2. Guido’s Hot Springs Music
Address: National Park, 812 Higdon Ferry Rd, Hot Springs, AR 71913 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Best deals on fine vintage instruments! Very knowledgeable on many instruments. I can trust Guido.
Always fair prices on rare find’s!
Great music store! Great prices, rare vintage gear, and the owner really knows his stuff. Great musical atmosphere, and someone famous may walk in!
Friendly staff, clean store and service. Will purchase, “All” my music instruments there.
Great service and reasonable prices.
I have lived in Hot Springs for a year and a half now and I pass this this guitar shop almost every day on my way home. As a guitar player and music enthusiast I have been interested in visiting this store but never found time to do so. I finally was able to go inside the music store recently and I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly. I went with a friend of mine in early January. I was browsing the guitars, and even picked one up and stood at the register waiting to ask about a price on the guitar, since there was no price tag. The clerk was too busy talking to his buddy to even acknowledge my presence. After several minutes I returned the guitar to the shelf. Finally the clerk was done talking and I inquired about two guitars. I received very short answers that seemed ridiculous amount-wise. I honestly believe the prices I was quoted were made up on the spot. My friend had found a guitar strap that he thought I would like and brought it over to show me, then he returned it to the shelf after I told him that I rarely use a guitar strap. I continued browsing, and when I rounded the corner and came close to the register, the clerk said to me “what did you do with that guitar strap?” I replied that I had never touched a guitar strap. It doesn’t take a genius to realize this man was accusing me of shoplifting. A few minutes later the same clerk approached my friend and me and very rudely told us to leave the %&#@ing store and not to ever come back. He said we were suspicious because we hadn’t been to the store before and that we were wearing coats! May I remind you, it was JANUARY! Yes, we had never been to the store because my friend was from out of town and this was my first time to visit the store. I’m not going to lie and claim to be rich, but I enjoy buying new guitars and other instruments. I tried to talk to the clerk as an adult, even though his demeanor was that of someone on steroids trying to pick a fight. I guess this store doesn’t want new customers, and heaven help us if its cold outside and you’re wearing a jacket. I feel very disappointed at the customer relations of this store. My friend and I were potential customers and were treated as shoplifters simply because we were new and had jackets on. This is absolutely absurd and I can’t for the life of me understand why this guy attacked us. I have never had an experience this insane at a music store, and I’ve been to many guitar shops all over the country. If this clerk was not the owner of the store, then the actual owner should relieve him of his job because he is hurting the stores income by bullying customers for wearing a jacket in January. I can’t believe I was treated this way. There aren’t words to express how badly we were treated and how upset I am about this experience. I will make it a point to tell everyone I know and meet about the way they run their business there and recommend that they find a different store, one that treats its customers with dignity and respect. By the way, this store didn’t have a very good selection of anything and ridiculous prices, I have no idea how they are still in business. If they treat all new customers this way their future is bleak. Thanks, Hot Springs music–Guido especially, for being the rudest, most disrespectful, and worst customer service store ever! You’d get 1/4 of a star if I could mark it that way. You should be ashamed of yourself for acting like a child. Disgusting.
Only doing one star because no stars is not an option.
I’ve dealt with this store a few times and each time it’s literally been worse.
Bought a guitar and the binding broke off immediately – they blamed me.
$200 fix and I had to take it to another music shop I trust.
Asked for help on another matter and they told me it was “too much trouble.”
They literally don’t care about you just wanting your money.
If you do business with them beware.
I drove from Benton to look at a guitar I called about for my son. This has been several months ago but it left such a bad taste in my mouth I found myself thinking about how bad it was and decided I should warn others so they won’t be disappointed by a similar experience.
The guitar was beat up pretty bad but straight otherwise. The owner (the tall heavy set gentlemanwith longish gray hair) was asking $125 for the guitar and was the only person working. The guitar is $145 new (Ibanez Mikro) and was on sale new for $125 @ guitar center. I offered him $100 (way more than I should have). He didn’t bother to look up and said no. I asked would he budge. Again he answered no while hardly acknowledging me. I showed him that it was in sale for the same price new. He told me I should by the new one because he wasn’t budging on his price. I took his advice and that’s what I did. It seemed as if he didn’t care if he sold anything or not. I’ll never shop there again. I previously bought a MIM strat and nice amp from one of the other sales men. I mentioned to him that I was a repeat customer, he just didn’t care. Very disappointed. I wish I were writing g a glowing review about the great deal and excellent service I received. Unfortunately it was a bad experience from the time I stepped in and hardly acknowledged to the time I left. I notice that someone has an excuse for every negative review. I’m anxious to see what the excuse is for my experience considering I was hardly spoken to. I think you have to be friends with the owner for him to care you are even there.
– The person who replied to this made my pint for me. If the guitar came with a case why wasn’t that mentioned to my wife and I. We questioned why a guitar with dings and scratches was priced the same as new one. Wouldn’t that have been a great time to explain that it came with a $75 hard case. It should be no mystery why you can’t make a deal with everyone with these sales tactics. Take some responsibility for you actions and stop blaming your customers. You have accused them of stealing, damaging your equipment confusing you with a pawn shop. Lol!! I would bet every excuse you’ve replied with is a lie to excuse your actions and blame your customer. There are tons of guitars for sale on craigslist, in pawnshops, online I suggest anyone thinking of shopping with you use one of these other options. Have a nice day.
3. Quattlebaum Music Center
Address: 101 W Arch Ave, Searcy, AR 72143 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
This locally owned music store has been around my whole life. If they don’t have it they will order it for you. You are not just a fast buck to them. They have forged long lasting relationships with their customers who like us, continue to come back for years and years. They take time with their customers and answer questions and are very knowledgeable. You wont find a better music store in Central Arkansas.
Love hearing the jam sessions that are always happening ❤
Highly recommend this shop. Great environment and even better staff.
The staff are friendly, the products seem pretty good, and it’s generally a good place to fulfill your guitar-based needs. They also sell things beyond guitars, like music books for brass, percussion, woodwind, and other string instruments, which would definitely be helpful to anyone looking to learn. From my experience, don’t be afraid to ask seemingly stupid questions; Quattlebaum is a safe place for a beginner to reveal their lack of knowledge.
Lots of instruments. Decent prices.
Went there today. He has some great deals and he does layaway 6 month layaway if needed
They are selling stolen property.
Great home town store
Very rude to my wife and all she did was ask a queston please don’t do business with these people we don’t need rude people in this town.
4. Guitar Center
Address: 12315 Chenal Pkwy A, Little Rock, AR 72211 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Ed is off the charts cool. Really knows his stuff. I could chat guitars with him all day.
Great experience at this store. The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I came to the store looking for a new keyboard and left satisfied.
You still love going to guitar center it was like going to Disneyland for me. But now since kovid I went yesterday for the first time in years and so you have to wait outside of course six feet apart and there was only three of us in line and I think I waited there for about 20 minutes maybe probably about 20 minutes yeah for one person in front of me to go and then there’s one person behind me and so I’ll go in there and get patch cords and they sell me the wrong kind I mean they work but they’re not for what I want but I’m keeping the money to every kind of cable but I would have given a five still if it had been different but it was just based on having to wait outside and the it was so hot wearing that mask but I agree we should be wearing them in public and I wish everybody would and I’m glad they’re doing their part it’s just wasn’t that good of a day for me.
nice, helpful, staff
I was able to do my returns and find a used pedal here with no problem and great customer service. I did however see a drastic lack of guitars for sale. I wanted to try a squire classic vibe jazzmaster and they didn’t have a jazzmaster anywhere I could see.
So… I went into this location to purchase a board recently. When asked if I needed assistance, I explained what I was trying to do, and was pointed to the appropriate area. When I went back, however, the rep that should have been able to assist me was helping some other customers. After waiting for 15min., I went and sought assistance again, only to be redirected to the same rep (who was still assisting the other customer). Ultimately, after waiting another 5min, I left and purchased the board from Amazon. I understand that the reps have to help other customers, so I wasn’t necessarily upset by that. I just hate that I made the 45min trip, only to have to leave and buy it online. It was just inconvenient.
Terrible. Won’t be going back EVER!!! Low balled me on equipment trade… dropped my new equipment on the floor I literally had just purchased barely would let me check or help me see if it had any damage to the new unit I bought and kept my change from the purchase too.
They couldn’t answer any of my questions and some of the equipment did not work at all. Another customer helped me better than the employee’s did… 🙁
5. Guitar Center
Address: 160 E Joyce Blvd, Fayetteville, AR 72703 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Staff was friendly and helpful. They tell you to not be afraid to jam out.
Wonderful staff that is very helpful. Good selection.
Todo los estrumentos muy bonito
Good
It’s guitar center duh
Nothing in stock. Kinda rude.
So, I order two 18″ Sabian cymbals months ago. Only one came in and they told me the other was on backorder. So, after a couple more months, I contact them again and they tell me it’ll be in around October 15th. I contact them yesterday after of course not receiving a cymbal and they tell me the cymbal has been discontinued, this after going through two customer service reps. One of which, ended the chat with me when we were still chatting. Basically, they sold me a bill of goods. I ordered two of the same cymbals for a reason. I can’t do anything with one 18″. Now, all they offer is 16″ and 20″. So I asked them how they were going to make it right. They offered nothing besides me ordering a 20″. So I suggested that they take the 18″ back, credit that towards my account for two 20″ and put me back on the same interest free financing I had before. They agree to do that, but then only gave me a $235 credit. They originally charged me $499 for the cymbal but credit me less than half the price. All of this, after I’ve spent thousands of dollars with them the past year….an entire new kit plus hardware and cymbals. You do the math. Oh, and this is all their online service. This isn’t the GC in Fayetteville. But this is the only review I can post, so unfortunately, the local store has to bear the anger b/c GC corporate/online doesn’t care about the actual local stores or customers.
Thanks for providing horrible customer service, Guitar Center. I’ll never go back! And I will make it my mission to spread the word about how you do business with musicians and take hundreds of dollars from them.
Dont get the pro coverage, it is a scam. They did not cover a midi keyboard with a broken key.
6. Music Center
Address: 2809 W 28th Ave, Pine Bluff, AR 71603 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
All the employees are super helpful and kind. They are willing to take the time to explain options and help you.
Everyone is easy to talk to and friendly. They carry a wide assortment of musical equipment. Typically geared for the student musician.
Rentals are a bit pricey, but instruments are very high quality, and I have never had any major problems.
Always very helpful. Some hard to find items too.
When I got there I was excited to be buying a ukulele something I’ve been wanting since I was little and when I asked how much taxes were because $82 up from the $54 seemed outrageous the man said idk and didn’t even check it just took an extra $21 and when I was asking questions about other instruments he had. No information literally making me. Still waiting on the money to be back in my account had to go to bed hungry tonight
Pretty great selection of instruments, however I felt extremely awkward with the staff and felt like my questions were intrusions. You could chalk this up to me just being anxious, but I would have much more appreciated an employee who could recommend stuff to me, and willing to help me find what I’m looking for. I’ll be going to A different shop to get what I need
Do not let them store your debit card on file. I have an unauthorized charge on my account. ONLY PAY THEM THROUGH THE WEBSITE, NOT OVER THE PHONE.
10. Palmer Music Company
Address: 1131 Front St, Conway, AR 72032 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
These guys are awesome! Tremendously helpful and easy going!
Every guitar in this place is set up correctly. Even the cheap <$200 student imports.
We are fortunate to have Palmer Music Co in central Arkansas. Professional guitar techs, music lessons, dealers in some of the leading instruments in the world today right here for all of us to touch and feel. Thank you Preston and staff.
Talked to Joey in the store today. He took some time to help me plan for an upcoming purchase for our church. They have a large selection of all kinds of musical instruments and they do lessons, as well. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Highly recommended! Thanks, Joey!
I was looking at electric guitars and they didn’t offer to let me plug any of them in. How are you truly going to know if you like one or not if you can’t hear the sound.
My guitar was in for repairs for about 4 months. Almost no communication was provided about status of the repair work. It’s understandable with Covid making it difficult to have parts shipped, but the lack of adequate communication was uncomfortably disappointing. I don’t blame the young individual who was working on my guitar, but rather leadership who should have provided direction on appropriate and timely customer service communication. It doesn’t matter to me that it would have taken considerable time for repairs. But the lack of communication stating that due to a backlog in parts, and it was just a waiting game, would have been enough. A 30 second phone call every couple of weeks or so to advise a customer that no progress has been made is better than nothing…it would have been enough to have left my guitar there for months longer. The ironic thing about all this is that I really like the store and the people at Palmer Music, so I will most likely continue to purchase my music supplies from them and I hope my experience there was a one-off….
Went in expecting to buy a new guitar on 01/26/2023. The man behind the counter was very unfriendly & unhelpful.
I found one I wanted to buy but I just didn’t really want to give my money to a person who didn’t know how to smile.
Another employee walked by and was even more emotionless than the other guy. I left feeling very unwelcome.
I will not be back.
Go to GUITAR CENTER instead (you can actually have FUN there).
11. Valley Piano Co
Address: 3515 W Main St, Russellville, AR 72801 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Super quick and knowledgeable! Got everything I needed to get my kiddo up and going with her new guitar!
Very friendly and knowledgeable. Good selection
Brian and Valley Piano are a Russellville institution, and even if you don’t have a baby grand to tune, you know you want a ukulele for your folksy teen with the great voice to put on their YouTube channel . They have a sweet, black, v-head Dean electric a-la Pantera I’ve been eyeballing too… Valley Piano does it all. Right. .
Great people, a very old store
I went into to buy a guitar. Very small selection
Lots of sheet music and DVDs but it is all on the computer today. Wonderful people. I wish them well!
My visit was to test the integrity of an electric guitar I had. Spoke to the guy behind the counter. (The one with the gray streaked goatee). Told him I was preparing to sell it via Facebook, and all I want to do is see if it sounds as it should. He said it was ok I was like great thanks. The buyer was from outta town and was shopping for guitar supplies. She had just bought amp still needed a cord possibly more. Asked her to meet up there since she was just down the road. She wanted to go in do to the rain. Instantly he started ranting that he’s a business man a professional and I was shady for what I had done. I was very polite. My reply ( I’m sorry I brought you a customer sure she meet up with me to buy a guitar for cheap but she still may need something) she was there for his childish act. ( she replied I do need a cord) He didn’t even bother to respond to her. He looks at me says someone smells bad like cigarettes… Wow 0 stars for your sir. Where’s your public relations at. Your welcome for that sell.
12. Ollandoc Guitar
Address: ship worldwide, 117 Meadowcliff Cir, Fairfield Bay, AR 72088 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
This is the best and only string shop in Little Rock. Staffs are very kind and professional. Love this shop.
Amazing violin service! They worked on my violin for me, putting on a new bridge, strings, chin rest, and did a couple minor repairs. Reasonably priced and got it done well before the estimated time. My violin has never looked or sounded better!
Perfect place. Incredibly easy to get to, a great experience for me as a beginner. They went to extra lengths to help me.
I love that there’s a local place to have your stringed instruments adjusted and usually while you wait. My only complaint is that they charged me two different prices for the same service. My family is new to violin lessons and the instrument, so I can’t be absolutely sure that there was no difference…but there should be a uniform price for tuning/restringing a 1/4 sized violin. The staff is very courteous and informative. They also have a list of great string instrument instructors.
Unique violin shop
16. Independent Music Services Inc
Address: 9851 Brockington Rd #6, Sherwood, AR 72120 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Did an incredible job on my flute. Excellence . Top notch work
Great place for horn repair. Fast and friendly service
Robert does magnificent brass work.
Did excellent work on my old trombone, very nice people!
Very helpful and informative
I came in with a horn to have repairs done to it. I needed to have my saxophone’s neck recorked. I needed additional repairs, but above all needed the recorking. The repairman came up, looked at the instrument brand and said he could do nothing for me because if he broke something, he would have to make a part. I thanked him and walked out. I thought by the ratings that this would be a location with skilled craftsmen, but instead feel like it’s people prone to mistakes so they can only work on standard brands and not all instruments. I’d consider calling before coming. They are the only place around for quite a distance and driving over 60 miles to be treated like this felt very awful!
Went in for some reeds and walked out with a new SASSY Sax a few months ago. And OHhhhhh…! What rich Sound-Vibes she conveys.
They have supplies for band and Bill does instrument repair. They also have items for guitar and piano.
I’ve never been in the store,I called looking for someone to do a repair an set up on my violin. They referred me to Bill Carter. The best most giving string instrument repair guy I’ve ever met. So they get 5 stars for that
They are great. But they closed the business. They still do instrument repairs from home though.
Very rude!
18. Arkansas Record-CD Exchange
Address: 4212 MacArthur Dr, North Little Rock, AR 72118 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Amazing store, some things I could not find, I have found here, amazing store highly recommend it to anyone in the area that likes cds and records
Great place for all music, even old school music.
Great selection.
As a record lover and currently building my collection, it’s a great place to find all types of music. You really need a full day search out gems!
Went in first time to check it out. Guy with glasses was helpful and nice. Burned up some time trying to work out the odd system of organization and ended up only finding one record I wanted. Went to check out and some different guy with a cold personality said “sorry 10 dollar minimum” … really? You can’t pay your .40 cent merchant fees considering I drove to this crumbling part of town and spent 30 min looking around? I don’t see any reason to return.
Prices are a little high and cashier was cold and rude.
More than an hour to checkout 20 items and could not figure out what the total was, highest I saw written down was over 17,000 dollars for for what came out to be $350
High prices and a grumpy owner. I’ll go to been around records first.
Wow. The only good thing I can say about this place is the selection and organization. Otherwise, I will not be back. You may not bring backpacks, large purses, or jackets in. He literally will make you take off your jackets. He also has a big velvet purple rope at the entrance. It looked gross and had been taped up. I didn’t want to touch it. I stepped over it. Don’t do that. He will get mad. He quickly snapped at me for stepping over the rope and my husband for not taking off his jacket and said didn’t you read the sign. The other bad thing besides his attitude are the prices! Yikes! 1 week prior I bought a new vinyl from Books a Million for 2 dollars cheaper then he had priced. Sure enough everything I picked up was more then what I could buy online or at Books a Million. I came here for a deal, but didn’t find any!
19. FYE
Address: 4501 Central Ave #142, Hot Springs, AR 71913 , Ilche , Arkansas , United States
Really enjoy shopping here, but I do hate the constant collection of signing up for a card that you end up getting charged for if you don’t call to cancel. The “store” discount card shouldn’t cost the customer money just to save money.
It’s ok use to have a better selection of stuff.
For a dying franchise, their prices are$$$$$.one of the only retail places I know you can still get cds if that’s your jam.
Not a big selection.
NO fudge
I wouldn’t get even one star spent over $50 on DVD they play for 20 min and start skipping this is the third time this is happened called to see about a refund and the manger wouldn’t listen to what I had to say he keep interrupting me I would say just save your money and stay away from this store if u don’t want the headache
