Took my 18-year old guitar for a setup and possibly have the tuners changed (they’re rusty). Joe inspected my guitar and played with it and said that the guitar sounded great and the tuners still worked despite their appearance. So glad I went before spending money on something I didn’t need!
This guy was super nice compared to any of the other people that buy guitars in AZ. He gives more than fair rates on appraisals and is honest that’s what I like! I have a vintage late 60s Model teisco Guitar I called another guitar shop and they were so rude and said they only dealt with high-end stuff! I tend to be a talker and he took the time out of his day to speak with me and answer all my questions I would definitely recommend this guy over anybody else!!
Joe brought my hollowbody guitar back to life with a great setup! Very pleased with his work and professionalism.
Been loving this place for quite a while. Nice folks, always helpful and great selection. Prices are a bit out of control, however. Squier bullets for $40 over new price. Used guitars priced same or higher than new (hence 3 stars) but always fun to look and sometimes the odd fairly priced piece in there as well, though you’ll get most things in there brand new for considerably cheaper.
Helped with an appraisal for me. Quick and easy.
Beware. Got the rug pulled out right from under me now refund is taking weeks. Very tough to buy vintage from a seller like this. Not honorable. Plenty of good guys out there why have any shade. You’ve been warned.
Very surprised by my experience since this business has so many 5 star reviews. Sent texts and emails & left voicemails but have never received any response whatsoever in nearly a week. Left to wonder if I ever will.
Rude customer service from the minute I got on the phone with them.
2. The Music Store
Address: 2630 W Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
They are one of the best. They sell the “Note for note” books for serious musicians These are really nice. Also they know where things are at. If you are in a hurry they will hold your hand & walk you there. If you aren’t in a hurry they leave you alone. I really like this store
I have been stopping in from time to time to pick up strings or a strap or cord. Nice folks! About a year ago I was in buying a strap for one of my guitars when I spotted a 12 string Fender. I played it and fell in love. All I can say is they worked so hard to get it all together, found just the right case, AND gave me a better deal that Guitar City could offer! I appreciate their professionalism and courteous service. Keep up the good work!
Fast and friendly service. Had exactly what I needed 🙂
The instruments we have rental have been pretty worn but still work well and it is an OK deal for the price. Customer service is helpful and friendly. We have been pleased with our violin rental over this past year and will continue renting here into the next school year.
Fui una vez a ver las guitars
Great verify of sheet music and ukuleles and an awesome luthier.
DO NOT shop here, the employees are rude, the owner is rude, their selection sucks, not even half of what they had even a year ago. Quality has gone way down hill. It won’t be long till they’re gone.
Discriminated against me for having a disability.
They have nothing for the drummer! Maybe some sheet music? But nothing more!
3. Milano Music
Address: 38 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
My daughter rented a couple different saxophones from Milano’s over the years, and they worked out great. I had taken my guitar to a competitor of their’s and the competitor was not able to fix it to my satisfaction. Milano’s repair specialists were able to get my guitar back to it’s original condition/configuration, and so I got to hear it as it was designed. I enjoy it to this day. Thank you!
Great experience and excellent customer service. I went in to have pickup covers installed since I don’t have a soldering iron. A little pricey at $80 but the turnaround time was great. Only two weeks compared to where I usually go at almost seven weeks. Totally worth it.
Milano music is always ready to sell or repair, and visiting has been a pleasant experience for me.
Awesome experience restringing my guitar to begin my journey. Thank you so much! 🙂
Great place not the friendliest to my friend trying to trade a guitar in
I called today (Saturday) and was told by an employee that they have a “skeleton” staff and no one available to sell me retail woodwind products. She went on to explain to me that Milano’s “just hires high school students” and that I should call back on a weekday. “She just does polishing.” Unbelievably, I was actually transferred to her department (repairs?). She was unwilling to tell me her name when I requested a manager and told me there were none available on a weekend before hanging up on me.
I called back directly and requested a manager. I was then transferred to the woodwind department instead and told no manager was available. Jessica (department manager) was helping a customer. I suggested that Jessica must answer to someone and that I was looking for that person, not Jessica. After 5 minutes on hold, I spoke to Josh (who is supposedly in charge of multiple departments). He was polite and listened to my complaint about being hung up on by someone who was oblivious or ignorant to my requests. He was unable to assist me either but directed me to one of their “clarinet specialists.” After almost a half an hour I was able to find out that they didn’t stock the item I wanted or something similar (to be fair it was a long shot they would).
Unfortunately, this isn’t my first issue with Milano’s Music. The sad truth is that I’ve tried to do business with this store on multiple occasions because I like to shop locally. I purchased a clarinet case from them one time in the past and was satisfied with the purchase but almost every other time I’ve been frustrated by their lack of customer service and/or product knowledge. IT IS A SHAME! They have quality items in stock and a good selection. They have several knowledgeable staff members. The real challenge is identifying to whom you need to speak and getting access to them. If you do business with Milano’s and are willing to navigate the hurdles then, IMHO, your best option is to arrive in person and be persistent. I just don’t want to put in that much effort unless it is a big purchase and then I would want better service. I’ll give them two stars because of the selection and quality of the product but am torn between that and only one star because of the frustration, inconsistency and lack of service. I sometimes wonder why I keep trying but local businesses, especially music stores, are becoming more rare. I just wish this one were better run. These problems have been present for the past 7 years I’ve done or tried to do business with them and are persistent despite changes in staff. I can only deduce that it is a top down issue.
Walked in yesterday carrying my daughter’s violin in the case. Her music teacher referred us to Milano to repair/replace the fine tuners. The first question I was asked from this young lady at the front is whether or not I bought it from Amazon. I told her I did. She said they can’t work on these because the parts they use are not compatible with the violin’s sold on Amazon. She continued by saying that these violins on amazon use whatever scrap parts they find to build these violins. Now this conversation took place without her even looking at the case I was carrying let alone the violin inside. Sure there are $60 violins on Amazon. But there are also $2000+ violins on there too. Hec, a good sales person would have at least attempted to help, maybe even have me consider buying something from there. But I was completely turned off by the snobby attitude.
Social skills are lacking
4. Guitar Center
Address: 1652 S Val Vista Dr Suite 118, Mesa, AZ 85204 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Got my dream guitar here… an american built Taylor that was discounted $200 kept calling out to me. Thank you Daphne & Warren for your kind service & taking time out for my numerous questions! I’m a VERY satisfied holiday shopper & so very glad I stopped by during their holiday week specials!! See you guys soon…
Excellent service at this store. Got exactly what I needed, and fast.
Music, rock, and other things. The paradise for the music players.
Lugar excelente para los amantes de la musica, todos los instrumentos para todos los gustos .
Nice deal on XLR cables
Great people and place
I love the place. They have a great prices and the store is very organized.
Could not get anyone to help me.
If you want to be ignored for 20 minutes by the sales people, this is the place. If you want to be talked down to by condescending employees who act as though they have something better to do, this is the place.
It’s no wonder that brick and mortar stores are losing out to online vendors. They may not have personal interaction but at least Amazon won’t treat you like an annoyance
Walked in in the hopes of getting a drum set, no one greeted me or acknowledged I was even there. I Stood around for 20 mins in the same area as at least two employees stood behind the counter. No one said a word to me or asked if I needed help at all, I walked out not a single word was spoken to me.
2 stars cause the location looks nice at least.
5. My First Piano
Address: 1818 E Southern Ave Suite 5, Mesa, AZ 85204 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
It was a great venue for a private music recital. It has a small stage with lighting, a grand piano and mics. Seating was nice and physically distanced. Health precautions were in place. Once the pandemic is over, there’s a nice reception area outside of the recital hall. This hall is also used for a small church.
Great business to work with! I have had a few pianos with My First Piano and they make the buying process very easy including reasonable shipping prices. They have a monthly payment program but be careful as you can end up just renting the piano for years and only the money from your “try it before you buy it” period will count towards your purchase price. There is some confusion on their website as one section says they have a monthly pay agreement at about 10% interest, then other parts of the site say u cant finance a piano. If confused, talk to the sales team and they are always helpful. Despite this bit I would definitely buy from them again.
This company has a high employee turn over rate due to the poor treatment of hard working people. This company has been reported to the BBB. I highly recommend you NOT do business with this company. I wouldn’t even give it one star if that was an option. Poor excuse for management!
It is a church now.
The storefront address listed here is incorrect. I’d hope the owners would care enough to change it but apparently not.
6. Campos Music & Supplies
Address: 1241 E Broadway Rd #24, Mesa, AZ 85204 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Great store. This place is surprisingly well stocked. There are instruments directly imported from Mexico, DJ equipment, and above all- great customer service. Jr was knowledgeable, helpful, and you can tell this is the kind of place where he’s on a first name basis with his customers.
Great!!
These prices beat any other place you go to. Really good customer service and was very informative about the guitars.
me puedes decir si tienes burros o boces para acordeon honner corona II de mi mayor y cuanto cuestan
Good service and good prices
Lots of stuff in a nice, small store. From inexpensive instruments (like percussion blocks and tambourines) to guitars and large standing base guitars to a reasonably priced electronic drum set and stage lighting. This place is worth a look for your music needs and curiosity.
One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.
I was very serious in buying a $2000 guitar (they had in stock and in a box). I had a few minor concerns and questions about buying the guitar sight unseen. “Junior” told me, that once the box was open, and for whatever reason I wasn’t happy with the guitar and wanted to return it , there would be a 20% restocking fee. That’s approximately $400!
Ironically, I talked to Junior’s father (on the phone) the following day about my minor concerns. He addressed my concerns very easily, so I was ready to make the purchase. Then when I talked to Junior again, he was very curt and went out of his way to dissuade me from purchasing the guitar. He even went as far as disagreeing with his father and said something to the effect that his father “didn’t really know” about the things I had asked. All-in-all, I was quite astounded at Junior’s rudeness and dismissiveness with me as a potential customer.
Ultimately, I bought that exact guitar from Sam Ash music online. I asked the same basic and simple questions prior to buying the guitar. The questions were really rather trivial and the Sam Ash representative addressed them easily. My experience with Sam Ash was fantastic. My experience with Campos Music was the exact opposite.
I LOVE this guitar. Campos lost out on a sale and definitely lost out on a future customer.
I just bought a brand new double bass for 1000+ about 2 weeks ago, called and asked if I can return it cause I’m not too satisfied with it, and they said the best they can do is buy it off me for $750 when they know it’s brand new and they seen it a week after I bought it because I had to take it (45 min. there and back, keep in mind I had went to this store like 3 times that week) to get a minor repair when I bought it brand new. Will never do business with them again.
I brought my accordion two times for tuning and it is the same like before.
7. Music & Arts
Address: 7040 E Hampton Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Rusty made it super easy and painless to rent a violin. Kenzi was super fast replacing the string on her violin. Great location!
Christian was fantastic, even though they didn’t sell what I needed, he helped me understand the product so I could find it elsewhere. Great customer service, thank you!
Very helpful service!
Very basic selection.
Great place to purchase or repair an instrument. Alwayd friendly and provides suggestions based on cost for anything the sale or service. Strongly recommend Music and Arts.
Buena variedad de música
Went to the Music and Arts store today to purchase drumsticks and lessons. Couldn’t use my Canadian Credit card or American cash? Very disappointed
Spent my money elsewhere because of the masks requirement.
NEGATIVE STARS IS MORE LIKE IT!!! I have had the WORST experience dealing with the customer service from Music and Arts. Everytime me or my husband try to call and resolve our bill we get told a different story! NOONE has helped us resolve the issue and it’s been over 4 months now. The amount of money I have paid Music and Arts already, I could have boughten an instrument. NOT worth the hassel and absolute HORRIBLE customer service!!! Save your money and time and go somewhere else!!
8. Zimm’s Guitars
Address: 1305 W Guadalupe Rd Ste E1, Mesa, AZ 85202 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
First time visiting today and now, my favorite. The pedal selection is fantastic, the guitar selection is plentiful! HIGHLY recommend checking them out.
What an awesome little store, and the fella was SO friendly! Sometimes you go into these little guitar stores and the “help” is a little musically and culturally condescending(goodness knows why). Not here, what a little gem of an alternative to Guitar Center
Love this little local shop. (watch all your vids btw) Only reason for 4 stars is everything has to be fairly quiet because the tenant in the unit adjoining them complains. Kind of a bummer for a music store. But everything else is aces. 🙂
Fun, friendly guitar shop.
The owner, Dane is a good friend. In fact we’ve played in a few bands together. Always has something I need or want, always willing to wheel and deal. But it is a business, know and expect like any other business he has overhead. Trust me this guy isn’t trying to make a killing. He’s fair and honest, some times. Takes a loss to help struggling musicians. I’ve bought or traded ALOT of gear with this guy, and will definitely be hanging out from time to time. Maybe doing a few set ups. Or cleaning guitars.
Heard good things about them, but don’t advertise that you are open hours that you are not open, maybe I’ll change my rating for it when I go in there and they’re actually open when they say they are
Showed up right after 5:30pm and they were closed. Hours say open until 6pm.
9. Music Masters
Address: 6990 E Shea Blvd Suite 110, Scottsdale, AZ 85254 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Customer service is outstanding here and they give guitar lessons as well by the way, the gentleman who helped was very resourceful and helpful definintly check them out if can
Incredibly helpful and welcoming staff! They fixed my guitar in no time and for a very reasonable price.
I’ve been coming here for a few years since I played cello at Chaparral. I had my bridge replaced and the service was impeccable. Quick and professional. There is a dog in the office that said hello as well.
I’ve visited the store several times while shopping for a cello. The selection is limited, but they have more on the website you can order from. The staff have always been patient with my many questions as well as willing to go to any lengths to find in-depth answers on finishes, woods and construction. I’d recommend them.
Nice music shop. Looking into violin refresher lessons.
10. Music & Arts
Address: 891 E Baseline Rd Suite 101, Gilbert, AZ 85233 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Very nice experience here. Everyone was friendly and very helpful.
great
Very friendly and helpful
Definitely not as friendly or helpful as the Power location.
It’s a good shop with kind staff and great teachers. But it’s missing some TLC. Cello bow options are limited and there’s this huge tent inside that is just in the way
This place is a great place. They are helping navigate being the mom of an orchestra student and it’s a task! They are so nice about helping me figure out what book I need to get him and what size chin rest he needs. They’re super nice.
Difficult!!!
While the in-store staff are friendly and you shouldn’t have high expectations because this is generally a company designed for beginner instruments for young children, I was less than impressed across the board.
The “brand new” trumpet we rented had to be repaired within just a few weeks and it was replaced with another “brand new” product. That is just the beginning of the issue.
I knew my card was set to expire and it had been compromised so I replaced it. When I tried to go in store to change the card on file, just as I had done to set it up, I was told I’d have to call customer service directly. I got a letter a short time later asking me to provide all of my card information on the piece of paper and mail it back to the company. Due to security issues and having just had my card compromised I opted not to go down that path. I even attempted to reach out to the company through email and got no response. I later got an automated message from the company closer to the due date and it told me to call a customer service line. I went online and located the number and called the customer service. It was clearly an out of the country representative who assured me multiple times that the only way to provide the card information was to give it to her verbally and she promised it would be secure. I asked about an online account set up so it could be done electronically and was told this was not a feature of the company at this time.
I understand this is a smaller company designed for equipment rental but if I can set up a rental in store with my card I don’t understand why I can’t update it there. Additionally there didn’t seem to be a lot of consideration for security of financial information as the only option is to do it over the phone verbally. This is not a bad company and the staff in store tend to be nice but it’s not a quality instrument, the instrument itself is overpriced if you want to buy out and they don’t seem to consider the security implications for financial records. Accordingly at the end of this rental year / school year we are likely moving to a different company.
Hi owner don’t reply to this also
11 5 star ratings and
Very low selection of guitars employee was rude
11. Brindley’s Music Center
Address: 836 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Quality repairs at a bargain price! Had my bass and tube amp repaired here when other places couldn’t figure out what was wrong with them. Great service.
Ima just say THE GREAT BRINDLEYS..always have been good people..I could write(type) a whole chapter of this place and my 1st guitar as a young teen.
Fix it for the most part. Still feels as if the instrument is leaking from somewhere on the lower register. Still hard to push low notes without struggle.
Good music store for those looking for something specific…not much to look at for those who want to look around or window shop (especially for drum equip). Other than that, it’s a good local music shop. They used to make their own brand of drumsticks, which were GREAT, but last time I went they said they no longer make them. Bummer!
It was very awesome service but milanos was cheaper books were 8.00 and care kits were10.00 and at brindleys it was almost 16.00 and for book it was 10
I went here to have a new nut out on an old guitar of mine. The nut is cut too short making the strings buzz. Now I am left fixing it myself which sucks since I paid almost $60 to have it fixed.
Beware DO NOT RENT from them. They lied about insurance. They RENT beat up instruments then make you pay to fix them. Was told it would be $20 per repair then at register charged $25 per repair. Will never go back. Take my advise and take your business elsewhere
Called to inquire about an instrument. Owner laughed at my question and was extremely rude. He didn’t answer my questions, and refused to give any useful information.
12. Andrew’s Fine Violins
Address: 1930 S Dobson Rd #2, Mesa, AZ 85202 , First Mesa , Arizona , United States
Andrew did an absolutely amazing job setting up my cheap Chinese bass. It now plays and sounds like an instrument four times it’s value. Expert work at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!!
First of all let me say I am not a musician but loved the whole vibe of Andrew’s Fine Violins. I first wend into the store to buy rosin for my son that is just beginning to play the violin (we had already rented an instrument from another local music store). After speaking to the owner (Andrew) about renting from his store, I was surprised that the rental fee was less. About a week later, my son and I went back and rented a violin from Andrew’s (as the monthly fee due date for the other store was approaching). The store was packed with customers and students coming in for lessons, however, Andrew was completely calm and professional and took care of each customer quickly and efficiently. You can tell Andrew truly loves what he does from restoring, repairing, renting or selling quality instruments and takes pride in his work.
Super friendly staff and really good prices! Im a spaz and almosy left without zipping up my violin thank god he caught that
Excelente para reparar instrumemtos. Te explican bien y los precios son razonables

This store was recommended to me by a friend to look for a violin for my daughter. She came with us to play on the violins and see which would be good ones for my daughter to play on through high school and into college. Upon arrival it wasnt a very welcoming place. They let us go in to try out some violins but they just weren’t very friendly while we were there. Even my friend that had recommended it commented that it wasnt a good experience. I am glad others have had a good experience but I wont be recommending this place to anyone anytime soon.
HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Have dealt with the rude and pretentious attitudes at this place of business after renting a cello with them 2 years in a row. THIS PLACE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS NOR SHOULD BE SERVING THE PUBLIC. WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD. PREPARE TO HAVE YOUR DAY RUINED UPON DARKENING THEIR DOORSTEP.
I recently purchased an English Horn and bocal from Hannah’s Oboes. The experience was smooth and easy. When I called, she actually picked up the phone. After explaining my needs and my price range, Hannah emailed me a list of instruments that she had in stock accompanied with information about each instrument. I selected 2 instruments and then later an additional instrument. My advice is to get 3 instruments at the same time. Hannah provides specific instructions on when to open the shipping case and when it is best to play test the instruments. It can take as long as 6- 8 hours for an instrument to come up to an acceptable playing temperature. Don’t risk damaging the instruments.
She also sent 13 trial bocals from several manufacturers in different sizes. With so many combinations to try, I needed more than the one week trail, which Hannah granted. I called several other companies. No one had such a large number of instruments available for testing. Hannah offered more than expected. Also included with the trial instruments was a complimentary goodie bag of items to enhance the experience. I called Hannah several times during the trail period. She was attentive, thoughtful, and helpful as she answered my questions.
I was very much pleased with the service provided by Hannah and I love the EH/bocal combination that I selected. I highly recommend Hannah’s Oboes and would have no problem recommending her to my friends in the oboe community.
Hannah made the process of selling my english horn easy and pain free. I would highly recommend her services.
Hannah was very helpful in helping me to select an oboe and making sure that any minor problems were fixed prior to the purchase so that the instrument was in top condition. I am very happy with the purchase and appreciate all of her assistance and expertise.
