All kinds of neat Instruments music and collectible items there my first time to get tar Center was a blast
They have the most things out to play with, usually a couple of great guitars offered too
Great customer service
Well stocked and staff is helpful
Website choice is much richer than in store. Consider making an order or calling in advance if you are looking for something specific.
As a drummer I’m a little disappointed with the selection of gear and accessories. There used to be a much larger section dedicated to different cymbals, drums, etc., but they have since downscaled. Prices aren’t great either, usually amazon is cheaper or as good. If you’re in a rush and need something quick they’ll probably have it though.
Filthy disorganized messy store. Unable to locate merchandise, lots and lots of empty shelves, lots of employees standing around doing nothing while there is trash all over the floors and parking lot. Merchandise just piled up in corners. Simple transaction took FAR to long to complete and they did not have even basic stuff in stock. I will drive all the way across town to a different music store next time I need gear.
First of all, this place is almost impossible to reach. The streets around it push you right into a traffic nightmare. The parking lot was a ghost town, I walked in to find about eight people working, but nobody paying any attention to me, even though I was the only customer in evidence. Lastly, I had a tiny little piece of a classical guitar broken, they had a technical expert, but they were unable to give me the very common piece that I needed, Instead I had to buy an entire set of tuning pegs and hardware. I would expect this and some tiny little out-of-the-way music shop, but this place was huge and stocked with thousands of things… why can’t they keep in stock something the size of a dime? because they’d rather sell me 18 bucks worth of hardware rather than the $0.10 piece that I needed.
Went here to buy a 4u equipment rack. No guitar center in town had one. It’s kind of depressing how you can’t get the basic stuff we use in the music industry at these places any more.

I’ll be back , for sure . ✨ ♾
Interesting store
In my element soon as I touched down S/O DJ Mega
i have been trying to get in contact with someone at the store for the past few days its very tiring to send emails about your repair what is going on with the phone line
They were closed when it said they are open on Google.
Called the store looking for a power supply for a midi controller. I had a beat set in a couple of hours. The guy who answered the phone was Nope, no thanks. Money spent somewhere else.
on this 12/11/2017 I never felt so disrespected and lied to I called in before with the correct item and verified over over and now upon arrival the price is $$$$ extremely high I rather purchase on amazon better yet eBay
7. Big House Guitars
Address: 2323 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30324 , Druid Hills , Georgia , United States
All the guys at big house guitars were exceptionally knowledgeable and willing to trade stories back and forth. Highly recommend for all your vintage guitar and bass needs
This place is crazy cool.
I sold Russ a vintage bass and I am super satisfied with my experience. The payment and shipping details were clearly spelled out and followed exactly. I would have no hesitation buying or selling again in the future with Big House Guitars. Thanks guys.
Beautiful collection of guitars on sale and consignment, plus a pretty decent record shop!
Had a lot of records that haven’t been put out or put in sections.
The staff was very friendly and very attentive. All the gear seems to be in great condition, but overall the prices are a too high for this musician’s budget. Watch out for that undisclosed “checkout fee” 😉
I can’t say that I have been in this place, and most likely will not ever visit, since the owners think it’s appropriate to use FOUL LANGUAGE in their Craigslist postings. My kids like to peruse the musical instruments ads on Craigslist, and I for one do not appreciate them being exposed to that kind of language on a public and FREE classifieds board. I am currently pursuing the matter with CL.
The owner of this business scams customers online making false claims regarding the authenticity and value of his Guitars. Have a luthier you trust look over your next axe from this con-artist.
Went to Big House for son’s 24th birthday present: his first ever guitar. Unfortunately this is not the place for that. If you’re not an experienced guitarist, expect to get dropped like a hot potato.
The chillest record store I have ever been in. There’s always something going on and the music selection is great!
BOOK SIGNING FOR JESSICA NICOLE . HAD A GREAT TIME !!!
Pretty good vibe when you walk in! I use to frequent this place several years ago but it’s changed a lot! No complaints about the change- I can get jiggy with it.
Cool little place in a bustling section of town, you’re sure to find something you like.
Nice stop and great vibe.
Nice venue
I love this store. Really do. Best record shop with an amazing Black music selection in all of Atlanta in my opinion. But on three occasions I’ve experienced not being communicated with by whoever was working the register that day, my guess unfortunately being homophobia. When I, a feminine presenting woman, go in by myself things are generally fine. Small conversation is sparked, I’m greeted, and I’m asked if I need help, etc. However when I am visiting with a masculine presenting or trans partner/friend we’re given a noticeable cold shoulder. We’re stared at but not greeted, we’re not attended to, we’re practically invisible. It’s so off-putting because the selection is great, the store is beautiful, and I love supporting Black businesses. I’m not sure if the store supports homophobic views, but I think whoever is at the register (it’s not the same person every time) should be kinder to all customers regardless of their personal beliefs.
Unfortunately I have to share my negative experience with moods music as a vendor. I too had been a patron of Moods Music since the early 2000’s so late last year when Moods offered small vendors a pop up shop opportunity I jumped at the chance. Mr. Daryl states that he loved my product and offered me a consignment opportunity which I eagerly accepted. Shortly there after as I began to do business Mr. Daryl’s tone, presence and treatment of me declined and became increasingly disrespectful. On several occasions his behavior was rude and curt. I have and was always respectful to Mr. Daryl but I’m not sure what the issue was. If you are an independent vendor I suggest not doing a consignment agreement with this this establishment. You are better off creating mutual business partnerships with genuine and respectful business owners. Unfortunately he isn’t one. I wish the store all the success and best in business moving forward but Mr. Daryl’s selective treatment of individuals is and was very offensive.
I paid $35 for Jazzy nights to see jazz singer Jasmine. Supposedly it included a glass of wine – which I never received. She could really sing but she came out and sang ONE song and said im going to give everyone their money back! The show was listed at starting at 7pm bit didn’t start until 8:30 ( that would have been a good time to serve wine while we waited for an hour and a half. I’m still waiting for my $35 back! Don’t go!!!
12. Voss Violins LLC
Address: Ponce Spring Lofts, 620 Glen Iris Dr NE UNIT 104, Atlanta, GA 30308 , Druid Hills , Georgia , United States
I love this shop. They are always very knowledgable, personable, and helpful. Very customer oriented.
My daughter need a violin repair. They were very knowledgeable, prompt and professional.
The people at Voss violins were super nice, they have really good stuff… Cellos look amazing, and good cuallity bows. I really recommend it.
I don’t write bad reviews but this has stuck with me and truly bothered me.
I set an appointment 2 weeks out which is fair enough they are busy etc, my appointment was at 1 in the afternoon, I ended up coming 15 mins early, it was starting to rain so I tried turning the doorknob to see if I would be able to put my cello case inside, S. Voss then opens the door and from word one she is unbelievably rude to me for the whole time I was there. I told her I knew I was early and I was happy to wait, but she had to tell me I interrupted her lunch, where I said again very kindly I would be happy to wait as I knew I was early , “Why are you here?” She said. I told her I had a cello she had worked on about 20 years ago with a crack that had opened. There are so many things I would like to say here, but she tells me my cello is worthless and she is “ ethically “ opposed to working or fixing the cello at all … the cello is from the mid to late 1600’s and is an amazing cello, and very worth saving. There is no bass bar crack, no sound post crack, the crack that had open was later fixed with a much kinder luthier and was not a huge deal to fix. My cello is doing great now etc, however when I was talking to Voss I said “ I’m a recording artist and I still record with this.” She then asked me “Why” in a extremely condescending / rude way. The hubris, snobbery and rudeness was unbelievable. I have been to the higher end shops all over the US, nyc , Chicago , etc etc. I have never been treated like this, I know I don’t look like I have money, or your typical cello player, but I do make music professionally, and I will say I remained kind the entire appointment. Leaving feeling awful. There is no reason to treat people that unkind. Especially from a shop that more or less looks like it’s in a collage apartment, honestly any other string shop in the atlanta area is nicer, not only in aesthetics, but in temperament. I dare say this appointment was borderline abusive. We should not support shops that do not treat people equally.
13. Opus
Address: 308 W Ponce de Leon Ave suite d, Decatur, GA 30030 , Druid Hills , Georgia , United States
So glad to have stumbled across this gem! Nice little shop with friendly workers! Huge selection of sheet music for any instrument and a nice grand piano to practice your tunes before you purchase! The woman and man running the shop are so friendly and knowledgeable, kind to me and always have grate hospitality. Do stop by if you are able!
Great selection of music and friendly service!
Great sheet music store and, sadly, one of the few remaining. Crammed full of music!
Disappointing
Friendly and clean.
I try to avoid writing negative reviews of businesses because I understand that reviews can affect people’s livelihoods and I take that seriously. In this instance I feel compelled to report my experience with Opus Music due to the owner’s gross irresponsibility.
My son dropped off 18 high quality classical music scores with David to be reviewed for purchase on June 21. They were delivered in immaculate condition in a corrugated cardboard box which also had a rolled up paper shopping bag in the end to keep the books in place. I spoke with David on the phone on the day that they were dropped off and he expressed unquestionable interest in buying the books but said that they would need to be evaluated for price. I suggested that he just hold onto them and evaluate them at his convenience. I heard nothing back from him for a couple weeks so I called to see if he had a chance to look at them and left a message. After a few more days I called again and left another message asking him to check back with me and let me know what he was thinking. Over the next few weeks I continued to leave voicemails and emails pleading just to let me know what was going on. Today (August 6th) I went by the store to pick up my items after hearing absolutely nothing from David. I was greeted by a woman there and I explained that I was unhappy about David’s unwillingness to communicate with me when he is holding my property. She spoke to me about some family difficulties that they have had and apologetically suggested that she give the books back to me, to which I consented. She brought them out from the back and all of the books were sitting in the box at an angle on top of the rolled up paper bag like they had just been tossed into the box. Several of them were bent and two were creased through the whole book. I said “this is unbelievable” and showed her how he damaged the books. She apologized again and said to my dismay for a second time that David was “just trying to help me out”. Exactly how holding and damaging my property and refusing to correspond with me over a span of several weeks is “helping me out” is a mystery to me. I approached him with a simple and appropriate business transaction assuming that his interest was an opportunity to profit from the sale of some very high quality materials. I did not ask for “help” and I certainly did not ask to have my time and resources wasted because David is incapable of handling his own business. I would have been completely fine with a one-line email that said “having family difficulties right now so will not be able to evaluate your materials for…” No problem, things happen… I pick up my materials and wish him the best. I wonder how long he would have held my stuff and continued to dodge me if I had not walked in? Truly pathetic!
14. Violin Rental Direct

Courteous employee, great selection of ol skool R&B..more than expected, memorable experience.
So much fun looking for musical gems the owners are always ready to help.
Love
Found a couple of gems here, walked out with 6 albums for $20. Plenty to look at, and it was quite crowded.
Vinyl condition is clean.
They look that they checked all vinyls carefully.with resonable price.
The old clerk looks very kind.
Update: 6.28.22
I keep coming back over the years, and thought I should provide an update. This has become one of my favorte create digging spot. The R&B (Soul) section has grown over the years, in fact, I am not sure it has grown or that they have provided more relaste for it. But it is now easy to access. I have found some rare joints here and always vist this location about 2 times a month.
Store seems organized very well. Seemed to lean more to Rock, Jazz and Classical. I was shocked the R&B section was somewhat smaller than I expected, yet I was able to find some Diamonds. It’s the type of place I have on my once every 3 month visiting list. Because of the location I can see them getting much traffic for R&B, Soul or hip-hop to make me check them more often.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and the store is well-organized. The prices on the other hand… Expect to pay a serious premium for widely available used vinyl (see e.g. the $30 copy of CSNY’s 4-Way Street; $25 for John Lennon’s Rock ‘n’ Roll). You’ll find the same selections for far less on Discogs or eBay, even after shipping. I prefer Wax ‘n’ Facts for the superior inventory and much more reasonable prices.
Rude the The gentleman barely looked at any of the records that I had brought in for more than two seconds before passing on majority of them and buying maybe four . I wasn’t looking to get a whole lot for what I had brought in but from reading the other reviews I thought that I may have a chance at getting something worth my while not eight bucks
Amazing musicians ! I visited Halloween Candlelight concert in Decatur this Monday. Not my first one with the candles and I have to say that the scene was visually breathtaking. Again ! The violinist/narrator was fun and pleasant to listen to on top of everything. I can’t even express how happy the whole experience made me. Five stars without a doubt !
Just went to a concert at Trolley Barn. Moved to tears by the amazing music!
I had the pleasure of listening to the Edgewood String Quartet at a Candlelight Concert put on by Fever. The particular concert I saw lasted about an hour and included sci-fi theme music. The venue was at a chapel and the acoustics were amazing. I will definitely be looking to see them again in the future.
Saw them at candlelight concert. Awesome musicians. Wish there had been a few more selections. Also while I thought the patter between selections was okay it was too long n too adlibbed. The concert had a love theme n it was in the romantic candlelight atmosphere. Scripted remarks on theme would have been better. The remarks used were more like fir an educational presentation
Not bad. Candles werent giving the mood i anticipated. Songs were OK. Cool date night but would suggest broadening the type of artists they do covers for.
