I’ve taken several guitars to Terry at Guitar Junkyard and every time my guitars come out sounding and playing so much better. It’s really remarkable. I live over an hour away from Lasalle but it is well worth the trip. This is the absolute best place to go for work done on a guitar or anything with strings. Terry is very thorough and does excellent work and his prices are very fair. I highly recommend Guitar Junkyard.

This place is absolutely amazing, and should be on your list to visit! This iconic shop is known nationally and internationally, and the owner is a delight, who’s personal tale is as exceptional as his collection of ukuleles and other instruments – and he might actually know everything about ukuleles! Very fair prices, excellent instruments, tuners, sheet music and cards, in fact everything you need to play a ukulele, from beginners to advanced musicians! Highly recommend!!

What a fantastic shop! John really knows his musical instruments, especially Ukeleles and Guitars. Great store, make sure to stop by the Ukelele Station America. Love this place!!

Owner was very nice to chat with. It’s a very nice made new building. It reminds me of a fire station, but the owner constructed at himself. They have everything from $30 ukuleles all the way up to almost 10 grand guitars. Cool to see small music stores, making it in the small towns.

Every time I try to call them they never pick up and they never are open it seems like so maybe I’ll go online and buy one they have a sweet one for a hundred bucks online with a case tuner everything you need maybe I’ll go there

Great selection and experience every time we visit. Family owned and operated make it a knowledgeable place as well. It’s nice how they let you spend as much time as you like looking at the selection of coins and jewelry without pressure like commercial stores. When you’re ready or need anything the brothers are right on it with answers, the way it should be.

I highly recommend these guys. Any time I’ve been in they have always been extremely fair and the guys are knowledgeable. I will definitely be doing more business with them in the future.

I have bought alot of nice things here @ very fair prices… I have also sold them alot of my movies when I was in a bind and needed some cash! Friendly staff and familiar faces when you come in makes your experience great also! Check out their movie selection it’s pretty grand

Wish they would take more things especially since they’re the only pawnshop around here. But other then that it’s nice. The one son with the beard and brown hair is always the best to go to. The others I prefer not to deal with because they’re a bit more rude but he’s always very nice and talks through with you on things.

Very bad experience with this so called pawn shop, they always say there is no market for mechanics tools. Definitely no stopping here ever again. Peoria pawn shop had no problem buying my items at very reasonable price.

My GF and I brought in some items to pawn off to get some moving money collected up(brand new coffee maker, a back massage mat, brand new polaroid camera, a stick welder, and a brand new air purifier). The one dude that first assisted us was nice and actually asked what we wanted for our items, but then some douche came over and looked at everything and said there was no market for anything we had. Not doing business there again EVER.

Extremely unprofessional. We got on the wait list, waited 2 months and got a call saying they had a spot for our day and time. We returned the call the next day saying we wanted to start as soon as possible. Office called us back saying the the instructor, Elizabeth Olson, should be calling us to make the final arrangements. She called the Sunday of MLK weekend, we were with family the next two days. We connected Tuesday and she wanted to do an assessment on the day we agreed on but a time that didn’t work and wasn’t agreed upon. She said she understood and arranged the following week on the original agreed upon time and day. We accepted, then she messages us and said she found another client that would use the extra day and bumped us out. When we questioned her motive, she said this is just business.

I live right up the road from this shop. After completely screwing up a pickup install in one of my guitars, I brought it in for help. The guys were quick to identify what I did wrong and within a week brought my guitar back to life. When I still found an issue with the pickup cutting out (which I am also blaming on my poor soldering skills) I brought it back in and they were able to solve the issue within a day at no additional charge. Cool old school shop.

found out they had a used Warwick Thumb bass I was interested in.. Stopped in on a Monday afternoon.. They handed me the bass ..and left me alone to try it out.. I loved it, but wasn’t crazy about the action . The guy behind the counter said ” our set up guy isn’t here but we can try to make it better ” . They did.. I bought the bass and love it.. ..as far as the only one star review ..Seriously , is there a heavy market demand for a used trombone ??

After politely declining their laughably low offer to buy my trombone, the sales associate became unfriendly and demanded that I give him a counter offer. The poor customer service and the dismal offer to buy my trombone were very surprising to me; I was expecting far more from a business with so many positive reviews.

Music Shoppe is my go-to store for all my music items. Friendly staff and very easy to work with.
I teach drumline students for two different schools and the Music Shoppe makes it easy to get the equipment and supplies i need to keep the programs running. I trust the staff to help make recommendations and to help me make decisions on equipment.
I also play guitar and uke, and have found the Music Shoppe very helpful in purchasing my supplies such as strings, cases, stands, etc.
Recently recommended them to my father (an avid uke player/collector, with a small fine-motor impairment) and the staff assisted with a string change on the spot. They go out of the way to help musicians out!

The employees here are always helpful and knowledgeable. I love working with small local businesses!

Last time I came in here I had an employee make fun of me/my instrument because it wasn’t high end (which I knew). Now that I work on my own instruments I know better than to put up with snobby musicians like the one I dealt with here. Three stars because I can’t condemn the entire establishment because of one or two rude employees.

The Music Shoppe has always provided quality service. We have purchased one instrument from them, but had other instruments serviced. They have knowledgeable staff and I have never been disappointed with any repair or maintenance work they have completed. They bent over backward once to help us in a pinch.
My only complaint is that they are so busy with schools, it is hard to get personal instruments in. (They told me 3 weeks before they could even look at my daughter’s instrument.)
These people are consistently quality professionals. Over the last 5 years I have trusted their service and have not been disappointed.

It’s a good place for renting and buying instruments. They repair and provide loaner instruments.

Absolutely the most unprofessional shop around ! Straight garbage

I went to get my clarinet fixed and they tried to up sell me on getting all my pads fixed and thought I was a child and were annoyed I came in the store when I came to pick it up. I will not be using these services again because of the horrible service I received from the workers.

Looked at stuff for over 20 minutes without getting attention of any staff members on a very slow day. I literally was carrying a list of items I needed. Prices were way out of line. Selection was slightly better than Guitar Center.

Very professional, kind and attentive employees, even better environment. Great higher end shop with some beginner/affordable guitars/basses/etc as well. Prices align perfectly with what you buy hands down, instruments are treated with great care before leaving in your hands.

My daughter plays the trombone, guitar, ukulele and piano, they have it all and more at the best price including lessons. Midlothian Music has been around for years and have an outstanding knowledge of the industry. Their service is always courteous and friendly. Clean and organized shop with great hours as well. Highly recommend them!

I would give no stars. I bought a clarinet for my grandson, and a banjo another time for my husband. The son of the owner took care of my husband and me. I went in at Christmas time to buy reeds and the store did not carry what my grandson needed. A 3 1/2 plus Van Doren reed. The man said they don’t make those. So, I bought a 3 1/2. I had to return the box of reeds, as there IS a 3 1/2 plus reed made. I had my 16 year old grandson with me. This man proceeded to berate us as the group Chicago doesn’t use those and if what they use are good enough for them, we should tell the teacher this is not needed. We were verbally lashed IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS. I didn’t have the receipt, but remember the discount. This sarcastic man was so intimidating, we felt lousy. I should have been rude, but, as a 16 years old, accomplished clarinetist was with me, I did not, nor am I confrontational. We left, and went to QUINLAN AND FABISH in Burr Ridge, which I strongly recommend to anyone, it is worth the ride. They had, ON A RACK, the EXACT reeds my grandson needed. So, stay away from Midlothian Music.

Went to purchase a Swart amp. Was told I could not use the washroom after driving for 1hr. Needless to say I didn’t buy anything. NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!

Short Version: Came in to try out guitars just like any normal, decent person would but ended up being treated like a careless kid

Every time I’ve visited Midlothian Music I’ve had wonderful experiences, but my last visit left me disappointed.

I came in to see how a few of their guitars compare to my guitar that I already own (which I brought in with me.) The associate I approached was very kind and asked a few questions to make sure he was grabbing exactly what I was looking for from the back. He brought a guitar out and tuned it for me.

I thanked him and asked him if I could have a guitar stand to place next the amp so that I could swap between my own and the one he brought me.

He told me he could just hold onto mine while I played the new one. I thought of that as being a strange solution, but I haven’t been to a lot of music shops and figured it was normal or something. I appreciated it.

I was a little bit uncomfortable with how he stood there the whole time watching me as I played (I was playing for a decent amount of time) but I just took it as him doing me a kindness, standing by in case I needed help. But then I realized he was watching me to make sure I didn’t scratch or damage the guitar.

I have a bag that I wear across my shoulder that sits at my waist, and he asked me if I could make sure that the zipper doesn’t scratch it. Which is understandable, I understand how guitar shops are about zippers. I look over at my hip and see that it’s a good distance away, nod and tell him “I gotcha.” afterwards I could still tell he was uneasy with how I was handling the guitar which I feel was very normally and with respect.

He then asks me “oh, could you make sure you don’t pick too hard?” which is a question I’ve never been asked in any guitar store I’ve visited. I didn’t really know what to say so I just looked at him and then he asked me to watch out for my zipper again. At this point my thoughts of “Oh, he’s standing by to help me” turned to thoughts of “Oh, he was watching me this whole time to make sure I don’t tear anything up”

At that point I (regretfully) respond sarcastically and ask “Would you like to just move my bag for me? Would you also like to pick the guitar for me as well?”

We begin to explain to each other where we were both coming from with our statements. In trying to get my point across that I’ve never been watched so closely or felt like I was made out to be such an untrustworthy individual nor watched the whole time in any other music shop I’ve visited, I became very frustrated and the tone of my voice took a similar turn.

A manager comes over and asks what’s going on. I apologize for my tone and as I attempt to explain what happened and how I felt I was treated, he interrupts me and explains to me the reason behind the employee’s actions. He then asks what he can do for me and how the guitar played.

As I tried to continue my explanation two more times, I was interrupted two more times and was told by the manager that the employee was just trying to stand by and give me good business which is rare these days and that he didn’t mean it that way.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe the employee had any malicious intent directed towards me at all, he apologized to me multiple times. It’s just that the following things left a bad taste in my mouth:

– He apologized to me which I really appreciate, but immediately afterwards he would go on to tell me why he treated me the way that he did, which was to ensure the guitar stays in good condition

– I understood that aspect of what he was saying, keeping the merchandise in perfect condition. I was just unhappy with the way he went about it

– When I tried to explain this to the manager, I felt like he wasn’t willing to see my side, especially with how I was interrupted midway twice while trying to explain my issue to both of them.

My 13 year-old son has been taking drum lessons at North Shore Music for 2 years. He’s also in the studio’s band camp which places him with other students to form a rock band. They perform in public around Wilmette. He absolutely loves it and so do we parents. Alejandro and his staff are terrific!

Great place to take guitar, drums or bass lessons! My Son’s been in 3 sessions here and has progressed immensely.

This is an awesome place to improve your skills in music. The owner really knows his stuff and the staff is always helpful when it comes to rescheduling lessons. Can’t recommend enough.

They are more of a acoustic guitar place not really a place for bass players .

So, I am knocking down my review from five stars to three; due to my most recent experience a couple months after the first one. So I reached backout to buy another guitar (place order) as I really wanted an AD22e or another model I can’t remember, but after confirming they could place the order I let them know that I wanted the AD22e and to provide me the full price so we could close the deal and they went silent, mind you I didn’t even get a copy of the receipt from my AD27e that never came which I had also requested from the last conversation.

I did finally get my guitar ordered but I had a national retailer place the order. I was disappointed I didn’t hear back from Tobias Music about completing the purchase and obtaining a copy of the receipt for my AD27e that never came.

Just bought an AD27e (Taylor) from them after finding it for sale online. it was a great buying experience. I’m a lefty, buying guitars online is the norm, and most of the time guitars I buy take a day or two to pack and ship. we had a few emails back and forth and they were quick to respond and very professional. These guys had it packed and shipped the same day, and I didn’t place my order until after lunch; that’s service.

They also took the time to dial the guitar in; it came with the action set and was tuned ready to play out of the box. Paul did a great job and really made this buying experience easy, and hassle free. I’ll have to check back often to see what other lefty guitar they get in. If I have the chance, I will buy from them again.

1 star: Was joking in the vehicle about ordering an ungodly amount of food without the intent of ordering it, obviously so when I came around they threatened me and told me they’d make me pay for food I didn’t order. Which is obviously not legal.

Not to mention this same store messes up my orders almost on a regular.

3 star: They’ve made some improvements since however service is still a bit slow. Could be dropping fries more fresh if they feel a person might get them when they’re cold despite being dropped fresh.

It was nasty in there some not wearing there mask. While waiting inside a drive through person came in they messed up his order no one helped him. The employees are nasty. No kids for our cup.

Worst MC Donald’s I’ve been to. They took forever to take my order. Then when I received the food they had one order totally wrong and didn’t add an item. So I paid for food my kid wouldn’t eat and I didn’t receive.

They got my order wrong (which happens), but the way the lady in the 2nd window treated me when I asked about it is what prompted this bad review. It was the order takers mistake, not mine, and I was very nice about it. I’ve never been given a look so full of hatred and contempt in my life, I just wanted to get out of there. It was enough to prompt my child to ask mommy what’s wrong with that lady? This store needs to pull it together, I doubt we will return after that.
