Amy is a kind and thoughtful shopkeeper and her store is full of a lovely curation of stationery, home goods, and – of course – books. I live in Fairbanks, and The Bookstore in Haines is my favorite bookstore statewide. If you’re visiting Haines, you must stop in! Or if you live far away, you should absolutely order from Amy’s shop ♥️
The Bookstore was recommended to me by a gallery owner in Haines (Amy- Steve told me to tell you Hi!). I am SO glad we stopped in this bookstore. A wonderfully curated collection of books, I wanted to buy every book in the shop. Just lovely!
Searching for a copy of Tisha by Robert Specht (the tale of a teacher in Alaska in the 1920s) whilst I was on an Alaskan cruise, I visited this store. It was open even though it was meant to be closed. Special thanks to the friendly owner who searched her shelves for this title and finding nothing new or saleable secondhand, found an ancient mass paperback copy hidden in her office and gave it to me. Of course then I had to buy a selection of other items, which was not hard as The Bookstore was full of attractive items. Do visit even if you think it maybe closed.

They are very gracious people whom have helped my wife and I alot in our time of need.. Were very grateful for them and he stated he is very grateful as well that he has had the opportunity to help us whenever we have asked.

Rusty Compass coffeehouse is a great stop for a hot coffee, Latte, or hot chocolate. The food is served hot with a warming smile and the freshly made pastries are everyone’s delight. We made it to Rusty Compass at least once a day and sometimes twice a day during our stay.
as a southerner, I hold anywhere serving biscuits and gravy to a high standard- and these were great! cute little coffee shop with friendly employees and great drinks. we enjoyed our iced chai lattes and breakfast!
In Alaska for holiday and cruise ship pulled up Haines, a very small place. Stumbled over the Rusty Compass and was delighted to have the best flat white coffee in Alaska. Thanks so much…

Phenomenal art, craft and everything in between shop that captured our attention for at least an hour! We found so many treasures for ourselves and our friends back home. So many unique and locally made and inspired treasures. We were most excited to adopt this sweet bear made by one of the shop owners!
A wonderful shop with beautiful and unique jewelry, gifts, and home decor. So grateful that we had a port day in Haines and got to shop in this lovely store ❤️

Awesome selection of vintage vinyl records. I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for, however I was able to find a lot of great records that made the stop worth it. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. Out of the 20 or so records I purchased there were only a few had skipping issues or playing problems. But they were on the cheeper side and some are decades old. If you are looking to go for an adventure in hopes to find some gems, HI-FI is a great place to look.
This record shop is owned and operated by the coolest cats on the planet! Love the atmosphere, the selection and you cannot beat their lo-fi equipment set ups! Classic!!!

Received a record set as a Christmas gift that was bought here and while one of them play just fine the other one in the pack skips REALLY bad. Knowing now that some records are procured from other parties i wonder if what was thought to be a new record (as was still in the plastic wrap) was actually one of these that wasn’t stored appropriately. Love the idea of the shop, sad that product quality is not always consistent.
A small shop with an interesting selection of used vinyl ,used cassettes and a great selection of used stereo equipment.
In Juneau Alaska there’s not much selection of anything but chain store at Fred Meyers ,yet this small shop offers a amazing selection of audio equipment, from power amp to tuners to cassette decks to turntables and receivers, you find it all here from moderate price to midline high-end stereo equipment
So if you’re looking for used equipment or some vinyl to browse through drop by and give these guys a chance

A great time…love the music, especially The Lacks and Siblings and Outlaws.
Fantastic experience, fun and laughter.
Really enjoyable. We went for the fish dinner and the event was great despite some rainy weather.
Farmer’s market in the fairgrounds on Saturdays from 10 – noon with local produce, crafts, and music is great. Other shops are not open much and have irregular hours when it is not the star fair time.
