Great repair job on my brass instrument. Good selection and very helpful staff.
Nice people but not the best selection of basic music equipment (for example, no slides for guitar).
Has all instrumental needs.
Sadly, the economy has taken a toll on this business. A streamlined version of its former self, therefore options on some products seem kind of limited. Still worth a visit and nice to see products in person versus online. Worth supporting local business to check them out. They had what I needed so we left happy.
Bad customer service! They gave me the wrong pay off on my rental and then charged a late fee a month later. They wouldn’t waive it and stated that they know they have bad customer service. Wow!
Also, good luck having someone call you back if you leave a message (most times the voice mailbox is full so you can’t even leave one). Not once did I get a call back.
Usually great service, this time took instrument in for repair, was told $85 and be ready the next day. 10 days later, after calling twice it was “found”. bill $95
Really expensive and very rude customer service.. they know they are the only music shop and they take advantage of all of us band parents… if you look on line you can find anything cheaper than them
2. Hart Music
Address: 417 Main St, Grand Junction, CO 81501 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
My experience was much like everyone else’s. The staff are knowledgeable. The selection is impressive. The prices are fair. The owner, Jan, took the time to talk to me and told me about some history. He and Hart Music have been here since 1961. I will be back to shop for my guitar and music gear.
Awesome.
Very friendly and helpful staff! In my opinion the best music store in town!
Good local business. Bought some headphones and wireless headset mic from them. Had a little bit of a mix up but they were helpful and took care of the issue. Good local business. Recommend.
Good local music store
These guys did a great job helping me set up a home recording studio Aaron was super helpful even though the store was packed full of people they do have a lot of traffic but they do take the time to walk you through your questions. Honestly I hadn’t picked up a guitar or a play the keyboard in over 5 years until I walked into the store now to daily thing love music
Was sold a keyboard being told by the salesman it had a USB port to hook it up to the computer, write music with it and that it had touch sensitive keys. Wrapped it up as a gift for the daughter. When she opened it, we were telling her how she could hook it up to her computer and she was really excited. Then she started playing it, no touch sensitive keys or USB port. The very reason we bought it. So disappointing. We took it back, were told so sorry, our mistake. You can buy this one for 50.00 more that has everything you want and when you want to trade that one in, we’ll give you a great deal on it. We paid 172.00 for the keyboard at Harts music….I found it on Amazon, same keyboard for 99.00. Wish I would have checked Amazon first. Will not be going back to Harts Music totally took advantage of our ignorance in keyboards.
Not impressed! My first experience with this shop, I brought an old acoustic in for some setup work after I switched to lighter strings. I did a neck adjustment but still had e string buzzing and a b string ring. I needed a new nut, and & bridge adjustment, fret leveling too which I explained, but Jan absolutely is clueless I guess all he heard was “string change”. I have a bunch of guitars I can do basic work on them and I’ve been changing my own strings for 30 years! but Jan promised me a pro would look at it and contact me to discuss the repairs. They shined me for a week, never tried to contact me as I promised, then all they did was change my strings (and they even put the wrong ones on!). Now all the strings buzz! So I’m right back where I started. I’m local too & gave them every chance, they failed miserably.
Bought a bass before I had a cell phone.
Was marked $1200, scratched out, marked $800, scratched out marked $600. Nice bass, thought it was a good deal. Missing hard case so got a soft case instead.
Found out later the retail price is $400.
Deceptive pricing.
3. Grand Valley Music Co.
Address: 2486 Patterson Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
Awesome little local music store with instruments for you or your kiddo! You can buy, rent, or rent to own.
They also have lots of sheet music, including all the books, reeds, ligatures, rosins, oils, cleaning kits and everything else you need to survive having a kid in band or orchestra.
This review is mostly for the repair shop.
They did a great job setting up my 2009 Les Paul Studio (I purchased online “as is”). It was in real rough shape like totally unplayable and my wanting to switch to lighter strings didn’t help it. Fixed the hump in the neck, the most noticeable problem & adjusted everything else. The guitar now plays like new again set up with 9’s & with the Burstbucker Pro’s it sound’s frikin awesome!!!
It was done in 24 hours! I picked it up just after opening day after I brought it in.
The cost wasn’t bad, less than what I had expected.
The folks in this store are very cool but
honestly I’ve only purchased strings at the store, the prices are competitive & they’ve always had why I needed.
I don’t buy new guitars! never have never will.
Like many of you I haven’t had the best experience with Guitar Center online so I was kinda anxious about going to the Grand Junction store, but it’s a local store and they do a great job.
Brand new store yet very well stocked with a wide variety of instruments and decent accessories with more to come im sure.
The Staff was very helpful and seem to sincerely want to meet our needs and patiently answered all our questions.
The prices are reasonable with some exceptional savings on certain items, and a pleasant surprise they give Military discounts to Veterans and Active Members, Well done greatly appreciated !
And lastly, thus far all my purchases (bass, amp, cables, guitar stand, guitar strap, music stand and 2 instructional books etc.) have been of very good quality, the Ibanez bass is a stunning blood mahogany red with a beautiful gloss finish and crisp pick ups and sweet timbre.
Overall a great place for musicians to feed their musical interests.
Update 06/13/2023
Purchased a few more items
ProLine complete MIC PACK.
Comes with mic, mic cable, mic stand, and mic clip. Plus mic case and case for entire ensemble. Overall quality to price ratio is excellent. Passive mic so you will need an amp/ power source.
HARBINGER LV7.
7 channel mixer with Bluetooth. A lot of bang for the buck and lots of bells and whistles, nice pre-amp.
ZOOM B1Xfour.
Multi-Effects Prcoessor with expression pedal (for bass). Very user-friendly interface and good basic effects to begin with and you can program many more. Built-in Tuner which is very cool and easy to use and Built-in drum machine that has a nice punch and decent kick to it.
These guys are Awesome , Great People, Great Service!!!!
Read all of Guitar Center reviews, then go into the store. You’ll soon see all the negative reviews are true.
Horrible place. I’ll stick with the local music stores.
6. Dreya Aman Music
Address: 492 Green Acres St B, Clifton, CO 81520 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
Best Gift Shop in GJ! Amazing customer service, Denver Broncos/NFL merchandise, unique finds.
Neat little store. That have all sorts of things, like NFL memorabilia, dragons and fairy’s, gnomes, cats, fu dogs, pictures, wallets, music boxes, salt and pepper shakers, statues, jewelry; a little bit of everything. Very nice folks that manage it, also the owners I gathered. Definitely a place to take a little bit if time to check out.
8. Triple Play Records
Address: 530 Main St, Grand Junction, CO 81501 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
This has got to be one of my favorite shops in Grand Junction. Records, posters, t-shirts, discs, stickers, etc… They have everything cool!! Staff is very friendly and helpful..
I got wonderful service here not most of the time but every time I highly recommend going here for incense
Great inventory and staff! I shop here
Regularly come check them out you’ll be glad you did.
Cosy shop down town for nic knacks and such.
I’ve been shopping here since I was a kid and every time I enter the store it brings back great memories!! Great Vinyl & music selection, very knowledgeable staff.
Awesome local music store
Ive been in and love records, tapestries and frisbee golf. I dont mind paying. But when i was in Oklahoma new mexico and even colorado. Places that sold frisbee golf disc allowed you to turn them in would give no more that two calls to the owner to return for no fee. Triple play makes money off everyone else trying to be good sports and return things. So the person who finds the disc if they dont or can’t call turns it into Triple play they dont give any money to who turned it in. Even if that person did try the owner. Now Triple play has it. So to get your own disc back you have to pay. The person who called you wanted to return it. Didnt ask for money said or willingly drove it down there so people could get it then the business takes advantage of that and makes money. I bet if you lost your wallet in the store and someone turned it in they would ask for money so you could have your wallet back. Same concept and all.
I use to love this place, however their support to slander local businesses has led me to never be willing to do business with them again. I would not recommend them to anyone!
WORST Store ever! Very Rude and disrespectful, even cussed at people. Do not shop at this store.
9. Fruitvale Liquors
Address: 505 30 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81504 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
Let’s go! A stage for you!
Timely, professional, respectful. What else could you ask for?
Jason did a great job for our event here in Parachute CO. The sound was crisp and clear and everything went off without a hitch. We look forward to having him help us out in August with another event. Highly recommended to anyone.
Equipment loooked and sounded professional on time service. Highly recommended.
11. High Desert Trading Post
Address: 3112 US-6, Grand Junction, CO 81504 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
Great staff, selection and prices! You will not find a more honest pawn shop on the Western Slope! HIGHLY recommend!
Decent prices and friendly staff, they have quite an interesting selection of items, camping, campers, watercraft, tools, and lots of knick knacks.
It’s a good place
Always have good stuff for sale but just super scatter brained! Got a price on a set of rims one day. Went home and sold a bunch of things to come up with the money (around Christmas no one has extra money) and went back to buy them and they told me that’s how much they have into them and boost the price up 150$. Not sure why they would tell me how much they bought them for! I just wanted a set price not a circus show! Extremely disappointing!
I have shopped here since the day they opened the doors and service was 5 stars ..recently went to pick up a pawn and stuff was missing but they are not responsible..lost my business for good and the customer service is the worst now
Have gone in multiple times with different items and was told no one wants it. Lacking good service and not personal at all.
I took my laptop there for a quick pawn for a short term. They never provided me with a written date to come get it before action would be taken. So curiously I called and they said they sold it…. Wait less than 30 days and its sold? No this is not there normal policy to not give a slip with the info on it. Here is the thing that chaps my ass so bad, we didn’t even get a call notifying us it was up.
See those vultures on their sign over looking their parking lot? Those arnt decorative its a mission statement wrapped in a metaphor.
Go anywhere but here!
12. First National Pawn
Address: 2892 North Ave B, Grand Junction, CO 81501 , Fruitvale , Colorado , United States
I shop here all the time and have never had a bad experience. The staff are all friendly and always get me a deal on purchases. The large collection of DVDs and Blu-rays are what I mainly shop for, but they have a lot of TVs, games, computers, tools, and car stereo/home theater equipment as well. My favorite pawn shop in town!
National Pawn is a great pawn shop for the West Slope. Very organized, fair pricing, and good customer service. We stop weekly to check the the inventory as it changes quickly.
Friendly service. Good selection. Nice Colorado type of gear. Always interesting.
Set back a little ways but they do negotiate with the prices I can dig that
I think you guys are a really good pawn shop and am glad to shop there the only problem I have is that some of the items are almost new pricing while being used and quite a few years older
I got a bow and fishing pole for a great price
I brought in two items both brand new one was worth $400 the other one was worth $190 I was told I would get $75 for both of them.
Trash
Do not do any business with First National Pawn.
The so called manager Landon is extremely rude and sarcastic. They’re a bunch if liars. Have the worst customer service skills I’ve ever seen.
They say one thing on the phone then do another. Then they laugh in your face when your angry. No apology for misinformation.
