Knowledgable staff and an amazing stock of guitars. The most impressive set of archtops I’ve found anywhere!
I had one of the most positive guitar store experiences anywhere at Acoustic Music.
I called ahead specifying the guitars I was interested in checking out, arrived with them all ready to go in a dedicated room to play them in. No straining to hear the guitar over other players, no need to feel self-conscious, nobody hovering over me. Huge thanks to Ian for being super helpful, friendly and making it a great experience!
I purchased an Eastman E10D acoustic here. Jad them install a K&K pickup as well. Great service, great folks, great shop!
Had a guitar cable when I needed it.
No prices listed
Thé Owners are lousy business
Not many mandolins

Awesome staff and great deals! No surprise they have 5 stars!!!
I love this place, i go in just to look at the product and I always end up buying something.
The older guy really helped me with my guitar! He was so nice!
I just went to this store with my violin wanting the sound post set and to re-hair my bow. When I walked in there were two ladies at the counter. As I opened my case asking the the lady in the white turtle neck with straight brown hair if they re-hair bows? She snapped that they didn’t. The nice girl next to her chimed in as said out loud “She re-hairs bows?” Then the other lady gave a look and said I would need to buy a new one! She then picked up my violin and started to point out things about my only violin that were not good enough for her to re-set my sound post! I then asked “How much to just re-set the sound post?” She refused me service and said “Good Luck!” AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN! I think I didn’t fit the “type” they prefer to give services to?
Poor customer service.
Brought my daughter’s flute in to be repaired. Over a month and they never touched it. No time table given for when they would fix it.
3. Martel Music Store
Address: 1 Whiting St, Plainville, CT 06062 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
Went by the store today awesome selection of really cool guitars that aren’t available anywhere else in CT!
Great stock and friendly service.
I spoke with Shelley over the phone an had a wonderful experience! She was very knowledgeable about the brands and products they carry and provided me all the information I needed. Would recommend!
Interesting store with some interesting gear. They don’t seem to carry Fender or Gibson. They had a stomp box manufacturing class going on when I visited.
Purchased a guitar for 750, now walking out with 637. Unfortunately I was not told about a very unfair and sneaky return exchange policy until I had asked after already completing the purchase. Also could not see clearly a visible sign inside that states anything about a return policy. When I asked where the sign was upon trying to return this guitar he pointed to have a corner and I still did not see the sign. I do believe that a return policy sign should be at the register for full disclosure. The law does state you are entitled to a full refund if you are not told about the refund policy during the time of the transaction, which I was not informed of that. Limited selection and unfortunately subject to a very steep restocking fee or store credit, if you are a serious musician make sure you know this first as you know that buying instruments is quite expensive and it is hard to want to get locked into something that you do not truly love.
As one reviewer already stated. They have a terrible return policy especially with online purchases. Good store as long as you know you’re going to keep the item but who really knows, its musical gear, its hard to tell if your going to dig it or not until you play it with your rig. Returning a pedal (or probably anything) is just not worth it due the return fees. 2 stars because I received it pretty quickly but definitely wasn’t packed that well. Without a doubt this will be my last purchase from this store. There’s plenty of other great stores to choose from that won’t bend you over on return fees. **Edit for response to the owner** Yes you do clearly state your return fees online. “Small restocking fee” is a bit of an understatement…your restocking fee is 10%. If I pay $250 for a guitar pedal. Right off the bat you’re keeping $25 of my return. I couldn’t imagine purchasing a guitar online through your store.
4. Guitar Center
Address: 50 Boston Post Rd, Orange, CT 06477 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
Some great inventory and helpful associates at this guitar center.
Had a great time looking for things I need. Awesome customer service.
Their selection is amazing!
Good prices
I’ve been dealing with guitar center for years. Bought my second drum kit in Manchester and the negotiating was easy. Brought my old guitar gear years and years later (consisted of preamps and what not) to Orange, and they paid fair prices for the stuff I was willing to accept offer-wise (although they tried completely low balling me on a SansAmp RPM). HOWEVER . . . went in the other day to diagnose my Peavey 6505+ . . Now, I’m not going to name names or throw a salesman under the bus for lack of knowledge on tube amps, but I was actually kind of surprised at the lack of knowledge haha. While that wasn’t an issue at all, seeing that I don’t expect GC salespersons to deliver advice regarding tube care, I was, however, surprised that a 6505+ on the floor had a blown fuse (visibly blown), and I had to provide troubleshooting services in order to facilitate my visit. I just wanted to boot it up to test what the normal gain sounded like vs. my specimen, which was lent to me to diagnose high hissing sounds. On the flip-side, the audio department has a very kind and seasoned salesperson. This guy knows a lot about gear, and offered me fair trade-in prices for some random stuff. I didn’t intend to sell much to GC, seeing they receive a bad rep from having to re-sell gear (and that’s just the business, to be honest), which results in low payouts to those selling gear, but I was satisfied, nonetheless. I will continue business with them, but likely never seek simple advice from the guitar department. Kind of sad, hence the company name.
Decided to bump up my rating, after a very bad experience, due to the service of Chuck in the guitar department. Had a few things I wasn’t using and Chuck gave me a very fair offer for all of them. Whatever you do GC give the guy a raise and retain him he’s an asset to the store!
After guitar set-up I went back home and the guitar had the same issues in a few days. On another ocassion after acoustic guitar set up, I realized that for the high E they had used a B string instead of the high E string. I changed it and the guitar sounded better. I understand that the volume is high but they should get more people for repair. Never going there for guitar repair, buying equipment, yes but never again for guitar repair
There’s no place on earth like the Orange Guitar Center, and that’s for the best. I’ve been coming to this location for the past 15 years, and its decline over that time period is tragic. I remember when I was a kid it was my favourite music store. The employees made me feel so welcome even though I was barely a beginner. Now, it couldn’t be more opposite. I had some time to kill after work today and I needed some strings so I took a short drive down. There must’ve been 3 or 4 employees, and maybe 2 or 3 customers. I walked around for 20 minutes without even a glance from any of the people working there. When I finally was offered assistance, I asked to play one of the locked used guitars ($2k) and the employee looked at me like I just shot somebody in front of him. “Are you going to buy it today? Because that isn’t something we normally do” (B.S., I’ve asked to play guitars 3x as expensive at other locations and they were happy to oblige me). How am I going to know if I want to buy an instrument before I get to play it? The employee begrudgingly, as if he was doing me a favour, got up from behind the desk he had been sitting at for the past 20 minutes and unlocked it for me. I fiddled around with it for a short while, and it was immediately evident that the guitar was in dire need of a fret dressing and general clean-up, which they failed to do when they bought it in. I then headed into the acoustic room to check it out before I left. As I was getting ready to head out, a customer stopped me and asked me if I could help him pick a guitar. I wish I could say that was the first time that’s happened here, but this is the 3rd time in the past few months that a customer has been so desperate for help, and made feel so unwelcome by the staff that they had to ask me, another customer, for help. I pointed out a Yamaha to him, and as I was taking it down I noticed it had the wrong tag on it and was priced $100 higher than it should be. And god forbid you actually get help and make it to the register, because that’s where they’re gonna try as hard as they can to push Asurion’s insurance coverage on whatever you’re buying. Many employees will ask you 3+ times if you want it. I’ve seen others refuse to take no for an answer, and they will often gang up on you to make you uncomfortable enough to capitulate and say yes just to get out of there. This is mainly corporate’s fault, as the main metric they care about is insurance attachment. I’ve seen the District Manager show up to stores and berate the staff in front of customers for failing to hit their insurance sales goal. It is incredibly predatory, especially towards beginners. I was foolish enough to get the insurance once and I eventually had to give up trying to use it due to the constant run-around I got from Asurion. I worked for GC for a few years and that was ultimately one of the main reasons I left. The only reason they get 2 stars is because they have a very full and extensive selection of gear. I implore you not to visit this store, and I implore you further not to give any Guitar Center location your money. They care nothing for art or creativity after the Debt-Leveraged buy-out and only will help you if they think you’re gonna spend a lot of money. For shame.
Watch out for this company and this particular store. I ordered a brand new Squier CV Jazzmaster recently and the guitar that I received from the Orange, CT store was very far from new. It had scratches on it, stickers peeling, there was nothing in the box besides the guitar and the vibrato bar, and it was simply wrapped in bubble wrap and tossed into a plain cardboard box.
Calling Guitar Center customer service was an absolute NIGHTMARE as well. I was constantly put on hold and passed around to different representatives. It seemed like nobody has any idea what they were doing or they just did not care. It was an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. Eventually I got hold of a lovely customer service representative (who somehow worked for Musicians Friend and not Guitar Center which was weird) and she was able to refund me just $50 for my troubles which I accepted just to put an end to this awful situation.
5. Matty’s Music LLC
Address: 654 Enfield St, Enfield, CT 06082 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
I had my month-old acoustic guitar set-up by Matty. He lowered the strings, put lighter-gauge strings on, and rubbed a little oil on, too. All in one day, at a great price!!! It feels and sounds great! Also, he plays the guitar really well, and I’ll most likely take lessons from him.
Had to get my guitar fixed. Matt took care of it right away and did a great job. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend
Matty is knowledgable and always willing to help. This is also a great place to take lessons on your instrument of choice, whether you’re just starting out or already have some experience.
Great service.
Dirty, stuff everywhere, completely disorganized.
6. DuBaldo Music Center
Address: 881 Main St, Manchester, CT 06040 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
That was likely the most pleasant guitar buying experience I have ever had. I could not recommend patronizing this amazing store more. Thank you so much!!
I’ve never been more comfortable trying out guitars in a shop. I drove over an hour to get here and the customer service made it completely worth it. They have an incredible selection of great sounding instruments and went out of their way to make sure I found the guitar I wanted. Highly recommend this place.
Prompt and professional! Recently purchased an SBMM Majesty guitar online and it came in perfect condition with Dubaldo only upgrades, Will definitely recommend them and will be making more purchases in the future. Thanks Dubaldo team!!
Great service
7. Bethel Music Center – Instrument Sales, Rentals, Lessons and Repairs
Address: 273 Greenwood Ave #101, Bethel, CT 06801 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
Gil is a super friendly guy! My son really enjoys guitar lessons with him!
The Music Score is now at 2315 and under new management. The store offers lessons for all instruments (including vocal), rentals and purchases on all instruments (including pianos.) The Music Score includes workshops and classes, like Music Together for toddlers, Music Fun Time for small children, and more. Jazz Band is held on Wednesday nights, Open Mic every last Friday. Other fun times are held, like Karaoke, Music Movie night, and Game night. Events are held about four times a year like The Frozen Spring Thaw, Open Houses, Christmas parties, recitals, new years for kids, and more. This store has a little of everything and caters to people from newborns to senior citizens. When you walk in the door you are part of the family and the teachers, associates, and owners take pride in caring and educating. A true mom and pop shop who are part of the community and helping it grow.
Really great place to stop by and get an instrument. The prices seem a bit higher but the quality is surely within the quality you’d expect.
I bought a ukulele here and the quality and sound lived up to the price.
Very knowledgeable and friendly.
My daughter is signed up for lessons and her teacher is great (I hear the others are as well). Just try not to deal with the guy that owns it.
I tried to return my daughter’s Viola due to the school no longer providing classes. It was a total nightmare to get an answer in regards to my credit. They are very irresponsible and I am very disappointed by the lack of care towards my return which was even misplaced! Mom and dad are not helpful at all and he should really look at keeping them home, they make things worse!
Arrived at 10:00am (they open at 10am, but not today). I waited and they finally arrived. All I needed was guitar strings, but they had none. What a waste of time.
9. Music & Arts
Address: 1863 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 , Granollers , Connecticut , United States
Very nice selection. Their inventory covers the spectrum of all things musical. I went there for strings for my 6 string bass, they understandably only had sets for a 5 string.
See Paul Fredericks for lessons if he has any availability, he is the best in the area. Helpful, knowledgeable store staff can take care of your equipment needs.
Thank you for your service n attention. Thank guys for helping me to pick the perfect gift for my wife.
Sales staff were not super knowledgable. We rented our son’s violin for school through them and billing was always an issue even though it was on monthly automatic payment. Glad the saga is over.
The prices are ok. The parking can be tough. The person working the desk was dismissive of my questions. Not a lot of inventory on display. They seem more about instruction.
Don’t rent any instrument from this place. People are very rude. Calling customer service takes forever to get someone on the phone. Unfriendly customer service, supervisors don’t want to talk to customers. Find another place to rent instruments for your children.
WARNING! WARNING TO PARENTS!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP FOR RENTALS! Should be ZERO stars.
We rented from here for 5 years, the first 4 went off without a hitch. This year has been an absolute nightmare. We rented two instruments, same address, same name, same payment. ONE account had no issues, the other the local store put in the wrong address (where we have never lived). Over the last 4 months I have called their headquarters, left messages, emails, etc. trying to get a paper bill MAILED so that I could pay whatever was owed. They were incapable of sending this, and every time I called in could not even find the right account or would tell me everything was fine and they did not know why I was being contacted. When asked why they could not have looked at our other rental account for the correct information they were stunned into silence. Absolute incompetency from the sales staff all the way up to the billing department supervisor who assigned our missing “account” to a collections agency and then gave us the WRONG agency. Save yourself the trouble and stay far, far away from here.
Very bad and rude customer service, hang up my phone.
