Drove from Montbello to get my daughter’s violins restrung and was so glad we made the drive! The employee we worked with was very knowledgeable and was able to get my daughter’s violins restrung quickly. Definitely worth the drive!
This shop has great workers that are happy to help new music players fall in love with their new instruments, fix those that need a little love and they do lessons.
The staff was friendly and handled my problem quickly
Nice place check it out
Decent sheet music selection. They do repairs but send the instrument off for them to be done. Double check the repair receipt as mine was overcharged by $120.00. They did fix the error, but only after I argued 3 times with the workers. Satisfactory but not my first choice. I do love the accessory selection though.
Okay, nothing personal here, it simply doesn’t offer enough to receive four or five stars. Are there a few digital pianos, audio interfaces, & an assortment of guitars, amolkfiera, & percussion instruments? Yes, suitable selection. Best to visit if you’re renting instrument or beginning a specific musical journey early on.
Horrible customer service. Have been dealing with a billing issue for over a year. Their employee screwed up, I sent them the proof, and yet they still tried to send me to collections. And I’m still out the money. Each time I’ve tried to communicate with them, it’s always that they will give me a call back and they never do. Because of this, I plan on trying to protect people from this company. Because if there is a mistake, they like to screw you.
It is the worst and cheating place. Be care full if your children miss the class. We had a very bitter experience. Skyler the violin teacher who failed to take 3 violin classes in the month of May. The store manager and Eric who agreed us to compensate the classes in the month of July. We went and asked them for compensation class. They don’t have any reports and not maintained the proper records for missing classes. They are treating us as an animals not even communicate with us properly. We had been to store more than 3 times and they are not responding to our query and also not even call back us to update the scenario. They discriminate the people based on Nation.
Run don’t walk from this business! Worst experience I have ever had. The company policy of auto billing for lesson and auto scheduling is broken and just wrong! I would call each week and ask that they cancel my lesson and remove me from the auto scheduling only to be on the next weeks schedule. Also asked the manager to no bill my card for another month of lessons only to be billed and then I find out the manager has left. What a terrible experience and I will never do business with this company again. I wish I had checked with the bbb web site before doing business with this company. Terrible reviews and right as rain!
3. Elevated Music Center
Address: 6955 S York St #418, Centennial, CO 80122 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
I love Elevated Music Skool! With Friendly informative staff, easy to enroll, and clean environment. Instructors are knowledgeable and have a lot to offer beginning, intermediate as well as advanced students. Instructors take excellent care of their student…I will recommend Elevated Music Center to all my friends and family!
Amazing staff and owners this is the music shop everyone needs! Excellent selection of gear and lessons offered!
My son has ADHD and his music teacher Steve has been wonderful with him. He has bounced around on instruments trying to find what he likes and Steve has encouraged him the each time. We are taking a break during the summer but plan on being back in the fall. Maybe it will be time to try a brass instrument instead of a string. Thank you Steve

Very good selection of new and used guitars. A bit “mind boggling” actually. The staff is very helpful answering questions and showing stock. Repairs and setups also.
Awesome experience. Obviously staff very knowledgeable, passionate, helpful, polite and thoughtful . I will definitely be making more purchases soon!!
I will join many others in their praise of this particular Guitar Center. It’s not like the rest. Staff is knowledgable, hard-working and the selection is remarkably good. A great place for musicians to shop!
AJ helped us track down a great drumset
Several TLDR incidents lead me to say: it has what you need, but dont expect the staff to help you find it, I got ran around a few times but ultimately got what I needed
Messy and hard to get help from employees.
I waited quite a while for service in the drum someone even paged for service in the drum section. Nobody ever came even though I was there for 15 to 20 minutes waiting. I did make eye contact with people and they turned away. I literally had to walk out to my car and call the store to get the service that I needed. How disappointing, definitely will go to Amazon instead of here
This place is always massively understaffed, the one employee in the shop is trying to help all 20 customers meaning hugely long lines, even just to check out.
They have a decent selection of stuff, but please hire some help!
Guy didn’t even answer my questions. Just pointed and walked away.
6. Flipside Music

Ike and Dylan know what they’re doing. This is where I take all my guitars now. They have a great selection of pedals. Perhaps most importantly, they don’t make me feel like a pest when I ask to try out a pedal like most other stores. Great place to be
Ike and Dylan are awesome – I’ve been frequenting this store for a while and it get’s better every time I go in. No sales pressure and they just love talking music. Huge selection of pedals (both new and used – basic Boss pedals up to Strymon) as well as a good selection of guitars/amps for the beginner up to the touring pro. Plan on stopping in for 15 minutes and you’ll be walking out an hour later wishing you had more time. Great shop!
Had a great experience buying my first guitar here. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I walked out with an instrument I’m really happy with and never felt pressured.
Best service in this category
Good inventory for a small place.
Cool store, not the friendliest staff. Nice pedal selection.
Overly expensive and also lots of homeless people hanging outside on the street near by. It’s a dump.
7. Dean Music Group
Address: 6778 E Panorama Ln, Denver, CO 80224 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
I wish there was a way to give Jimmie more than just 5 stars. I have had multiple dealings with him and every time he has gone out of his way to provide the most top notch customer service I have ever had. I wish the rest of the world would take lessons from him on how to treat a customer.
Jimmie Dean – was fantastic! He took to time to assist me with a pair of Ultimate Ears to use in conjunction with my Sena while riding my motorcycle. The Sena system wasn’t loud enough due to my hearing loss. The UE plug into the Sena, now I can hear my music and cycle to cycle communication along with having external cycle noise blocked. Thank you again Jimmie – Regards Babs
As I write this I’m trying to think of how I can express the amazing quality of service I’ve received from Jimmie Dean at Denver music group and I’m sure I can do it justice. All I can say is Jimmie is the man to see if you’re looking for Ultimate Ears products, he’ll let you listen before you buy and explain the various features so you can make a good choice. He will assist you in every way so that you’re completely satisfied, I can’t praise him enough!
8. Schmitt Music
Address: 155 W Hampden Ave Suite #155B, Englewood, CO 80110 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
My husband bought a piano from Schmitt Music and two months later I rented a keyboard for a holiday party- not knowing it was the same company. Both experiences were fantastic. We love the piano for our home and the keyboard worked out great. I was especially impressed and appreciative of the staff at Schmitt Music, who graciously opened early and loaded the keyboard into my car. The whole experience was great. A+ to Schmitt Music all around. Highly recommend.
Good shop, and good salesmen. Dino did a good job of getting into my head to understand what I am looking for, as well as where my budgetary needs are. His follow up was unparalleled, and he provided quite a bit of useful information, piano templates, links, and pretty much anything else you might want to help you in your piano-buying journey.
The Boston grand I bought sounds great and beat out quite a few pianos around town I was looking at for tone quality in that price range.
If you’re in the market for a piano, definitely stop by Schmitt and check it out. Its a Steinway shop, so definitely worth the time.
Phenomenal piano store, and a pleasure to visit and meet Betsy, Barry and the entire team. My baby grand piano from Schmitt music (previously Wells when my family bought it almost 20 years ago) is playing as beautiful today as ever before. On top of all that, they host incredible FREE concerts monthly and many events feature Steinway artists! It doesn’t get any better! So thrilled Schmitt Music is here in my community.
Haven’t been in there but play the violation when young great I love music
I’ve Only been a phone customer but it’s been a month & Schmitt Music keeps Me informed of every event or options offered through their Co.! I’m anxious 2 make it into their store as I’m Positive I’ll Be treated Wonderfully!
We visit Schemit to find a piano my daughter and Betsy was there helping us. She spend quite some time with us and showed the stocks of pianos around our budget. My daughter tried many pianos there and we did have ideas of what we want. Unfortunately, a buyer was ahead of us. It was a good experience with the store, though.
I made a mistake in going in to try out a piano a 8 years ago.
The price was very high, and they use high pressure sales tactic.
Worst, they have bombarded me with email spam ever since, I can’t get off that. If you read, please tell me now to get off your list. Calling you did not help.
Terrible
Open sign on, but not open,
9. VON’S VIOLIN SHOP
Address: 6740 E Hampden Ave Suite #103, Denver, CO 80224 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
A few years ago, Von got us an excellent deal on a violin with sound of a violin 4 times what we paid. Her friends like her violin over their more expensive violins. He fine tuned the violin with the best strings and tailpiece for it.
I took my grandfather’s violin down to get it looked at. The folks behind the counter as well as the luthier all gave me fantastic advice and information about this 130 year old instrument. No hard sell…just excited to see such a cool old instrument. Gave me tips on how to fix it up, when I asked how much it would be to refurbish, they told me that it would honestly be just as good if I did a few things. The younger tall gentleman played Amazing Grace on the violin and I”m sure my grandfather was smiling when he heard it. It was amazing. Great experience! PS – not to nock another violin shop, but when THEY saw the same violin they said it would not be worth it to get it fixed up and I should just use it as wall decoration. VON’S is THE PLACE TO GO for violins and information! Thanks, guys!
There was a strange vibration coming from my son’s violin so we took it to Von’s. We were afraid it was something major like a body crack or the neck coming loose, but Von was able to immediately diagnosis it as a bad string, resulting in a simple inexpensive fix.
This man will sell you an instrument for a very high price, it doesn’t even have a have a name inside. Then when you want to upgrade your instrument he’ll buy it back for a fraction of what you payed for. Very unhappy doing business with him. Be careful!!
10. Music & Arts
Address: 8475 S Yosemite St Suite B, Lone Tree, CO 80124 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
Cody T was an excellent salesperson. He knew exactly where the book I wanted was located. He also shared the fact that he recommended that same book to a friend. He was very polite and friendly. I am a minority and a lot of the time people act as if the faster we can pay them and get out the better. But Cody wasn’t that way at all, he didn’t even seem to notice my color. Thank you Cody.
I play thr clarinet and the saxophone and got them from here. I also take lessons and this place always has what I need.
Nice people and 1000x quicker than guitar center
Good selection of musical gear, instruments, some sheet music, and other necessities. The rental prices are high – the markup on their instruments is, too- but overall it’s a good store with a friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Your one stop shop whether you want to buy or rent or repair musical instruments. They have friendly staff with reliable service and they do have branches at many places in Colorado
Very limited options. Good for beginner or any starter . Cheaper instruments and cheap music stand. Not recommended for intermediate or professional needs :/
Helpful staff, but totally under staffed. If you roll in expect a huge line and pack a lunch. It is a very poor experience.
Purchased a viola starter pack at a school rental night. Was told it would be delivered to the school within a few days. It is now more than a month later and my kid never got the starter pack. To top it off the customer service line does not answer the phone. I sent an email to see if I could get it resolved and the same day I got a random $30 charge on my credit card. This has been a very frustrating experience and my daughter still has no viola pack!
Very poor experience with lessons. Tried to cancel lessons because we were traveling for the holidays. We missed 3 of 4 lessons before they called and asked why we weren’t coming. We had originally planned on continuing our lessons, but after multiple refusals to work with us (saying “you signed the contract and there’s nothing we can do”) by staff and manager, that’s not going to happen. I wasn’t expecting much as they are technically correct – we did sign, but didn’t understand the auto renewal policy. They can do better, and should.

Address: Littleton, CO 80122 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
I’m in town Visiting I had a string pop on my acoustic. I Went in to this location this location and there was alot of friendly staff ready to help. Danny replaced the string for me on the house which was awesome gesture. Thank you for the warm welcome and great service Denver!
Great Staff! Great service, Zack in drums is especially cool and helpful!
They are really great here. Thanks for the help
It’s guitar center…….
Never had a bad experience. Sure, people don’t ask you right away if you need help sometimes, but all stores are like that, I prefer it. I’d rather be left alone until I need help, but when I did, they were helpful. Did kinda have to wait a while though, I just spent my time looking around while I waited a few minutes, no big deal. If you are looking for an instrument or gear, it should be an all day dedication anyway so you find the right item. All the guitars I bought were actually decent and one guitar teacher I had was surprised when I told him that I bought it here because it sounded really good. Still sounds good after a year and I have never even changed the strings on it yet. An acoustic one I bought was good in the store but was blah after a month, definitely buy extra strings when you buy a guitar, it will sound much better right away, duh haha. Also just make sure that it feels comfortable when you try it out and you really shouldn’t have a problem. A generic Walmart of music, but I hope I continue to have decent experiences with them in the future.
Great service
Good luck getting any assistance, half the staff just stands around, the other half shows distain and judgmental attitudes…do not recommend at all
We were in the market for a PA system and thought we’d give Guitar Center a shot instead of going the tried and true, online route. The selection was limited and we could have ordered via Amazon for less & quicker turnaround, but liked the salesperson so decided to give him a rip at some commission. We were over-promised on the delivery date and it arrived several days late. One of the speakers was the wrong model, the other heavily damaged and clearly used. I was also ignored when i asked staff to right a wrong with a mic stand with a missing part from my last purchase. Guitar Center did not answer either of my phone calls to right the situation (or the last one).
I am shocked this place and corporation are in business in 2020. I will continue to use local instruments shop that keep their word and deliver but never, ever Guitar Center. I wish i could give 0/4 stars. I’d hold off on leaving this review but I am very confident the burden will fall on our hands with both time and cash invested. Pathetic.
We came here to rent speakers for our wedding day, which was a great deal cheaper than a DJ. Something happened the day of our wedding however that forced me to have to hook our rented speakers up instead of the family member who had experience with sound systems. I called up the store to ask for some help after I initially hooked them up in what seemed like the sensible way to hook them up since they weren’t giving me any sound. When I described how I hooked them up, the rental guy asked “Why would you hook them up like that?” Long story short, he acted like I was burdening him by asking for assistance on hooking up the speakers that we rented and treated me like I was an idiot.
Though he finally (probably begrudgingly) walked me through hooking my speakers up, I forget to hook up the microphone we also rented. I couldn’t get it to work no matter what I did, so I reluctantly called Guitar Center back up for some help. So they transferred me over to the rental center again and put me on hold for 15 minutes. They picked up the phone for a second and put it back down without a word. I called a second time and they had me on hold for 45 minutes. Unfortunately, after 45 minutes I had to go get dressed at my hotel because the ceremony wasn’t far away.
My wedding day was beautiful and that’s partially because I spent month’s worth of my blood, sweat, and tears on it. I also spent many hours the day of my wedding working hard to set up everything and making sure everything came together perfectly for my bride and our families. So I am quite annoyed that the employee working the rental department that day wasn’t professional enough to help me in a courteous or even basically decent manner on the day of my wedding. I’m also quite annoyed that when I called back, they failed to answer me twice. I can’t express my dissatisfaction with this business enough.
13. Mimi Fung de Lemos Violin Studio

Mimi is a wonderful teacher. Her concentration on good technique and attention to detail along with her thorough knowledge of repertoire has really improved my playing.
14. Ryan Elwood
Address: 6574 S Broadway Ste 200, Centennial, CO 80121 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
Ryan was my drum teacher for over 4 years. He was not only my teacher, but a mentor and a friend. He pushed me and challenged me to become a better drummer. He saw potential in me when I couldn’t see it myself. If anyone of any age or skill level, wants to learn the basics, master a new technique, or anything in between, then Ryan Elwood is your guy.
I took drum lessons from Ryan Elwood for a few months before moving out of state. I started as a true beginner having never held a drumstick in my life and can now play several beats and am working on some fills. When I met Ryan, I could not tap my foot in time and had never even been able to read music. Ryan not only plays amazingly well himself, he understands and teaches proper technique and has a vast knowledge of musical history. I would recommend lessons w Ryan Elwood to anyone who wants to learn drums the right way.
Ryan was my daughter’s firs teacher. He really helped her get the basics down while also making it fun. I highly recommend him!

Rachel, my instructor for voice and piano at TR Music, has been a beacon of musical wisdom. Her dedication and personalized guidance have unveiled new dimensions in my musical expression.
I can’t say enough good things about the staff and the setup Jeremy the owner has created! Perfect learning environment, fun and interesting atmosphere! Three of our family members all take lessons in the lesson rooms, and play together in the large professional environment jam room. This place is great!
What a great find in Alhambra. I love the personal attention Paul gave to me and everyone in my group. He is someone who truly enjoys teaching and worked patiently with me in achieving my music goals.
Seeking assistance in songwriting, I sought the guidance of an experienced instructor who shared valuable insights from the industry. Through her expertise, my storytelling abilities were unlocked and my lyrics and melodies were elevated to new heights. As a result, my confidence has significantly grown, ensuring that my writing will benefit for years to come.
17. Linda Storey
Address: 4588 S Acoma St, Englewood, CO 80110 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
Love this store. Everyone at the store is awesome, knowledgeable, and friendly. And John does the best set ups and fretwork I’ve ever had on my guitars. Neighborhood gem for sure.
Very knowledgable and clearly love and are passionate about guitars. I don’t have enough good things to say about this business, and highly recommend them for any of your instrument needs.
Good folks…
Knowledgeable staff, great selection
We went in to try to find a mandolin. The store is smallish but selection is good. Very “buy something now or leave” vibe. We were able to get some questions answered by their seemingly knowledgeable staff, but the way we were treated made it difficult to find an instrument that might be a good fit.
Nice helpful people. Only sell acoustic guitars.
ZERO STARS if it was allowed
I called in advance before I drove down from Loveland to make sure it was ok to try some guitars. I had a specific Martin in mind that was in their inventory and had money in hand ready to buy. Ian was very helpful and set me up to play the guitar for about 30 minutes.
When I asked to look at another guitar, Ian obliged, but a surly older man emerged from the back room to scold me and tell me If I wasn’t prepared to spend “real” money on a guitar he’d rather not let me touch any. I understand covid considerations, which is why I called in advance before driving 60 MILES to make sure I could play. Mind you, there was not another customer in that building for the short time I spent.
Poor Ian looked stunned, and I politely left, completely embarrassed.
You’ve heard of snobbery in music stores?? Well his was worse than any Guitar Center will ever dish out. I will never do business or recommend this place to any one because of one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever had.
I have successfully purchased that same guitar as of last week.
Came here while on a trip with a friend and mandolin student who was in the market for a new mandolin. She hadn’t played many because there aren’t really any places to play them where we live. I am always in the market for new instruments I like, and have several multi-thousand dollar instruments. So we went to the store, which had no other customers there, and looked at the mandolins.
She is pretty shy so I wanted to loosen her up into not feeling judged and free to try and compare. I grabbed one of the cheaper mandolins and did my typical trying out a mando routine of playing parts of tunes that try out the high, low, and mid ranges of the instrument. As soon as she started playing one of the cheaper Kentucky mandolins softly some guy came over and asked what we were looking for and that we could only play the instruments if we were going to buy them.
I gave him a quick synopsis of the situation and made the point that it’s hard to know what we’d want to buy until having played it. He replied with a smirk and said he could show us to something specific if we were interested, but couldn’t condone “jamming”. I was bewildered as we were not jamming at all, but simply lightly playing on some cheap mandolins at the same time.
Eventually he showed me to some octave mandolin that I pretended to be interested in due to the feeling that if I didn’t tell him something specific we’d be kicked out or something. I felt suspicious somehow. When he left, some younger guy came over and he was really cool. But that older guy killed any good vibes. I didn’t even try all the instruments I would have been considering to buy.
One would think that, especially in this day and age, brick and mortar music stores need to be a sanctuary for players to play instruments they’re shopping for.
Worst service ever! Don’t go to this place for guitar help. Go for frustration and disappointment. They’re really good at providing that.
19. Lotus Guitar
Address: 4195 S Broadway, Englewood, CO 80113 , Greenwood Village , Colorado , United States
Teague is a very intentional teacher with great options for online lessons. The desire to see students succeed in low-pressure lessons is definitely a quality with Lotus Guitar. I would highly recommend trying out a lesson. If there was an option for six starts I would put that in.
Teague has really been a great guide in this journey of learning to play the guitar. He listens and builds based on your progress but also pushes you just a little more each time. He has a very peaceful nature which calms my nerves when I mess up. I would recommend him highly and am glad to be able to learn from him.
If you’re looking for a new guitar teacher, there’s none I can recommend more than Teague. Of course, he plays guitar excellently, but that doesn’t make a good teacher. Good thing that he has those skills too! He’s very patient and good humored in all of his lessons, and he’s able to explain everything well and in a way that anyone can understand (even me!). If you’re looking to pick up guitar, or are brushing off old skills, Teague is one of the best choices.
