Great place to get your guitar worked on or buy a new guitar or amp
My husband loves this place!!
Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff, management, and even owner! They always know what I need and have what I need.
Nice store….for yyyyeeaaarrss!!!lol
Went there today. He has some great deals and he does layaway 6 month layaway if needed
The staff are friendly, the products seem pretty good, and it’s generally a good place to fulfill your guitar-based needs. They also sell things beyond guitars, like music books for brass, percussion, woodwind, and other string instruments, which would definitely be helpful to anyone looking to learn. From my experience, don’t be afraid to ask seemingly stupid questions; Quattlebaum is a safe place for a beginner to reveal their lack of knowledge.
They are selling stolen property.
Great home town store
Very rude to my wife and all she did was ask a queston please don’t do business with these people we don’t need rude people in this town.
2. Arkansas Musicworks
Address: 2400 SE J St, Bentonville, AR 72712 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
First time in this store and it was impressive with plenty of stocked musical instruments. Also has plenty of parts and internet service. Check it out.
Helpful, great service and a big inventory of guitar parts.
Good products and nice folks.
Not very impressed with service.
A very good place for music instruments and music classes
I had a very unpleasant experince with this place. My daughter’s saxophone needed to be fixed, so I took it to this store. Well almost 7 weeks passed and they never called me. When I called them to see if it was ready, they said it was ready. I went to pick it up just to learn that it was not fixed. They were very unpolite the whole time. They said it was fixed when I knew it wasn’t and there was no receipt/details of the work they “did” to it. So they game me a number to call. So I called the number, which is the place who they work with to fix the instruments in Fayatteville. They said they had no record of our instrument. So basically they never sent my daughters saxophone to them and they never called me to let me know what was going on. I understand sometimes things happen, but they basically never accepted they made a mistake. I was very polite with them, eventhough I was not happy about this whole situation. I will not be going to this place again, or reccomend it to anybody. And by the way, one of the owners, who has blonde/reddish hair, is one of the most inpolite person I ever met. We’ve been going to this place for years and if he is there, we know it’s not going to be good. He is rude and has poor customer service skills.
Do not honor trade in value. Poor customer service.
I wish I knew or experienced what other people have seen here. I walked in with my wife as the only customers an hour after they opened. Out of the four visible employees milling around, one nodded a hello as we walked in the front doors. Otherwise, there was no interaction from anyone. No one even bothered to notice we were leaving even though we walked next to them and the counter is 20 ft from the door.
The guitar inventory was ok, acoustic guitars are less than 1/5 of the inventory and like the balance, was mid-low to low end save one or two items. There is nothing wrong with the quality and price point/selection being on the affordable side but I was a bit shocked given how pretty the property is and it’s overall size. I was looking for something different and would only really knock a five start review down one notch at worst.
The bathrooms are very clean.
3. Ollandoc Guitar
Address: ship worldwide, 117 Meadowcliff Cir, Fairfield Bay, AR 72088 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
\﹏/ Palmer Music Co. is the premier musical equipment outlet store for the Conway area. Beacuse of their neighborhorly customer service, the expertise in their repair department, and the talent that their staff and teachers share, they are the go to guys for all of your needs as a musician.
This place is fantastic! They’re an asset to our town and are helping foster music in the community in addition to being a great local spot for repairs & lessons.
Palmers is the best music company in central Arkansas. They have almost everything you could ever want for your instruments. Also Brad is my guitar teacher and I think he is amazing
Usually busy because they’re good at what they do!
My guitar was in for repairs for about 4 months. Almost no communication was provided about status of the repair work. It’s understandable with Covid making it difficult to have parts shipped, but the lack of adequate communication was uncomfortably disappointing. I don’t blame the young individual who was working on my guitar, but rather leadership who should have provided direction on appropriate and timely customer service communication. It doesn’t matter to me that it would have taken considerable time for repairs. But the lack of communication stating that due to a backlog in parts, and it was just a waiting game, would have been enough. A 30 second phone call every couple of weeks or so to advise a customer that no progress has been made is better than nothing…it would have been enough to have left my guitar there for months longer. The ironic thing about all this is that I really like the store and the people at Palmer Music, so I will most likely continue to purchase my music supplies from them and I hope my experience there was a one-off….
Talked to Joey in the store today. He took some time to help me plan for an upcoming purchase for our church. They have a large selection of all kinds of musical instruments and they do lessons, as well. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Highly recommended! Thanks, Joey!
Went in expecting to buy a new guitar on 01/26/2023. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly & unhelpful.
I found one I wanted to buy but I just didn’t really want to give my money to a person who didn’t know how to smile.
Another employee walked by and was even more emotionless than the other guy. I left feeling very unwelcome.
I will not be back.
Go to GUITAR CENTER instead (you can actually have FUN there).
8. Clarinda’s Crafts & Music
Address: 3 Trina Loop, Greenbrier, AR 72058 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Well now Clarinda is the gal to do business with and maybe learn a thing or two about that special instrument you’ve been looking for. Even if you’re not player. Yet.
Inspiration is where it all starts. You’ll need a quality instrument that is comfortable to you ear and to wear. Because after all, that instrument you’re wearing is a part of you. Linked right to your heart. That’s it. Music.
Clarinda has good taste. Her selection of instruments are about the best values you’ll find. Value. Clarinda’s knowledge of selection. An instrument you’ll look forward to playing. Her personal attention to detail makes all the difference.
I bought 1 Loar LM-700-VS mandolin from Clarinda. I wanted a pick up installed. No problem. Done. I also bought an original version stock Loar LM-700-VS. Plugged in or not these mandolins are top notch! Will knock down your doors and the dogs will come runnin’ in! So to speak… couldn’t be happier. – Steve Kletzel – In Portland Oregon
Bought an excellent sounding, sweet mandolin from Clarinda at a very reasonable price.
9. The Musician’s Exchange
Address: 2221 Alma Hwy, Van Buren, AR 72956 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Small, locally owned shop that has a nice selection of musical instruments and supplies. The owner is knowledgeable about guitar and cares about his craft.
Today my grandfather and I went in to but an amp he was previously told cost $350ish. He was so excited to get it. He hadn’t played in forever. He had a gig about a week ago but that was it for a long time and he didn’t have an amp for it. Well we got there and he was told it would be $150. My granddad doesn’t show emotion that well. But he started crying!! He was sooooo happy!!! He’s said he’s known the owner of the shop for a long long time and said “he’s always taken care of me.” Anywho… Made my week. Was the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a while. Y’all deserve more than 5 stars but sadly that’s the max on here. He’s been playing non-stop since we got home and it’s 8:30
It’s guitars what’s not to love. Good folks here.
Drove by & stopped because I’m new to the area and was looking for a music store. I’m a new drummer, so I was only curious about their drum supplies. Sadly, they had very little drum stuff, with only a handful of used cymbals for sale on display that I could try out.
The few drum sets they had were used, in bad condition & were stacked (not on stands or with heads on them). So, I was a bit disappointed.
Store looked a bit old, dirty & run down. The two guys working behind the counter were busy chatting with regular customers, but did welcome me when I entered the store. They were pleasant enough (which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 2). Wish they had more quality drum stuff to offer.
Interesting selection of mostly used gear. Friendly folks!
Hate it I could not find a clarinet ,:(
Dropped my guitar off before Christmas was told it would be ready 2nd week of January. Called 3rd week was told not yet. Called 1st week of February was told it was being repaired. Called 4th week was told it would be ready today or tomorrow. Still not ready. Called March 2nd was told still not ready had not started on it had no idea when they would start on it or when it would be ready. Then the smart ass says if I am in a hurry I could just come and get it he did not care.
Bought a brand new acoustic guitar here after years of using this store for my musical needs. The guitar wasnt staying in tune and i noticed the intonation was a little off as well. I took it back 4 days later and they offered me 100 bucks for it. It was brand new and i spend 400 on it and bought a 150 dollar case as well. Thats not the way you treat repeat customers. I will never be returning to this store again.
10. Cousins Music
Address: 1604 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Beau is exceptional at what he does. I’ve entrusted him with many repairs and setups over the years and do not go anywhere else. He’s also extremely knowledgeable about products and will guide you to what’s going to be best for you.
Nobody I trust with my gear more than Beau. He gets me right every-time. It’s not very often you get fair pricing, great quality service, AND in a timely manner. Absolutely love Cousin’s and wouldn’t take my gear anywhere else.
First visit me Cousins took time to visit with me will be back…
Good repair work
11. Arkansas School Band Services Inc
Address: 1023 S Arkansas Ave, Russellville, AR 72801 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
These boys know their stuff, enjoyed visiting and purchasing guitar parts.
How late are y’all open today
Good people good prices
These guys are always willing to help and are really knowledgeable .
Excellent service
Nice music shop.
Not enough inventory
I bought everything from guitar cases to a JBL top of line PA from them before I found out they are totally BOGUS! Sold me used merchandise as new, then got an attitude when I called them on it! Cuss me out when you’re a thiefing liar? I don’t think so! I wouldn’t buy a guitar pick from these people!!!
I bought a lot of things from Brent when the store sold instruments and amps and was always happy with them. Unfortunately, things have changed. I brought a guitar in that needed a rewire job. I was aware they were busy with festivals but they kept my guitar for 2 months and finally called and told me they didn’t have time to fix it. Needless to say, I wont be back.
13. Guitar Center
Address: 160 E Joyce Blvd, Fayetteville, AR 72703 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Been coming here for years. Always check the pre-owned rack. Found a Like New American Strat for less than 1/2 price.
Billyclub, Club Tattoo
The people here are excellent. The selection of equipment is broad. And there are learning materials and other accessories. Not much to complain about.
Great staff..!
Rather small location with a small selection. Unless you specifically need an in person visit, on line is a better option.
Doesn’t sell pig nose amps. Friendly employees. Ready to help. Clean. I didn’t like how many people were in the shop. Overall a okay experience.
Mostly everyone was friendly and got a good deal on cables
Hard to find/choose a new pair of drum sticks when they are locked behind a counter and you have to ask a salesman to get them for you—makes no sense. Also, walked in and 2-3 salespeople all looked at me and said nothing. Not a great first impression of customer service.
Poor service. Literally ignored me to talk to men that weren’t even purchasing anything.
Sexist- cooler-than-you store attitude
Showed curbside pickup and in stock for an item, drove 30 min to store and they apparently don’t have any in stock. Waste of time.
14. Music City
Address: 5121 Warden Rd Suite A1, North Little Rock, AR 72116 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Super quick and knowledgeable! Got everything I needed to get my kiddo up and going with her new guitar!
Great people, a very old store
I went into to buy a guitar. Very small selection
Lots of sheet music and DVDs but it is all on the computer today. Wonderful people. I wish them well!
My visit was to test the integrity of an electric guitar I had. Spoke to the guy behind the counter. (The one with the gray streaked goatee). Told him I was preparing to sell it via Facebook, and all I want to do is see if it sounds as it should. He said it was ok I was like great thanks. The buyer was from outta town and was shopping for guitar supplies. She had just bought amp still needed a cord possibly more. Asked her to meet up there since she was just down the road. She wanted to go in do to the rain. Instantly he started ranting that he’s a business man a professional and I was shady for what I had done. I was very polite. My reply ( I’m sorry I brought you a customer sure she meet up with me to buy a guitar for cheap but she still may need something) she was there for his childish act. ( she replied I do need a cord) He didn’t even bother to respond to her. He looks at me says someone smells bad like cigarettes… Wow 0 stars for your sir. Where’s your public relations at. Your welcome for that sell.
16. Saied Music Co
Address: 2880 Point Cir, Fayetteville, AR 72704 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
It was so easy to get the reeds for my daughter’s instrument.
Very knowledgeable and helpful!
Everyone is easy to talk to and friendly. They carry a wide assortment of musical equipment. Typically geared for the student musician.
Rentals are a bit pricey, but instruments are very high quality, and I have never had any major problems.
Perfect place for valve oil, slide grease and stuff like that. They have somebody who speaks in spanish which is also a plus.
When I got there I was excited to be buying a ukulele something I’ve been wanting since I was little and when I asked how much taxes were because $82 up from the $54 seemed outrageous the man said idk and didn’t even check it just took an extra $21 and when I was asking questions about other instruments he had. No information literally making me. Still waiting on the money to be back in my account had to go to bed hungry tonight
Do not let them store your debit card on file. I have an unauthorized charge on my account. ONLY PAY THEM THROUGH THE WEBSITE, NOT OVER THE PHONE.
Awful service. Bought strings for my guitar, and since im not very good at putting them on and they were the most expensive strings, i left my guitar for them to put the strings on for me bc they said theyd do it for free and that they would call me within a day or so. I waoted almsot a week and figured that i must have missed the call and went there to get my guitar. They hadnt even touched it and told me that it would be several more days before they could get to it. I just went ahead and took my guitar. Never getting my business again im just gonna go to guitar center.
17. All Star Music
Address: 3707 E Highland Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Im a long hual truck driver they were willing to help setup guitar on short notice sounds very knowledgeable over the phone. Unfortunately I got stopped at the Arkansas scale in West Memphis. Will difently make it a habit to stop next time I’m in the area.
Friendly staff
JR and his staff are professional and knowledgeable. They are very helpful.
Excellent guitars and equipment. Not as enlightened in guitar repair as I hoped and the attendant, who I believe was management, was…. condescending after he couldn’t answer my ‘test’ questions to see if he knew enough to warrant me asking about actual repair, but not exactly rude. Overall a great store and I will be back. Just not for repair advice.
It is more of a place to have your instrument worked on. I love it because real musicians work there and there is all kinds of vintage parts guitars, and amplifiers I never know what they will bring out of the back.
Nice person that really helped us
Complete trash heap. All fake or poorly kept used instruments, staff has no information or skill with instruments. Employees are just random friends of owner, who is apparently the only one with a shred of knowledge, which is still very little. They also charge 100$+ over retail value for amps, guitars, etc. wouldnt waste your time.
They had barely anything and it was all used. They were very rude to me because I was a teenager!!!!!!!!
Poor customer service.
Was looking to upgrade my banjo so I gave them a call. Asked if they had any of the Fender concert tone banjo and was told no which was fine. But when I asked what they did carry I was told that unless I wanted to spend a grand or so they all came from the same place.
My advice, in the future get off your butt and go look whenever a customer is willing to spend 400-600 bucks at your store. Answer the questions asked don’t tell me something irrelevant and act like I’m a bother.
18. Saied Music Co
Address: 4300 Rogers Ave #55, Fort Smith, AR 72903 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
Bought 2 song books and they are ordering the 3 one I wanted.
Nice people! Good quality reeds. 11/10 would recommend my dudes.
Super sweet and extremely helpful!
They are very friendly and have good service. I believe they are high on their prices.
They had the components I needed and were very helpful.
It’s good quality music and instrument accessories but their a little costly
I showed them the kind of guitar strings I needed specifically not knowing entirely the name because they’re the experts right? I said I needed bullet strings for two fender guitars… they sold me a pack of “strings with the ball on the end” and when I opened the package they weren’t what I needed. A musical instrument store where the workers don’t know anything about musical instruments. Don’t waste your time or money or money, you’ll just be gaslit.
I bought a keyboard DGX-640 from this store which is cost $920. Then I realized the keyboard was not brand new and there was no box at all. Later, I did a research online, (Ebay, Amazon..etc.) and found that the original price was only $599 including everything. Most of the keyboards they are selling are not brand new at all. Be ware!
19. Guitar Center
Address: 12315 Chenal Pkwy A, Little Rock, AR 72211 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
The guys running the place are extremely helpful. They have never been annoying or pushy toward me. Guitar Center of course is a huge corporation, so they are able to afford Gibson and Fender stock.
They have a large variety of different music equipment and are plenty staffed with employee knowledgeable on everything I look for
We got the beta 87A Shure Mic are the best
Small store but lots of musical goodies
This is one of my favorite places to visit if i have time when I’m in Little Rock. So many beautiful instruments, . This would be a great stop for music fans or players on that alone. However, the staff make it a must . Even if you can’t stand music, being around lovely people like the Guitar Center staff is a positive vibe you can’t afford to pass up!
Very helpful employees at this store.
Brandon Thomas is rude and treats humans less than animals. Lost all business from me and friends.I
Disappointed
Slow service, dont pay anywhere near value for instruments
20. Back Beat Music
Address: 613 Southwest Dr, Jonesboro, AR 72401 , Fórnoles , Arkansas , United States
I’ve worked only with Greg and he’s been great. I tend to come in with too many questions and he has had no problem addressing them and being patient. He helped me trade a guitar and he has never declined looking for other parts and assortments I need. Support your local businesses like these who treat their customers kindly.
Matt works well with my 11 year old. He’s progressing at a nice pace. We’re very pleased.
Very nice store with a great selection of high quality instruments and accessories. Owner is very nice and will do whatever it takes to make sure you are extremely satisfied it’s your purchase. If in the market I wouldn’t hesitate to visit this business.
Great place to shop,
However one small issue I had there was when I was wanting to repair my Fender Guitar. The guitar was beat up a bit, had no strings, paint was damaged, and the knobs for the tuning were gone and the plate was cracked. My friend found it in an abandoned place and it was a decent guitar it was just badly damaged.
I went there to the receptionist and all I got was, “You are better off buying a new guitar” Etc. He was insistent on me just buying a new guitar. It was a very arrogant moment.
There are good thing’s about the place but from my only experience on this It was a huge waste of my time trying to repair, love the shop, the staff is pretty chill but I believe there can be changes.
I have been coming here for years as most of the reviewers. I have always had a decent experience. I’m just an amateur guitar player who doesn’t practice much and i don’t know much about music. I have to be fair and mention that, yes, the staff has at times, seemed curt and disinterested but I’ve never had an out-and-out bad experience here. It’s possible that they were simply just distracted or overwhelmed, it happens! I got lessons here from a swell guy several years ago. I wish i could remember his name. They seem to have a large variety of items like accessories-tuners, picks, strings, stands for your chords, chord books, guitar cases and guitars. They offer stringing services, although I’ve never used them. I think I’ve seen a few banjos and mandolins for sale over the years, although those may have been instruments taken on trade, i don’t know for a fact if they stock and sell those instruments. I also don’t know if they do trade-in as I’ve never had anything to trade. I have seen ukuleles there for sale. It is possible that they have expanded the lessons they offer into other instruments, such as wind instruments but I am not sure. That would depend entirely upon there being any such instructors available here in Jonesboro that don’t already have their own business giving lessons. That’s a lot of “maybes”. It would be good to call and just ask, if this is important to you. I do know that they used to give drum lessons, it’s possible they still do. If you are a musician or have a musician in your life, check this place out!
I was charged $60 for strings and when I got my guitar back I had to tune it.I also feel they were a bit rude.
Darrel Sykes, one of the employees, was absolutely rude and passive aggressive to me the first time I walked in there. He told me that the music scene here is cliquish then proceeded to ignore the fact I was in the store after trying to sell me a cheap-o condenser mic (I was looking for an AT4040). Trying to give them another shot after a couple of years I took a bass there for a repair, restring, and a set-up. The guitar tech was curt, impersonal, and left the old strings on there. When I went to pick it up, Darrel, another guy, and someone who I believe is the owner just stood there talking to each other for several minutes before seeing why I was there. There were no other customers visible. My bass turned out to be unplayable when I got it home, every note buzzed, and the saddles were lowered as far as they could go.
The inventory is lacking and the aloofness of the staff makes the place a total disappointment. I’ll drive to Memphis, Nashville, or St. Louis to outfit my home studio. I would advise any parent looking to get their teenager started on an instrument to look elsewhere.
Edit in response to the owner’s reply:
If by “imagine it” you mean how your staff actually treated me, then yes, that’s exactly how it happened.
I usually do not write reviews about businesses, but I had to about this store. The customer service is absolutely horrid. There staff is arrogant and condescending. If you have any questions about a product, do not be surprised if they are rude and treat you like you do not know what you are talking about. They do not have that bad of a selection for a store that size, but all there items are overpriced. If you are looking to buy a reasonably priced product, buy it online from somewhere like Amazon or Sweetwater, and save yourself from a bad experience.
If you are looking to do a trade in, be prepared for them to give you as little money as possible. You might as well sell it online or sell it to a pawn shop. You will earn more money that way. They will find the lowest price online of the item you are buying, and that is what they will offer you. It does not matter how bad the condition of the product online is, or what condition your item is in.
This is one of the only local music shops in Jonesboro besides Allstar Music. I will not be returning to Back Beat Music. If you are trying to decide whether or not shop there, I will save you time: DO NOT! It is almost worth driving to Memphis to buy a product. I know this review seems very one sided, but I can not think of a single good experience I have had there. I wish there was something good I could say, but there is simply not.
