I haven’t been to Steve’s since I left Orange City in 2008 but it is good to see that this legendary store is still up and running and hopefully has many more years to come
Steve is a amazing human. I’ve been going to Steve’s Downtown Music for 15 yrs. now and he has always been stellar and has maintained the coolest record store Deland ever and will ever have. I’ve had photo shoots and music videos shot here, bought my first records and posters as a kid and met many cool people. This shop should be a Deland treasure.
Great place to pick up great sounds.
Good place for used music
Nice people find music
My kind of music store. Old, dusty, a little smelly but in a good way. So much of everything.
Expensive and poor quality
Owner was very rude and berated us for standing in one section for too long. Also ironically “thanked” us for our business when we didn’t purchase anything. Store was also very dirty and disorganized.
The owner was rude, personally insulted my husband and made rude, mumbled remarks for no apparent reason. He was apparently upset that we visited another record store in town before going to his store. We were just walking the little strip this little town has for shopping so the order we went was just random. Then when my husband asked for one band, he showed him a completely different other band’s merchandise. My husband tried to make conversation, but the man seemed to want to compete about music collections? He also called my husband “cheap” because we bought cds for $1 elsewhere. We were just spending a nice day shopping as a family on vacation. Very strange way to treat visitors. Weird. Also, no AC in the store – hot as hell in there. There are two records stores on this street – this is definitely not the “good one”.

We’re so blessed to have found Daphne and Music for the Ages! My daughter has been learning piano with Daphne for the past year and I have watched her confidence as a performer and musician grow *so quickly*. At my child’s first recital, there were students who had been learning with Daphne for only a few weeks before performing in front of an audience! I felt that sent such empowering message not only to those beginner students, but to the rest of us, that music is for everyone and that all levels and stages are meant to be celebrated and appreciated.
Mrs. Danielson is an amazing teacher! I have learned so much from her over the years and she has helped me excel in piano and achieve my music goals.
Our kids love Daphne! She is incredibly so very patient with both of our kiddos. They are learning so much from her.

Very clean, organized, great selection, great quality records and reasonably priced. The staff are lovely, personable and helpful. There is a sweet dog named Danko too so that is always a plus!
A doorway to the past..you will find what your looking for…very pleasant service..worth your time to browse
Very good and fast service for me and I got the part I went for
So far customer service has been great. Friendly staff and willing to help. Will do another posting after my truck gets repaired.
This place is a throwback to the neighborhood record shop. Their collection of vintage albums was so cool! I’ll be back!
One of my most favourite places to visit for good music and quality instruments.
Decent selection, but wayyy overpriced for things. Ambiance is cool, but the lady working there wouldn’t leave me alone to look and kept trying to push things on me that i didnt want to buy.
Updated review: After two visits, and one demeaning phone call, I am retracting my glowing review of Groovy Records. And no, Jerry, it was not because you wouldn’t take two of my LPs towards a store credit. It was your snobbish attitude on the phone. You made me feel like a broke teenager, by crowing how two items for a store credit was beneath you.
Go and check out Groovy Records, if you like. Just realize that you won’t know which Jerry is going to be running the place. I won’t be returning. Check out the other low reviews. You’ll see that this is not an isolated incident. I didn’t want to believe the reviews after first going to Groovy. On the second visit, and then the phone call, it all became clear.
In two visits, I spent nearly $80.00. My vinyl budget is only $300.00 per month. Sorry for being such a ‘low end’ customer, Jerry. It must be nice to have such elite clientele, that you alienate us little people. Even those who have a voracious passion for vinyl. It’s a shame, really.
Nice selection but expensive prices. Seemed to be a lot of emphasis on vintage stuff geared toward collectors. I’m just looking for stuff to throw on the turn table and listen to and not admire the quality of the sleeve or care what year it was pressed. Anyway, lots of record stores where you can pick up lots of $10 stuff. This isn’t one of them.

Emma was an amazing teacher! She’s very understanding and makes sure your posture is correct so you won’t be hurting in the future haha! She’s very professional! Thank you Emma!
Jay was so kind and welcoming to my 5 year old. It was a great new experience for us both and we were sad to leave due to a move. I highly recommend Jay for piano lessons!
I enjoyed my lessons with Jay. I’m a self-taught guitarist who knows chords and can riff some, but music theory has escaped my grasp. I signed up to learn about finding a key, scales, modes, and how it all works together. In my first month, Jay helped unlock that information and got me moving out the starting gate. I feel it was informative and helpful.
