My experience with Chris was incredible. He is professional, experienced, and an amazing person to work with! He took such good care of our creative ideas to make our project happen. We will be working with Chris again!
Where to begin? My seventeen year-old recently played some of her original songs for me and I said to myself, “this kid needs to be recorded.” I decided to give her some studio time as a gift, but where? I asked around Salt Lake City and heard the same answer again and again: Marmalade Music.
Chris is a consummate pro. This was my daughter’s very first time being professionally recorded. It can be an intimidating process, even for a seasoned pro, but Chris made her feel comfortable and confident from the start. Both a highly skilled musician and engineer, Chris’ musical instincts are spot-on. My daughter recorded eight tracks with Chris, and every one of them absolutely shines. If you’re serious about your craft and you’re looking to record a first-class project, choose Marmalade Music. I can’t recommend them strongly enough.
Chris is awesome! It’s always nerve wracking sharing something as personal as music with anyone, but he is upbeat and encouraging, which makes it easy.

Warren is so gosh darn helpful and nice. Just helped me with getting a beautiful entry mandolin, answered all my questions, put up with a bad joke or two, and went above and beyond to help me out over the phone. Many thanks!
Super friendly and knowledgeable.

Jimmy’s music was very nice store however seemed understaffed.
Good local music, guitar store
Cute store pack with tons of things.
Had my mind set on buying a new piano keyboard and supporting this local music store in Durango and to know that the workers (maybe even the owners) don’t know how to treat their customers is very disappointing. When I walked in I wasn’t greeted, even after a few minutes I wasnt asked how I was doing or IF I NEEDED HELP FINDING ANYTHING. I know what you’re thinking “maybe he was busy” nooooo! Because there was another worker there and no one else was in the store. I wasn’t addressed or anything until I was about to leave. I know I’m an adult and maybe I should have just asked him myself but if I’m gonna spend a few hundred dollars at your store then I’d expect to be treated like it let alone be WELCOMED INTO THE STORE! But my question is why? Did I not looked like a serious buyer? Was it cause I was wearing a mask? Or was it cause I was brown? My questions are valid and justified through the actions of the workers. Sad to know that people are treated differently for whatever reason. Such a bad impression on the community and very disappointing experience.
They did not have what we were looking for.

Excellent tightly wound strings! On a par with expensive boutique strings but priced like D’Addarios.
I’ve been playin’ a long time on good guitars. OMG, as good as a 55 yr old martin sounds, your accoustic strings make it sing like never before! Wow is an understatement! high, mid and low end just ring rich and robust! Thanks for quality as great as the instruments themselves! On my first set,
and hands down, my new first choice in strings, now and ever more!

Dave tuned my first guitar. He repaired my second one. He did a perfect job. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do work on my guitar. Much call for repairs!!
Another place in town “repaired” my guitar bridge, but I got it back with glue everywhere and it still popped off shortly after. Dave did a beautiful job putting it back on and making sure it isn’t going anywhere again for a great price. He was very knowledgable and helpful. Definitely recommend!
I’ve known Dave for 20 or so years. I picked up the guitar 7 years ago when I found an acoustic at a garage sale. Being new to the game, I failed to notice it had a separated bridge. Dave fixed it for me and it’s held up to this day.
The last repair I had him do was on an electric I bought earlier this year. Dave put another switch for tone in it and rewired the whole thing. Worth every penny! So if you are a serious musician who needs things done right, Dave Osborne is your man!
I thank god for my few friends!!
Not trust worthy, I took a violin. You chipped it, it was not tuned and stings are slipping. And please do not contact me thru Facebook. The instrument was brand new had no chips. No it was not high quality although is worth more than you claim it to be. You did not deliver quality work, I will not be going back to you. Have a splendid day sir.
12. The Music Shoppe
Address: 136 E Pagosa St #11, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147 , Dolores County , Colorado , United States
Very knowledgeable, personable, and great selection! Also offers lessons
Carl is very knowledgeable and great teacher
Incredibly helpful and non pretentious. I felt at ease here and wanted to come back instead of feeling pressured to buy something. Great prices on repairs or modifications
Carl has opened a beautiful new shop!
Very knowledgeable, nice selection .
For a small town, this place is amazing. The owner knows so much and has helped me as an artist. Nice instruments for good prices. But this time I only needed some drum sticks, that where less than expected, I may add.
Musical equipment is overpriced amazon deals from Christmas. Owner is a nice guy, but was clearly just trying to sell more expensive items over cheaper arguably better ones. “Handmade” strings snapped within the hour, I have a hard time believing the Ernieball strings would have any problem. Sadly though I listened to the worker who assured me that they were the worst. Overall I recommend just driving to Durango you’d end up saving money and not being treated as if you haven’t been playing guitar correctly your entire life.
13. Pete Giuliani Music
Address: 4879 Co Rd 240, Durango, CO 81301 , Dolores County , Colorado , United States
Pete has been extremely supportive of our new young musician. He has helped our son keep a positive attitude and to explore the music that keeps him interested and motivated. We are grateful to have a musician with his skills and range interested in lessons for beginning players.
I never thought I would be able to play the guitar even though it has been a lifelong dream of mine ( as I am pretty old! +60) . Pete has helped make this dream come true and I appreciate him and his teaching style so much. He designs lessons based on what you want to learn to play and is very encouraging while at the same time able to give honest feedback so you can gain insights to your own playing at every lesson. I highly recommend Pete to anyone who is thinking of wanting to learn to play the guitar, no matter what your age!
Pete is a rare kind of instructor; He teaches all ages and levels, he is experienced as a singer, songwriter and professional performer, both solo and with groups. He can rapidly decode a song from a recording or youtube video and then transpose it for the student’s immediate use. His personal repertory is massive.
As teacher he is very tuned in to his students needs and learning styles, and he can play most styles/types of music. He reads music fluently and can teach theory, but does not require it in his students. He will tweek his teaching technique to help us along.
I have enjoyed my lessons, and learned immensely from Pete.

New to the spot. Scooter is a serious pro. Berkley grad and very professional. The sound quality speaks for itself.
Scooter’s Place has great equipment, a fantastic space and a very easy to work with and knowledgable sound technician is Scott “Scooter”. I recommend it to anyone in the Durango area looking to make a professional album.
16. From Our Heart Thrift Store
Address: 301 E Main St, Cortez, CO 81321 , Dolores County , Colorado , United States
Super cute store, super friendly staff! Always a pleasant experience!
Such a fun place to find good deals! The staff is so friendly, and I always find great bargains. It is clean and everything is arranged so nicely!
Great place to shop in Dolores, a little something for everyone! Super affordable prices for nice quality items. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed!
Quick and easy place to find the little things
I used to really love this thrift store. The woman who generally works the register is so sweet and friendly, but last time I went in neither she or the other woman working we’re wearing masks and showed no intention of doing so. I want to support business that keep the health and safety of their communities in mind.
I find the store to be really cluttered and not easy to move around and look at items. I thought some items were really over priced. I bought a small (china) tea pot and the lid did not fit and the spout on the pot was chipped. I found they had items spread all over the store nothing was very organized.

Nice selection of record store day black f riday releases. Very friendly owners.
Nice selection of new records. Lots of stuff that tends to sell out in Denver.
A+ shopping bin flipping experience. Love affordable
Great store, lots of music, plenty of stringed instruments.
Limited selection, average prices
I’ve heard good things about it but I was upstairs at pug Ryan’s bar
Sells broken products. Very expensive.
Owner is a racist. He harassed my friend for shopping while black , four times AFTER he bought a CD. We went outside and had to show the police his recite.
Great place to shop if you are worried someone is impersonating you. Don’t shop there if you are black, he might call the cops.
A shambles. Nothing affordable. Maybe okay for guitars, but not music. Looks like a yard sale gone bad. Used vinyl is poor quality, C- vinyl and covers disorganized and twice the price of Denver. Boxes of unsorted records strewn about. New stuff is full list price. Not worth the effort of stopping. Waste of time
20. Rocky Mountain One Stop
Address: 330 N Broadway, Cortez, CO 81321 , Dolores County , Colorado , United States
Donna and Matt are an asset to the community, let alone what the store does for it! Best music store in the country.
Loved this shop for years. Love you guys
Magic the gathering in cortez, very good store with fair prices. Good competitive modern and standard crowss too
Does it sell rc cars
Good poeple and good service.
Love this place
Small selection, over priced for bad items
It just wasn’t my thing. My friend dragged me there against my will.
I really regret sharing this review. I actually love Rocky Mountain One Stop, but their prices take advantage of their customers. I went to purchase a guitar for my husband about 10 years ago, and Not only was it more expensive than Guitar Center, which is totally understandable and I would have accepted had it been at suggested retail price, but it was actually $50 over suggested retail price. That’s too much for me. I respect that it’s hard in a small town and they can’t always offer deals that some corporation like Guitar Center can offer, but on the other hand, going not only $50 over the lowered price of Guitar Center, but $50 over the suggested retail price in addition, well $100 extra is too much for me to pay for that to sit on their shelves. I don’t think that I have ever shopped there again unfortunately. I don’t like to pay more than an item is worth. Because they were overcharging for the guitar, I did go to Guitar Center. I would much rather have spent $50 extra and gotten it at Rocky Mountain One Stop, a local mom and pop store, but there wasn’t anybody that was going to convince me that I should pay $100 more, in effect $50 more than the guitar was worth.
