Cool little music store with a certain old-school, pawn-shop vibe. Found a cool, used Kustom powered monitor/mixer and a short mic stand, useful items at a great discount. Enjoyable experience, since the staff was cool and helpful, letting me borrow a mic and cable to test my purchase before buying.
Super nice and friendly in the store, and Mr. LaSalle did a wonderful job restoring my dad’s old 1962 guitar that had not been touched in decades and needed a lot of work. Definitely recommend! Photos are before and after.
Stopped in store for first time to get a couple guitar related things. Super friendly and knowledgeable
First, the employees were excellent; friendly and helpful. I was extremely disappointed in the store itself. This was basically a dark, messy pawn shop, not the store I was familiar with from years ago. My only reason to go back would be to pick through dusty items to find something I might be in search of, more of an adventure.
Went in to sell my cello, the woman that was working there was amazing and very professional. She had to call the owner to ask about the selling price. He had her look up what my model last sold for on eBay (it’s 2021 my dude) and there were no matches so he had nothing to go off of. I paid $1400 for it, I was looking for around $500. He wanted to give me $50. An absolute joke. I’m not looking for top dollar but I’m also not looking to get completely ripped off.
Sent me a different accordion with no straps and a case that should of been thrown out
Ordered lugs for my snare. They sent me receipts and invoices and never shipped my lugs. I called and emailed multiple times and never got a response back after leaving numerous messages. Been 2 months and I still don’t have my lugs and am out $60.
3. Spindrift Guitars
Address: 300 State St, New London, CT 06320, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Awesome place. I dealt with Vince who was extremely accommodating and made sure I was taken care of. He was also extremely easy to approach and talk to. He let me play some guitars, even though I didn’t purchase anything, which made me feel welcomed. I did, however, end up purchasing a set of strings.
All in all, I can’t recommend them enough. I originally went in for the positive reviews of how friendly they are. The reviews were completely accurate. They are genuine people who care, which is hard to find these days. 5 stars across the board. Thanks, Vince!
Awesome guitar shop. There are so many unique and beautiful instruments. The guys that work there are super friendly and helpful. Very impressed.
I found a Reverend Kingbolt that Spindrift had listed on Reverb. I called them and they worked out a deal for me to get the hard case Reverend also sells for this guitar. Vince and Corey were super helpful and responded promptly to my questions about the guitar and purchasing. I highly recommend this shop.
Shop owner very helpful with advice on adjusting the action on my mandolin. It is specifically a guitar shop.
They really know their guitars.
An amazing shop, beautiful selection of instruments and very helpful folks.
I brought in vintage Gibson Les Paul custom for a Re fret and they completely ruined it there was surface scratches ,chips in the fret board the frets were un even and buzzed. After 4 attempts bringing the guitar back to the store with the problems only half way fixed every time or even new problems I just cut my loses and brought my guitar to a real professional if you want it done right I do not recommend bringing your guitar here for major repairs
4. DuBaldo Music Center
Address: 881 Main St, Manchester, CT 06040, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Phenomenal shop that really personifies customer service! Pete is a great guy to deal and talk shop with. My guitar arrived safe, secure AND quickly. I can’t recommend DuBaldo enough, just give them a call or stop by already!
Finally got to visit after doing some business over the phone 18 years ago with Pete. Great inventory, selection and people. One of the very best examples of why we need to support local businesses and how great a family can run them!
I’ve never been more comfortable trying out guitars in a shop. I drove over an hour to get here and the customer service made it completely worth it. They have an incredible selection of great sounding instruments and went out of their way to make sure I found the guitar I wanted. Highly recommend this place.
Great service
5. Sam Ash Music Stores
Address: 95 Amity Rd, New Haven, CT 06515, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I always have a great experience at Sam Ash. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and pride themselves on great customer service. I give them five stars I would give more stars if there was that option. Looking forward to my next visit.
All was good. Big Jim, as always, was awesome!
I went to Sam Ash today to purchase a Les Paul.I had been to my local guitar center several times and they were unable to sell me a guitar for lack of a good guitar in stock.
At Sam Ash I was helped by Allen. He was friendly, knowledgeable, very helpful. I told him what I wanted to do and he brought me a perfect example of what I was looking for. ( a Gibson Les Paul for less than a grand)I tried several guitars over more than two hours. The first one he showed me is the one I went home with. He gave me a set of strings , did an intonation and straightened the neck, put the guitar in prefect playing condition. I will always go back to this store for this kind of service. Thanks Allen.
Nice people, good prices,!
Very good variety of guitars and knowledgeable staff that are friendly and never pushy.
Been here once but the service was great
Place is ridiculous to me had piano, that bought there not even been a year yet also had my warranty, they said they would take it back and give me some money but when I went to do it they didn’t want to do it at all they claimed it was broken when I got home and heard my piano was perfectly fine ridiculous they just didn’t wanna buy it back since they had more then enough smh
Drove 25 minutes to the store only to find out it doesn’t open until noon. Utterly rudiculous! Just close your doors for good if you’re going to have such restrictive hours!
Used to be a great place to go browse.. now it’s like walking onto a used car lot.. within ten minutes I had 6 people asking if they could show me anything, one guy asking me twice.. I was only planning on buying a guitar stand, but was so annoyed I went elsewhere….
6. Acoustic Music
Address: 4 Maple St, Chester, CT 06412, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I have been doing business with Bethel Music for over 30 years and would use no one else. Bruce, the owner, and lead repairman has integrity, honesty and skill. He is fair and compassionate to young musicians and knowledgeable enough to service the needs of seasoned professional Musicians.
Very friendly and knowledgeable personal.
Fantastic folks at BMC! Skilled lutgiers as well.
Good info from employees
Instrument rentals are great for their prices
Just stopped by quick. Had a great hour. They are the best
8. Caruso Piano Gallery
Address: 94 State St, New London, CT 06320, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, quick turnaround, beautiful piano. I don’t imagine I’ll be in a position to buy more than one piano in my lifetime, but if I were I’d definitely go back to Caruso’s!
Really good experience working with them, I was a little scared ordering from the west coast without playing the instrument, but they were helpful in describing it and I’m super happy with it! Thanks a bunch 🙂
Richard and his team are truly pleasant to work with! They are very knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. They made this online piano shopping experience smooth and painless, which is beyond my expectation. Piano looks and sounds great, would definitely recommend Caruso!
UPDATE October 5 2018: Richard Caruso promptly called me the day after I posted the review below. He apologized again, and very willingly reimbursed me for my travel expenses. I feel this was the ethical and right thing to do, and am glad that he made things right with me.
Original review: I flew in from Chicago to try out a Steinway B I had on deposit. The staff knew of my travel plans, and were very hospitable and welcoming. The piano, however, was noticeably out of tune on my arrival. While more accomplished pianists might not have seen that as an issue, it completely stopped me from getting excited about the piano. No sale for them, no new Steinway for me.
They were apologetic and realized their mistake when I pointed this out, but were unable to get the piano tuned while I was there.
This is a shop with perhaps good intentions, but they completely dropped the ball in this instance. I’m writing this review because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
I went to their store and also called them multiple times showing interest in one of their pianos. Despite the fact I showed interest and called/messaged multiple times on a piano, that piano was sold to an online buyer. There was no follow-up or a courtesy call to let me know that the product I was eyeing was gone or was about to be sold.
Nevertheless, I think that they have a good variety and a great knowledge base on pianos. I wish they were a little bit more responsive and courteous as buying a piano is a big purchase and takes time and thought.
EDIT: After my initial review, Caruso Piano contacted me and let me know that they have not reached out to me due to not getting a piano that was comparable to what I was looking for. Which is understandable. I truly appreciate them reaching out to me. I have to write that I learned a whole lot about piano buying from them when I first went to their store. I wish them good luck and hope they continue to be successful as a local business.
I purchased a used U1 3 years ago from Carusos.
Please be aware: these are GREY MARKET pianos. They were originally built and sold in the Asian market. You will have proof when you remove the knee board and see the holder for the lease agreement. And due to that fact, the wood of the pianos is dried to standards for Asia. Not the U.S. or Northeast U.S.
I do like the piano, BUT I and my piano technician are having a heck of a time keeping the damper pedal from squeaking BADLY.
I had the piano saver system installed almost immediately. It has helped the piano hold tune very well.
But because this instrument was not built to the specifications of an American instrument (or North America) it is expanding very badly from the humidity.
I have a dehumidifier in the room with the piano, no heat or doors or windows near it. And I have my technition here AGAIN trying to shave down the knee board to try and eliminate this terrible groan/squeek.
My opinion? Buy a piano through a local piano tuner/technition or through a referral from a tuner tech. If you are going to purchase one of these grey market instruments bring your tuner with you. Pay them for their time and have them tune the instrument you choose BEFORE you give Carusos your money.
9. JC Music
Address: 529 W Main St, Meriden, CT 06451, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I brought my flute in for an emergency repair at 6pm on a Friday. Shawn fixed it for me immediately, and didn’t charge me! He gave me a tour of some of the used horns for sale there — great stuff! I’ll definitely go back.
Overall great service and people, I’ve had countless positive experiences whenever I had to have something repaired or modified or had to sell something with their consignment program. Very straightforward and easy. Highly would recommend to anyone!
very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly family owned music store
Would like to obtain some nice brushes and some type of top hat set used and very sturdy since I break percussion instruments all the time when I perform?
My son, Roberto Luis and Rosa live in Meriden. Are you far from the mall? I have spent a lot of time jamming in Puerto Rico to salsa, merengue, etc but my favorite is funk like Buddy Miles.
My grandson really enjoyed the music lessons and they are very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend them.
Completely disappointed. I placed an order in store on a instrument that was never placed with JC music. The customer service was poorly displayed and the options they gave us was not acceptable. I asked to speak to the owner several times and would not get on the phone and made his new employee talk to me. I ended up going somewhere else that was amazing
This was a horrible expierence. They need to get their stuff together, they had already-sold instruments on shelf. They had an amazing guitar sale and when I went to buy, it was already sold! They got my hopes high and let it down and I will not give them my money any longer.
Never have any of the literature or instrument parts I’m looking for. Took 3 months to repair a trombone. I tried to return an item and they wouldn’t give me back the cash to go to another place. The owner has blatantly disrespected my mother on several occasions and doesn’t have much knowledge of much of anything outside of rock music. As far as i’m concerned, this is the worst music store i’ve ever set foot in and would not recommend to anybody.
10. Rayburn Music
Address: 22B Andover Dr, West Hartford, CT 06110, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Excellent Quality of both service and instruments.
Very helpful.
Very friendly fast and efficient service! I love shopping local
Fast and friendly service
In store service is good but can never call the Hartford Rayburn Music. Electronic voice prompts to dial 0 for an attendant but when do so it says “Your call cannot be transferred” been a customer for about 3 years. Never could get done anything over phone. Have to visit store for everything.
We rented a viola from Rayburn. The first viola wasn’t put together right (something to do with the bridge). after switching to another viola we realized the bow doesn’t quite fit with the viola.
we rented from the music store in the center and it was a great experience but pricier. though Rayburn isn’t cheap either
they will be replacing the viola once more, lets see how it goes this time…
STAY AWAY from this company! I rented a cello early 2019. We returned the cello in Aug 2019 and are still getting billed for it! I’ve called and left messages since no one picks up the phone in the Milford office where I rented and returned the instrument. No call back and monthly payments for the cello are still getting charged off my bank card. Had to file a complaint with my bank to stop payments. Terrible terrible business practice!
11. The Music Shop
Address: 405 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Why is a guy in Melbourne, Australia giving a music shop Southington, Connecticut a five star review? Well I grew up in nearby Bristol and got a number of the guitar books I still use from the Music Shop about 20 years ago. But the real reason I’m giving a high rating is for the help they’ve offered my mother. I left my Les Paul behind in Connecticut and during Melbourne’s Covid lockdown got back into guitar. I asked my mother if she could send me my LP, and, having no idea what to do, she went to the Guitar Shop. They helped her pack it up and told her exactly what to do to make sure it arrived safely, and it did! Then, a few months ago, while cleaning out my late grandmother’s basement, my mother found an old parlour guitar. She went back to the Music Shop and they gave her advice about whether it was worth fixing up and shipping. That guitar just arrived at my door today in great shape.
Thanks so much guys!
Best
I’ve been taking saxophone lessons at The Music Shop for a couple of years at this point, and I can’t say enough good things about them. I’ve had a few different instructors here, all of whom have been friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. The lesson times are convenient and the pricing competitive. I often say that learning a new instrument as an adult is one of the best things I’ve done for myself, and I’m glad I chose The Music Shop for this purpose!
Great place but website could be better such as pics of some used equipment. I’m a drummer and would like to see what they have for new and used cymbals, stands, drum kits etc. And prices. I have done business with them and always had a great experience the reason for three stars is the website doesn’t do the music shop justice. All and all great store great people.
The cellos were in not in good shape and we had to pay a luthiere to redo repairs that were poorly done when we received the instrument.
12. Middlesex Music Academy
Address: 440 Main St, Middletown, CT 06457, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I’ve had my son’s saxophone serviced here a few times, and not only do they do an excellent job, they also go above and beyond to be helpful. These people are compassionate about music! I’d never go anywhere else.
Yesterday we went in to rent an instrument for my 4th grader starting band and I can’t speak enough on how smooth and easy the process was! When we walked in we were greeted by Jim, who immediately knew everything we needed and even our band teacher by name (impressive!). Our son can tend to be a bit shy but the charm of this place seemed to make him feel right at home! If I had to I would say the whole interaction took all of about 10 minutes and we were on our way. Definitely recommending this place to anyone I know looking for help with an instrument, thanks again!
love it
The sales team made it possible for me to afford a piano for my son
I paid $80 for a setup on a guitar and got it back with the strings a mile off of the neck and the floyd rose studs so high out of the body I could park a car under it. The bridge pickup was raised until it was practically touching the strings and the neck pickup was lowered to below the pickup ring. The tech then told me that 10-52 strings don’t exist. They’re light top heavy bottom and aren’t even uncommon strings. Every time I go there they give bad advice and clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. My friend tried to buy a tubescreamer (basic overdrive) and they tried to sell him a phaser instead (completely different thing).
I would give Middlesex Music Academy a 0 if I was able to. I called to inquire about a $150 charge when I haven‘t been confirmed by John the guitar teacher. I made a request to Matt that Tuesday was my preference but John was booked so he scheduled Thursday at 6pm. I received a text and email from John yesterday that he had a conflict for Thursday and offered Friday. I responded via text/email that would not work and inquired if this was temporary or permanent to which I did not receive a response. I let John know this may not be a good fit then. I called today to have the charge refunded and Jim proceeded to call me names, saying I was yelling & screaming over the phone and I was being rude. No need to go into the dramatics but Jim needs a lesson in manners, telling the truth and understanding that being a manager does not give him the authority to behave poorly. Never once did I raise my voice but did correct Jim several times throughout the conversation all because i asked for a refund. Extremely unprofessional and a bad look for Middlesex Music all around. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Inexcusable & theater worthy performance by Jim today folks!!!
I signed up for a piano lesson trial online. Their site is very confusing and it’s not clear if the lesson is in-person and online. I called them, left a message but they never called me back. In the day/time of the lesson, I called them 3 times because I was having problems to contact the teacher. The guy who works there, Jim, clearly doesn’t have any customer service skills. He was rude and unpleasant. He didn’t make any effort to help me, told me a was confused and nobody else had problems. I just canceled the future lessons there. It’s easier just hire a private piano teacher. Hopefully I will never have to deal with this guy again.
13. Music & Arts
Address: 989 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Went to music and arts for authorized Yamaha purchase. Great price and great service!
nice music instruments
Service was amazing. My son plays contrabass and I don’t know much about the needs. The manager was really knowledgeable and helped us choose mid cost strings and a new bow suitable for a young but not brand new player. I appreciate that they didn’t do a hard sell with more cost than I was comfortable with right now. The things came in promptly. When we came in C. handled changing the strings and helping my son with the new bow. He was fantastic. I will continue to use their store! Really happy!
I have condensed my original rant down to the following- we really like our children’s teachers- but the front desk needs saving
Limited retail space, but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Music lessons are offered on site.
Yeah it’s good!
Absolutely horrible service by the staff. Our son took lessons for two years and store failed to call when teacher couldn’t make it to lesson and even refused to acknowledge that his instrument had been returned when it was sitting in front of them. Sadly, these small shops are disappearing and so it is hard to walk away from one but the staff and management is really just that bad.
Being a Deaf mother of hearing 9 years old child that has no knowledge in music, I asked if this is drumsticks is good for him. This man just gave me a cold look and said I don’t know it’s fine. He was rude. Definitely not a Deaf friendly store for those Deaf parents with hearing child who wants to join the band.
Very poor service. I had gone few days ago to order a rental violin size 1/16 according to my son teacher recommendations, and a violin for my wife. This week I received a call letting me know that the violins were ready for pick up.
First thing I was told when I arrived was that the violin 1/16 was not there, after I told the associate I have received a phone call, he went to check again and sure enough he found it.
He mentioned that the violin ha a tag outside saying it was 1/32, but that it was a size 1/16 because it has been measured.
He proceeded to fill up a rental contact that I signed, however I suspected the violin was indeed a 1/32, I then open the violin box and inside the violin there was a mark for 1/32 size.
I mentioned to the associate that I thought the violin was a 1/32 not a 1/16. He was visible frustrated and said that his manager had I don’t remember what degrees in music and that he had measured the violin ant it was a 1/32, he then told me that I could check online the dimensions for a 1/16 violin, which I did, and sure enough the violin was a 1/32 according to the measurements they have online. I told the associate that I preferred to wait, he replied that the contract was already done, I said that I did not care, because I wanted the right size violin. All along this discussion the associate attitude was extremely rude.
I would not recommend this store, however unfortunately there aren’t too many options available.
14. Guitar Center
Address: 839 Queen St, Southington, CT 06489, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Busy place but the repair guy was awesome. Restringed and adjusted my guitar. Bought a used acoustic. They could find the carry bag so gave me a new case.
Lots of great deals to be found here and a great staff looking to help you find the right gear.
Service here was very good. I went in with questions about small backpack keyboards. The sales associate was very knowledgeable and willing to walk me through some important considerations.
This is a smaller GC and does not have a lot of selection in some of the non guitar departments. That being said the selection that they do have is up to date and modern.
The store was very clean and well organized.
Not bad…you’d figure they would be more eager to help customers like in their Manchester location but no.
I like this location better than the Orange, CT location. May not be as big, but the staff, makes up for it in friendliness.
I bought a used Ibanez jazz guitar, changed my mind, and exchanged it for an Epiphone ES-335 the next day. No issues with the exchange. There was an older guy with gray hair (wish I could recall his name) that was a pleasure to work with. Seriously, a nice, knowledgeable and professional person.
I’m not the biggest GC fan, but this location is OK and the staff makes it so.
Consistently the worst sales staff year over year. They are obviously just there to sell extended warranties. If they sniff out that you are an actual musician, they will hide so they don’t hurt their metrics (because no pro would buy “pro” coverage). They may as well be working at a donut shop for their lack of product knowledge, probably paid more, too. It must be a rule that all guitars be out of tune and poorly set up. They can’t go out of business soon enough so the REAL music stores can come back to their communities. Go support your local independent store for a much, much better experience. GC is the worst.
This store is a perfect example as to why I shop online. No one knowledgeable to help around. Poor selection. Drum department is a joke.
Cannot get off their email list.
15. Greenwich Music
Address: 1200 E Putnam Ave, Riverside, CT 06878, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Purchased a Les Paul from them online, but it turned out it had already sold and the website hadn’t updated. Joe, the owner, refunded me immediately and personally messaged me, and also offered to let me know when the next one arrived. Fast forward a couple weeks, and now I have my Les Paul with some extra goodies from the shop. 5/5 customer service! I will gladly continue to take my business here, even though I live all the way in Texas.
The Music Angel in the Pandemic.
The pandemic just started. We left New York City to find space in Connecticut. Everything was closed and we were in a new town My son’s cello string pops. What to do now when you need a cello string in a pinch. I called a number of places either no answer, we can’t do it or we can do it for a big price. Businesses taking the opportunity to gouge at the onset did not sit right with me. I left a voicemail at one store my last try. Next thing I know I receive a text from Joe at Greenwich Music asking for my address. He will have his distributor drop ship it to me. Done. No questions. Seamless. We can’t wait to give Greenwich Music more business. They deserve it. Thank you Joe. You are a class act.
We were kindly helped in the store, but we were buying a guitar for our son and we don’t live in the US. We were having problems with internet so we couldn’t research correctly at the moment, but they assured that the amp could be used in 220 current. We arrived home and we connected the amp and it didn’t work. So the amp was burned. Apart from that the price was a bit higher than the same thing in other stores, it’s not nice to pay 50 dollars more, but that is just business and anyone can charge what they want. It was our fault that we didn’t do a good research before buying. But the very kind person that assured us that it would work because he used to be an electrician, and it only needed a basic adapter, was totally wrong and now we are home and we lost an amp, so we paid extra for the set and it didn’t work. You were very kind indeed, but please if you are not sure about something, don’t sell it. Because we lost money and we can’t go back because we don’t live there.
It’s a nice place! It’s a bit small but otherwise it’s nice.
Rudest customer service I have ever encountered. The man I spoke to on the phone yelled and hung up on me. When my daughter went in person to drop off the instrument for repair at the agreed upon time, he remained upset and kicked my daughter out of the store. Strongly encourage anyone looking to have their instruments fixed to look elsewhere. Disappointing experience to say the least.
Their hours aren’t very convenient and I was having a guitar strung and I dropped it off and I didn’t get a call before the store closed and then they were closed the next day Sunday so I didn’t get my guitar until Monday and that was extremely inconvenient. They also have a very small selection of basses.Update, they aren’t even open a couple hours on the 4th of July so I won’t get my guitar till Tuesday I am very upset with this store.
Terrible customer service. Called and said I would be by in 10 minutes for an emergency repair. Guy was nice on the phone. When I arrived 5 minutes early they had closed up and locked. Super helpful…
16. A Sound Choice
Address: 267 E Main St UNIT 3, Branford, CT 06405, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Awesome place! Great service, and just awesome people working there overall! I also love getting drum lessons there. It triples my drumming skills!
Excellent customer service. Will surely return.
Good service fair rates.
Cool little music shop. Worth going and especially if you need a setup on your instrument.
Ordered a guitar on Reverb and Ken always answered the phone and was very helpful throughout the process. I ordered a Larrivee OM-40 and it was listed as brand new but definitely had a dent and 2 scratches which was disappointing but overall a good experience with the process.
The guitar however has a terrible extreme buzzing noice, especially when playing on the first 7 frets of the 4th, 5th, and 6th strings…even when playing a single note and strum lightly…a terrible buzz. I can’t seem to figure out where it is coming from. I will have to take to a luthier which is unfortunate given that it is a brand new guitar. He did say he sanded the saddle down before shipping to lower the action, suspicious that is the problem.
Update: Took it into a luthier. The saddle had been sanded down, action too low, poor job with the setup. Had to build me a new saddle. New strings, and adjusted trust rod as well. Buzzing gone. Sounds and plays like a dream!
Very convenient
17. George’s Music Center
Address: 905 New Harwinton Rd, Torrington, CT 06790, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I had a good experience here. They let me try allot of the guitars out and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. I’ve been rushed in other music shops, but they let me take my time here. I felt at ease. I Ended up buying a Ibanez. Would recommend coming for beginner guitars and more expensive guitars. They have a little bit of everything.
Great help and knowledgable staff
Had replacement parts we were looking for.
If you’re not looking to go too far to get musical instruments. Look no further. Expensive though. But if you don’t care about prices, go for it. Not much of a selection though.
Meh
Nice shop
This place is just awful. The owner is so rude to us that i will never go back. We rented an instrument from him because our normal music store didnt have the instrument and when the instrument broke he said it was our fault and that it wasnt covered and then bad mouthed our local music store.
After going to this place; I must say I will never go back there again. The owner is so rude and disrespectful. Its not even funny. The owner needs get off his anthropocentric state of mind.
18. Creative Music Center
Address: 701 Main St, Monroe, CT 06468, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Nice music store in Monroe, we bought a cute ukulele here!
Awesome staff and great deals! No surprise they have 5 stars!!!
All of the staff, from folks at the register to the instructors to the director of music education, are professional and knowledgeable, with a warm welcome to boot!
Scheduled a guitar lesson here, spent $45, arrived on time, the teacher I was assigned to never showed up. At least they were nice enough to give me my money back the next day.
Poor customer service.
Brought my daughter’s flute in to be repaired. Over a month and they never touched it. No time table given for when they would fix it.
19. Woodbury Music Shop
Address: 766 Main St S, Woodbury, CT 06798, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
Woodbury Music is the best shop around of all of your instrument needs! The shop owner Dave, is both friendly & knowledgeable! I have gotten both common things done (fixing of saxophone keys) as well as unusual things done (fixing of a dulcimer bridge) and everyone has always been great! I have also taken lessons for almost three years now, and my teacher Mike is not only a dedicated teacher, but also a very talented professional. Stop by and check it out!
Great honest shop here. Had a great online interaction with Dave via email. Want to know why I trust them? Because they talked me out of a purchase. Ha! Thanks again!
A hidden gem UPSTAIRS. Don’t miss it. Dave the owner is great, and talented. Patrick Gill is the PREMIER guitar TECH in the whole northwest CT region. He works miracles at a very fair price. Excellent teachers, Will for piano and keyboards and Mike for guitar and bass. Better check them out. I only trust my guitars to Dave and Patrick. Won’t go anywhere else. Seriously.
20. Target
Address: 2177 Killingly Cmns, Dayville, CT 06241, United States , East Brooklyn , Connecticut , United States
I do a curbside pickup multiple times a week — and every single associate who comes to deliver my order is just an absolute joy. Two notable moments: last week, an item was missing from my order that was charged. After a few calls, the item was delivered AND the manager on duty came out to give us some cookies to thank us for our patience. Today, my little one fell asleep before the order came out. As the associate approached the car, I put my finger to my lips and she got it right away. She made a point of being as quiet as she could be and I am so thankful. The customer service for curbside is incredible.
Cashier’s are rude!! Prices are great and of course having the Starbucks is a plus!!
Clean but over priced
Nice and clean and the staff is courteous and helpful while not being “in your face”. Prices and selection are on “Target” (pun intended).
The parking lot of Killingly Commons seems intentionally designed to be one of the worst parking lots you’ll ever see and they’ve succeeded to a great degree. BUT that holds no bearing on the store. Once you wend your way through the lot, the store is fine.
They utilize mostly self-checkout and barely staff the other checkout counters. Also, don’t ever plan on the Pizza Hut Express being open, because they don’t staff that either. Very frustrating.
Yesterday for whatever reason, the stores were extremely busy. After waiting in line for my 2nd time, needless to say, my patience was wearing thin. Opting for the shorter line, manned by a real person and I might add the only one on a Saturday no less, I thought was my best bet for speedy service. However, that was not to be as the clerk engaged in conversation with the customer. Not just a comment, mind you, but a discourse on whatever. Your store either needs to tape shut your lone cashier’s mouth or put more people behind cash registers.
This may seem petty but I just drove all the way here to buy Kids medicine and the doors are locked at 950pm. I can get in and buy medicine before closing at 10. Manager standing On the other side of the doors swinging a radio around by the lanyard.
