude and lack of consideration. All they could have said was ‘those prices are higher than market currently…have you thought of selling them for $$$$?’. Unfortunately the response I got causes me to NEVER want to shop at this place. Sellers BEWARE.
11. Rick’s Pianos
Address: 748 Dalerose Ave, Decatur, GA 30030 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
We bought our beautiful piano a few years ago from Rick and he has come out to the house and serviced it since. He has been nothing but kind and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to my friends in a heartbeat.
Rick has always done a great job tuning and moving pianos for me. Very nice, and reasonable rates
Rick is an honest, smart, and hard working man. Rick sold me my first upright piano. He took so much care and effort in restoring the piano, covering some pieces in felt and adjusting and tuning it after delivering it. This is a guy who is committed to his craft, something we don’t see much nowadays. Thank you, Rick! I was sent to Rick by my piano teacher, Ross Marshall.
Lots of pianos and good on repairs
The address needs to be updated in Google.
Rick is not a nice guy. Thinks the sun revolves around him. Will be taking my Steinway somewhere else.
12. Decatur Music Project
Address: 117 N McDonough St, Decatur, GA 30030 , Decatur , Georgia , United States
Probably the best record store in Atlanta. Best record store I’ve ever personally been to. It’s juust great. The service is great (the people working there are very polite and helpful), everything is very neatly organized so if you’re looking for something specific you can find it easily, the selection was very good (They have the largest and best selection of 45s I’ve ever seen), and on top of everything, I had just bought around 8 records and after paying, I saw a 45 that I wanted for 1 dollar, but I didn’t have any more cash on me. The man just says “Merry Christmas” and gives it to me for free. I could spend hours in there. What a great store.
Wuxtry is my favorite record store in Atlanta, or at least ties with Records Galore in Clarkston. The selection here is outstanding, both in used and new LPs and used CDs. Every time I walk in, I leave with a purchase. Been loving this store my whole life.
Excellent selection of vinyl.
Nothing personal they just didn’t have a big enough hip hop cd selection.
They have a favorite of mine for years. They have a nice selection of used stock with a good amount of new pressings. The staff is nice and knowledgeable. Check them out!
Found a couple of gems here, walked out with 6 albums for $20. Plenty to look at, and it was quite crowded.
It’s harder to find two more rude people in Atlanta. But I keep trying to give the shop a chance over and over but I’m done. last trip… Not that they would even care.
The Guy who works here is a total jerk. He swiped my card 3 times and it caused 3 pending charges. I called the store with my bank to clear up the extra pending charges and he told us that he did not have time to deal with it.. Thank you for being Mr. Grinch…..
Rude the The gentleman barely looked at any of the records that I had brought in for more than two seconds before passing on majority of them and buying maybe four . I wasn’t looking to get a whole lot for what I had brought in but from reading the other reviews I thought that I may have a chance at getting something worth my while not eight bucks
My initial phone conversation was unpleasant as it seemed I was interrupting the owner’s busy day. I realized that he was knowledgeable and so I went against my initial impression. My visit was quite the opposite. The staff was very helpful and guided my choices. I would recommend that you use their products and services especially if you’re like myself (parent of a new music student)
Very nice people. AAA Service
Instrument rental and returns are easy, simple and hassle free.
Very nice people.
Repairs are a bit expensive but worth it.
The ABSOLUTE WORST customer service EVER!!!!!! EVER, EVER, EVER!!! I have NEVER had anyone yell at me that is supposed to be providing a service. NEVER! You are taking this neighborhood for granted and it will stop. You should be ashamed.
It’s a small business so they may be used to certain things. Sometimes phone calls go unanswered. Sometimes, they step out without a note. I got the instrument from a flyer from my son’s school. You dnt have to make payments to them if you rent your instrument so you don’t really deal with century music like that. They really are sweet though, the 2 ppl I have encountered.
they keep lying about there time they need to update it
